Oppose the blatant theft of an election from 70 million people and you're likely to gain some fans. Not surprising.

For better or worse, politics is like religion. Fighters rise, squishes sink.

The election of 2020 shows that their "likely voter" model is going to need a major revision in light of the vote harvesting and mail-in fraud.

Well, whatever may have been Trump's role in the 1/6/ Melee at the Capitol, it's not like the Biden Admin nor the Congress has especially been Profiles in Courage since then.

The American People are hurting. Their communities and businesses were devastated by the COVID lockdowns. Then, they saw the riots & how law enforcement didn't do anything to stop them. Governors didn't call in the National Guard, and downtowns burned around the nation.

And, then Congress gets ransacked, and with the exception of one Capitol Hill police officer who may or may not have died from riot related injuries, everyone who died was from the protestors' side of things. Congress & the Biden Admin then freak out, turning the Mall into an armed camp with two fucking divisions of National Guard, effectively locking down downtown DC. They then proceed to publicly question the loyalty of the troops, even going so far as to have some nutjob white lefty Congressman from TN go on air & discuss how the NG can't be trusted because they're probably all white Republicans.

So, when the electorate thinks about Trump, the question is "Trump vs who?". Could Trump be whack? Oh, yeah. But sanity really, really seems to be in short supply among our political class.

Outlier poll."

Not according to those revanchist right-wing extremists at NBC. The wildly popular and universally acclaimed Joe Biden has a one point edge in approval over the vile, universally denounced Donald Trump. Sorry, Establishment.

While I don't believe that Trump is hated as widely as some may believe, I still think most polls are probably wrong. At any rate, it will be interesting to see how people's views about Trump evolve over the next few years. Will people who hate him now start to miss him?

Rasmussen’s final nationwide presidential poll had Biden +1 over Trump; the actual count was Biden +4.4. Experience tells us Rasmussen’s margin of error tends to be less than other polls and on the right rather than the left, so adjusting three points for that it would appear Trump’s approval/disapproval is roughly breaking even — not bad given the Orange Outrage of recent weeks.

Isn’t that a nice departing gift to Drumpf, in light of all the rest on the list.

Adjusting margins of error for fraud will be the new polling craft.

Choose an explanation:

1. It may be an outlier. Statistics have a way of doing this every so often.
2. People may like the new quieter Trump. (i.e. He should have done this a year ago!)
3. People are now realizing that the so called "insurrection" was like many things in Trumps presidency, grossly overplayed.
4. The election was actually stolen and far more people voted for Trump than for Biden - hence the new bias in favor of Trump!
5. Biden and his team are already scaring a majority of Americans with their plans.
6. All of the above.

Prediction: Within a year a majority of Americans will be wishing Trump was back in office!

If you believe that Biden won the election, then you believe that the media is still powerful in forming public opinion. But polls--all of them, not just the "outliers"--say otherwise. They say that all this crap the media keeps stuffing down our throats about how awful Trump is has very little effect on public opinion.

I'm not saying by that that I think Biden stloe the election. I think he might have, but the red flags, however many they are, have not been demonstrated to be decisive. At the moment, they are still just that--red flags.

Better not tell Mitch McConnell, he's just attacked Trump signally he'll vote to impeach him. He also won't meet with Trump tomorrow AM, instead he's going to Mass with Good Ol' Joe. Oh, and Kevin McCarthy is doing the same.

McCarthy is much more subdued in his Trump hatred because he's up for re-election in 2 years. Mitch is going to retire in six years. He's a free agent baby, and he's going Democrat Big-time.

Thanks Loser Kentucky Republican. Hell of a job!

What's outrageous is that McConnell repeated Schumer's lie. Oh there was insurrection by "The Mob" incited by TRUMP and other "powerful men" (LOL), but the senate nobly withstood "The Mob" and courageously voted for Joe Biden our new Thief-in-Chief.

McConnell, of course, has spent the last 4 years subverting, obstructing, and undermining Trump and his agenda. All the while posing as Trump great buddy, including having his wife in Trump's cabinet. Y'see McConnell, really, really, wanted to help Trump, but the "Senate Traditions" and "The filibuster" stopped him. He tried. Really, he did.

Rand Paul says McConnell will split the R party and 1/3 will leave if Trump is impeached on McConnell say so. I'd like to think that was true.

The people, especially the Trump supporters, look at the evidence. They see nothing that Trump said or did that incited anyone. They look at the Tapes of the "Capital Hill Riot" and wonder why this is considered so "Horrible" given we've been watching 6 MONTHS of antifa/BLM violence.

They wonder why McConnell and his gang are such hysterical cowards. And why a few protesters made them cry like little girls. Or why the big strong Senators and Congressmen need 25,000 troops (more than were at Omaha beach on D-day) to protect them from non-existent Right-wing boogie men.

Joe Smith: "Speaking of squishes, just heard McConnell on the news stating Trump incited the rioters."

Incorrect.

McConnell attempts to "square the circle" by claiming Trump "provoked" the crowd, a standard below that of the legal term "incite".

I suspect McConnell did this to kick Trump on the way out in order to shore up his anti-populist establishment bona fides while setting the stage for claiming the charges dont amount to an impeachable offense.

The Turtle knows full well that republicans working to impeach Trump, unconstitutionally (a violation of at least 4 constitutional protections) would literally end the republican party.

In this case the signalling by Lindsay Graham is most telling.

rcocean said...

Poor Trump might have to depend on the SCOTUS to retain his right to run again. We already know the 3 Democrats will vote their politics. And that Roberts Hates Trump. All they need is one more SCOTUS judge and Trump will be barred forever from running again.

Good thing we have the rule of law in the USA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

rcocean said...

Yeah, right. McConnell is playing 4-D chess again. LOL!

He's stabbed Trump in the back. He will vote to impeach or let 20 R's vote to impeach and remove and bar him from running again. This is what its all about.

No, Mitch is NOT Playing 4-d Chess. Quit wishing and start thinking.

Drago said...

rcocean: "Yeah, right. McConnell is playing 4-D chess again. LOL!"

4D chess?

More like 2D checkers.

McConnell attacks Trump but can read a poll as well as anyone.

Dont overcomplicate this.

Drago said...

rcocean, I will offer 1 caveat.

I am operating under the assumption that McConnell wishes to maintain the supposed viability of the republican party.

Here's the caveat: it is possible that the republican establishment believes that the Permanent 1-party control of the US Govt is now underway and that train has left the station.

In that case, given the dems will give amnesty to 30 million illegals prior to 2024, give statehood to DC and/or PR (yes, Manchin will fold as usual), and complete dem control of voting systems will be consolidated, McConnell may indeed be playing his part to secure his position within the New Reality/Regime by helping to vote down the populist revolt embodied by Trump and a potential 2024 candidacy.

I suspect thats what you are thinking.

Continuing to sketch in the outline of a popular, legitimate, democratic government we find that after the barb wire gets picked up and the curfew ends and the streets reopen and after the 25,000 soldiers go home, this government plans to put the former leader of the government on trial and send his supporters to re-education camps. I understand that Burmah and other countries will file a protest at this violation of standards which the US government used to impose on them. They want the grants taken from them to be given back. But the US government simply plans to explain that we have never objected to "human rights" violations, never monitored elections, never objected to placing former leaders on trial and always considered half of all Americans multiracial white scum.

Joe's campaign strategy of staying in the basement worked. Why change?

He has the DNC to run his administration as was planned from the beginning.

He has the media to pump up his approval ratings while he drools and wonders where his oatmeal is.

I agree and wonder why he did it. The pork, of course, is why Mitch is there, but why the extra money was a barrier?

Sundance makes the excellent (and at first glance, non-intuitive point) that Mitch wants to be the minority leader...far more money in it.

"The answer is where you have had to actually follow Mitch McConnell closely to see how he works. When the Majority has around 52 to 55 seats, they need McConnell to give them 8 to 9 votes to overcome the three-fifths (60 vote) threshold for their legislative needs. It is in the process of trade and payment for those 8 to 9 votes where McConnell makes more money, and holds more power, than as a sitting Majority Leader."

Of course, this supposes that the Dems won't kill the filibuster.

Besides, Mitch has never liked Trump, will retire soon, and has more money than God.

He just doesn't care anymore.

The poll is an outlier and probably isn't an accurate reflection of how people feel. But it could be an indication that the other polls aren't wholly right either as well as a harbinger of the future. If Trump still gets kicked around, or if he doesn't, people may become more well disposed towards him once he's out of office.

***

In the sense that matters, Joe Biden won the election. Sure, Donald Trump may have won more votes in more states, and he was surely cheated out of votes in several others. But he lost. And Biden won.

We know Biden won because it will be he that is sworn in next week and not Trump. It’s tough to swallow, but that’s what’s happening.

If a party cheats, and is in charge of investigating accusations of cheating, and if the media calls the cheating a conspiracy theory, and if the rulers move to expel those who question the cheating, as has already happened, then that party will win by virtue of its power.

This is the way power works.

Gideon Sa’ar, a right-wing Netanyahu rival who recently quit the ruling Likud party to run for prime minister as the head of the New Hope party, has hired several campaign advisers from Project Lincoln, who, in recent months, ran a campaign against outgoing US President Donald Trump, in an attempt to thwart his reelection bid, Channel 12 reports.

Lincoln Project founders Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, Stuart Stevens, and Reed Galen, who worked to persuade Republicans that Trump no longer represented them, will face a similar task in convincing the Israeli right that Sa’ar, not Netanyahu, is their true leader now.

A source close to the campaign confirms the report to The Times of Israel on condition of anonymity, and adds that they are likely to visit Israel as soon as possible.
