"White women. Again."

Sullivan, Greenwald, Taibbi, all got the same ice pick treatment from media ownership who want to stamp out any writing that doesn’t further the cause of the Party. Trotsky learned a little too late that it isn’t enough to be a believer in a cause, you must also condone the means to the end.

It's so stupid, the way we talk about race and gender in politics. OK, so 52% of white women voted for Trump. That means 48% did not! Something like 20% of black people voted for him.
So we'll hear Trump got "white women" and not black men, but those are a lot of people in both "categories" voting both for and against. Does it have anything to do with the color they are? Or their gender? Or does it have to do with the issues they believe in?

We as humans are so much richer than just our gender or just our race or even just of the two combined. Who can know exactly why some things resonate with our own particular mind and some things don't? We're complex!

Yet we have to categorize people on what we can see about them. Then when some majority of each category vote a certain way, then that's the way that cateorgy votes. I guess. It's so very dumb.

I also want to say something about this narrative I keep hearing that we are a "deeply divided nation".
We are deeply divided between rural and urban areas. So deeply divided.

But why divided? Why not just different? It makes perfect sense people in urban areas and people in rural areas might have different priorities. That's not divided. That's what our whole system is built to honor.
So why do we have to tut tut about deep divisions? We aren't all supposed to think the same, and we aren't all supposed to vote the same, but that isn't division. That's having options.

If voting in different ways is supposedly "divided", what do they propose to unite us? One party rule (ok yes that's what they propose).

We aren't divided we are diverse, which is what they say they want. And we have a system that takes that into account. Celebrate it, media! Stop acting like it's a terrible thing.

White women

Imagine going to studying for years, getting degrees from top schools, and coming out thinking like Karen Attiah. I suppose there is an entire generation or two that has the same problem.

I suggest she go and ask for her money back from those top schools.

Racist black woman again*. Boring.

"Making their own decisions on various issues, according to their own different beliefs and convictions. Why on earth is that a problem? It’s success!"

Flesh that out a little bit and you'd have a competent middle-school essay.

* "America hates to let Black women speak" said the black woman in major newspaper as if to demonstrate her silly cluelessness.

Andy sounds smug to me. The drawing doesn't help. Karen's point (interesting name there) may be that many women weren't really voting in their own interest or the country's but just following the mainstream media narrative and their instinctual dislike of Trump. But we got beyond the "What's the matter with Kansas" controversy by realizing that people mostly do vote in their own interest, so one can understand Andy's applying the same principle here.

Because the woke suburban white woman that lives behind a wall of property value are hypocrites. They grew up in privilege. They get good public schools for their kids, and then to kiss the teacher’s ass they deny inner city minorities school choice and vouchers. They live in 95% white areas, and think they are Nelson Mandela. They live in 3500 square foot McMansions with dual air conditioners, and think they are an environmentalist because they drive a Prius. They breed with the alpha-male, but raise their sons to be Ritalin charged Beta’s. In Madison it’s an entirely different creature. At least in the suburbs they still shave their legs.

If female voters are intimidated into voting Democrat by violent left-wing demonstrations that are tacitly supported by Democrat politicians, then that suggests a road map for Republicans in 2022 and 2024. Just sayin’

Are we talking about Karen, that woman who screams at black cops calling them racist, and Uncle Toms, or the one that calls the cops on you and falsely claims you threatened her, or the one who screams in your face for not wearing a mask when riding your bicycle? Yea, she's not cool, but I can definitely see why she would vote Democrat.

C'mon man! Faking naiveté doesn't suit you. Their own different: that's the problem right there.

Progs think everyone should be free to choose the right prog position. Success is achieving the desired end state, not some bourgeois notion of people "making their own decisions." That kind of liberal individualism is precisely what needs to be rooted out. Instead, views need to fit identities, in support of The Cause.

Andrew, Andrew. "Women's issues" have nothing to do with women. They are just liberal issues rebranded, like the "gluten-free" tags in the supermarket on products that no one ever dreamed had wheat in them to begin with. If you look at who is commenting at that thread this becomes even more clear.

In the role of foreman, a slave not only could gain privileges, such as access to extra rations, but could also attain on occasion a level of authority rivaling the overseer's. Yet the foreman was caught in a troublesome position. He was a slave whose work brought him personal power on the one hand, and on the other, helped to maintain the very system by which he and others were oppressed.

It's a problem because women aren't interested in structure and its stability, going for whatever outcome feels good at the moment.

Men dote on structure and its stability.

Maybee - excellent points. Not allowed! Mind crime!

For the left, we will remain divided until we non-leftists conform and knuckle under to their collective will. all while we are forced to look the other way while the Pelosi-Clinton-Biden family gifters continue to grift. Once we knuckle under, we will all be one big happy family.

White women actually increased their support for Trump. The only group that lowered their support was white men. At least according to some AP story I read.

Which makes one wonder how Joe Biden managed to get a record breaking number of votes.

Lurker21 said...

I understood this entirely wrong. That's not hard to do when you have to interpret two word tweets. Karen Attiah is attacking White women for voting for Trump and not voting for "women's issues" and "intersectionality", and Sullivan is defending them.

I thought she was singling out for abuse the suburban White women who, following the mainstream media narrative and their own instinctive dislike for Trump, went for Biden, and Sullivan was saying that they were voting in their own best interest after all.

From June, presumably this year:

Washington Post global opinions editor Karen Attiah reportedly declared, “White women are lucky that we are just calling them ‘Karen’s.' And not calling for revenge,” in a since-deleted tweet.

Attiah, who is black, listed multiple things that she feels white women are responsible for and warned her 185,000 followers that worse things could happen than simply being referred to as “Karen,” which has emerged as a disparaging term for white women.

“The lies & tears of White women hath wrought: -The 1921 Tulsa Massacre - Murder of Emmet Till - Exclusion of Black women from feminist movements - 53% of white women voting for Trump. White women are lucky that we are just calling them ‘Karen’s.' And not calling for revenge,” Attiah wrote in a now-deleted tweet that was captured by multiple accounts before she erased it.

Karen isn't exactly how I had imagined her. Neither I suppose is Andrew.

"Female experience is submerged in the world of fluids, dramatically demonstrated in menstruation, childbirth and lactation. Edema, water-retention, that female curse is Dionysus' leaden embrace. Male tumescence is an assertion of the separateness of objects. An erection is architectural, sky-pointing. Female tumescence, through blood or water, is slow, gravitational, amorphous. In the war for human identity, male tumescence is an instrument, female tumescence an obstruction. The fatty female body is a sponge. At peak menstrual and natal moments, it is locked passively in place, suffering wave after wave of Dionysian power."

What the hell does this even mean? Are we talking about the women with TDS or without it?

As for Sullivan, it’s a problem if their decisions are stupid as they are all too often.

Lurker21 said...

Divided, different, diverse? I guess the idea is the country needs some enemy to focus on so as not to fall apart. It's possible that the task that holds us together is just maintaining a growing economy and maintaining a functioning society and political system. That worked in the past for long stretches. But today we are so conscious of our differences and so used to material affluence that it doesn't provide the glue that it once did. Without a common external enemy or threat and without much gratitude for what we have been able to achieve in the standard of living, people naturally turn on each other.

The other side of division and diversity is that parties weren't so polarized 50 years ago. They were assortments of people who didn't agree with each other about much beyond defeating the other party. You could have people in your own party that you disagreed with and people in the other party that you actually agreed with about many things. Similarly, the media wasn't so polarized then as it is now.

Yep "Maybee" you hit the nail on the head!

What's amazing to me is that Liberals, like "Sullivan", completely ignore the real election story. Not only did Blacks vote in increased numbers for President Trump but Hispanic votes for Trump, just re-wrote the entire political USA landscape. Devastating for Democrats cause Hispanics out number other minorities and are the fastest growing group in the USA, by population. Conservative leaning on Family, Religion and Community. Moreover, second generation Hispanics pretty much vote reliably Republican. Sorry Democratic "Sullivan" and 'Liberals' - you got a massive mountain to climb with your stupid cultural memes.
