Said Jackson Katz, who's made a documentary called "The Man Card: Presidential Masculinity from Nixon to Trump," quoted in "Trump, Biden and masculinity in the age of coronavirus" by Matt Viser (WaPo).
Both Biden and Trump are targeting a swath of White working-class voters in the industrial Midwest...
At an anti-sexual-assault rally in 2018, Biden told a crowd at the University of Miami, “If we were in high school, I’d take [Trump] behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.” He later expressed modest regret for the comment. “I’ve been in a lot of locker rooms my whole life,” Biden added. “I’m a pretty damn good athlete. Any guy that talked [the way Trump does] was usually the fattest, ugliest SOB in the room.”
At the time, Trump had a rejoinder. “He is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!”

So, nothing of any substance in your posts today? Nothing new on Dylan? Has Meade racked up his bike for the winter?
What Biden offers is a pandering form of 'masculinity'. Anything to win some votes. He doesn't give a crap about people.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
Where does groping little girls and challenging people to push-up contests fit into that "version of masculinity?"
A survey of Presidential Masculinity would be more interesting if it included HST, Ike, JFK, and LBJ. There's a mixed bag for you.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
Biden has obviously enriched himself and his family for decades with all sorts of deals with foreign companies in exchange for influence at the expense of US tax payers and US security. To me Biden doesn't seem like someone who has a great deal of empathy for the common person. To me he seems to think of the common, working class person as a sucker or rube.
"the American people are stupid and will support anything that sounds good.” - (attributed to Biden, who evidently "bellowed" this at Union lobbyist Stephen Silbiger)
t an anti-sexual-assault rally in 2018, Biden...
Hahahahaha! Was he there looking for pointers?
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
Sounds like a conclusion in search of a justification. Your excerpt below illustrates that. I think the thing with Biden is that he has no centre at all. There is no "real Joe Biden," no there there. He's a corrupt poll who is pretty moderate because he finds that the easiest way to assemble a winning coalition. He himself has no guiding principles.
Julia Louis Dreyfus in Veep has made me even more cynical of politics; I can't help looking for bits of Selena Meyer in every politician and the only one I can think of who has no Selena at all in him is Trump. He's a whole other bag. Joe Biden, on the other hand, is all Selena Meyer.
Right, ‘Pop' Biden is more like one of those fancy mob bosses who doesn’t like to get his hands dirty.
Don’t worry about not following the NYPost story though, I am sure that all of the information from the first broadside from the New York Times and Washington Post and Twitter got all of the information out there, and that none of these proofs of Federal crimes involving Biden dripping out are real. Even though Hunter Biden’s lawyer asked for his hard drive back. Won’t it be fun to have an independent counsel hounding Biden until he is forced to resign?
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
One of those typical leftie empty vessel statements. Not what is but what you wish. And you feel better for it. Superior.
Fuck that shit.
There is nothing about Trump that suggests he is physically tough or strong in the sense of his being "masculine." An aggressive, conniving, lying jackass, yes.
Way too much focus on style.
Of course People who love Trump love his style.
What's to like about Biden's Style? the odd old blankness.. the puppet quality? the 'he's not Trump, good enough' quality?
What matters in this election in principle.
Do you want leftwing lies? Excused antifa thuggery? Biden family corruption?
A corrupt media that shares a bed with Tech Oligarchs who hate Trump so much they are happy to use censorship to get their man elected?
Is that the clever style we need?
Ha, that's funny. Hair sniffing, p*ssy fingering, and f*cked up children isn't what I would call nuanced 21st-century masculinity. What Joe has is an easy going public personality. It is no more indicative of the man than the public personas of John Kennedy or Johnny Carson. Or of Donald Trump, for that matter.
Careful, lest Biden unleashes his Apology Chain.
Another egghead who thinks he’s got masculinity all sussed. Mince away, fop!!!
I'm confused. Was Biden at the 2018 anti-sexual assault rally as an example of an abuser, or was he there to build up the female speakers by pressing up against them from behind and sniffing their hair while they spoke?
As I recall, Trump was actually an athlete. Of course, Joe is/was whatever rolls off his tongue in the moment.
More importantly, check out the aviator shades, the Corvette the plugs and the swagger. There has never been a more pretentious purveyor of the masculine caricature than Joe Biden.
How many more fools can WaPo dig up?
Trumps bad because he's not scared of Uncle Joes threats?

Bullshit alert.
See Joe Biden responding to an Iowa voter here:
https://youtu.be/fbEJpr4A9mQ
The Trump campaign should make an ad of this. Hell Iowa should. I was falling for the argument that Iowa should not get to go first, their argument to retain this—along with New Hampshire’s has been that it is important for voters to get access to the candidates. Force the candidate to do retail politics. The insulation of Biden has proven Iowa and New Hampshire to be absolutely correct. The media has failed American voters.
If you want more of a Biden failing at retail politics see him in action here in Michigan.

(Both sources are The Guardian.btw)
There’s a reason they call a lid on Joe—he can’t control himself.
Biden could be seen as "Pajama Boy." Yes, I could see that as the "21st century model of masculinity." At least for Democrats and maybe suburban women of a certain type.
It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss .
Along with a test for mental acuity, this would seem to suggest that he also get his estrogen levels tested...
More disheartening if you watch the first video— is how Joe inspires the crowd to react.
There is also another angle of the Iowa townhall where kids were watching....their reactions...
Then at the link of the first video even in comments Bernie supporters say that they don’t think even Trump would be that nasty to someone in the audience—as a voter—asking a question.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
WTF? Ah, yes, expressing empathy by pressing female flesh.
But then, progs don't believe their own BS.
a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity.
Meaning: a wimp.
"An aggressive, conniving, lying jackass, yes.”
Could you give me Trump’s biggest, most egregious lie? The one you think is *the* most important out of all of the “lies” he tells. Don’t dodge and say he lies all the time, just give me one, surely there is one that really sticks in your craw.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
LOL Who is the one challenging people to push up contests, saying he would take one "behind the gym", challenging bad dudes like corn pop,....
What a joke. Biden offers a brain of mashed potatoes. A lot of facial work. And a 10th rate VP for when the Democrats shove him out (should he win). I'd love to know his "perk up" cocktail shot recipe. His campaign called "a lid" before 10 am, 4 days this week.
It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss
No, Biden has the "what a dick" form of masculinity.
Biden's laughable bravado is a tell that he really is a bully who talks smack but is soft and weak inside.
That's a lot of words to say 'pussy'.
Pacwest asks: So, nothing of any substance in your posts today? Nothing new on Dylan? Has Meade racked up his bike for the winter?
Nah, so much easier to set up the straw men of articles from NYT and WaPo

Corn Pop could not be reached for comment.

Just saw the Commission's questions for the October 22 'debate'. Not one question on foreign policy? The military? Veterans? The economy? If I were Trump I would just say, "Thanks but no thanks".
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss."
Fan fiction...
...or Alan Alda.
Show me one article in the WAPO where the Republican is compared favorably to the Democrat.
Seriously, even one.
What kind of a man waxes on publicly about his leg hair?
Because that's the kind of man the WAPO needs suburban women to like.

i think, the word you are looking for is: Skirt Boy
Jo Biden is a Skirt Boy
I actually think Trump has an interesting mix of male and female energies. No offense to the ladies, but I regard Trump's pettiness and cattiness as stereotypical female traits. He's emotional, tribal and vindictive, just like a woman.
An aggressive, conniving, lying jackass, yes.
That's exactly the crisp analysis I have grown to expect from leftists.
Mickey Kaus compares or contrasts today's "Petrified Zombie Biden" with the "middle-aged Full-strength Boastful Biden." Biden is trying to make an asset out of his cognitive decline. I've already called his run the "Regarding Henry campaign," after the Nineties film where Harrison Ford, a nasty, egotistical professional, is shot in the head and becomes almost saintly after losing half his IQ.
Biden in his prime wasn't so different from Trump when it came to egotism or narcissism. He still isn't. But in fifty years in politics, he learned how to press the flesh in public and give an impression of empathy and concern, and as his mind goes, he becomes avuncular and even grandfatherly. A young or middle aged man who talks about himself gets labelled a narcissist, egotist, or braggart. Once you get old enough, going on and on about what happened to you 60 years ago can become endearing. Living in Memoryland isn't a great quality for a leader, though.
The Men's Studies approach to political analysis doesn't really wear well. Remember the Seventies talk about Jimmy Carter's "androgeny"?
How times has Biden challenged people to feats of physical strength? 6? 10? 20? How often does President Trump threaten to take a person out back? A number so close to zero it is indistinguishable from zero?
Real masculinity, like real femininity is something you have, or not. Trump has "it". Melania has "it". Biden? Yea he's got "it". The person writing the piece of fiction? noped that's not "it"
Trump is both more masculine and more feminine than Biden! What appeal!!

Trump is both more masculine and more feminine than Biden! What appeal!!
https://althouse.blogspot.com/2016/10/trumps-speaking-style-is-more-feminine.html
I do believe that Biden's finger is aggressively masculine. That's why around Washington hallways he's known as Joe "badfinger" Biden. It's also not well known, but his olfaction is even more powerful than a dog's. He can tell from just one sniff whether or not you are ovulating, or pregnant, or what level of sexual adventurism you prefer or will when you come of age. A truly amazing man.
Trump may be a more caricatured version of masculinity — aggressive, physically tough, physically strong, never back down — but these days his physical affect is an orange-cotton-candy version of Fat Old Queen Elton John. It's probably best Trump doesn't wear track suits.
Come on man. What's more masculine than challenging someone to a push up contest or carrying a chain to your car to ward off the the local gang leader who's carrying a rusty razor?
I actually believe that Biden may have spent a lot of time in locker rooms. So many things to smell!
Yes, B iden is the modern version of 'masculinity' which is to say, not masculine at all!+
Oh Shit Ms Althouse, more corroboration from another source, different emails. I am sure the New York Times will get right on all of these new stories.
From prison, Cooney provided Schweizer with written authorization, his email account name, and password to his Gmail account to retrieve these emails. He authorized, in writing, the publication of these emails— notable because it is the first time a close associate has publicly confirmed Hunter’s trading on his father’s influence.
The emails offer a unique window into just how the Biden universe conducted business during the Obama-Biden Administration. These associates sought to trade on Hunter Biden’s relationship with, and access to, his father and the Obama-Biden White House in order to generate business. - Breitbart [All Althouse approve sources refuse to touch this story.]
Once again, Kate at smalldeadanimals. http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/index.php/2020/10/16/say-it-isnt-so-joe-69/
Clueless Joe
"There is nothing about Trump that suggests he is physically tough or strong.." other than having passed through COVID as a 70+ man, or the myriad witnesses (friend AND foe) who attest to his energy and physical stamina.
If by "nothing" you mean "literally tons of witnesses and statements", then yeah, guess there's nothing about Trump to suggest that.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
No, what Biden is offering is categorically not masculinity.
Protester accessed stage during Trump speech. Secret service guy grabs Trump, Trump throws SS guys arm off as he faces trespasser. Have seen that same move a hundred times in pool halls, bars, and other places where masculine men are about to settle an argument in a primitive manner.
Also, interesting how 100% of MMA fighters who have expressed an opinion related to election back Trump, while single mothers of eight year old transsexuals back joe.
Plus he swims naked!
Tara Reade doesn't think Joe Biden is a "complex 21st-century version of masculinity." Why do you read such obvious bullshit?
If Trump can last more than 90 seconds he wins by a knockout.
Joe's only hope would be to bob and weave and try to remember why he's there in the first place.
Trump played college baseball and was apparently pretty good.
Not exactly unathletic.
Cook. There is nothing about Trump that suggests he is physically tough or strong in the sense of his being "masculine."
Speaking from my point of view as a woman....masculinity doesn't always mean a muscle bound body or the ability to lift up big things. In fact, a muscle bound beach bod is nice to look at, but doesn't necessarily conflate to being a masculine man. Nice to look at, but often useless.
Masculine men are confident in themselves. Capable in what they do be it accounting, mechanics or building. Encouraging and supportive of others. They are action and results oriented. Git'r done kind of guys. Masculine men are someone you can count on. Masculine men are also protective and considerate of others, while being strong emotionally. This doesn't mean unfeeling. It is emotion when appropriate. And especially, refusing to be anyone's doormat or bend for political correct motives.
Winston Churchill is no one's idea of a 'studly' man, however his daring, defiant, protective, brave attitude is definitely masculine. And an inspiration for other.
Joe Biden is the exact opposite of a masculine man. He has all the swagger but none of the guts or fortitude it takes to be a real man. Self serving, conniving, corrupt and INEFFECTUAL. Taking credit for the actions and words of other people because he is unable to do for himself.
You can have one aspect..and strong or you can have the characteristic that I suggest. Both are a bonus...... but if only one, I take the man without the muscular bod.
""Trump is a more caricatured version of masculinity — aggressive, physically tough, physically strong, never back down.""

You having fun with this Ann?
Sucking on this complete drivel? Sticking your head in the sand?
This blog over the last few days has been about as honest as the WAPO or the NYT.
The best part is Ann thinks they wont censor her if she gets out of line like the NY Post.
They already demonetized you too.
Modern Lawyers are in general adverse to critical thinking.

Per pacwest: Yeah, pretty small beer so far. It feels like Saturday here in Jersey, for some reason. Maybe it also feels like Saturday in Madison.
Regarding the topic, such as it is, of this post-- isn't that description of Biden what they used to call "metrosexual"? I confess I'm not up on all this. For all I know "metrosexual" is considered offensive now. The Newspeak Dictionary is constantly revised.
The simple fact--which everyone knows on some level, even if they plan to vote for him--is that Biden is failing mentally, from a level that never inspired much respect or confidence before.
Sure, Obama made him his VP, but those of us who were once managers in competitive industries know that B-managers hire C-subordinates, whereas A-managers hire A-subordinates.
I submit that the latter partly explains the churn amongst the Presidential appointees early in the Trump administration: A-subordinates are hard to find.
My personal experience bears out both branches of this observation on managers.
I will say for Biden, he takes good care of his family.
Rudy Giuliani lays the facts out here. Rudy has the files from the laptop.
Has Joe put a lid on today?
Biden needs to hide from the media because he and his caretakers knew the FBI and others had the contents of Hunter's laptop with thousands of emails providing a roadmap to Biden corruption. The emails support Joe's own public statements about his own corruption. So Joe must hide from any tough questions and any unfriendly media.
Biden's aides need to regurgitate Charlottesville lies and need Trump to continuously renounce white supremacy in the hopes black voters will draw the conclusion they want...need black voters to conclude. Democrats CANNOT afford black voter defectors...
So Biden hides while Trump puts up with the media corruption, meets them on their turf to play their games, looking stronger for the effort...
Onions!
Older videos of Biden show a more energetic person, while in old Trump interviews he is more cool, calm, and collected.
Also, historica vids of Joe when he had brown hair really, really convey the impression he was a real a-hole.
Additionally, his high school tough talk is like the bully with no real skills or the viciousness needed to be an actual dangerous person.
The real bad boys skilled in boxing, wrestling, judo, mma etc., or, on the other hand, psycho enough to sneak up behind you and whack you with a baseball bat and beat your head in while you lay unconscious.
Of course, now days, ya got the lazy psychos who simply shoot you.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity. It’s compassion and empathy and care and a personal narrative of loss ."
Joe Biden is a rapist.
But democrats have already voted for Bill Clinton and he is still a hero.
Democrats love rape. They support rape. They are the party of rape.
Or more accurately daddy issues.
BTW, for me at least, "masculinity" properly understood involves that antique word character, which I define as the demand on oneself to always do the right thing, even if it is difficult and you know that no one is watching.
Biden has never been credibly accused of that, to my knowledge.
"What Biden is offering is a more complex 21st-century version of masculinity."
Oh, yeah! Sounds like this;
'The idea that an 8-year-old child, a 10-year-old child decides, you know, "I want to be transgender, that's what I think I'd like to be, it'd make my life a lot easier" -- there should be zero discrimination.'
Hey look, the FBI has opened an investigation into ... wait for it.. whether this is disinformation.
WASHINGTON— The FBI is investigating whether emails that were published by the New York Post related to Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, are connected to a possible Russian influence operation to spread disinformation, according to a person familiar with the matter. – Associated Press
Why not hop on the Amtrak up to Delaware and have a look at the hard drive today? It’s in the government’s possession. If it’s “disinformation” you can crack this case in a few short hours, and win the election for Biden in one quick blow.
Biden's got that creepy sneak up behind you masculinity.
What Biden is offering is being a metrosexual loser.
No thanks
General John Kelly sums up Trump this way:The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it's more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life," the retired Marine general has told friends,
DBQ @3:41. This woman agrees with you. :-)
What Biden is is a textbook malignant narcissist. He goes around sniffing ladies' hair and nuzzlng their necks because he knows it bothers them, and their discomfort literally calms his amygdala.

It's shit like this that makes me furious.
Along with Hillary destroying her emails and devices under subpoena and walking away free as a bird.
Obama sealing all of his college records.
Clinton and Lynch having a tarmac conversation about grandchildren.
Chelsea 'Wilbur' Clinton getting a $600,000 contract with a news outlet to do about four days of work.
'First we fuck Flynn then we fuck Trump.'
Clapper provably lying to congress under oath.
News outlets winning Pulitzer prizes for a story that never happened.
You get the idea.
Keep your fucking powder dry.
In all my many decades of life I've never seen so many cards stacked against a Presidential candidate much less a President. In the past four years the usual suspects have become more and more blatant about their efforts to take down Trump [and take down America]. I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it served up daily--nay, hourly-- boiled, roasted, steamed, poached and fried by the despicable media and their masters.
Trump's life story is an open book.
Biden's life story is a fabrication, made up stories.
Does anyone really believe Biden ever kicked someone's ass? Maybe with overwhelming back up from a semi-participating group of Catholic school boys, it's how it's done. On the other hand we have eyewitness accounts of Trump leaping from cabs to save people being mugged in NYC.
We know all about Fred Trump, we know nothing about Biden's dad or his wealthy family.
We know Joe and Jill didn't meet on a blind date.
We know Biden's drunk truck driver in the death of Biden's wife was a made up myth. His wife ran a stop sign.
We know Biden's lies concerning his stellar academic and athletic record is a lie.
WE now know he lied about Hunter's grifting.
Sure Biden is a 21st century BS artist.
Well Pajama Boy---maybe. Fredo definitely. Biden as a masculine role model is not an appealing one. For one thing he's forgotten his way to that locker room he's talking about.
They have finally debunked it! Rudy’s daughter is voting for Biden. That proves it’s all lies.
Biden in his prime wasn't so different from Trump when it came to egotism or narcissism.
It never occurred to Biden that millions of people seemed to love him just because he was a Democrat.
The lack of interest when on a stage with lots of other Democrats should have clued him in.
But clued-in was never a Biden state of being.

Protester accessed stage during Trump speech. Secret service guy grabs Trump, Trump throws SS guys arm off as he faces trespasser.
That was a revealing moment. The protestor turned out to be some politicians' son.
Rudy says he has a witness that Hunter was let in the back door to a meeting on the same date that the emails show Biden attended one of these illicit meetings at the White House. That the person brought that information to him a year ago, but he never had any corroboration.
Plus, if you are a rank and file Republican, this stuff falls into your hands, who do you go to? Bannon or Giuliani make perfect sense. You know the New York Times or the Washington Post would bury it, and you might end up sleeping with the fishes sooner than you would like, or you would be afraid that might happen, given the mystery surrounding the death of Seth Rich. Whether those theories are true or not don’t matter, it only matters that the repairman believed them and was afraid.
I think you just don’t want to believe how deeply this rot goes so you turn your head based on rationalizations disguised as ratiocenations.
Biden is the loudmouthed bully. Trump is always in the position of responding to attacks.
"He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life,”
In a Doonesbury strip one time there was a comment about corruption. “If you don’t dip your beak once in a while, nobody trusts you.” I remember one movie where the crime boss said that "the only thing to do with an honest cop is to put him down.” Both these things apply in the case of the elite’s hatred of Trump. Nothing is more scary to them than an honest man.

Biden, the corrupt
Read this, and understand:

"General John Kelly sums up Trump this way:"
We know all about Trump. We have watched him all our lives. Constantly in the news, on TV, now as President for four years. We saw his marriages, we saw his impressive family led by him. We saw his companies and employees under his leadership. Very little has been hidden, because people wanted to find dirt for fame and fortune, and during the last five years that has become the search for the holy grail for thousands if not millions of Trump haters. After all that effort and exposure we have nothing much in the way of real dirt other than somebody's subjective opinion.
We also know a lot about Biden, despite the efforts to hide anything negative, the effort has been the opposite as toward Trump. It's hiding, excusing, and dismissing of some of the worst corruption and dishonesty ever seen in a man. He's been cheating and lying and plagiarizing and sniffing and penetrating his whole career.
Just imagine if Hunter was Trump's son, or Trump plagiarized multiple times to get ahead in his career, or Trump had a charge of digital penetration of a woman at work. That's a perfect example of the difference. What happened to her story? The creepy porn lawyer was on TV over a hundred times over an alleged consensual sexual encounter with a woman who did it for a living.
Trump is the most exposed person who ever was President, and there is nothing much to see except success and love of country.
There is more to the masculine gender than is colored in a bigot's eye.
aggressive, physically tough, physically strong, never back down.
Prudent and bold, yes. That is, however, a masculine and feminine character trait. Physically tough, too. Physically strong, same. Stand your ground... of course, discover your dignity, stand for yourself, stand for others, never kneel. Well, other than before your lady, when asking for her hand in marriage.
This is an interesting comparison.
The point is obscured, of course, as it asserts that these qualities are true, with respect to these two particular men, which most certainly is not correct in several ways. But let us assume it is so.
The alleged Trumpian qualities are real ones - they can be observed and compared between men in all the necessary contests between men, for dominance, for survival, for glory. This is the stuff one can see and hear with ones own eyes and ears. These are the qualities of the athlete and warrior. It all can of course be sung about by some troubador, but the troubadors lies can be checked.
The alleged Biden qualities are not simply perceptions, but stories - "narrative of loss". Its all literature, and HAS to be sung about by the troubadors.
Is this the denouement, the last gasp, following 16 trimesters of witch hunts, warlock trials, protests, and JounoLists spinning tales? Surely, a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing... projecting everything.
It's like the author has a model, and it doesn't matter whether the subjects fit that model at all. Trump isn't the guy who challenges people to fistfights and pushup contests when his amour propre is offended. That's Biden. Trump swans around in suits, famously gold plates everything in his home, has a fake tan, minces in public, and has never engaged in any of the conventional American theater of masculinity (e.g. John Kerry going hunting). He is the least conventionally macho US president in my life.

And this man agrees with both of you women! Well stated, DBQ.
Biden is trash. Just admit it and cleanse your soul, vote Libertarian if you must, but send that sorry sack back to Delaware and his pile of ill-gotten wealth before he harms anyone else. At least you can take comfort that the Ukrainians, Chinese, and God knows who else, won't see any more return on their investments. Assuming that you care.
Enough with this nonentity, already. Life is short.
Chris Wallace is very dubious about the e-mails.
I think he owes Uncle Joe The Godfather a favor or two.
Being a Godfather of a crime family seem masculine to me. Doesn't it?
Joe is what The Godfather would have been if Fredo succeeded him.
tim in vermont @5:14: "Nothing is more scary to them than an honest man." That sums it up quite nicely. The honest man is always made a pariah by the corrupt.
It usually ends badly for the honest man, but in this case he is not alone. And we are armed.
Both Trump and Biden are braggarts.
Biden uses the very real tragedy in his life -- the death of his first wife and baby daughter in an accident and the cancer death of his older son -- to "humanize" himself. John Edwards did the same with the death of his son in a car crash. I think it's supposed to appeal to women.
I believe in their grief, but using it politically is offensive. My brother's death didn't make me a better, or worse, person, nor did it qualify me to be president of the United States.
Here we go again: a "liberal," "progressive" or some other variety of statist using the words "compasssion," "empathy" and "care" to mean "generous with someone else's money." Or: "buying votes with the taxpayer's dollar."
""He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life,”
Does anyone really believe that? Kelly is lying. What he is really saying is that he can't understand how a flawed person could be so successful - a billionaire, with a beautiful wife, a successful, healthy family that loves and respects him, the most famous and powerful person on earth put their by a democratic election, who has accomplished some truely unprecedented things at home and abroad, despite constant attack. Yep, the most flawed person he every met.
Hell, Kamala Harris is more masculine than Joe Biden's shriveled, grandmotherly figure. No small wonder Joe will get pushed down a flight of stairs if they manage to beat Trump. The number one hazard for the elderly is falling in the home.
Biden offers corrupt senility

General John Kelly sums up Trump this way:The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me
Why do you lefties always make these general statements and never with an example?
I know, he exaggerates crowd size and things like that but I want a real lie. Surely you should be able to come up with one.
Joanne Jacobs: here in Georgia we have Lucy MacBath, a Democrat who, judging by her TV ads, is virtually running for office on her dead daughter's coffin. The daughter was killed by gunfire, but instead of making her tough on crime, it has made her tough on peaceful gun owners. The old A attacking B gives C (MacBath) the right to attack (initiate force against) D.
Michael K, remember: there is no truth but socialist truth, comrade.
The Men's Studies approach to political analysis doesn't really wear well. Remember the Seventies talk about Jimmy Carter's "androgeny"?

Feminist Susan Faludi advised Al Gore to wear earth tones during the 2000 campaign to look more alpha male. I know Ann remembers "the Dingall-Norwood bill" moment from the 2000 debates because she has linked to it. Al tried to be a tough guy and it was laughable.
Having failed at projecting traditional masculinity, the Dems successfully went metrosexual in 2008 with Obama. But metrosexual doesn't fit with Biden's phony Joe Lunch Bucket routine.
Joe tries to project masculinity but it doesn't work - not because he's old but because he never really got tangled up with Corn Pop or did anything really, except successfully grift. But the Dems are trying to outlaw masculinity anyway - at least the white male variety - so it's all good.
Joanne Jacobs,
Biden's use of his wife's death is far more shameful than Edward's -- to the best of my recollection, Edwards did not persist in falsely blaming an innocent person in the accident for causing it.
If you are Biden or Trump you go to hospitals and try to look like you care. If people like you and want you there, they will think that you do care. The media like Biden (or at least hate Trump) and Biden's ads and surrogates keep calling him compassionate and empathetic, so the media report that Biden is compassionate and empathetic.
Journalists go to such great lengths to portray the two candidates as the opposites of each other that it obscures there similarities. Sometimes the contrasts really are great: Obama and McCain, Reagan and Mondale, Eisenhower and Stevenson, Truman and Dewey, Roosevelt and Hoover or Landon. Sometimes the differences aren't that great. Why do the Clintons, Bushes and Obamas get along so well? Because they aren't the total opposites that some people take them for. Bush and Gore (and even Bush and Kerry) had more in common than their supporters believed. Harvard and Yale or senator's son and senator's son aren't exactly worlds apart.

IIRC, I think that was Naomi Wolf who tried (unsuccessfully) to butch Gore up a bit.
So, who was the ‘bully’ in that situation? Seems like joe is the failed athlete weakling, who has been told that he won’t amount to anything as an athlete and resents the big bravado guy who has achieved things; he wants to go on the attack ‘just to show them’. He will fail, of course, then accuse the person he attacked as being the bully. This is the leftist way.
Biden is compassionate and caring? LOL! He snaps and snarks at anyone who questions him, it's just the corrupt media downplays it
Look, it's Joe Biden covered in delicious frosting!
It's the first time I've seen irritability-prone senility described as sexy.
Oof, there is nothing more emasculating than having the left defend "your" version of masculinity.
