"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly agreed to film a fly-on-the-wall reality show..."

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were initially expected to only remain behind the camera for their multi-year deal with Netflix.... The pair will allow Netflix cameras to follow them for three months in a 'tasteful' docuseries as they go about their new life in ritzy Montecito, California.... Another source insisted that the docuseries will mostly focus on their 'philanthropy rather than what they get up to behind closed doors,' and it is not clear if cameras will be allowed in their new $14 million mansion.... 'We were told they had gone to California for greater privacy so it all appears rather hypocritical,' Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, told The Sun. 'It is extraordinary. This is exactly what they said they wouldn’t do. The more they talk about themselves the more people will want them to do just that and won’t be interested in anything else they have to offer.'... [Piers Morgan said] 'At what point does the penny drop that she came over here, took our prince and now Mrs. Privacy is making a $150 million fly on the wall documentary where every part of their lives is going to be filmed?'"

From Page Six.

How dumb would they need to be to believe they could be paid $150 million to appear on camera doing philanthropy?! Of course, we must get inside their California mansion. But what will make them interesting in there? Him bumbling about and her running the show? Ha ha. I'm picturing something like Season 1 of "The Osbournes."

ADDED: Here's my post from the Harry-and-Meghan wedding day. I observed the body language:

Did anyone count the number of times Harry touched his face?... ... I don't want to be awful... but Harry kept touching and rubbing his face and I just couldn't help thinking about Harry's mother and what I know about the thoughts that rushed through her head on that day that the world watched her bogus "fairytale" wedding.... You can watch all sorts of couples get married — people congregate to witness weddings — but you can't know what the marrying minds are thinking. Is it wrong to look at the outward signs that there is a big disconnect between the spoken words and real person who is enduring the theatrical ritual?
I was trying to be discreet. In the comments, somebody said, "Can’t we just enjoy a wedding?," and I said:
I don't think it's right to enjoy watching the torment of a human being. So, no. But maybe your observation of human facial expression and body language is something you haven't developed or like to turn off when you're trying to have fun, but that's not me!
Somebody else said, "Let us all aim to spread happiness," and I said:
So it's all about what goal you're hoping to achieve? But even if my main goal were to increase the happiness in the world, I would not believe that the way to do it is to encourage credulous sentimentality about marriage (especially the marriage of royalty).

There is a reason the Royal Family lives in a bubble.

From the Telegraph, a denial:

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to appear on their own reality television show, their spokesman has said, after it was reported they have signed up to a "fly-on-the-wall" series as part of their Netflix deal.

The reported docu-series was to be focused on their work and philanthropy but will still offer viewers a glimpse of their new life in the US, The Sun claim, with cameras following them for three months.

But spokesman for the Sussexes this morning denied the story, saying: “The Duke and Duchess are not taking part in any reality shows.”"

Although he did not rule out a suggestion that the couple would ever make a documentary focused on their work, a source said there are no plans in the pipeline.

I am now convinced that Harry hates the royal family for the way it treated his mother and real father, and is getting his revenge on them. The only royal worse than him is his purported father.

I'm finding it difficult to imagine anything I would want to watch less than a show following around two overprivledged ninnies doing charity work, but given the massive success of other similar reality shows I suspect I'm in the minority.

If you didn't already need more proof, this is yet another example of how fakers are the new royalty.

Prince Harry's (and Prince William's) lineage goes back to Charles II who - while not necessarily a great military commander - at least fought for his crown and managed to escape (hiding in an oak tree) after the battle of Worcester. When he came back to England he then had no fewer than 18 people disemboweled for killing his dad.

8 generations later you've got Harry being led by the nose by a low-born strumpet who's primary acumen is playing something better than herself on TV.

Back in Charles day, the only interaction a man of breeding had with an actress was to use her body as a plaything and go on about one's daily business. You don't wife an actress.

How the mighty have fallen.

The UK had them appearing in a reality show too. So it’s $150M from Netflix v. the occasional libel verdict award from the British tabloids. They probably will get more privacy than they were getting in the UK.

Does that mean that even with good editing, they didn't get any video they thought they could air? Maybe they could get Harry to dig out his old Nazi costume. That could create a little excitement.

Watch The Windsors on Netflix. It's brilliant. They got a new Harry in Season 3, and he's not as good, but the guy in Seasons 1&2 nailed the character.

So many dreary reality shows. I got a glimpse of the Toni Braxton one, and I thought: why the hell would she do this? She's a star, the others are not. So they actually film a conversation. Mom says: your siblings want to do a reality show. They say you have all the money, they have nothing. Toni: But I've already done a lot for them. Mom: I know you have, but surely you could do this one more little thing. Creepy.

I just saw Nick Lachey on TV--a juror on a weird talent show. Years ago he was married to Jessica Simpson; exaggerating slightly, they were about 15 years old. Nick had been in a boy band, but he and Jessica were both solo acts by now. They're at home on the sofa, he's editing a new video of himself--maybe VHS technology. He worries about details, asks for Jess's advice, gets a bit crabby that she doesn't seem to care. Well, she says, it doesn't really matter. Your fans are about 10 years old. True, but maybe not the kind of supportive comment he was hoping for.

An authentic fly-on-the-wall series most likely would not be flattering. Just saw "Weiner", a fly-on-the-wall documentary that followed Anthony and Huma during his campaign for mayor. Couldn't believe how candid it was. He comes off as an asshole without any redeeming qualities and Huma as a meek wife who openly discusses how spin cover stories with him to feed to the press.

And isn't there a law about Americans taking royal titles?

If she is a British subject, it raises a more current question. She says she wants to run for prez. Should a person with dual citizenship /loyalty do this?

It's legal I guess but it don't seem right.

We currently have a Jamaican citizen running for vp and prez. Harris has Jamaican citizenship via her father, American citizenship via Oakland.

Should a dual citizen be running?

I can imagine Meghan nagging Harry to put on some ermine robes or whatever before getting into bed. Might make for some interesting television....The royal family has been boring for hundreds of years, but the BBC dramatists know how to punch things up. I don't think Harry and the Merkler have those skills. They will be boring but not in the reassuring way that Queen Elizabeth has been dull and predictable.

Don't expect the Brits to ditch tradition and dump the royals any time soon. My wife and I recently toured Holyrood, and the royal plates, cups, and other ephemera were flying off the shelves, (also the Scottish Parliament must be the ugliest in the solar system, looks like an expanded Universalist church, ugh). I saw the plates be restocked while we were in line for tickets, twice. Now they might have all been foreign tourists (unlikely) but the demand is there. They are, of course, a tourist attraction, although the queen pissed me off by being at Windsor when we were there years ago, which limited what we could visit.

If you don’t want to look like a total idiot, you could maybe do a little investigation into the whole thing, even if only to satisfy yourself that the press you restrict yourself to is giving you the whole story. But why should anybody explain for the fiftieth time that which you have no interest in hearing.
