1 year olds have a notoriously poor sense of direction so if they did decide to crawl to the US, they would probably get lost.

I would say that if you are a one year old who has crawled unaccompanied from Oaxaca to the U S border you deserve the Ritz Carlton and not the crappy Hampton Inn.

Simple solution. Build camps in the AZ desert. First offense for crossing illegally, catch and release back to wherever you came from (that includes Ireland, Canada, etc.).
Second offense, five years in said camp. Third offense, twenty years. No parole, no early release. We can just keep building more camps if we have to , but I'm guessing we won't.
The opt-out is for anyone of legal age to join the US military. Once they've done a five-year stint, only then will we consider any kind of legal status.

Itinerant workers are great and they are needed. They should be documented and treated well.
