In case you missed it...

I object to the use of children in politics but that was a lot better than this...

And this...

IN THE COMMENTS: Wince said:
Why weren't they shown taking a knee?
Simultaneously, Bob Boyd:
Were they all kneeling?
Which was exactly what Meade said here in real space.

The answer to Wince is: They were shown from the chest up, in the familiar coronavirus-y style of people Zooming from home. That's why it's so funny to ask "Were they all kneeling?"

How did they choose the select few adults past puberty who were shown?

Why weren't they shown taking a knee?

Some of those "children" are pulling a Danny Almonte.

No cages?

Seems like a real missed opportunity.

PHenry said...

Did everyone watching at home have to kneel?

Shawn Levasseur said...

No one said they were all children.

To Ann's point, a performance of the national anthem is far different than a song praising a leader. It may be participating in a political event, but its not making a political statement.

Sebastian said...

Wait, this wasn't done for Dems, was it?

I mean, they don't assume that even the Althouses of America still think they have any respect for the anthem, do they?

Let's do a poll: do you think America is the land of the free?

Temujin said...

There must have been a lot of Democrats around the country kneeling and looking down at the floors of their living rooms while that was going on. I can just see it:

"Oh...oh no. Don't tell me. They're going to sing the damned anthem. Honey!"
"What? What anthem?"
"The National Anthem. You know...the US National Anthem."
"So what?"
"So...we'd better get off the couch. Kneel, honey. Get ready to kneel!"
"What the he...?"
"HONEY...hurry. Get off the couch. KNEEL! LOOK AWAY, QUICK!"
"I hate this country"
"Yeah...me too."

From the twitter comments:

".... Biden's Grandkids leading the Pledge of Allegiance."

Which ones The four....or is it five ones he recognizes, depending on the day of the week, or the sixth one only recognized by the court?

Ann Althouse said...

"Were they all kneeling?"

That's exactly what Meade said.

JAORE said...

Is no one going to object to the Dems singing a RAY-CIST song?

bagoh20 said...

That would be beautiful if the they hadn't spent the last 3 years denigrating the song at every chance. I guess they want it both ways. They piss on it and tell you it's raining, but use children so you won't say anything negative. Nothing fake or manipulative about that.

My first thought too, and that's why it's a dumb play to get moderates. Nobody is buying it.

Yes. What made the Obama video particularly odious was the unrelenting deification of the politician by children in a widely distributed video.

In Trump's case, the girls warmed-up a local Trump rally in cheerleader outfits and who, as far as I can tell, only mentioned Trump once in terms of him defending the values that they celebrated.

The one tweeted by Williamson...a lot of kids in that one. Did Bill Clinton get to approve the 'talent,' if you know what I mean?

His buddy Harvey probably gave him some good tips on casting...

Michael K said...

That will be the last time the Democrats show the national anthem.

Bob Boyd said...

That Meade is sharp as a tack.

PHenry said...

It's just more gaslighting. "See, we love and respect the national anthem, we have KIDS singing it! How dare they call us unpatriotic." Pay no attention to what you see happening all around you!

LYNNDH said...

One, it was Political.
Two, the Dems don't really mean it.

Narayanan said...

what do kids get a chance to do more often :
- sing the anthem or
- cheer leading squad practice?

asking for USA culture and kids

mikee said...

Where did the Dems find so many supposedly Democratic kids under their control who were willing to sing this song without threats being used?

So was this filmed for the Democrats on Epsteins's pedophile island under the direction of famed flesh whistle player and intern's oral conductor Bill Clinton?

I can't believe, with the field of red, white, and blue shirts, that they just plastered them in at random. When they started to pull back, I expected that the pattern of colors would make either a flag or a BIDEN sign or some other message, like a heart.

That would have been really slick.

Maybe one of the lefties here can explain why Joe has adopted all the policies of the people he beat in the primaries. To state it another way, he WON the primaries opposing Medicare for all and the GND, but is now running on implementing them. Tell me how this helps him win middle America.

Drago said...

How many of these children did Dementia Joe..you know...."nuzzle"...?

Trashcan O Man said...

This is blatantly transparent gaslighting of the worst kind. Democrats hate the national anthem (Colin Kaepernick, anyone); they hate the history of America (didn't Democrats just pull down the statue of Francis Scott Key, as well as the founding fathers?); and they especially hate teaching children to sing the national anthem (isn't that indoctrination into the systemic racism and oppression of white supremacy?) The bottom line is that Democrats think their audience is stupid and will fall for this tripe.

n.n said...

Singing our national anthem is a refreshing departure.

As for the other two, while Obama is the focus in one, America is the focus in the other.

They should have gone with cat videos.

Every once in a while Democrats have to make a pretense of patriotism, to fool the rubes. This year it probably won’t work.

Bunkypotatohead said...

It's OK when we sing it.

Joanne Jacobs said...

I was puzzled by the inclusion of adults, all of whom seemed to be black males. Are they saying that black men are children? Did someone not get the memo about finding a kid who can sing?

Yes, I noticed, and good point. But Meade, was the kneeling to "BLM" or a 'Mailbox'.
