August 30, 2020

"[A]t a virtual gathering of the National Guard Association of the United States, a group he addressed while speaking against a backdrop of American flags, with a flag pin affixed to his suit lapel," Biden asserted "I’ll never use the military as a prop."

"I promise you, as president, I’ll never put you in the middle of politics, or personal vendettas. I’ll never use the military as a prop or as a private militia to violate rights of fellow citizens. That’s not law and order. You don’t deserve that."

Quoted in "Biden, Speaking to National Guard Group, Takes Aim at Republican Criticism on Crime/The Democratic presidential nominee hit back at attacks delivered at the Republican National Convention" (NYT).

Some day, I hope there will be movies on big screens with an audience full of living breathing human beings. I hope to sit amongst the fortunate people of the future one day. I hope to gaze upon a dramatization of the 2020 campaign for President of the United States. I hope the scene described is in the movie, and the line is used verbatim. I see us all laughing quite heartily.

What a line! It's almost on the level of "Gentlemen! You can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"

Using the military as a prop, Joe Biden said "I’ll never use the military as a prop." That's rich.

In the middle of politics, Biden promised this military group, "I’ll never put you in the middle of politics."

Expressing his personal vendetta against President Trump, Biden told the group "I’ll never put you in the middle of... personal vendettas."

"You don’t deserve that," he observed, giving them exactly what he's saying they don't deserve.

Was Joe using a teleprompter

Were the guardsmen there voluntarily?

Did Joe take any questions?

Editorial note: Every commenter here exposes themselves to more questions and feedback every day than Joe has done in months. Us for President!

That investigation into the graft he set up in Ukraine for his bagman son Hunter sure seems to stick in his craw.

No need for the Guard when you have the FBI, DoJ, CIA, IRS, and the youth of America on BLM.

Democrats are much better at projection than introspection.

The NYT is babbling about Joe Biden babbling on Zoom before the National Guard!

It's a double-hearsay political babble fest.

Is this the same Joe Biden who loved to tell that story about giving a remorseful Navy Captain in Afghanistan a bracing man-to-man talk and a shoulder to cry on?

My first comment repeated something in the post. Shall delete when it shows up - or you can feel free to do so.

I have no knowledge of Joe Biden's mental state, vis-a-vis dementia, but when I look at his history of misspeaking, plagiarism, and being 180 degrees off of every foreign policy issue during his political career I can only conclude that he is really not very bright. Did it really not occur to him that he is doing exactly what he says he will never do? If not then maybe he is suffering the sort of mental decline from dementia, in addition to being a dope.

Another data point to hopefulness- Martha Coakley who was shrink wrapped and vacuum sealed and social distanced from voters. At an historically critical moment in leftie history, when lefties needed her most, leftie voters rejected her. There were many reasons why but the absence of retail politics has been judged critical.

Even Hillary, alone with her thoughts, probably knows how important it is...

Vive La Revolution de Trumpe. Biden is only going to get a sympathy vote for elder abuse. And the stuffed ballots by Dem criminals will not be enough.

Biden is an angry dementia patient who is gaslighting the military. What a candidate!

Ann and Meade have become one and the same! Wonderful. That's what a marriage should be.

Now if they would just vote the same...

In a 47- state landslide some millions of fraudulent mail-in ballots won't make any difference. We will celebrate Trump's victory starting Nov. 4th and will continue until all the domestic terrorists are wiped off the face of this great nation. Watch out BLM and antifa, yer about to get what you deserve.

Althouse, save yourself time and trouble. Assume bad faith and hypocrisy in Dems, then report anything that sounds halfway honest. Doesn't leave you much blogging material, I realize.

2016 would make a great movie. You have the plucky little guy, hated by both parties. He is up against the conniving politician who is too big and important to fail, who hires foreign people to create a "dossier" against him, who is constantly stabbed in the back by his erstwhile friends. He pushes back and back, but his cause looks hopeless. You even have the scene where the villain celebrates early, as there's reports Clinton popped champagne before polls closed on the East Coast.

Then... he starts winning. Slowly at first, and then, the little guy wins! The dynastic politician loses!

But... too bad Trump is a Republican, or we'd have had dozens of such hero stories written.

Ya gotta love the Dems' campaign strategy:

1. Keep Biden in the basement.
2. Riot in the streets.

Biden always had a blindspot, across the board, whenever it came to applying his professed standards to himself. He just doesn't see it, or chooses not to.

Isn't the speech to the national guard, promising not to use the national guard as a prop, using them as a political prop? It is a political speech.

Below O-6, I agree. I do have concerns about the upper ranks. How are those REMFs going to get promoted with no wars? The Royal Navy used to have a toast to "Bloody Wars and Sickly Seasons." This may be what is driving the Mattis level officers.

Q to ponder (- what I thought even then) -

- how many USA soldier lives could have been saved if Obama had simply doxxed Osama - let the Pakistan and their ISI handle the fall-out ?

(The Inter-Services Intelligence (Urdu: بین الخدماتی استخبارات‎, abbreviated as ISI) is the premier intelligence agency of Pakistan, operationally responsible for gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information from around the world.)

- may I suggest that is Trump's style of thinking too
