ADDED: That was a very charming exchange between Trump and Mariano Rivera. Trump made it personal, with detail about Rivera, and Rivera did what most players do when interviewed, which is to move away from himself and speak of baseball in general.

This is the baseball picture that has me irked today.
I hope Fauci is enjoying his mask-dropped day in the sun.
Thank you, Hayne...
Love baseball, glad it's back, but not a fan of these kneeling political sycophants. Makes them look like cowardly sheep.
Rivera is one of the all-time greats of the game, both on and off the field. This- from a lifelong Yankee hater. You know great when you see it.
Trump's throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium? Will the CGI crowds shout CGI boos?
Baseball has fewer concussions than football, but is soooo much slower than basketball. Both football and basketball make for better gambling than baseball. And we won't compare any of the three to international soccer, because we aren't a mob of hooligans. Hockey? Nah.
Baseball will do for a lazy summer day's time wasting. But the players: they'll all have COVID in a month.
How refreshing it is to have an American President celebrate our culture again. Those Kenyan-Indonesian Marxist-Muslim destroyers of America just don’t seem to get it right.
Gotta love Mariano, a classy, classy guy.
Fox is to add GCI crowds for realism.....
CGI the new favorite toy for inventing things that never were.
So many thoughts....
Can they have that ONE voice that seems to penetrate the general roar of the crowd?
How about the guy who gets an obscenity on air via the crowd mike?
Will the CGI crowd heckle the umpires?
More importantly, why not CGI the teams? Pencil necked geeks in Mom's basement can control video players. Balls and strikes by CGI umps. The CGI crowd goes WILD!
Think of the hundreds of millions saved in player salaries. Think of the billions saved from not needing ball parks.
Amazon can deliver popcorn and hot dogs to your home via drone.
Life just gets better every day.
Better yet,let the "teams" assemble players from any era. Jackie Robinson, Mays, Mantle, Stan the Man....
Hell when you can field [City Name Here] Baseball team, we could have year round playoffs.
What could go wrong?

Like most Americans I hate the Yankees. But Rivera is one of the classiest guys in all of sports.
Enter the Sandman. He don't need no stinking mask!
Waiting for Biden to come out of his basement and talk unscripted about anything at all.
Trump was never going to be a pro player but apparently was good enough to have some MLB scouts take a look. You can tell he knows and loves the game.
For me, I'm tired of politics in sports. I played golf Wednesday (played terrible) with one of my best friends in the world. He might be the nicest man I've ever met. But he is very liberal and sometimes starts going on to another liberal in the foursome about Trump, Covid, taxes, etc. during the round. I just walk away.
I'm out there for the sunshine, the jokes, the beer, and the occasional birdie. I can do politics any time.
Rivera. The best closer ever. EVER!!!
Garrett Morris needs to be cancelled for "Bezball bin berry berry goot to me".
We are not allowed to laugh anymore, but it was funny watching a 79 year-old, non-athlete Fauci throw a baseball. Government science, not baseball, was very very good to him.
What a great interview and discussion. Trump truly loves sports. I think he played Baseball in High School.
Here's the deal re baseball. We love it, we learned from our Dads how to play it, we collected, organized and traded baseball cards, and we taught it to our sons and daughters on the street, playing catch outside the house.
We don't need the Major Leagues. If woke millionaires are that cowardly and wanna join the leftwing herd -- hey, so be it.
But I can still get the old glove out, go to the park, coach little league and play catch. Don't need to spend a fortune at the stadium for overpaid weenies, who makes millions playing a kid's game.
Batter up!
The Lord gave me that pitch, referring to his talent for throwing bat-shattering ones. Nice. But I suspect lots of practice and good coaching helped a bit, too.
What I love about Baseball; it's the most intergrated professional sport in America. Every culture with a baseball tradition is represented in the major leagues. And not only that; you can be a brown Panamanian like Mariano Rivera, or bi-racial guy from New Jersey like Derek Jeter, or Japanese like Hideo Nomo, or a hillbilly like Madison Bumgarner and still be a star.
But nobody every talks about that.
(eaglebeak)
Like most admirers of greatness, I love the Yankees, winners of 27 of the 115 World Series played so far.
Time for them to win again.
Trump's short campaign video (of this event) with the kids playing catch and the president joining in and a little music in the background is my favorite.
I know this for an absolute fact: Trumo will look better throwing his pitch than Obama did when he threw out a first pitch. It was cringe-inducing. Much worse than his basketball shooting exploits, which were abysmally bad in results and style.

I am seeing Trump throw like trans-RUSSIA GIRL
The Yankees embody excellence. 27 World Series wins. 13 runner up finishes.
Players don’t get their names on the backs of the their jerseys. Just the numbers.
Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Berra, Ford, Rivera, and Jeter.
The reason some fans hate the Yankees is because they can buy many of the best players in free agency or trades. Players like Gerrit Cole and Stanton. But so can the Red Sox, Dodgers, and Cubs. They are by far the wealthiest teams.
But those three franchises together are nowhere near what the Yankees are.
Trump played baseball at the Virginia military prep school he went to in high school. He is in their athletic hall of fame. He must have been a decent baseball player.
Looks like POTUS and I have one thing in common...love of Yankees and Rivera. He will handle first pitch fine, but there is something about the way he stands. As for the way he chats about baseball, reminds me of Nixon making conversation.
Any time that “Trump and baseball” comes up, this Slate story is obligatory:

Trump’s self-proclaimed myth about his high school baseball talent.
"I know this for an absolute fact: Trumo will look better throwing his pitch than Obama did when he threw out a first pitch."
Was Obama wearing his mom jeans when he did it? : )
I remember the TV clips of the big O shooting hoops with some kids I think. It took him ten shots before he sunk one. When he emerged like a modern-day god from the surf of Hawaii, the press swooned at his athletic build. They even showed supposedly 'covert' video of him lifting weights at some hotel. What a man! Except he wasn't even lifting what the teenage girls lift at my gym...
The press is broken...
But those three franchises together are nowhere near what the Yankees are.

FIFY.
Hey everyone I'm here with - uh - this is Robert Clemens...the greatest halfback since...Marco Andretti. We're here, here - this team of little guys, little boys...Little League. You were great in the mound. I watched TV. I had to, that's how we were raised! I remember I saw you pitch those cracked bats into the roof, that's how it was just me and Obama making the world a better place. I bet they never thought I would be standing here talking to Dwight Goodwin.
Thank you Mr. Biden, very kind. My name is Mariano Rivera. We met 10 minutes ago.
At least Trump knows how to throw a baseball. Democrat pols (including Fauci) throw baseballs as if baseball is some alien game they were just introduced to 5 minutes ago.

Yes. And a devoted Christian and a good and decent man.
He's what sports heroes should be and seldom are.
Will the left try to cancel Mariano too? Oh noes, another Latino committing the crime of being friendly with Trump!
"In August 2018, he co-hosted a fundraiser dinner for the America First Action PAC with Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle.[316] In response to a Daily Beast article criticizing his politics, Rivera defended himself and affirmed his support for President Trump, saying: "I respect him, I respect what he does. I believe that he's doing the best for the United States of America." Rivera said that his friendship with Trump predated his presidency and that he would not "turn [his] back on him"."
Kick him out of the HOF!

Yep. And that's exactly why - after 46 years as a fan - they've joined my shitheap along side the NFL and the NBA.
If I learned anything over the last four months it's that I don't need professional sports. They can all go to hell.

It should be noted his pitch went wildly Left. Of course, so lacking in self-awareness yet fully confident, clearly felt no need to practice.
Mccullough @ 11:56 AM, I agree. As I lifelong Yankee 'hater', I admit to admiring their standards of excellence. And they have 'class', one might say, if one were to use that expression. ;-) My mother recommended Joe Torre's autobiography and it revealed many of the reasons why the Yankees has been so outstanding decade after decade. Of course, I still root against them. Unless they're playing Boston. I really hate Boston.

It helps when another professional baseball team acts as a second Yankee's Player Development vehicle.
And yes, I'm speaking about the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland Athletics.

F'ng Mariano Rivera. I knew it! I KNEW that guy was a white supremacist! Sitting there palling around with the Racist In Chief! I. Literally. Can't. Even!
Seriously, though, MLB get can get f*cked, just like the NFL, NBA, women's soccer and all the woke fags who shit on a country that pays them millions to play a f'ng game.
From LLR-lefty and antifa fanboy Chuck's own link to Trump hating Slate:
"As far as I can tell, McCann never spoke publicly about Trump’s baseball career.
But Dobias was not the only person vouching for Trump’s talent. The guy Trump supposedly tried to throw out of a window is also a corroborating witness. “He could have probably played pro ball as a pitcher,” Levine told Business Insider. “I think he threw 80 miles an hour. I was the catcher. He made my hand black and blue every day.”
When you read the entire article you see quite a few items that puts Chuck's lies in full focus (Again!)
Key point: Trump was Co-Captain of the baseball team. He played First base, pitcher and catcher. He batted in the top of the lineup.
Now contrast that with the complete fellating LLR-lefty Chuck gave "athlete" obambi who couldnt even make the starting lineup of his high school B-ball team, throws a baseball like a 4 year old girly girl, and once missed about 20 shots in a row, including layups, on camera.
LOL
This slow moderation means never having time to correct my typing errors. So please just overlook them and I'll overlook yours. ;-)
It helps when another professional baseball team acts as a second Yankee's Player Development vehicle.
Yes, the Seattle Mariners were the Yankees' farm team for years.
What Trump might have mentioned if he was such a Fascist tyrant hate-monger is that Mariano was the first man ever to be voted into Cooperstown unanimous. And that was as a closer!. Even Jeter got in with one vote shy of unanimous.
-Krumhorn.
walter observes: It should be noted his pitch went wildly Left.
:-D Of course!
That pic of the President tossing a baseball with Mariano Rivera is priceless. It's clear he was delighted to have a little fun. The look of joy is incredible.
As a Red Sox fan, I always feared seeing Mo Rivera come to the plate, even while I loved watching him pitch. I remember Opening Day in 2005 was against the Yankees at Fenway. The entire ballpark gave him a standing ovation and he tipped his cap in appreciation. Class Act. His unanimous induction is well deserved.
