Big Mike said...: Over in Portland a bunch a bunch of rioters surrounded a white SUV. The driver pulled a gun and fired off some rounds into the air, which seems to have clarified the situation for the rioters. What’s strange is that the person making the cellphone video claimed to have seen the driver sharing some brews with the rioters — beforehand, I assume.

Reminds me of a story told by I guy I used to shoot with. Deceased now. In 1968 he was down in the District of Columbia for a meeting. When he came out the city was burning and rioters were roaming the city looking for white guys to beat up in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. He told me he had a little Beretta .25 acp in his car — absolutely illegal in DC! — so when three black youths approached him as he was getting into his car he pulled it from his glove box, pointed it at the bridge of the nose of one of them, and said “Please don’t make me use this.” They didn’t. I don't don't understand why 90% of the US does not have Kung Flu under these diagnoses.

It's kind of like AIDS in Africa back in the 90s. Remember? Everyone had AIDS, it spread heterosexually and was going to break out worldwide any moment now.

It made a great story to get money but the problem was the diagnoses. WHO said that anyone having a couple of symptoms that were common to a 1000 diseases in Africa was to be diagnosed with AIDS. Symptoms included, IIRC, nausea, lack of appetite, diarhea, fever. In other words, what most Africans have normally.

I've watched the British version 3-4 times. Ep 4 dragged a bit but the first 3 were superb.

I watched a few episodes of the American version, first season. It didn't really do anything for me. Just seemed like regular US television, churned out by the yard. Stale acting and stale storylines.

I think that the place where you went astray there is with your assumption that “nobody” owes anybody anything, etc. that isn’t what is going on at all. Rather, what they fought for was that the government was significantly circumscribed in what it could demand or require. There has always been a significant amount of community stricture, but at a low enough level, that you can easily vote with your feet, if you don’t like the local strictures.

I can see though why the left has a problem with the concept of limited government. The whole purpose of socialism whether it be Marxist fascist, etc, is creating what is supposed to be a better society through government action. Thus controlling government, by any mans possible, is critical to their success. If government is powerful enough to make you wear a mask, it is powerful enough to make you do anything.

At the site, I was asked why I was there and I explained that there was a possibility of exposure but I felt fine. They agreed I was asymptomatic. So - another case in Wisconsin - adding to the soaring total requiring masks and, possibly, another lockdown plus schools being closed in the fall. Sorry.; 7/12/20, 11:28 PM
