"Roy Den Hollander was a self-described 'anti-feminist' lawyer.... [H]e openly seethed against a federal judge in New Jersey, Esther Salas..."

"... whom he described in a self-published, 1,700-page book as 'a lazy and incompetent Latina judge appointed by Obama.'... Mr. Den Hollander, 69, identified with a broader movement of men who in often abusive, misogynist and hateful language rail against 'feminazis.'... Mr. Den Hollander had a long history of filing lawsuits against programs that he believed favored women. In 2008, he told The New York Times that his anger toward feminists stemmed from his bitter divorce from a woman he married in Russia. He called women 'the real oppressors' in a 2008 Fox News appearance and wrote online about his grievances against female judges.... In 2008, he accused Columbia University of trying to establish feminism as a 'religion' at the school through its women’s studies program and proposed creating a men’s studies program that could 'train males to recognize and handle the power females often use to manipulate them.'... 'The future prospect of the Men’s Movement raising enough money to exercise some influence in America is unlikely,' he wrote. 'But there is one remaining source of power in which men still have a near monopoly — firearms.'... 'The only problem with a life lived too long under Feminazi rule,' he said, 'is that a man ends up with so many enemies he can’t even the score with all of them.'"

From "‘Anti-Feminist’ Lawyer Is Suspect in Killing of Son of Federal Judge in N.J./Roy Den Hollander had openly seethed against the judge, Esther Salas. After the shooting at her home, he was found dead in an apparent suicide" (NYT).

He hated female judges so he shot two men? Makes sense, I guess.

The old lone shooter trick. As usual the setup is a nut case dressed as a right wing crank. Kudos to the CIA team. This will spotlight the red forPresident Hillary Clinton to guard women from an imaginary sea of men out to shoot Feminists. Go Hillary, go.

So he went to her house and shot the men there?

iowan2 said...

I heard they identified the shooter...then found him dead from self inflicted gun shot wounds. "suicide"

Why can't I take this as factual? An attack on a federal judge, and we get an answer of "suicide". The govt lies to the public all the time.

Oh well, I'll crank the tin foil hat down a little tighter and carry on.

There's a wide, wide spectrum of crazy out there. If this news makes you feel unsafe, examine the numbers and take comfort in the position of this twisted specimen of angst on the far edge of crazy.

He was real. He was rare. He was way out there.

What chills me is the possibility this becomes some kind of model. What did you think when you first heard of the phenomenon of suicide bombing? I thought, "...this is pathological but this is India, it could never happen here."

Hmmm... I'm getting that same chill. It must be the times. Or the Times.

Glad I'm old.

This will now be blamed on Rush Limbaugh, who coined the term “feminazi” about 30 years ago.
Obviously his fault.

This is exactly the scenario of the insurgency I was expecting for the initial stages.

"Lone Wolf", self motivated murderers, especially people like this, with nothing to lose, as it seems he was recently diagnosed with cancer. It is always the marginal, the disturbed, who are the leading edge. The pattern is common.

This is, by the way, the model of the likely tactics of the (possible) coming guerrilla war. It will be a war of murders, using pistols mostly, because of their ubiquity and many advantages. All those "black rifles" are redundant.

As for why he was shooting only men (he probably is responsible for an earlier murder with the same method, posing as a Fedex man), there may be some residual but curdled gallantry involved. A womans men are the traditional targets of one who has a beef with her.

My hit list included two judges and two cops, but after a while it didn't seem like it was worth the effort, especially since they have to continue to live with themselves and I don't.

And then there is this from a link on Scott Adams Twitter feed: Similarly, Roy Den Hollander previously worked for a New York firm has been described as a “private CIA” with ties to those countries’ intelligence agencies and, also, ties to Deutsche Bank.

So lemme see. This whackjob goes to Russia to get himself a body slave, it doesn’t pan out so he nurses myriad grudges until he figures out a way to “get even” with a judge he sees as a quota hire. So he causes her a lifetime of pain by killing her son and attempting to kill her husband. Got it.

Roy Den Hollander's web site details three cases he brought.

The first involved "Ladies' Nights", where, per the Second Circuit dismissing his claim:

bars and charge males more for admission than females or give males less time than females to enter the Nightclubs for a reduced price or for free. Den Hollander, who was admitted to the Nightclubs under this admission regime, attributes these pernicious “Ladies’ Nights” to “40 years of lobbying and intimidation, [by] the special interest group called ‘Feminism’ [which] has succeed in creating a customary practice . . . of invidious discrimination of men.” Den Hollander filed suit, on behalf of himself and others like him, alleging violation of his equal protection rights pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

A couple thoughts come to mind:

1.) Why did he bring this suit as a "state action" claim under federal law Sec. 1983 instead of state public accommodations law? The court ruled and he lost exclusively on the state actor requirement. Seems to me as a lawyer there's a lot more money to be made litigating multiple, individual discrimination claims under state public accommodations law against private businesses than with the grand gesture of federal civil rights class action arguing bars are state actors.

2.) Was RDH simply ahead of his time on progressive gender issues? Seems to me in the current climate these "gender" equity issues would receive an even more sympathetic hearing today under state public accommodations law than ever before.

Similar to the left, as well, there was what might be considered "critical legal theory" underlying his writing. In other words, a belief that the courts had a preordained destination to arrive at and used the artifice of impartial law to arrive there and thwart his righteous claims.

This trilogy of lawsuits for men's rights makes clear that there are now two classes of people in America: one of princesses--females, and the other of servants--males. Governments, from local to state to federal, treat men as second class citizens whose rights can be violated with impunity when it benefits females. Need I say the courts are prejudiced, need I say they are useless, need I say it’s time for men to take the law into their hands?

"[H]istory shows that people have a way of not being willing to bear oppressive grievances without protest. Such protests, when bottomed upon facts, lead almost inevitably to an irresistible popular demand for either a redress of those grievances or a change in the Government." Communist Party v. Subversive Activities Control Bd., 367 U.S. 1, 167 (Justice Black dissenting).

I would say, that this person was a victim of feminism's claim that the interests of men and women are fundamentally at odds. Like mathematicians abstracting a relationship to its full, logical extent, Leftist political theorists have come to understand that a working society can be attacked at any of its articulations. Wherever two or more people work in concert, the politics of envy pioneered by Marx can be used to convince at least one of them that he would be better off in conflict. Sometimes you can convince both of them.

well said and succinct. What you said is also the basis of John Rawls Theory of Justice which leads to Totalitarian Society.
Conflicts of Men's Interests

In a free society, one does not have to deal with those who are irrational. One is free to avoid them. In a nonfree society, no pursuit of any interests is possible to anyone; nothing is possible but gradual and general destruction.

There are approved enemies, and women aren't one of them.
If it were a woman who had bee mistreated by men all her life, or a black man mistreated by white men all his life, there would be some in elite circles who would empathize with them. But not him.

Me? Screw this guy. He nursed a grudge and let it warp his thinking. Choosing this path lead to evil. I'm not going to excuse it, but I'd like to point out that there are a lot of people running down this path with far more popular grudges.

Very ordinary for a Russian woman to use her body as her own special brand exit visa/Green Card in this way. Marry a foreigner, get residency or citizenship, divorce, world's your oyster.

This is true. There is the counter-argument that there aren't any American women worth marrying. Seems I didn't have a problem finding one. And I wasn't even really looking- so it could be she found me.
