“The Trump administration on Thursday released new requirements for states to report coronavirus data based on race, ethnicity, age and sex...”

“... of individuals tested for the virus, in an effort to respond to demands from lawmakers for a better picture of the pandemic.... The new guidelines came as Dr. Robert R. Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, faced a barrage of questions from House lawmakers at a health subcommittee hearing about his agency’s often halting response to the pandemic, and what some members of Congress said was its failure to anticipate the pandemic’s effect on black and Hispanic communities.“

The NYT reports.

The New York Fucking Times...

Women and Minorities hardest hit!

Wow, brave of them to publish such a counter cultural, thought provoking piece.

Bravo NYT.

Whites and Asians don't count. I refuse to read the NYT. Unless otherwise corrected every House lawmaker must be a Democrat.

Data accuracy needs to precede granularity.

"...what some members of Congress said was its failure to anticipate the pandemic’s effect on black and Hispanic communities.“

Disparate impact forecasting on general populations is a far cry from the direct cause and effect of forcing positive patients into nursing homes.

If only they had done that from the beginning. The response to this pandemic could’ve been so much better. Live and learn.

That virus is RACIST! Its not the Cornavirus - its the Hitler virus. Of course, the whole reason for having all the racial data is to launch lawsuits and get extra Federal and State money for this or that Black/Hispanic non-profit organization.

Here's my idea of how to solve racism in America. We give every black person $5 million dollars. And in exchange, they give up the right to vote - forever.

Trump giving into those wishing to divide us by race, ethnicity, age and sex. Do these people even know what "pandemic" means as they keep saying it? The prefix "pan" literally means all!

It rings a bit hollow to be worried about the virus's impact on minority communities after all the protests that just happened.

Just what's needed- make things even more political. I'm sure that'll help.

Are we still using the Democrats' Jim Crow era "one drop" rule on racial identity politics, or are we using the current fad of self identifying as whatever you want to be, from anime character to sexually amorphous sentient lava? While I'm asking rudely, the question is valid: what are your definitions of race and are they scientifically valid for the purposes of this data acquisition?

So the study claiming that hydroxychloroquine is hazardous looks like it was hoax and has been retracted.

...and what some members of Congress said was its failure to anticipate the pandemic’s effect on black and Hispanic communities.

1. "Some members" would be Democratic members. The writer conveyed LESS information without using fewer words. The flag that indicates clumsy partisan reporting.

2. "(Women and) minorities hardest hit" is a cliche mocked everywhere but among leftist partisans, who still earnestly employ it. Basically, everything that is bad hits the poor harder. Normal people understand this and don't feel compelled to exploit it.

Just wondering what the percentage representation of these communities is/was in the nursing home population in general, especially in the blue states with compulsory return policies in effect. If they were represented in something like their proportions in the general population you might not learn much, but if they were overrepresented in nursing homes and AL setups that might account for some element of the groups' respective mortality rates.

I had this discussion with my doctor yesterday. the county where I live in MD has horrible numbers, yet I don't know anyone who's had the virus. Most of my friends don't know anyone who;s had it. So, who's getting sick?

Well, there are the old folks' homes. But, mostly, outside of that, it's the Latino community, of which there are a lot. What are the reasons? Multi-generational households, work or no pay jobs, health care by emergency room visit as a matter of course, and, I might add, a very different culture of personal risk assessment. One small example, my buddy who worked at DoJ once saw out the window a Latino construction working on a demolition project across the street. The guy was leaning out a window holding on to the window sill with one hand while jackhammering off an overhanging piece of concrete with a jackhammer at the end of his fully extended other arm. Something like 3 out of 4 pedestrian fatalities in the county are Latino. Drive for a while & you'll see why.

I've got lots more examples where those came from.

These requirements will make the lies the shutdown hoaxers too obvious to ignore.

They stuffed nursing homes with COVID-19 patients and shut down schools.

It is time for Andrew Cuomo to face justice for the 10000 elderly in nursing homes he killed.

Whitmer is still putting COVID-19 positive people in nursing homes in Michigan to this day.

Are you helping?

This is great news. FINALLY we can begin to elucidate the unique profile of those suffering from Wu Flu. Maybe it’s transgender autistics with familial deafness and a second-degree paternal ancestor from the Trobriand Islands. Key stuff here.

I've heard of Robert Redfield. He was in All of the Men of the President with Destin Huffman.

Oh, for fuck's sake. Not this again. Now watch the virtue signalling about how it is racist to try to collect the new data. Just recognize you are in a no win situation with these morons and tell them to go pound sand.

"So the study claiming that hydroxychloroquine is hazardous looks like it was hoax"

Of course it was a hoax. None of the anti-HCQ studies were to be believed. Every one either omitted a key ingredient of the cocktail (gotta get dat zinc up in here) or used fairly healthy control patients and "death's waiting room" patients for the HCQ. Many did both.

This was propaganda to suppress a successful treatment because one man that many people have an irrational hatred for suggested it might be worth further study and trials.

He said that because doctors treating patients were getting spectacular, almost unbelievable results with this simple, cheap treatment. And we know that because there were numerous interviews and videos and written statements about it from doctors who have zero reason to lie about what's saving lives in their hospitals.

That man was Trump. TDS was virulent enough that sacrificing lives to make him look wrong was totes worth it.

Because leftists are pathetic and immoral. They have other undesirable qualities too, but that's a really long list.

1. Gather data.
2. ???
3. Profit!

Fantasy thinking.

His endorsement had the effect of politicizing scientific questions that normally would have been left to dispassionate researchers.

The media politicized everything about the virus because getting Trump was their top priority.

It's getting so that a person can't believe anything, and I mean anything, that is presented as information for the public good. It is all, ALL, politicized. This is going to cause many deaths eventually.

We covered HCQ months ago. It's already been approved by the FDA for over 50+ years. Doctors are allowed to prescribe drugs for "off-label" use - and do it a lot. HCQ's already been determined to be safe - whether it works for Covid-19 is a separate issue.

I'm hip YH! The City of Phoenix had to do a major ad campaign to get the word out that they were closing the city parks on Easter Sunday during the lockdown. Large family picnics in the park at Easter is a long tradition with the Mexican community.

I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be worried about what race people are who either get or die from the virus.

Except to satisfy liberals need to view everything through the prism of race.

Michael K said...

It is a serious theory, not politics, that blacks have a variation in the ACE2 receptor that makes them more susceptible.

There are a few articles, but when race is added to the search nothing come up.

Quite a few on Chinese ACE receptor. Hmmm./

I drove from my GA home back up to my NE TN home yesterday. I was hoping to get some really beautiful strawberries when I got here. But the regions largest producer shut down production yesterday and pulled all the inventory from their retail stands when nearly their entire (Mexican) workforce tested positive for Covid-19. All but one were asymptomatic.

In the general population of NE TN rate of infection, hospitalizations, and deaths have been very low. My county, Sullivan, pop. about 156,000, has had only 60 cases and 2 deaths. Unicoi County, where the strawberry farm is, has had only 48 cases and no deaths.

I have a good friend here in TN whose personal physician contracted the virus. He treated himself with the HCQ/Z-Pack/Zinc cocktail and recovered very quickly.

Trobriand Islands sound like a great place for a young single guy to visit. Except for the STD rate....

From the very beginning of covidiocy we’re known the virus affected different races differently. And the posited reason was ace2 receptors, whatever the heck they are. So much for all the race denialists who claim there’s no such thing as race.....

We’ve also known it would have more serious effects on the elderly, especially those with co-morbidities. Like, for example, residents in long term care facilities or hospice. One of my county’s two seaways someone in hospice. I’ve been reliably informed by a friend who knew him that the deadly virus may have cost him as much as 48 hours of li. Or may have had nothing to do with his death, just something else he had when he died.

What we didn’t know was that the biggest predictor of whether or not you’d end up in ICU with it would be your pre-existing Vitamin D blood level. Are you now taking Vitamin D supplements? If no, why not? Mine is 40 ng/ml when last checked. I still don’t see public health authorities telling people to have their D level checked. What I didn’t know before covidiocy is that there have been numerous studies long before covidiocy showing an inverse relationship between Vitamin D levels and seriousness of all respiratory diseases, including TB. Yet, routine testing is not recommended. Hey, do you know which group in America has the lowest D levels? Blacks!

I only know the black/white D level differences in America. Don’t know about Asians of any variety or Pacific Islanders or Native Americans.
