Hopefully going forward, responsible cities and states will provide self-defense information for businesses with topics such as under what circumstances will the police not defend your property, and what are the criteria for legally shooting rioters and looters.

My nonogenerian father-in-law passed away last night. He led a long and productive life and was loved and admired by many. Unfortunately he was a subject of one J.B.Pritzker, head tyrant of Illinois. Thus the funeral , according to Comrade Pritzker's Executive Order 2020-38, is limited to ten people. Only immediate family will be able to attend the funeral. It is likely none of my three children will attend, due to Comrade Pritzker's edict. Two weeks ago , one of our daughters, who lives on the north side of Chicago, had a front row seat from her apartment to witness the looting of the Walgreens at the corner of Division and Dearborn. Where were J.B.'s storm troopers that fine spring evening, when many more than 10 of J.B's constituents at a time invaded the Walgreens and stripped it of everything except the floor tiles and paint on the walls?

‘Roid rage and boogaloo, not a good mix. They’re being arrested one after another.

North Texas bodybuilder, Boogaloo movement member charged with conspiring to sell steroids
Philip Russell Archibald, 29, a bodybuilder and personal trainer from Lancaster that owns a business called The Physique Builder, ran a steroid distribution ring in North Texas, court documents state.

“The attorney’s office said that at Archibald’s detention hearing, prosecutors brought up his ties to the Boogaloo movement, a far-right fringe group that some have blamed for some of the violent protests around the world after the death of George Floyd.

Group members, who are sometimes known as “Boogaloo Boys”or “Boogaloo Bois," have been known for wearing Hawaiian shirts and carrying rifles at some demonstrations. Experts who study extremist groups say the movement is a broad term for white supremacists and gun-rights activists.

Prosecutors said on social media that Archibald advocated using “guerrilla warfare” against National Guard soldiers at this month’s protests. He also posted on Facebook that he was “hunting Antifa” and threatened to kill people who looted, according to the attorney’s office.”

Another fatal shooting in Atlanta this time. Shot in the back no less. And people wonder why people are protesting?

I had to look up where Division & Dearborn is, to see if that's the Walgreens I used while visiting my dying sister a couple of years ago. It's not, but it's pretty close: she lived in the highrise across the street from Mike Ditka's steak house, so 10 blocks or so SSE of your daughter. I wonder if her Walgreens was torched, too. Either way, too damn close for comfort, even though I have no reason to go to Chicago ever again. At least I was able to go to her memorial service. It never occurred to me that that was a privilege I couldn't take for granted. Condolences.

Jabba the Governor’s public health officials say that riots are A OK. But funerals are unnecessary. If you looked at lack of access to pharmacies and healthy food caused by the riots the death toll among minorities will be high. This is the progressive version of minorities are crazy and will not act in their interests but are uncontrollable so what are you going to do about it.

Uh, Inga you liar and fool, you left out the minor detail that he had stolen a cop's taser and aimed the taser at cops. You do that, you're going to get shot.

And now, these geniuses have burned down the Wendy's, which just happened to be the place this thug turned up. Great! Another "food desert" in the area and minimum wage jobs lost.

But Inga doesn't care about that. All that matters to her is her brain-dead virtue-signaling.

Today I learned that trans gals that used to be men but decided to become women do not think that they’re female.

Is that true? I don’t care enough to search. Likewise I haven’t cared enough to know the slightest details re the Harry P lady. Even so, as a result of the high profile of that thing-y I did stumble onto someone saying that these trans folks do want to be women, but they don’t say that that’s the same as being female.

To me this nuance makes these folks seem less whacky than I had previously assumed them to be. I had always assumed that someone who says they are a woman is also saying that they are female.

Anywho, I was never against these folks calling themselves whatever they want to be called. And, I’ll call them that too. Just don’t irreversibly mess w/ kids bodies. For adults, there better be some serious, unquestionable psych evaluation that weeds out the folks who may be susceptible to regrets. If people can prove all of that, fine: I suppose that it’s a legit medical condition worthy of remedy. Even so, I have a very hard time imagining how cutting off someone’s dick could be a medical remedy. If nothing else, who the F doesn’t want to be able to shoot loads? Not to mention P standing up.

Different strokes fer different folks.

So, Igna, let me just make sure I understand your point. You are saying, that in fact, no one on the Left is even slightly concerned about the death of the miscreant George Floyd. Choke 'em out, black lives don't matter! We could not care less. Maybe a candlelight vigil, if someone else brings the candles. The buildings burnt in Minneapolis, the insurrection in Seattle -- these are false flag operations, mounted by right-wing provocateurs.

Right? That's your claim?

Almost none of the violent protesters are pro-life. Almost all are guilty of voting for politicians who help Planned Parenthood place extra abortuaries in minority communities.

'community police' of CHAZ/CHOP use choke-hold restraining,
border enforcement, deportation, etc

the lockdown at this point, obviously isnt about public health

the 'BLM' protests/riots/looting arent about black lives mattering

destructive actions/elements are being empowered while decent folks
are being shut down/vilified.
Will we really be cowed, or will it steel our resolve?
Are their tactics "winning hearts and minds" or winning thru intimidation?

BTW, is it just me, or do other folks think that it’s adorable to have so much fuss re how the LSM isn’t living up to “journalistic standards” or whatever it is that is the good version of a traditionally liberal POV?

I read the recent posts here and I love them. To see all of this seemingly deeply (ha ha) felt fussing from so-called insider folks re the mega-importance re the failures re other folks who are in or related to their realm/turf/headspace is cool.

Hopefully you folks w/ all the correct answers can turn this thing around before it’s too late, so you can save the country, if not the world!

Until then folks doing the stuff that isn’t printed or televised or tuberised, will continue w/ the stuff that doesn’t matter.

IMHO.

It was an uneventful arrest for the first seven minutes. Fraud, drugs, the far-left runs amuck. There is no evidence that diversity was a motive. What other context is missing? #BabyLivesMatter

Boris Johnson scraps plan to make gender change easier
Women-only facilities will be protected

'Plans to allow people to change their legal gender and “self-identify” as a different sex have been scrapped in a move that will fuel the culture war gripping Britain.

Ministers and Boris Johnson’s team in No 10 have ditched plans developed under Theresa May’s government to allow transgender people to change their birth certificates without a medical diagnosis.

Instead they plan to announce a ban on “gay-cure” therapies in an attempt to placate LGBT people. New protections will be offered to safeguard female-only spaces, including refuges and public lavatories, to stop them being used by those with male anatomy.

A paper on the government’s plans is “basically ready” and is pencilled in for publication at the end of July before MPs go on their summer break.

Liz Truss, the equalities minister, will publish the details in an official response to a public consultation on the Gender Recognition Act. That has been in the long grass since October 2018 amid controversy about the measures.

Under the leaked plans:

● Proposals for people to self-identify their gender will be abandoned and those wanting to change their birth certificate will still need medical approval. At present that means two doctors have to sign off a gender change

● There will be a crackdown on “quack” doctors to ensure that only reputable medics can give approvals

● Safeguards will be put in place to protect “safe spaces” for women, reaffirming provisions in the Equalities Act

● New national guidelines on lavatory provision are likely to be introduced, replacing the “free-for-all” in which councils set their own rules, which has seen a rise in gender-neutral lavatories

● A ban on “gay-cure” therapies that are run by some church groups and therapists will be announced on the same day.

Truss has joined forces with Johnson’s team to ensure the document is more in line with public opinion. Polls suggest voters are sympathetic to trans rights but do not support transgender women with male anatomy accessing female-only facilities such as prisons and changing rooms...'

They seem to have finally decided that J.K. Rowling has the right idea.

Now we are about to have some idiot, who was so drunk he passed out in the drive-through lane of a Wendy's, got in an altercation with the cops, wrestled away a Taser from said cops and pointed it one of them and was killed for his stupidity, canonized into some kind of saint by the media. If I did something like that as a white person, would they have shot me? You're damn right they would have! Now we will see this fool get three or four memorials and funerals, pulled through the streets of Atlanta on a horse-drawn caisson in a golden coffin while throngs of others who never knew him shed crocodile tears on his behalf. I'm really sick of this stupidity!

Inga, perhaps you would Google "Parthian shot."

A cop-killer, even an attempted one, is the most dangerous human animal there is. This Brooks was obviously stoned - the latest thing is a Reese's pieces combo of meth (or coke) and fentanyl, the New Jack speedball or rather goofball as they're now called when made with amphetamines - and *he wrestled away an officer's weapon and fired it at them while fleeing.*

Such a man might do anything in his flight-carjacking a pregnant woman would be nothing to such a one. Was he out of ammo? Did he know, would you have known, perhaps not even the police would have known.

Note that the police chief, a woman, apparently resigned rather than fire the officers involved. White supremacy, I guess.

Inga, you feel but you do not think. Rhhardin would make a meal of you.

I bet you a shiny penny the guy had an overachiever's rap sheet and a tox screen like an tiger getting dentistry at the zoo.

I am so sorry for both of your losses.
I've had similar thoughts the past two weeks about my experiences. When I was in Chicago last taking care of my dying sister, I too had to do frequent runs across the street to the CVS to get her things to make her comfortable. I imagine all the people going through that very thing now, in the middle of looted and windowless stores.

Nobody is telling their stories.

So, last night, after an eventful day, I opened up the Kindle application on my overnight iPad. On the homepage, right below my folders of books I have in Kindle, was a section on Racism, to aid white people in dealing with their inherent racism. Mostly written by Black supremests, or so it appeared. Definitely not what I wanted when looking at using Kindle for a diversion. I found a complaint page that let me send complaints to them, and excoriated them for this blatantly political move on their part. I pointed out that there was nothing in my browsing or purchasing history that would have even remotely suggested any interest in their political propaganda. I also told them that I will likely move my reading over to BN, and cancel my Prime membership (sorry Ann).

All wasn’t lost though. I picked up Dr K’s medical history book that I have on Kindle, and enjoyed several fascinating chapters before falling asleep. He really is a good story teller. And I find the medicine fascinating. The one problem with it on Kindle is that it has a facility to look up words, and even jump over and search them on the Internet. This resulted in several interesting dives down rabbit holes, eve ending, at one point in an article on how short term memories are made into long term ones. Reading material hasn’t been that great yet this morning, so heading back to that book for a bit.

Michael K said...

I wrote that medical history book 20 years ago. I've been rereading it lately to refresh memories. The Kindle version is more recent, about three years. The hard cover version has a nice forward by Peter V Lee MD who was the Dean of the medical school when I was a student and who was retired after a long career. He was very complimentary but Kindle requires the book to be in Word format whereas the printer needed pdf. So I never uploaded the forward. Dr Lee lived to 93.
