AND: I created a "sighing" tag, and going back to add it to old posts, I discovered that I'd already remarked on Biden's sighing — and in the debate context. Of course, Biden was horrible in the debate he did in 2012 with Paul Ryan. The laughing, I remember well. But there was also sighing. From my simulblog of the event:

If Biden somehow manages to become President, can you imagine how much overtime will be burned up by the video editors like Chuck Todd. You take a 20 minute interview and cut it down to "Good to be here" and "Thank you". You would definitely have to cut out the parts where you repeatedly remind Biden that "Trump is no longer the President, You are."

I remember Biden continually laughing at Paul Ryan during their Veep debate. It was weird, obnoxious, and creepy. Ryan kept his poise, but Biden kept talking or laughing over him giving the impression that he looked at Ryan as 'some stupid little boy'. I don't think that'll work with Trump.
If Biden is allowed to continue as the Dem candidate, there will be a few moments in debate prep that will be hugely entertaining for us out here. We'll never see it, but I am sure it'll make the Dem directors break out in hives.

I remember the Biden/Ryan debate and I thought Joe was a complete jerk to Paul Ryan. I expected people to be turned off by his childish behavior. I was wrong - his base approved - believed that Biden was right to treat Ryan with such childish contempt.

Biden treated Ryan with open and total contempt.
Ryan just sat there with his eyes wide, taking it.
Ryan looked like he deserved to be treated with contempt.
