Do people who want Trump to fail ever get tired of posing as if they're offering to help him avoid failure?

I'm reading Eugene Robinson over at WaPo:
President Trump’s increasingly frantic attempts to smear former president Barack Obama reek of panic. As disgusting as these efforts are, they are likely to backfire, perhaps in spectacular fashion.
Maybe there are readers at WaPo who lap this stuff up. They want Trump to be going nuts and they'd like to see his attacks backfire spectacularly. But there's no way an interpretation like this could influence Trump. He's not going to think: I'd better calm down and realize that attacks on Obama will only hurt me. It makes much more sense for him to interpret a column like that to mean that his attacks are effective.
Maybe Trump just cannot abide the fact that Obama is a Nobel laureate, respected around the world, while he has had to endure being snickered at by world leaders and portrayed as hapless and ignorant by the “fake news” media he claims to hate yet compulsively devours. Increasingly, his imagined victimizer is Obama himself. Trump even tries to blame Obama for his own administration’s botched response to a disease that did not exist when Obama was in office.

I thought everyone knew you don’t tug on Superman’s cape....
And yet, you're doing just that.

By the way, the line "you don’t tug on Superman’s cape" comes from Jim Croce's "You Don't Mess Around With Jim," and the question why Superman wears a cape — what good does it do him? — has long plagued readers of comic books who think too much.

IN THE COMMENTS: Calypso Facto said:
"Jim" also gets his ass handed to him by the upstart "Slim" at the end of Croce's song. Maybe more on point than Eugene Robinson intended? (And isn't Slim a great nickname for Trump in response to Pelosi's failed fat-shaming?)

LOL, as they say.

As if we didn't know lefties don't have a clue about us or about Trump. Their obtuseness is our strength.

But the reemergence of Obama is interesting, and so are MSM efforts to spin a protective cocoon. Feeling a little heat, Barry?

Hypothesis: Though Brennan engineered most of the sabotage, Obama was well aware of, and signed off on, anti-Trump weaponization of federal resources during and after the election.

In other words, they want him to become a Democrat. Because that's clearly how the Democrats roll these days.

Surprising blog post. Surprising because I had no idea anyone reads Eugene Robinson anymore. I read the Washington Post every morning without fail, pretty much cover to cover, except that I skip Robinson. He has been writing the same column for the last three years. What is the value in it? How does someone get up every morning and write essentially the same broadside against Trump? You might ask how do I know it is the same, given that I do not read him? The title and the first line always give the game away.

WaPo, "Maybe Trump just cannot abide the fact that Obama is a Nobel laureate, respected around the world …."

And Obama's legacy is going to come crashing down on him this year. Comey, Clapper, Brennan et alia to be indicted. Obama ordered the government to spy on Trump without a warrant and then tried to remove him from office. As Joe Biden would say, "That's a big fucking deal."

1. Did the Obama administration wiretap the Trump campaign?

Answer: Yes. See Carter Page FISA application

So, Trump was right about this. He was spied on.

2. Was this wiretap legal (or in AG Barr's inimitable words, was there a proper legal predicate?)

Answer: Very dicey. The Steele Dossier was used to get the FISA Warrant, and it was riddled with lies. More so, Two of the four FISA warrants have been held invalid by the DOJ/FISA court . Does that mean the other two are kosher? Not necessarily. We'll have to see what Durham finds.

It is clear that Obama allowed and/or directed his FBI to weaponize the FISA systems to spy on the Trump campaign/early administration, based on a bullshit Russian collusion theory. And, worse, they leaked out the product of the spying to the Media (a major felony) to frame Flynn. And Carter Page -- the original Russian spy justifying all this FBI work, of course, was never arrested, nor expelled to Mother Russia.

He was a pretext to spy on the Trump campaign.

Can Eugene Robinson handle all this? It ain't hard.

Ken B said...

Or, perhaps, the evidence of wrongdoing suggests actual wrongdoing occurred.

FWIW I told friends years ago that Trump had access to information they did not and it was wrong to just say he is lying about Obama spying. So my perception might be affected by the prospect of a container ship sized load of “I told you so” in the offing, but I do believe the Obami spied on and tried to undermine their replacement.

Where have I heard that before?

The new leader of Democrats in the Senate says Donald Trump is being "really dumb" for picking a fight with intelligence officials, suggesting they have ways to strike back, after the president-elect speculated Tuesday that his "so-called" briefing about Russian cyberattacks had been delayed in order to build a case.

"Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Tuesday evening on MSNBC after host Rachel Maddow informed him that intelligence sources told NBC news that the briefing had not been delayed.

"So, even for a practical supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he's being really dumb to do this," he added.

Trump has repeatedly expressed skepticism about the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that Russia was in all likelihood involved in a hacking plot aimed at interfering in the election. He claimed over the weekend that he knew "things that other people don't know" and hinted that further information would soon be on the way. "You'll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday," he told reporters.

That information was expected to be provided to Trump mid-week via an intelligence briefing. But Tuesday evening, Trump said his briefing was delayed until Friday, and speculated that the spooks might need more time to build their case. "Very strange!" he added.

From Tarantino's Kill Bill 2 (re superman's "costume"):
Superman:... "The mythology is not only great, it’s unique… Now, a staple of the superhero mythology is, there’s the superhero and there’s the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning, he’s Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic Superman stands alone. Superman didn’t become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he’s Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red “S”, that’s the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears – the glasses, the business suit – that’s the costume. That’s the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He’s weak, he’s unsure of himself, he’s a coward. Clark Kent is Superman’s critique on the whole human race.

What happened to the president in the 2016 election, and throughout the first two years of his administration, was . . . a grave injustice and it was unprecedented in American history. The law enforcement and intelligence apparatus of this country were involved in advancing a false and utterly baseless Russian collusion narrative against the president. The proper investigative and prosecutorial standards of the Department of Justice were abused in my view in order to reach a particular result. Robinson probably wants to emphasize the fact that Obama was embraced by the world's elite, while Trump never will be. It doesn't matter what the Nobel was awarded for, it's just important that it was given to Obama. Obama's followers gain honor by proxy, they chose the very bestest man.

1: Obama "won" his Nobel Peace Prize for winning the 2008 Presidential election. If ER still thinks that's an actual accomplishment, he's a moron

2: Wow, Obama's a more popular kid than Trump! Apparently ER is still in high school. I certainly can't think of any reason for an actual adult to care about those things.

3: What did Obama accomplish with all his "foreign leader love"? He got a crap deal with Iran that Trump is destroying, because it was such a crap deal that Obama didn't even TRY to make it a treaty that would bind his successors. Anything else?

Trump, OTOH, got Western European Nato countries to increase their defense spending, has cut an advantageous (to the US) deal with China, is seriously putting the squeeze on Iran.

4; The fake "news" organizations are facing massive losses and layoffs. And now one actually trusts them ("agree with them so long as their pushing my political agenda" != "trust").

Advantage Trump

Howard: "By going after Obama, Trump is just trying to boost the Klan turnout. All hands on deck."

Yep.

The dems have circled back to this multi-attempted narrative failure because all the other lie-based narratives have failed even more spectacularly. The dems really don't have a thick playbook, do they?

They recently tried to resurrect the WBush/James Byrd tactic with the GA killing but that one petered out in about 20 minutes (more Smollett fall out).

After 5 straight years of impeachment lies Trump's polls are rock steady and Trump has expanded his battleground states lead from 48-47 in 2016 to 52-45 in even CNN's cooked polls! And that was amongst registered voters...and oversampled NY/CA!

The panicked dems then tried to handoff Believe All Women to republicans (the same way they tried to shift obamacare onto republicans) and that has already failed in a colossally hilarious way.

Biden campaign has already given up on expanding their hispanic vote (Biden aide admits the hispanic vote will not be core to the Biden effort) and Slow Joe says anybody who believes Tara should not vote for him.

Well alrighty then.

So now what?

As Howard the white guy who moved to Boston and thinks he is an "elite" because "geography" demonstrates, racism will always be the fallback.

Transition from Clinton to Bush: Removal of W's on keyboards, petty shit, went down in history as Clinton's admin hurting Bush's ability to govern.

Transition from Bush to Obama: Here I'll enjoy quoting wikipedia's article on it,

"President Bush invited Obama and his team to attend the 2008 G-20 Washington summit held between November 15 and 20 in order to introduce him to more than 20 world leaders who attended the event. However, Obama did not come, and his transition team instead sent former Republican Rep. Jim Leach and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to meet with the heads of state.

The Bush administration reportedly went out of its way to make the transition as seamless as possible for the incoming administration, earning accolades from Obama staff members and outside experts alike. According to nearly all accounts, the Bush administration streamlined the process for new officials to obtain security clearances and planned training exercises for the incoming national security team, to ensure that they would be ready to face a possible crisis on the first day in office. "

Transition Obama to Trump:

Hateful shit left and right, actively trying to subvert incoming admin, and now evidence shows they willfully withheld counter intel operations and investigations from what was at the time (and still) considered a major foreign adversary supposedly trying to infiltrate our government. As personally ordered by Obama.

....

Certain things I consider sacrosanct in this country: you fight dirty in elections but then you help the incoming elected executive succeed in their job even if you vehemently disagree with them. If there is ever anything that shows the character of a leader it's how they deal with losing.

Long ago Trump read and integrated Sun Tzu’s classic into his life. Trump is a very sophisticated actor and he understands China better than his predecessors because of that. He doesn’t really mind the Press portraying him as a boob, and Nancy treating him like one, because it shows how shallow they are in evaluating Trump. Conversely he has an amazing ability to size up competitors quickly and mock their weaknesses. Low Energy Jeb. Little Marco. Crooked Hillary. And how prophetic those silly names were, now, after the fact, when more people see it the way Trump called it. He uses the power forfeited to him by their underestimation of him. What legislative, judicial or inter-branch fights have the Femicrats won in the Trump era, led by Pelosi? It is a pretty serious chain of events that many of us can see leading up to the White House. Maybe not Obama? Well then, explain for one, his meeting of January 5, 2017.

Also seems pretty curious that Obama suddenly came out to back Joe Biden and attack Trump at the same time the investigation into his administration started to gain traction. Where was his backing of Uncle Joe at any time beforehand? Who's frantic now?

"Maybe Trump just cannot abide the fact that Obama is a Nobel laureate,..."
Honestly, no one can stand that fact. It's just another blight on the Nobel name. He was awarded the degree before his seat in the Oval Office had seen his butt for even 10 months. They announced this award earlier still. He got the award for being black and loved by Liberals. When evaluating a Presidential contest, you've got to look at the two candidates.

Trump's out and around, with lots of energy and actively governing. He's VISIBLE. You may not like what he does, but you can't say he's just sitting back and letting things happen.

Biden's near dead as far as 'Jo-mentum' goes. He doesn't dare do anything that isn't totally scripted, and even then he messes those things up. Live debates? Oh, that'll be fun, assuming he survives that long.

In November, there's not that many people who'll vote for a demented octogenarian. (Yeah, he's still a couple years short of that milestone. Don't see his cognitive abilities improving, though...)

And parachuting someone in at the Convention will to take his place will really make the committed Biden and Bernie supporters feel like idiots. That'll peel off a good 10% of the vote, I'd estimate.

So yeah - I think Trump's looking at the 'advice' the 'pundits' are giving him, and laughing while he does the opposite.

ARM is in full panic mode now that Biden's poll numbers are collapsing in the battle ground states and there has been a Global Awakening to what ARM's Beloved and Heroic People's Republic of China ChiComs have been up to and a Great Reckoning for ARM's Beijing buddies is on the way.

Here's the latest on that front:

Recall that ARM spent months regurgitating ChiCom "Generosity Campaign" propaganda and hoax ChiCom flu lies, even so far as ARM insisting that the virus could just as easily come from the US as China. ARM actually argued that...and he still believes it.

Well, now well over 110 nations want an independent (non WHO-led) investigation of ARM's Beloved and Heroic ChiComs.

It appears the Italians have fully figured out what Beijing's minions like ARM have been doing:

"Italy feared to be 'China's Trojan horse' in propaganda weapon as Beijing eyes 'big prize'"

"Italy is believed to be the target area for Chinese propaganda, as Beijing has reportedly identified Italy as "the soft belly of the West". Some claim this is why China readily agreed to assist Italy in its deadly fight against the virus, as the European state quickly became the worst-hit country on the continent at the beginning of the outbreak.

For example, a Financial Times investigation found China had manipulated video footage of Italians applauding Beijing for sending medical supplies to Italy.

The clips, broadcast by Chinese state media, showed images of Italians applauding along to the Chinese national anthem on their balconies and streets.

Zhao Lijian, spokesman for the Chinese State Department, shared one of the videos on Twitter and wrote: "In Rome, while the Chinese anthem was being played, some Italians shouted 'Grazie, Cina!' on their balconies and their neighbours applauded."

Remember, ARM referenced these clear hoax images of Italians applauding the ChiComs multiple times on these boards.

And he did it gleefully.

ARM is to ChiCom propaganda what Inga is to hoax russia collusion lies.

Obama's minions (likely ordered by Obama) spied on Trump's kids on Inauguration Day.

Obama: It was just business.
Trump: This shit is personal.

This is the sort of crap that can get out of hand.
And I hope it does.

Any liberal with a conscience is slowly admitting it to themselves.

Both of them?

narciso: "apparently imperial college is teaming up with the Chinese govt,"

Not surprising.

They collaborated nicely together along with the democratics and the US media on the ChiCom flu operation.

Tell us more about your life story.

Gone from sniffing jockstraps to posting nonsense.

ARM has entered Chuck territory and should be ignored. The only purpose he serves is to distract and annoy. It must be due to a sense of desperation, but that is no excuse.

Howard,

You are starting to enter that territory. I used to find your posts amusing, but the teenaged homophobic stuff is puerile.

It's over. Trump is over.

It’s not uncommon for the simple-minded to confuse their credulity with actual credibility. It’s not a compelling argument to those that can actually think, but the foot-stomping is adorable.
