Sunrise — 7:12 a.m.

March 8, 2020 sunrise 2

The actual sunrise time today was 7:22. The 2 other sunrise photos — 1, 2 — I've put up this morning — much oranger, less pink — were done at 7:27. Here's a longer view of the sky at 7:12:

Today's was one of the best sunrises I've seen in my 6 months of sunrise. It was excellent through a 20-minute period during which it changed a lot. If there's a good level of cloud cover — this was, I think, about 34% — then be there 15 minutes before the actual sunrise time or you'll miss the prettiest part. Today's sunrise was special because there was enough cloud cover to make the sun itself photographable after it came into view. That's how I got those pictures 5 minutes after the actual sunrise time. It was the longest window of opportunity I've seen so far.

I also discovered a new trick for photographing the sunrise on an iPhone. To keep the sun from blowing out the picture, touch the sun on the screen and it will reset the lighting.

That is strangely precise.

I thought we all already died in WWIII with Iran.

Hillary on CNN with Fareed. An absolute scream. Complains about getting out of the Iran deal. Says Trump MUCH WORSE than she expected. LOL.

What a clueless loser. Still belongs in jail.

Hillary, “We can’t imagine the damage of four more years of Trump.....” “Inflict damage on our institutions of democracy....”

“Need to take a hard look at our Electoral College.” Hillary.

Listen, you fucking cunt criminal. Our Founders gave us the EC so we wouldn’t be ruled by urban mobs and gangster grifters like you. Go fuck yourself because obviously your so-called husband won’t.

Hillary complains about misogyny. Hillary, we just hate you; not all women.

Hillary thinks it’s “absurd” to still be fighting over ACGW.

Yeah, the scam helps you and your buds. I’ll never forget when her husband told a crowd in Omaha that “putting solar panels and wind turbines on Indian reservations will make US ALL RICH.” Us?

But we won’t submit to your rule, bitch. You lost!

Had a red streak in the western sky this morning at sunrise. Cloudy and nothing seen to the east yet.

Mostly sunsets in Tucson are pretty.

Heh. I know. The "I think" was because I thought I remembered the number. I check a weather site before I go out, because I need to know the temperature and the sunrise time. I've learned to check the cloud cover, because that has the most to do with how good the sunrise will look and has an effect on whether I try to show up especially early. If the cloud cover is 0% or 100%, the sunrise is going to look like many other sunrises, and in the case of 100%, it's going to be dark 15 minutes before sunrise. But when I saw 34% (or whatever I saw), I had reason to think this would be one of the best and that there'd be some early views I didn't want to miss.

The DNC is now taking even more dramatic steps to protect the senile Joe Biden:

The DNC has changed the format for the next debate, where Joe Biden would have had to stand at a lectern for two hours and answer questions from professional moderators, to one where both men will be seated and answer questions from the audience,” tweeted Common Dreams senior editor and writer Eoin Higgins."

And there you have it.

Sleepy Joe gets to sit there for 2 hours (probably with electrodes firing into his lower back to keep him "alert") and will not have to face any questions from reporters, just a series of DNC plants who will ask certain questions in just the right way to help Joe along.

And by "just the right way", I do, of course, mean "as rehearsed".

What I hope happens is that Slow Joe accidentally gives a rehearsed answer to the wrong question!

LOL

I wonder what impact longer days will have on the spread of corona virus. Ultraviolet rays - at least some kinds - kill viruses. One kind is UV-C. There are even UV-C lights made in order to destroy viruses inside AC vents and other places that sunlight doesn't reach. These lights aren't in common use for indoor virus killing because it was found they caused cataracts and skin cancer just as does too much sunlight. But still you wonder if there might be a way to use them to ward off WuFlu. I even read that there is some other kind of UV rays called "far-UV" which does not cause cataracts and skin cancer but it is so new it is expensive - $1000 a bulb. But if this worked and production of it was accelerated and costs brought down, then maybe there could be decontamination areas lit by UV or decontamination by portable far-UV lights.

But while I wait for safe UV light bulbs to be invented and to pass Diversity and the EPA and Obama judges' national injunctions and EU regulations and CDC outcries against anything happening without ten years of testing, I think I'm going to try hanging up my clothes outside in the sun (when there is sun) even if it isn't warm. Old as I am, endangered as I am, I know how and why to do this.

No. It was North Korea. Then Iran.

The colors are gorgeous and you have a keen eye for framing. Something occurred to me. Does a late-setting full moon affect sunrise colors? I've never explored that.

No. it was North Korea, then it was Net Neutrality (remember that one?), then it was the repeal of the Obamacare Mandate, then it was the deregulation, then it was pulling out of the corrupt Iran Deal, then it was pulling out of the corrupt and moronic Paris Climate deal, THEN it was Iran.....and now its the coronavirus and.....get the latest: all because Trump reassigned Mick Mulvaney!

As of this moment, I'm not even typing this because I, and every other human on earth, has been killed 37 times over.....that is, if you believe the lefties/LLR-lefties.

wildswan... I've got UVC lamp in the duct work just above my furnace to kill bad stuff in the air. The kits are available thru the portal. Cost around $110.00 all included. Clear instructions, installation tool, easy peasy. Got my duct work cleaned by a reputable firm and they recommended I install it. Wifey's sinuses thank me for it! If you can work a drill and a screwdriver you're in business!

This sunrise pic reminds me of the iconic poster from the 60's the surfer and the Cali sunset. This series has far more feature to the shots.

Very nice picture, although that first one you posted was even better.

Since there are pictures, I'll assume this is acting as a café for the nonce and say this: I voted early in the Florida primary yesterday. Closed primary in Florida, of course, and I decided not to switch party preference to foment mischief, so I had a choice among the Republicans of Trump and the three pretenders. Keep America Great!

Nothing else was on the ballot this year, so it went quickly. No line and the only complication was that they couldn't get the code on the back of my driver's license to scan, so they had to input it manually. Apparently it's an old-new driver's license. It doesn't expire until 2027, so I'll have to put up with that in upcoming elections.

I noticed that today, when I voted as well, so much for new licenses,

Years ago, I had it explained to me by my tax accountant. He showed me the books that tax specialists buy in order to keep up to date. He pointed out that tax legislation is bally hooed by the media and the authors both. Often times the legislators get the low down from their accountants on what the real impact is of their bills, and the amendments begin to get formulated. Down the road the amendments are acted on by the legislators without any media scrutiny and the problems are solved. Tax preparation experts and legislators are a closed loop.

Here in purgatory, there has been a large influx of newbies from when the impeachment failed.

“The situation in the no-mans-land between Turkey and Greece is becoming increasingly more violent and desperate for the refugees. Reporters on a tour heard gunshots despite the Greek government denying the use of anything except tear gas to stop the refugees.”

The refugees are setting fires then throwing rocks at the responders. So it might be the ‘refugees’ who are ramping up the violence? No, that’s impossible!

tim in vermont said...

Who is to say it wan’t the refugees using guns, since the reporters are lying about what you can clearly see in videos posted to Twitter.

Enjoyed some beautiful weather here all weekend. A bit windy for the Bassmaster Classic, but they persisted. The winning haul was 65-5 for fifteen fish over the three days of the tournament. That’s close to a four-and-a-half pound average. That earns you $300k for the effort, which doesn’t suck.

On a lake of ~70,000 acres - arguably the finest such on the planet - the top three spots were in my back yard, at my marina, and the along the causeway leading to my bar. Not kidding. And I don’t fish. 😜

After you have touched the sun on your iPhone, you can then drag your finger up and down the screen to adjust the exposure to your liking. FYI.
