Oh look, another study that shows that the models have been greatly exaggerating warming! Somebody tell Greta that she’s been lied to.
I calculated the climate sensitivity in a temporary standstill period (or slightly decreasing) as it was detected in the observations of the EEI during 1999 to 2018. The ECS value of 1.72K as the best estimate is in excellent agreement with the value found in LC18, 1.66K using the then current C&W GMST dataset (see Tab.3 of this paper).
The published ECS-values of the CMIP6 models have a mean above 4 K (see this recent paper) that is higher by a factor of 2.4 than observed here. This growing discrepancy between observed values of ECS reduces the credibility of the high model estimates.

No Dem has suggested that, of course, such an investigation would in fact have helped Biden by clearing him and exposing Trump as a misguided adversary.

Interesting theory heard on NPR’s All Things Considered tonight...
That instead of just four Republicans voting with Democrats for witnesses, it could be 10 or 12. Perhaps a super-majority, which would defuse any pro-Trumpist pressure on a Cory Gardner or a Thom Tillis or a Susan Collins. “Safety in numbers” is how it was described. No one Republican Senator has to take any particular heat as the 51st vote.
It reminded me of that great Jeff Flake story from last year; speaking at the 2019 Texas Tribune Festival Thursday, Flake was responding to comments made by Republican political consultant Mike Murphy on MSNBC who said that if there was a secret, non-public vote, at least 30 GOP Senators would back impeachment.
“That's not true. There would be at least 35," Flake said.
You can look at this map and see how coronavirus is spreading in China and to some extent elsewhere. Not as many deaths as you'd think considering the way people are carrying on. One other hand, six days ago there were about 320 cases in Mainland China but now there are 4400. I just don't know whether flu normally spreads that fast in flu season.
Derschowitz acknowledged that in the Clinton impeachment he took the position that a crime was not needed to impeach, and he explained his change of position. He said that (1) the issue wasn't material to the Clinton impeachment, since Clinton had been charged with actual crimes, (2) because it didn't matter, he went along with the scholarly consensus at the time, and (3) the issue does matter here because Trump has not been charged with a crime, and (4) he has since become aware of better arguments against his prior position (which he explained at length)..
Dershowitz is a gifted teacher. I only tuned in during a commercial break on another station, but his conversational style drew me in. His arguments were lucid and easy to follow and presented with occasional glints of humor. Although my bias is in favor of the President, I zoned out the other speakers. The arguments, pro and con, are tedious, but those presented by Dershowitz seemed logical, interesting and persuasive. I stuck with him for a full half hour before switching back over to the Cartoon Network. I can see where Dershowitz earns the high fees he charges. It was an impressive performance.

"Some members of Trump's gang paid a price. Not clear that this was bad for the country. It is important to establish that the rule of law applies to the presidency." I find this highly ironic since you cheer led all of Obamas policies.
Show ARM the Republican, and he will invent you the crime. He isn’t in the same world grounded in facts and logic and rule of law that we live in. He lives in a world where you give a prosecutor a target, and he will come up with a theory of how something is actually a crime.
"Ken Starr uses "we the people" in the objective case."
He's not alone. I hear that a lot, from supposedly educated people, and it grates. Thom Hartmann, the purported big-brain lefty radio host, uses it in a signature catchphrase on his show. Mark Levin says it, too. They apparently think Jefferson coined a new name for us (or for we?), to be used in all cases, when he was simply being grammatically correct. Jefferson knew when to say "us", and he did it many times.

This is interesting:
As President Trump’s impeachment trial moves into the defense phases, attorney Alan Dershowitz on Sunday said that he has changed his mind on whether a crime is needed to remove a president from office -- a reversal of his stance during the impeachment of President Bill Clinton in 1999.
Dershowitz, who recently joined Trump’s impeachment defense team, argued that a crime needs to be committed to impeach a president – a 180-degree shift from his previous thinking
They should have wrapped it up after 3 hours.
Nobody cares. The Bolton "bombshell" was just the suicide of one more NeverTrumper. He has tried to join with people who hate him.
Harry Truman said it best, "His downfall began when he took his friends for granted and tried to bribe his enemies." So true,

It is on them.
Watched all of Dershowitz. Interested to see AA's take.
Was Dersh the the Jon Lovitz, Ron Silver or Evan Handler version last night?
I'm so glad to hear that he made you people feel so good and confident about der Leaderhosen.

Scott Adams has gone daffy over the virus. It never even occurs to him that established procedures could work, or that anyone could even think they might work.
It doesn't seem to have occurred to many here, or our hostess, that Scott Adams is not that bright. He is a good pop artist, but taking political or scientific cues from him is no smarter than taking them from the Kardashians, who are also good pop artists.

After we crush and drop them in the bog.
Violent ideation. Pretty sure we are against this here.
The press leaks about Bolton remind me of Comey's.
He was trying to force a special prosecutor.
Again, there was nothing to those allegations.
But the country paid a terrible price for Mueller and his team.

Some members of Trump's gang paid a price. Not clear that this was bad for the country. It is important to establish that the rule of law applies to the presidency.
Ken Starr uses "we the people" in the objective case. It should be "us the people," being an apposition. All components get the same case.

I find this highly ironic since you cheer led all of Obamas policies.
It is important to establish that the rule of law DOES NOT apply to the presidency.

Show ARM the Republican, and he will invent you the crime. He isn’t in the same world grounded in facts and logic and rule of law that we live in. He lives in a world where you give a prosecutor a target, and he will come up with a theory of how something is actually a crime.
Are sock puppets living in the real world, you know the world where the rule of law applies?
ARM thinks the rule of law equals what he wants. That's not the way it works.
