I wouldn't call that "massively booed"... but then to tell you the truth, I don't know what UFC even is.

Seems like a big deal. United... Fight Club? Whatever. Here's your President getting greeted at Madison Square Garden... you judge the reaction:

I hear lots of loud crowd noise, then a guy clearly booing. A guy who happens to be near the camera. And who would expect that a group that big — a group that didn't assemble for the purpose of rallying for Trump — not to include some Trump antagonists? What's nice is that Trump is willing to go to such a place and be seen. He's not cocooning with supporters.

And whatever UFC is — I'll look it up in a sec — isn't it one of those things where villains are popular and booing is part of the fun?

The Hill conveys the news/fake news with "Trump gets deluge of boos upon entering MSG prior to UFC 244"

Okay, I looked it up. UFC is Ultimate Fighting Championship...
... an American mixed martial arts promotion company based in Las Vegas, Nevada, that is owned and operated by parent company William Morris Endeavor. It is the largest MMA promotion company in the world and features the highest-level fighters on the roster....

With larger live gates at casino venues like the Trump Taj Mahal and the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the UFC secured its first television deal with Fox Sports Net....
William Morris Endeavor — I assume Trump has some connections to that talent agency. Let's see:
On September 14, 2015, WME acquired from Donald Trump the Miss Universe Organization, which produces the Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA beauty pageants and related content....
These are businesses. Who knows how much Trump actually likes mixed martial arts fighting?! Anyway, I'm not surprise the crowd is loud and rowdy and a good portion of them get off on booing the President, and I'll bet that lots of mixed martial arts fans love Trump.

UFC seems like the kind of entertainment that would attract Trump fans. But anytime you get 20,000 people together, you’ll find all sorts. I guarantee you, there are a few hundred people in that room who will boo the UFC.

Well, since I don't watch MMA I can't really say that they've lost my viewership.

I've tried to like MMA in the past, but it's always struck me as too white-trash and vulgar.

How can a company own both UFC and Miss America and not see the cross-over opportunities?

Not to brag but I also came to all those same conclusions using a simple one-stage filter: the media is always lying about Trump.

Saves time. Nearly 100% accurate. It’s pretty useful.

Actively gets in the way of providing blogging material about our lousy media, though. For those who might care about such things.

We must maintain the meme that Trump is unpopular and no one if consequence likes him.

Likewise that once the “evidence” is out a lot of Republican Senators will vote to remove him.

And every Democrat running would beat him in an election.

The mental health of millions of Americans depends on maintaining these “truths”.

Not to mention, the entire fundraising apparatus of the Democrat Party.

Almost every time a politician appears at a sporting event, he or she gets booed by somebody. The only exception I can remember was George W Bush at Yankee Stadium.

It would be interesting to see Liz Warren appear at a Cowboy’s game.

Mary Beth said...

There's a lot of whistling too, the kind that's done as a sort of a cheer.

The problem the media will have if they are lying is that there are probably other recordings of the event and, like so many of their previous lies, a video will be released to show how fake the news was.

Compare the DJT greeting to when The Rock walked in, hence massive booing.

This event seems to coincide with the publication of an arrest of a teen for dodging a $2.75 one way MTA fare.
Granted, the NYPD has not forgiven a late September shooting of Brian Mulkeen, an NYPD officer who ellegitaly was shot from his own gun. Eric Garner is also a haunted issue to say least in English, because I am not a professional in any way nor part of either family biasly. I am white, but I dismiss such justification because life in any way is completely outside labels. But the animosity, hate, resentment, vengeance, and the sacrifice of sheep is inevitable. Pardon my crude gothic type humour to cheer myself from morbid dismay.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/10/28/nypd-video-guns-pointed-subway-train-unarmed-fare-hopper/

What really bothers me is the unfair trade value for that specific day of a $2.75 fare for a dozen or so police that in NY roughly start below the 3rd tax bracket as rookies. Respectfully with college that may be of debt, because an Associates Degree is mandatory post the Bloomberg Administration. Officers with higher rank and pay should patience themselves from tackle apprehensions. That is better a request for the local administration's in the tri-state area than a debate within a blog.

Much of the fighting in MMA occurs on the floor of the ring with one fighter flat on his back with his legs raised and wrapped around the waist of the fighter on top who attempts to pummel the face of the fighter below. It tends to be a bit homoerotic, resembling or suggesting sex in the missionary position

Well, let’s look at WME, the company that owns UFC and Miss Universe. Who are the co-CEOs and founders? Ari Emanuel (Rahm’s brother) and Patrick Whitesell, the guy who was cuckolded by Jeff Bezos, who hooked up with Whitesell’s slutty wife.

Yeah, it’s just business, but these characters are in deep with President Trump. Let’s see how the culture treats the Donald in the run- up to the 2020 election. I expect support from some surprising directions, particularly if the Dems go with Elizabeth (I have a plan) Warren.

So we are saying that the context for Jefferson's quote is unimportant? That is very ahistorical of us. Any sexual relationship between Hemings and Jefferson can reasonably be classified as rape, given that she was a slave. Both contempory accounts and recent DNA evidence support the idea that Jefferson raped Hemings. The consensus is that he was the father of Hemings' children.

At the very least, it was bone-headed of Ivanka to use this quote, given the context.

The female species cannot comprehend UFC because the men in it are not being nice to each other. And it is not all that interesting unless your testosterone level is high and you want to remember your one on one matches with seriously strong and quick trained men. It is exactly not WWF shows. Think of UFC as Dancing With the Stars where the first move is to throw the other man on the ground and the next, and only other, move is to jump on top and hold him down while you pound him senseless with your fists and elbows. None of the hyped fancy fighting styles from other cultures are ever used.

The first time that I remember seeing UFC ( The Octagon) was on pay per view TV at my 82nd Airborne son's home. We were into it and enjoyed it very much, but none of the women could see what we liked about it.

Donald Trump was an amateur wrestler in his Military school youth.

Also, in consideration to the good right wind church goers on a Sunday, my apologies if needed.

November 1st, a massive protest in the Brooklyn area of New York City. That somewhat satisfies my confusion by the act of evading train fare by multiple residents. (Hopefully some tourists benefited from the event) although I am in no way condoning mass rally chaos, but financially the less than a weeks gap of injustice has been exposed, if not rectified. That was my selfish want & a McDonalds coffee. Good day !

ARM: "Both contempory accounts and recent DNA evidence support the idea that Jefferson raped Hemings. The consensus is that he was the father of Hemings' children."

As always, wrong.

Thomas Jefferson shares a specific DNA marker with 2 other male members of his family who also had opportunity and position to possibly be the father of Hemings children.

Thats what we know. Nothing more.

The Hemings are certainly part of the Jefferson family and I dont blame them for wanting Thomas Jefferson as that relative.

Its always a good call to assume the opposite of whatever ARM is saying is the truth. You will be on safe factual and logical grounds by doing so.

This fighting style/styles used in the UFC, generally referred to as mixed martial arts, MMA, seems to be the most practical general approach to unarmed fighting actually used in sporting competition.

So the sport itself may have a proletarian air, but it has nevertheless that critical element of reality.

Most other martial sports are to a great degree stylized and, in themselves, impractical when it comes to an actual fight. There are any number of amusing Youtube videos of MMA vs other styles such as Taekwondo.

Most of a decade ago, in my last job, I represented UFC as their patent attorney. Weird claim to fame, I know. Because we were one of the largest firms in NV at the time, we, of course, had an Entertainment Section, and that is where the UFC fit. A lot of crossover with the IP Section where I fit. One very ambitious younger lawyerette got herself assigned to that client (in under 20 years, the UFC went from a value of $2 million to over $4 billion). The lawyers working the account got, of course, good seats whenever they fought in LAS. She got talked into joining them one time at a match, and turned into a fanatic. For her, ritualized fighting on TV had no allure. But live and close, the raw testosterone was apparently overwhelming. I was never close enough to the action with this client to get this spiff, but wondered if I had, whether I would have also been turned into a fan. According to her, there is something very atavistic about live MMA fights.

BTW, many think that these fights are staged. I don’t think so, or not markedly. Televised MMA matches appear much more violent that the professional wrestling that Trump was involved in. I found this in the public records of the NV fight commission. At least in NV, the fighters are all checked out by a Doctor after every public fight. And inevitably one, and sometimes both, of the fighters in a UFC bout are put on medical suspension, where they aren’t allowed to fight in NV, for time periods ranging from a couple months to most of a year.

Any sexual encounter between Monica lewinski and Bill Clinton could be classified as rape given his power over her as a subordinate.

Also he stuck his dick down her throat and ruined a perfectly good dress based on lying to her. That he loved her and led her to believe he would leave Hillary for her

No evidence she thought it was rape at the time though 25 years later the penny does seem to be dropping.

No evidence the jefferson's relation ship with hemings was not consensual. No evidence that it was either.

Althouse chose one video in one Twitter account. Not unreasonably, some of her commenters question whether a single cellphone video could accurately capture the mood and actions of an entire Madison Square Garden crowd. And the simple fact is that one can look around on Twitter and elsewhere on the ‘net and find 20 or 30 entirely similar cellphone videos from different locations in Madison Square Garden. The video that Althouse put in her blog post is not an outlier. It is perfectly representative.

And wouldn’t someone have expected a MMA crowd — lots of white men with less than college educations from New York’s outer boroughs — to be prime Trump supporters? I share the opinion of many that the Trump campaign staff probably expected that an MMA crowd would have provided Trump with massive cheers to erase the memories of Trump’s being booed at the World Series. And it didn’t turn out as planned.

Other than a Trump rally, where could Trump appear and not be aggressively booed by about 45% of the crowd?
