Donald Trump Jr. gets in on the travel shaming... as a joke, presumably.

That's more of a response to the "Rocky" image Trump tweeted yesterday:

I don't understand your comment, Howard. I presume the retard you are talking about is Greta. She is obviously a child of privilege in Sweden, and has no idea how much better she has it than many other children in the world. Does she think it is okay to deny these children in the poorest countries running water and electric power?

If Howard's post were a tweet by a public figure instead of a comment by an internet troll of dubious provenance, it would soon be deleted.

Did you ever watch the series City in the Sky? Great behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to get a million people airborne at once, sustain them, keep them in the air and land them safely. An astonishing feat of human effort and ingenuity. Almost as great as the worldly accomplishments of Sainte Greta.

Donald Trump Jr. has some image problems, but it must be remembered that he has never hired strippers to shove dildos up his rectum. Not that there's anything environmentally wrong with that.

Stephen Taylor said...

I'm fasting right now, and I'll be fasting until noon today. I fast from bedtime the night before to noon of the next day. I do this every day. I feel great, and there is no hunger. The pounds are dropping off. I did a 36 hour fast this past weekend, from 8 PM Saturday to 8 AM Monday morning. Again, no problems. There was hunger at about noon Sunday, but it's not extreme, and not of the sort to make you feel puny if you don't eat. After a few hours the hunger goes away.

The fasting is part of a ketogenic diet, which has caused me to lose 75 pounds in 18 months. Since my wife and I don't eat nearly as much, for Thanksgiving I'll have a turkey thigh and she'll have a turkey breast. We'll also have sliced onions, cherry tomatoes and olives. We probably won't even finish these pieces of turkey, as we both get full very quickly. My favorite snack on keto is a small bowl of almond butter mixed with pecans. Just awesome.

Yes, the fasting is a thing, and it works, and it isn't hard and I'd recommend it for anyone. Ms Althouse is correct; the American diet is for shit. Nasty processed food, with far more carbohydrates than the body possibly needs or can use. Sugar is added to so many foods, and your body simply does not need the extra sugar. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

This diet, which is really a lifestyle change, has enabled me to cure my diabetes, or put it in remission as the doctors prefer to say. I sleep better, have more energy, more endurance while exercising, and my libido is far stronger and the sex is much, much better.

I'll never go back to the American Diet. It's toxic. Thankfully, we are still able to eat all the barbecue we want, and being in Central Texas that's a considerable blessing. It's the small things.

Have you seen the carbon footprint of the internet? It approaches that of commercial aviation.

Of course, it might seem hypocritical for me to be highly active on the internet urging diminished use of the internet, but I can't make a difference all by myself. Everyone has to do as I say. I have the right to demand that, because I care so much.

You all have a happy Thanksgiving. That last part is actually not tongue-in-cheek.

Trump's boxing picture is a joking reference to something he said in his rally.

President Donald Trump railed against news media coverage of his recent visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at a rally in Sunrise, Florida, claiming it had been reported he'd had "a massive, unbelievable heart attack" -- and then adding he has "a gorgeous chest.

The president doubled down on the "gorgeous chest" claim Wednesday morning, tweeting a photo-shopped image of his face superimposed on what appeared to be the chiseled body of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa.

Progressives have no sense of humor.

Yancey Ward said...

Scale matters. That graphic, with all the planes in the air today, looks amazing, but the visceral response is greatly affected the fact that the planes in it aren't scaled down to their real size in comparison to the US map. If they were, you wouldn't even see them in that image since one plane doesn't even come close to being the size of a single pixel.

Obama had something similar going on with his "stray voltage" theory. He would intentionally rile up his opponents by doing something provocative in order to keep them from talking about anything he didn't want to talk about. Only Obama did it with crazy policies, and Trump does it with crazy tweets. Tweets are healthier.

You want to know why Klobuchar, Booker, and Castro can't make a move in the polls?

They don't have any heat. They're broadly acceptable to the Democratic primary voters, who therefore see them as interchangeable and, ultimately, replaceable.

The problem is, none of them have the personality to sustain a heel act. They need uniformly positive coverage, which they're not going to get in a crowded field.

The world uses about 1.8 billion barrels of aviation fuel per year. This is only 5.8% of oil consumption.

This is 1.03x10e+16 BTUs used in aviation of all kinds each year. Total electricity consumption worldwide is roughly 7.5x10e+16. So aviation is about 1/7th of total electrical consumption.

Greta may be too much progressive , she has to learn more to control before stating anything about politics and the bigger problem , the way mankind treats nature , the result of our behavior will obviously affect the next generations , and no one right here will be responsible for that

Sorry Bill Peschel 'Mother Nature' produces 96% of all CO2. Man-made produces 4% of which plants probably absorb 2% of the 4%. Hot Houses and Submarines content of CO2 are huge with little ill effect on the participants.

Raising the end-user price of fossil fuels by 20X or so would have a huge effect, even if this were limited to fuels used for transportation. For few would travel if the cost were that high, and the cost of goods would increase sharply.

Possibly leading to a second Great Depression. Which, by sharply reducing consumption of practically everything, would surely have a "huge effect" on fossil fuel consumption.

Of course, there would be some side effects But, sometimes ya gotta break a few eggs to make that enviro-omelet.

Global warming and pollution are two different things. The sun has a lot to do with the former. Not much we can do about it. As to the latter, yes, we can have some impact on that. Teach our kids how to be good stewards of the earth, not let 'the elites' scare hell out of them while doing nothing about their own vast carbon footprints.
