Alert. A giant ball of 15 million Kelvin fusion reaction converting 600 million tons of hydrogen into helium per second has been spotted rising over Madison. We better call AOC for instructions on how she will handle this crisis by giving her control over everything.

This looks like an openish post. Last night, I had a dream that I was in Madison during a day and that it was my understanding that to post on the blog, I was to go by Althouse's house and use the computer there. I drove over and parked in a residential neighborhood and there was a spiral staircase outside the house, the small kind of spiral staircases that go straight up like you might find in an apartment, that led up to a deck. I climbed the staircase then as I was walking across the deck I saw Meade, presumably, pushing a bicycle through the house like he was about to head out to ride. The door from the deck was unlocked and I opened it into a bedroom where two small dogs were lying in a corner on a blanket. They wagged their tails. I was feeling uneasy like I wasn't supposed to be doing this but I proceeded. I left the bedroom and went down a hall and into another room that was like a spare bedroom. When I entered that room, Ann was sitting at a desk, looking like Ann but with black hair. The same style but black. I said, "I'm sorry, I thought I was supposed to come by here to post." Ann smiled and said, "That's okay," and got up and left the room to give me the computer. At some point, I left the room and retraced my route back to the other bedroom off the deck. When I opened the door to that bedroom, one of the dogs got out. That worried me a little but I went back to the door that opens onto the deck, went out, and shut the door behind me. When I shut the door, I messed up metal strip around the pop-in screen a little. I was thinking this was going to make Meade mad and I was afraid that he were going to put a post up on the blog telling people not to come by the house to post and telling about me messing up the screen etc. I went back down the spiral staircase and, although I was still feeling uneasy about having been there, it was clear to me that the staircase was there for exactly the reason I used it. So, that's what I was dreaming about sunrise, to tie it in to the post.

This photo, beautiful of course, is positive support for your argument that some clouds are a key contributor to an excellent sunrise. The question is whether or not there is an optimal amount?

Anyhow, with all this talk of Russian Assets among the opponents of Hillary, Quid Pro Quos, and political discord this Warren Zevon song has become stuck in my head:

Lawyers, Guns and Money

Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too

I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this

I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck

Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The shit has hit the fan

@Mid-Life Lawyer
the free flow of dreams is over. Your subconscious activity will now be subject to moderation.

broke the screen = got thru moderation

From WND:

"The Canadian zoologist who led the way in debunking the claim that climate change is endangering polar bears says the University of Victoria bowed to "outside pressure" and fired her.

Susan Crockford, an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Victoria in Canada for 15 years, said her renewal application was rejected without explanation in May, despite her high profile as a speaker and author due to her polar bear research and expertise in mammal bone identification, the Washington Times reported.

Her research showed polar bear populations are stable and even thriving, contrary to the claims of climate activists that their numbers are plummeting due to shrinking Arctic sea ice."

That was as vivid a dream as I have had in a long time. Interestingly, I took an extended release Adderall yesterday for the first time ever. A friend of mine had some that a family member had stopped taking because they switched to a different but similar drug. I wanted to see what kind of effect it would have on me. I'm writing something and I procrastinate etc. and I thought I would try and then if they fit me, try and obtain some in an appropriate manner. The verdict is not in on the Adderall. I'll try a few more times. I have some that are not extended release to try, as well. Obviously, the dream has to do with the new moderation even though I don't post on here much at all. I did take the moderation poll the other day and I picked the second choice which was that it bothered me but I understand the need.

It's a matter of taste, but the most extreme sunrise would have a lot of clouds, clouds with good texture and variation, and spaces for the sun to get in under them. It the sun is completely behind the clouds, you get basically nothing. If there are no clouds at all, it's close to nothing. But I like the minimal, wispy clouds like this morning. Click on the sunrise tag to compare the sunrises I've done in the last 2 months, with lots of different cloud types and with the same view over the lake.

A matter of taste, agreed, completely subjective.

I like your October 10 and 18 photos best. The water, unsettled a bit, makes for a nicely disturbing contrast to the sun and sky. The grey on grey ones are notable too, they are muted, sober, somber - not that there is anything wrong with that, it has its place and conveys a mood.
