"For the fourth week in a row, the White House and top House and Senate Republicans have refused to come on this newscast to answer our questions about all of these important developments."

"The invitation remains open. We hope they will come to explain all of this to the American people, because especially at a time when the White House has ended the practice of regular press briefings, they are shirking this important part of their duty to the American public to explain what they are doing with our money and in our name."

Jake Tapper said on his "State of the Union" show this morning.

I scampered right over to Twitter to see if Trump had responded. No. Not yet at least. I expect something about "fake news" and how "unfair" CNN always is to him.

Republicans should have stopped going on "the Shows" years ago.

The only problem is CNN will have no problem putting self-identified "Republicans" on air and having them say whatever they want them to say.

I keep mis-reading the US Constitution! I didn't REALIZE that the 1st amendment stated that the President has a duty to go on TV Talkshows!!!

Guessing Tapper opted not to mention the Project Veritas tapes exposing bias against Trump at his network. I don't see why the administration is obligated to speak with specific reporters. Just as CNN cheered when Obama and his administration boycotted FOX news, Trump can select what reporters his staff give interviews to.

Why in the world would any Republican go on CNN ?

CNN ratings are low.

The Trump administration officials only go on The Shows. CNN is not one of The Shows anymore. Trump hates low ratings.

Why should anyone (republican) go on when they'll just make stuff up no matter what? Fake news indeed.

hearing someone from this "news" organization talk about "shirking" a responsibility that doesn't exist is a joke, compared to their utter abandonment of any serious journalistic principles.

Oddly, while I don't scan the NYTimes or Deep State WaPo, impeachment has dropped off the first, second, third, fourth pages or the entire WSJ entirely except for the weekly early-elderly white female baby boomer sighing of Peggy. But not only has it dropped off WSJ, it's dropped off the entirely leftist news.google feed I have.

It's so pompous and tiresome for Jake Tapper to purport to speak for "the American people". He has a cable TV show that reaches a few hundred thousand liberal politics junkies in a nation of 330 million. Come down off your high horse, Jake. There are other ways for the White House to get its message out to the people.

Trump uses Twitter to do all of that, and pretty effectively.

Tapper is delusional that having White House personnel on his show would somehow inform the American people. It would be rabid partisan shitshow, obviously, and we already get quite enough of that.

Project Veritas has shown that CNN is run with an iron hand by it President Jeff Zucker. He calls a meeting every 9 AM and gives them their marching orders, which are always the same "Get Trump". Tapper just does what Zucker says. There's no reason for anyone to go on his show, CNN is ratings disaster, and Tapper is just another Liberal Democrat Newsman, no different from all the Left-wing Democrat's at MSNBC/NBC/ABC/CBS/PBS or WaPo/NYT/New Yorker

Paul Snively said...

I heard Tapper say this, and had to bite my tongue to keep from literally braying laughter.

"If Trump doesn't hold White House press conferences or appear on our network's shows, then he isn't explaining himself to the American people."

He's explaining himself to the American people just fine, without the filter of the spectacularly biased "news media." I'm among the not-a-Trump-fan group--Rand Paul was my guy in the primaries--but it is undeniably refreshing to see him repeatedly give the press the "fuck you and the horse you rode in on" they so richly deserve.

I'll be fine with "four more years" of that, especially with the Democratic front-running cuckoos we have in the "debates" at this point. Everybody from JFK to Paul Tsongas (who I was hoping to vote for) is spinning in their graves over the current loony left Democratic Party.

rcocean said...

Basically, if you count C-SPAN, there are 8 TV news channels Trump and the WH officials can appear on. There's no reason to go to CNN - no one watches it.

I think Trump and other Republicans should refuse to go on his show until Tapper proves beyond any doubt that he has has never raped or assaulted any woman in his employ or acquaintance. The fact that there are no specific allegations against him just demonstrate the culture of fear and repression that exist at CNN. Why are women willing to speak up against Matt Lauer, Les Moonves, Charlie Rose, and Roger Ailes and yet none come forward with evidence against Jake Tapper. As in the Russian collusion scandal, the absence of evidence is proof of a larger conspiracy.

Mike Sylwester said...

Anytime I want to watch a panel of Trump-haters, I turn to CNN.

cubanbob said...

CNN is nothing more than a propaganda arm of the DNC. Much the same can be said of the other networks? Who wants to watch pointed, misleading gotcha questions while disallowing the deponent both the time and ability to rephrase the question and answer? I said deponent because that is what these shows have mostly become; depositions. What Trump should do should the Republicans wind up with both houses of Congress is to propose cable unbundling. If the subscriber wants packages fine. If they want ala carte fine. Then let's see how many subscribers are willing to do without CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC.

Tapper can invite George Papadopoulos, who can explain how he was framed by our Intelligence Community in the RussiaGate hoax.

How many times has Papadopoulos been interviewed by CNN? I'll bet he would go on Tapper's show.

Jake Tapper's quotation is laughable. Why should the WH or any non-democratic politician even bother? No one meets the press more frequently than this President; his staff just figured a way to one-up the preening media schmos whose real agenda is being seen on-camera, bringing Truth to Power.

I watched Pompeo give it right back to the biased weasel Stephanapoulous this morning and thought, the Sunday shows are propaganda for both sides, nothing more. Chuck Todd talks over any non-Narrative friendly guest to obscure salient points. Bartiromo's show is better, but it's obviously got its own take as well. (And does anybody still watch Face The Nation?)

The leftist talking heads act as if opposing viewpoints are some fringe conspiracy. The act is worn thin and Americans know it.

Maybe if CNN didn't lie all the time, they'd have better ratings. But with such low ratings, why should anyone waste time on CNN. I don't. CNN doesn't preoccupy my life at all. I'm aware of them like I am the Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. I know they exist, but not on my TV.

James O'Keefe has never been discredited, not even a little bit. The Left just figures that by shouting "debunked!" often enough, they achieve 90% of what an actual debunking would do. You can tell because they never provide links to any actual debunkings, or when they do, it's nothing but smears trying to make standard and necessary editing techniques used by ALL journalists look nefarious. O'Keefe generally always posts the unedited video too, but of course that runs hours, and the Left just counts on no one having the time to watch those.
