Is Hillary running?!

From "New Hillary listening tour: ‘I’d like to hear what you're thinking'" (Washington Examiner).
In an email to supporters, the 2008 and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said, “I’d like to hear what you’re thinking.”...

“I’ve been traveling and talking with folks around the world about their plans for the rest of the year. Some members of this team are doubling down on issues from voting rights to immigration reform, while others are focused on electing Democrats at all levels in 2019 and 2020. Like you, they’re all thinking about how we can best work toward making our country a place where the values we share are front and center — in our policy and in the way we treat each other,” she wrote for her group, “Onward Together.”
I said it last May:
Yesterday, on Facebook, my son John declared an "Open thread for your predictions on who’ll win the 2020 presidential election. I know it’s too early, but it’s still fun to guess." There were lots of answers, mostly "Trump," but some said Biden or Harris or Buttigieg. After 4 hours of that, I said:
Hillary. It’s her turn.
I laughed and I got laughs:
But is it a joke? Someone else commented...

She's perhaps counting on a brokered convention that no one can win so they have to call her in to be their "savior". LOL.
... and I said:
She's there in reserve. It's a joke until it happens. DJT was a joke until it happened. The funniest thing may be the most likely thing. All the other candidates are bad. I'm not sure the extent to which I was joking. You can't tell the difference between jokes and what's real in America anymore.
I certainly think Donald Trump is by far the most likely to win the election. That's easy to say because his party is pretty much adapted to him. That fight is over. What Trump did to the GOP has played out and (mostly) resolved. The Democratic Party is currently going through some kind of crack-up or evolution. It's fractured and chaotic, and there are — what? — 20 candidates and not one of them is much good. None seems equipped to go head-to-head with Trump.

But John's question is not which party do you think will win the 2020 election. He asks you to pick out a person, and the Democratic Party side is this huge collection of candidates. How can you pick out one and think he/she is more likely than Trump?

So let's ask the question a little differently...

News from the future: The Democrats beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. It was nothing in particular that he did. He stayed the same. And nothing changed in the economy or foreign affairs or domestic violence or anything like that. It's all about the performance of the Democratic candidate. Now: Who was Democratic candidate?

I'll stick with my Hillary answer!

She wasn't "the 2008 . . . Democratic presidential candidate". She was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2008. You wouldn't call Harold Stassen the "Republican Presidential candidate in 1944, 1948, 1952, * * *, and 1992", would you?

She was a lousy candidate in 2016 and she's given no reason to think that the last four years have made her a better candidate; just an older one.

So I hope she gets the Democratic nomination. They deserve her.

I can't believe Hillary Clinton is delusional enough to see herself as a viable presidential candidate. She may be trying to position herself as an eminence grise or power broker in the party. That's delusional too, but not quite as crazy.

Elizabeth Warren fills the preachy older white woman niche and has, despite the Native American embarrassment, a lot less baggage.

If the convention deadlocks, which it won't, they're more likely to go to Michelle Obama than Hillary Clinton. I think they're more likely to go to Marianne Williamson than Hillary Clinton. They'll flip a coin. Anything but Hillary.

I haven't seen a single photo of her since that has changed my mind. "Oh, she's looking better". Nope, not once.

I don't think she has the stamina to campaign, which may be why her team dreams of a "Hail Mary" drafting at the convention. If elected, she could just be a figurehead while Sidney Blumental runs the country.

** The MSM didn't break the story of her fainting on 9/11/2016 & getting tossed unconscious into the van. That video was taken by a bystander with a cell phone & it got aired on various right-wing sites until it could no longer be ignored by the media.

I think AA is right that all of the Dem candidates are likely to be losers, but Hillary! has the unique claim to be the only certified loser. It took talent to lose to Trump in 2016, and it's hard to see why the Dems would want to take a gamble that, four years later, Hillary! has gotten any better than the shrill scold we were all treated to last time around. Plus, they have a new shrill scold in Pocahontas who is a reliable uber-lefty.

But the problem with the parachuting prevaricating political princess is that her being handed the nomination will seriously offend the partisans of the various losers in the current Democrat clown car. Bernie Bros were cheesed off in 2016 when Hillary got the nod. If a brokered convention gives the post to Hillary (or maybe Michelle Obama) there are going to be more bruised feelings and abstentions at the polls.

None of that hoohah however hurts Trump. So I want the Dems to go at it, good and hard.

Britain is experiencing a major realignment, we are experiencing a modest one due mainly to a particular economic force. All the productivity increases over the last decade have been in 'blue' districts. There are a variety of takes on why this is, but the most obvious is that the red districts are not adapting culturally to a globalized economy. Ultimately the resolution will be younger people in these districts realizing that it is adapt or die (economically).

'“Blue” territories have seen their productivity climb from $118,000 per worker in 2008 to $139,000 in 2018. Republican-district productivity, by contrast, remains stuck at about $110,000.'

The 2020 election may be comparable to the 2000 election.

Democrats don't have enough Supreme Court justices to decide to stop elections on their behalf, though.

Whenever I think right-wing opinion in this commentariat can't get any weirder, I'm reminded of how many Republicans don't want to see Trump re-elected. I think even Joe Scarborough interviewed three challengers - Bill Weld, Joe Walsh and Mark Sanford. They all give almost as impassioned arguments against Trump as any Democrat.

I'm interested to see if any of the Trumpletarians here can give a defense for the RNC decision to cancel primaries in many states. How that comes across as anything other than weak and authoritarian is anyone's guess. I think they'll do anything Trump wants. They're like the Christopher character who believes that he'll do anything for his cousin Tony Soprano. And they'll get railroaded just as badly by him.

I am watching this realignment happening in my own Red district. The Red team have become increasingly anti-intellectual, while the Blue team has become increasingly focused on getting their kids the best possible education, sometimes obsessively. Neither trend is entirely healthy but guess which produces the best outcomes in our new global economy. The Red teams strategy is so obviously self-defeating that it is hard to fathom why anyone would take it, much less large swathes of the local population. But cultures facing change often become reactionary and that is apparently what we are seeing. It only exacerbates the problem that many of these same people are not competitive in a global economy and can only function in the local service economy, with its stagnant productivity and wages.

Michele knows the dirt piled up by Obama. They got away once but they won't again. She just won't do it.
Oprah has got a lot of sense; she ran a big enterprise and she can see the problems the country faces and knows what it would take to run it. If she hasn't been validated by running against Bernie and Elizabeth Warren, she can't hold the party together. She won't do it.
Bernie is a Commie. He won't do.
Biden is just a guy, not a bad guy, corrupt as hell but just looking for money and the good life for his kids. No socialist weirdness. But he's past it. He can't work at the campaign day after day and be OK, and what does that say about being President? He can't do it.
And it goes on like that.

Hillary + The Squad is the actual face of the Dems, and, I believe the Dems are going to pay for spending their time on impeachment and gun snatching and hating on hamburgers and other squad fantasies while doing nothing for the people. First Hillary will get the nomination and then she'll lose. But they just can't believe they are on the Titanic for a second time. It does seem a little hard.

She's not running. How do I know? She's too fat. She can barely move anymore. If she were running she would have lost weight.

My thought too when her picture ran the other day.

“You people don't understand. Hillary has grown over the last 3 years. She's *Listened*. She's older, wiser, more in touch with the common folks. And she won't ignore those hicks in Wisconsin and deplorables in Pennsylvania this time.”

Agreed, she appears to have put on some serious weight since 2016. But some of it may be hiding some sort of apparatus. In any case, she doesn’t have the health to run for President. Maybe she could completely avoid campaign events. But if there is even a whif of that, I expect Trump to use it successfully.

Hillary will never be President and the Democrats have abandoned America over their TDS, sad.

The torpedo she launched at Trump has circled back and sunk any chance she had. The old saying “always accuse the other guy of what you are doing” only works if you can keep what you are doing at least somewhat secret.

You know what would be epic? Brokered convention, Bernie 3rd party, Bernie + Hillary get NPV, but split enough states that it goes to a Democratic House … and the one state one vote gets PDT re-elected.

In anticipation of another Hillary run, the Secret Service has secretly embedded garlic cloves throughout the Oval Office.

If my Ford Truck is running perfectly -- which it is -- I'm not wasting time and resources rebuilding the drive-train and transmission.

It's only opinion of course but I think her health is shot. There's something very wrong with the outsized belly she's been photographed with lately, along with swollen lower calves and ankles--it seems obvious to me that it's not normal fat/overweight.

Oddly, Republicans aren’t upset, only Democrats. I am sure that you guys take into account how Republicans feel, first and foremost, when you make political decisions.

If she does run again hopefully there will be protests.
