Can a cake in bad taste taste good? I guess that's the question.

What poor nun was forced to bake that cake?

A lot of life boils down to whether or not there will be cake.

Tiresome.

The suicidal hatred of child bearing and rearing ravaging the West.

Might as well hand the keys over to the Muslims. At least they want to be here.

Proving there's more than one way to be a splooge stooge.

Am I the only one who finds Althouse’s dream of a unisex, faggotized world incredible dreary, monotonous and grim?

How did this bizarre, ugly ideal become our version of glamour?

It’s cruddy shit.

I would've thought that a cake celebrating a vasectomy wouldn't have any frosting.

I am Laslo.

gilbar said...

should it have been a nut cake? maybe a crab cake?

Laslo, you magnificent bastard!! 👊🏼

Bob Boyd said...

No frosting. Maybe a nut sauce.

A blog post that cuts to the quick.

People are weird, especially dad people.

I'm sure his wife approves. And the guy did give up something for her and the children now in the family for their future. So let a Patriarch celebrate a milestone in his Family's life. That beats mourning the death of futures .

I see that Kate the next queen is working on turning out a 4th little Windsor, and I bet she will then get her tubes tied and /or makes the next king do this snip forever.

They already have three children. You don't have to get every joke to realize they are jokes. Don't be like the Trump haters who refuse to acknowledge a joke is a joke.

Lot’s of joke material there.

“Jump right in. The water’s fine.”

“Time for a swimming lesson.”

The Church was always right about birth control.
Children happen, or do not, and should not be "planned".

And they are all gifts and family assets. Each is another opportunity to place a bet against the implacable house, nature, the universe.

To not have children is not to play the game.

Absolutely nothing that would be displaced by having another child is worth the cost of not having another child. These are vanities, foolish expenditures. Schools, universities, neighborhoods, they matter very little. What matters is innate in your children and yourselves.

Note that you yourself do not matter. You are here for a purpose, and being amused and comfortable while waiting to die is not your purpose.

He thought it all up BEFORE he got snipped.

What a fag. Such an occasion might warrant a scotch and a cigar... but a cake? With the kids? Wonder if the kids are even his...

He exceeded the replacement number. Try to think a little before you comment,

buwaya said...

He didn't exceed replacement by as much as he could have.
That is also a factor in the overall result.

Yes. It was a joke, light hearted way to acknowledge a serious life decision. They have had three children and have decided to have no more.

This is a pretty personal decision and can be made for all sorts of reasons. Some frivolous, some of which are life or death. Perhaps the next child will kill the mother for her medical conditions.

The wrong thing about this is trying to celebrate on the internet for Karma points and making your kids who don't understand WTF is going on wear those cheesy shirts.

And YES...even a cake make in bad taste CAN taste good. I've been to several bridal showers and baby showers with some pretty interesting cakes :-D

Eh, this one is by a married guy on behalf of his family. I don't really approve of the public celebration of private acts/decisions like that, but it's no big deal. I guess if you want to talk about how shameful it is for a person to disconnect their generative power from their sex life, or something, you could, but that remains a silly point given the realities of our current world.

The bad one was circulating on Twitter last week: it was a guy whose girlfriend posted congratulating him on getting a vasectomy "for them," including language about being good for the planet, and featuring a picture of her smiling and giving a thumbs up and him with a thin, insincere-looking semi-smile. That one would have made better blog-bait.

Thank you. Very nicely done.

LOL! He should have done DNA tests before getting snipped!

Get it reversed quick, young man! It gets harder the longer you wait!

I'm not into making everything into birthday or Christmas level events. Too much narcisism. Now in this case, it's not the man who's the narcissist, it's obvious his wife fishing for a bunch of likes on Instagram.

A friend of mine had a son who expected a leprechaun to come visit their house for St. Patrick's day because some mom at the school did it for her kids. Ridiculous. Same kind of thing as a cake and t-shirts for a vasectomy.

buwaya said...

No man is an island &etc.
We are a social species, and we are even better at monkey see, monkey do than the monkeys.

Anything done in public serves to persuade someone else on the margin, and moreover it serves to move the margin.

Don’t get the naysayers. It’s funny, and somewhat ironic, the kind of thing Fun Dad does with the sufferance of eye-rolling, yet chronically amused, Mom. This kind of couple and their little daughter were sitting behind me at a AAA baseball game the other day. I was stifling laughter through all nine innings.

Sydney said...

I understand the humor, but I felt a little sad about it, too. Like Buwaya said, children are a gift and to cut yourself off from that because you don't feel you can handle another gift is one thing, but to celebrate it is just kind of sad. Like celebrating your weaknesses.

SweatBee said...

Eh, it's much less disturbing than those baby shower cakes in the shape of a baby. If you're unfamiliar with those, head over to the cakewrecks blog where you'll find many examples. Alternately, get yourself invited to a baby shower hosted by ladies who are way too into Pinterest.

It was probably no big deal for the cake decorator, as the sperm on the cake look exactly like the "balloons" that get piped onto grocery store birthday cakes every day of the year.

chuck said...

Ah, how times have changed. I recall a machinist at the shop telling me about getting snipped and keeping it a secret from his wife. He felt supporting all his existing kids was already plenty of work but his wife wanted more.

You're the only here that seems to believe that Althouse endorses every story or item she posts.

Will this family have a cake for their son's first wet dream? Daughter's first period? The mother's yeast infections?

"A cake" (said AA) "to celebrate [a] vasectomy."

If you are a feminist, perhaps.

buwaya said: "...being amused and comfortable while waiting to die is not your purpose..."

This is true. Very true. Oh and yes we will discover our purpose by and by, by and by, even if all too often, we discover it too late.

I have reason to know this.

At least he had three boys. Perhaps one or more will be wiser.

A stork stuck in the road.

Or stork f***ed in the road.

As in "f*** you stork -- no more visits to my home."

Though '...in the road' makes little sense.
