"Rowling has been seen liking transphobic tweets in the past, though at the time, her rep said it was the result of 'a clumsy and middle-aged moment and this is not the first time she has favorited by holding her phone incorrectly.'"

"Now, though, she’s gone on a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist)-following mini-spree, meaning she’s choosing to introduce transphobic views into her timeline. Rowling follows less than 700 accounts on Twitter, and she recently added the aggressively anti-trans YouTuber Magdalen Berns to that list. Berns, who has called transgender people 'Blackface actors' has filled her YouTube account with videos like 'There is no such thing as a lesbian with a penis' and 'Misgendering is violence? Nah, mate!' and plenty of arguments over 'genital preferences.' Her Twitter account is no different. It’s nothing but anti-trans bullshit.... Anti-trans sentiments have established a stronghold in British feminism (as the NYT recently explored) and it sure seems like Rowling considers that movement 'thought-provoking' rather than abhorrent, as one might hope.... For a lot of people, this will raise the question of what this means for their fandom. Can they still enjoy Harry Potter and the rest of that franchise?... We’re giving money to someone with a gigantic platform who is serving to normalize transphobia for her audience, many of whom are young people."

From "J.K. Rowling Leaves Little Doubt About Her TERFdom" (The Mary Sue).

I'm reading that this morning after checking my Twitter feed and finding this:

Many women are the defacto enforcers of the religion of the household, whether it's Methodist Christianity or wokeism. Many men submit to this. I ask my husband why, usually when I am rolling my eyes at one of my men friends resharing some woke bullshit on social media, and he says that in many marriages it's the unspoken agreement. On Amazon Prime, they're currently showing Peter Hall's 60's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. I don't recommend it. The colors are all faded and there's too many jump cuts. It does have a distinguished cast, however. Judi Dench plays Titania wearing a body suit and green pasties. She certainly at that moment in her life had the gravitas to wear green pasties, but there just seems something wrong about looking at Judi Dench in pasties. Helen Mirren and Diana Rigg play the ingenues. They're both okay, but they were never meant to be ingenues. David Warner looked more like a serial murderer than a distraught lover....Many of the casting problems in Shakespeare's plays could be solved if we went back to the practice of casting transgendered men in the key roles. David Warner in a wig would probably be better than Judi Dench in the Titania role.

ISTM there is danger in asking for too many flags, because even the woke can't string a whole slew of them up all the time. And this: "LGBTQIA+" also seems like it's getting a little too clumsy. $20 for traditional mediums (drawing/painting)
$75 for non-fetish works.
$100 for bondage and light fetish works
Rates negotiable within reason"

http://elizabethclaret.daportfolio.com/about/

So, a mad, mad world? I got around to watching the Absent Minded Professor which I never saw till two nights ago. It was banned under my parents' Movie Code because it implied the possibility of perpetual motion and my father was not spending money on physical impossibilities and bad science. So the younger kids didn't go although it was Disney, and I didn't go as their babysitter, and I certainly did not go as a proudly-above-Disney college student. But I know what Althouse means about taking movie situations very seriously as child. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was filled with situations to ponder upon when I was twelve. Now it's just slow.

Correct. When I looked it up a while ago I saw that the difference between the Men's and Women's records in the 100m was a bit more than a second; the men being faster. One second doesn't mean much in most of our lives, but note that you have to get pretty far down the list of top male runners to get to the one that isn't faster than the women's record holder.

Allow men to compete as women in sports and you will no longer see biological women champions.

Rosalyn C. said...

I've been accused of being a TERF because I don't support transwomen athletes competing in professional sports. I think the biology is clear that men have different physiologies because of natural development which are not fundamentally altered by hormone replacement therapy. BTW, transwomen athletes are not required to have sex reassignment surgeries in order to qualify for competition (they can keep their dicks); the regulations vary and are constantly changing regarding the length of time hormone replacement therapy is required: one year or two. Still a lot of debate about the fairness of testing testoterone levels.

I had a discussion about this with some ladies who are pro-transwomen athletes. Their strongest argument was that some African tribes produce better runners, so should they be excluded from marathons because of their genetic advantages? IOW, all sports are unfair, so why not be nice and let transwomen participate? Bogus argument. When I looked at the records of the NYC marathon as an example I saw the difference in times between the mens' and womens' races is, of course, huge. In 2018 the mens' winning time was 2:05:59, the womens' time was 2:22:48.

I look forward to the storyline in the next book about the dudes taking over the female quidditch team.

"How would Arnold Stang and that other guy ever rebuild their little business?"

That whole sequence is boring, because J. Winters was NOT a physical comedian (ala Chaplin or Harold Lloyd) and Kramer knew ZERO about comedy.

In fact, almost all the physical comedy in MMMM-World is lame for the same reason. Sometimes the car chases are EXCITING, but they still aren't funny. Some of the sight gags are funny, Silver sinking in his car and the hat floating away. Or winters bicycling on a kids bike.

Having followed Wildswan's link from 6/26/19, 10:10 AM, apparently Ms. Claret is indeed a biological female. I'd still bet that in the name of equality, all penetrative sex between her and her husband is 50/50, with her allowed to use the strap-on of her choice.

I find it interesting that Althouse frequently posts about the UK. Americans are interested in certain aspects of the UK but notably uninterested in equivalent stuff happening in Italy or France or Japan or the rest of the world.

Americans find information about the UK more accessible because they speak our language. That makes it much easier to read the primary sources than it would be for countries that don't.

Does Rowling like lesbians who ejaculate semen faster that 27 mph?

it's only a a matter of time, before the full freakshow manifests

That awkward era where one hopes they do NOT reboot your favorite movie or book, because you know SJWs like Kathleen Kennedy will make a hash of it.

Star Wars - mary sue junk
Star Trek Discovery - I don't even
Marvel Universe - the Toxic Avenger hates white dudes

Just. Leave. It. All. Alone.

If we can get through this PCBS, in about a decade we can reshoot the last 6 episodes of Star Wars the way they should have been done, and file the SJW junk behind Aquaman and the Batman with nipples.

"Let the past die. Kill it if you have too."

The arrogant bastards probably never thought it would be applied to their own drek.

My 7 & 9 yo grandsons loved It's a MMMMW. They especially liked Drunk Thurston Howell III pilot and Jonathan Winters tearing down the gas station. I was impressed by what good shape Ethyl Merman was in... love the bloomers. My 13 yo granddaughter said meh and didn't watch it.

Not with my penis, anyway.

Rowling is transgender? Transversal sexual orientation? Does she support selective exclusion ("=")? Why are the transphobes attacking her?

I'd love to see these questions at a presidential debate: Can men get pregnant? Do lesbians have penises? If the Democrat says 'yes' to either, he's a national laughing stock.

I think you meant to say “there is no such thing as a lesbian who doesn’t enjoy a penis from time to time.” At least that’s my experience.

Other English-speaking countries aren't paid much attention. There's not much American attention paid to the Australian health care system, or politics, cultural debates or trade policies. English is a bridge language in many countries. Take Israel for example: there's 1 topic that's covered but health care, internal politics, or tech growth are all things that are rarely written about in American papers, despite lots of information published in English and accessible in on-line Israeli papers.

It is not transphobia. Unfortunately, those of you who pander to "trans" are exploiting their mental illness. It is sad for them that they are mentally ill and even sadder and should be criminal for those who reinforce them.
