Whoopi Goldberg to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: "Before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you got to do something too."

On "The View" today.

My favorite thing about this is, Abby Huntsman immediately intones in the flattest possible voice, "That's well said. That's really well said." She knows her place, Huntsman does. Unlike some people. Pooping people.

So, what, is it Talk Like You're in Kindergarten Day on the left? What is with these people.

Whoopi's making a good point about being an adult - why not make it in an adult way? Unless, of course, Whoopi meant to be terribly insulting. If so, I think Whoopi underestimated the analytical facilities of Ocasio-Cortez's primary constituency.

First, I object to referring to the Congresscritter by her initials. We don't do that until you're elected president, and she's got 10 years to go, I think, unless we amend the Constitution. I don't care how difficult it is to spell her name.

Second, she's one of the most important members of the House, judging by the amount of press she's getting -- and she got it without even calling Trump a c*cksucker (in public).

Third, I'd kill myself before I'd support any statement by Whoopi Goldberg, any statement at all.

I like AOC because she's a fluke, an accident. She wasn't supposed to unseat a powerful congressional Democrat. Once she won the nomination in a safe district, she was a lock to win. I'm actually not sure if she's an endorsement for safe districts or a cautionary tale. She is a strident, energetic leftist. She will bring certain ideas, nearly all bad, to the public debate. I welcome the greater opportunity to examine her ideas and reject the stupid ones.

Reminds me of how Don Felder was kicked-out of the Eagles...

The Night the Eagles Imploded

The low point arguably occurred July 31, 1980, when the group — already worn down after the interminable process of recording 1979's The Long Run — wound up its tour in support of the album with a benefit show in support of California Senator Alan Cranston. During a meet-and-greet before the concert, an exchange between Cranston and guitarist Don Felder proved too much for Glenn Frey to take.

According to Frey, when Cranston thanked each member of the band for doing the show, Felder responded with "You're welcome, Senator ... I guess."

Embarrassed and enraged, Frey fired back at Felder, sending years of pent-up tension unraveling onto the stage. "I felt Don Felder insulted Senator Cranston under his breath, and I confronted him with it. So now we're onstage, and Felder looks back at me and says, 'Only three more songs till I kick your ass, pal.' And I'm saying, 'Great. I can't wait,'" Frey later recalled. "We're out there singing 'Best of My Love,' but inside both of us are thinking, 'As soon as this is over, I'm gonna kill him.' That was when I knew I had to get out."

No doubt the DEMe are out to silence her. See this CNN story:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's very slippery slope on facts

But I don't think they will succeed and if they do, some other politician will take up the issues.

She is an incredibly attractive person. Watch her interviews and she cones across as sincere and very likable.

Also she is like Trump. Great at manipulating coverage but also banging on issues near and dear to the heart of the rank and file Democrats. Universal healthcare (and Republicans need to get smart on that issue), student loan relief and global warming.

She will be fascinating to watch.

Right now they are all sharpening their knives for her and the first opportunity they get, she is going down. They'll try and make it come from the Republicans, because they don't want to piss off their left wing faction (the majority of Dems now) who all love her.

But you can bet they're researching her right now and getting ammo to destroy her for 2020.

You have to love "The View." It's a tsunami of stupidity, a black hole of ignorance so dense that no intelligent thought can escape. Don't ask me how it's logically possible, but each co-host is dumber than the others. That's how intense their dopiness is--it causes a rift in the fundamental laws of nature.

As for Whoopi Goldberg's put-down of Ocasio-Cortez, internecine warfare on the left is always entertaining. But don't worry, one day before long Ocasio-Cortez is sure to turn up as a guest on "The View," and you can be confident the co-hosts will fawn over her as if she were the love-child of Bernie Sanders.

But promoting stupid ideas is one of the ways to obtain power. There are no shortage of progressives, conservatives (and even libertarians) who keep falling for the same stupid ideas. Just need to be together a coalition big enough ofvthese stupid voters to get elected.

She got elected. Now she needs to obtain more power. No different than Osul Ryan 30 years ago with his boyish charm and idiotic policy proposals. But I like Ryan she doesn’t want to wait so long.

I give Cortez a good chance at pushing the old guard out of the way. She’s learning on her feet and seems to have some sense as to what buttons to push. It will be tempting to just be bought off by Pelosi and company. They will make her rich. But money itself won’t be enough for her. She can push them out of the way and get Rich.

She is smart to follow Trump’s tactics. He pushed the whole GOP out of the way. Actually, he flushed them down the toilet. The ones still left are survivors. The shit streaks that cling to the side of the howl. They will continue to cling because thryblike what power they have.

Bernie Sanders is far too old and too ugly to pull off this power grab. But Cortez might be able to do it. Beto can do it if he wants.

They will keep putting themselves out there making themselves the public young! energetic! Full of vim vigor and fresh ideas! face of the Democrat Party.

Then, in 2 years when the public is sick of their antics, they have only 2 years of experience and are easy to pick off.

Their base, the inner cities, are now working, seeing some improvements in schools, and perhaps starting to feel a bit better about their lives. They may be thinking "Do we really want to go back?"

Getting these huckleberries elected also meant that some of the fopdoodle republicans are no more. They can now be replaced with good people from both parties.

She's optimistic, fresh, authentic, progressive, creative, articulate, and has the right-wing freaking out with fear of her. She pulled off an upset in a district dead-set on promoting the next corporatist career politician to lead the Democrat party in alignment with the right-wing corporate Republicrazies indefinitely.

I like listening to her. She's fresh. She's got energy. She's not afraid. And she's dead-to-rights on the issues. And which failed ideas are those?

That tax cuts increase revenue? We know that's false, failed, ideological and bad.

That if we give the Pentagon more money we'll be more respected in the world? We know that's false, failed, ideological and bad.

That helping the top 1% of income earners, the hedge fund traders, or any douchebag on Wall Street - will do anything for the working class? Nope, we know that's false, failed, ideological and bad.

That letting polluters do anything they want will help our economy and our health? Nope. We know that that's false, failed, ideological and bad.

These are all of your bad, wrong and fool-hardy ideas. Republican tricks that haven't done anything for anyone for decades - except for the donor class that your party is owned by.

OTOH, doing more for our own people instead of the donor class - just like every country in Western Europe and Scandinavia does - leads to a more cohesive and secure and functioning society. But that would be a success story. We've done it before in our own history - esp. in the 1940s and 50s.

But your tribe can't handle success stories. The only thing they can and ever have offered America is fear. And the only thing they've ever delivered on is disaster.

But do keep telling us what your donor class is telling you to say. We know you can't think for yourselves so keep parroting those lines. You've past the expiration point for being able to run or win on them any more.

High-Income Americans Paid Majority of Federal Income Taxes

In 2015, the bottom 50 percent of taxpayers (those with AGI below $39,275) earned 11.28 percent of total AGI. This group of taxpayers paid approximately $41 billion in taxes, or 2.83 percent of all income taxes in 2015.

In contrast, the top 1 percent of all taxpayers (taxpayers with AGI of $480,930 and above), earned 20.65 percent of all AGI in 2015, but paid 39.04 percent of all federal income taxes.

In 2015, the top 1 percent of taxpayers accounted for more income taxes paid than the bottom 90 percent combined. The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid $568 billion, or 39.04 percent of all income taxes, while the bottom 90 percent paid $428 billion, or 29.41 percent of all income taxes.

DJIA change for 2018 was negative. Yet somehow Michael the elitist figured out exactly which quick, temporary upticks to get in on and get out of.

I'm sure you'll be good if this is only a sign of another crash or some such "correction" or disaster to come. I mean, even after 2008 all you guys and your guys were fine.

You guys like doing things like this to America. Somehow or another, you always to end up ahead anyway.

Looking forward to a higher AMT? The 70% top marginal rate probably won't come into vogue without going after the rest of you 12-percenters (or whatever outrageously low rate you pay), as well.

Keep making your gains where and when you can. You know you can't keep keeping your country engaged this way.

Dude, you can sell and buy as selectively as you want. You keep thinking you have a point, other than that people who work two jobs at below-cost-of-living wages either shouldn't exist or shouldn't be seen by you.

But I think you're not too stupid to know they exist and that they vote. I realize you wish they didn't, but they do.

This might not bother you. But I am an American, you see. So I think this country exists for reasons that go beyond just your own benefit.

Your disbelief in innovation is cynical and un-American but in vogue among the lobbyist donor class. Sounds like you've thrown in with the "coal is king" fallacy. Okaaaay.

There might not be a 70% marginal rate today or in the near future. But keep pushing for more 1920s-era economic policies and we'll get there. History, and all. No 1950s without the 1930s and 40s. Thanks, Coolidge and Hoover!

1950s. Wow. Height of American glory. Technological innovation everywhere. 90% top rate on the Michaels.

We'll get there again. It's just a question of whether you want to go willingly along with it or if you want another crash, first. I can hardly believe that 2008 alone gave you enough of what you were really after.

Solar's become cost-competitive with conventional fuel. Storage is the issue. It makes sense to support research into storage; the technologies for generation however are supporting themselves. Probably through the work of many other countries' industries - including those in the one to which the debt for Michael's tax breaks are owed: China.

America can't stop those industries. Trump is just trying to save one of them most desperately - the one he wanted to force utility suppliers to buy at uncompetitive prices: Coal.

There's no problem stopping subsidies for renewables if subsidies for fossils were stopped. But they aren't. The donor class owning the Republican senate is still too strong to allow it.

Michael can't cite a single fact to dispute any of this and he knows it.

If there is one thing pro-vaccine campaigners and their opponents probably agree on, it is that Donald Trump has provided a major boost to the anti-vaccine cause.

On more than 20 occasions, Mr Trump has tweeted about there being a link between vaccines and autism, something experts at the government’s leading public health institute say is not true. He also repeated the claim during a Republican primary debate, a remark that was immediately dismissed as false by the Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

Prior the election, Mr Trump met with four prominent anti-vaccine campaigners at a fundraiser in Florida – disbarred British doctor Andrew Wakefield, Mark Blaxill, editor-at-large of the Age of Autism website, Gary Kompothecras, a chiropractor and Trump donor from Sarasota, and Jennifer Larson, an entrepreneur who has campaigned against the use of vaccines in her home state of Minnesota.

etc.

I have invested in battery technologies for twenty years. It is apparently way more difficult than tossing money at it.
And saying solar is great but storage is the issue is pretty much like saying solar sucks except when the sun shines. If there were no subsidies for coal it would not fix the technological challenge of storage for solar or wind. I have been very involved with these lame ass technologies for twenty five years and have lost a fortune in the process. Your beliefs are nice. Charming as I said.

We don’t need high tax rates. Just get rid of the deductions and exemptions.

When the marginal tax rate was 91%, tax shelters and havens abounded. Companies used to pay for the country club initiation fees for their executives and deduct them without the executives having to pay income tax.

Also, worthless trust fund babies like W as Jeb should be taxed at high rates. Those guys would be broke if it weren’t for the family money. W was a fall down drunk until he was 40. Same with the Kennedys. Trump at least works really hard. None of the Bushes did. They were lazy and entitled. Obama and Clinton knew how to hustle. Didn’t make it on family connections. Neither did Nixon. Guve then props for that. Their daddies weren’t the mayor of Baltimore or the governor of Michigan like Nancy and Mitt. Worthless.

The aristocracy in the US is ridiculous. Sons and wives of presidents should not be considered serious candidates for any office.

As for the GOP and Dems, they ran up the debt and continue to do it. They are both massive failures. Only hacks would defend these parties and their ideas.

Obama the Great never explained his healthcare as clearly as she just argued for higher marginal taxes.

If the latter doesn't happen, expect AOC to run in 2024 (she'll barely be eligible) and then the real run in 2028. (Ironically, by then she'll potentially have more real political experience then Obama did in 2008.)
