"She came to me — I was wearing my mask obviously — and she was like, 'I’m a great fan, but you know this already.' I was like, 'Wow!'"

Said MissMe, quoted in "Madonna buys work from Montreal 'vandal' artist, shows it off on Instagram" (Edmonton Sun).

MissMe wears a mask — a black whole-head covering with big round mouse ears — to distinguish herself as "an activist, feminist, and one of the most recognized outlaw artists in North America." It is certainly the case that some individuals are more recognizable in a get-up that hides their natural human looks. So many people look more or less alike. If you want to exhibit yourself as a celebrity, it might be a good strategy for some to wear a memorable mask — or other face-hiding material, such as a hairdo (example: Sia) or extreme makeup (example: KISS).

From the MissMe Instagram feed:

And then there's this new TV show, "The Masked Singer" (starting in January):

I'm not recommending that. It looks pretty annoying, and it seems so wrong to have to sing inside a mask — or are they just pretending to sing and the song is recorded? I can't use the term "lip-synching," because we can't see the lips. It's just microphone-holding in the vicinity of the lips. What celebrities are well-known enough to be held out to the TV-audience as celebrities they'll recognize in the final reveal who are willing to submit to this format? Maybe some singers who appreciate the pop-culture contribution of GWAR:

We had masked men in the 1950s. The Lone Ranger rides again. But why didn't Tonto get to have a mask too? I know, white privilege. But Tonto did get to have his own gun, I think. And that's all that counts.

The Edmonton Sun just raised her lecture fee by a minimum of 50%. Antidote to a toxic visit to your local campus by the likes of Ben Shapiro.

The school systems at every level force feminist indoctrination on my children and grandchildren. Commercial TV force feeds feminist indoctrination on them.

My tax dollars support feminist indoctrination centers at the state universities.

I had to sit thru feminist indoctrination sessions in college and on the job. Feminism is the official doctrine of the corporate world.

Yeah, she's really an outlaw.

Ever seen a picture of singer Sia without that oversized blonde wig that covers her face?

This phenomenon of the obedient schoolgirls pretending that they are rebels is a very curious one, isn't it?

Madonna's attack on family and religion is the orthodoxy of corporatism, academia, government and media.

Something mind boggling about all this fakery.

The activist feminist is not much of a gimmickist.

Leonard Blush wore a mask when he sang on the radio. He had some sorta' skin condition.

At least that's what Andy told Barn.

Ghost is better with masks than GWAR

Cirice

square hammer

Year Zero

I like how all members of the band wear the same mask, with no mouth, as "nameless ghouls".

Voices that all sound the same = boring. I guess that's why they need a costume gimmick.

Once you strip away the false mask, you reveal the true mask beneath.

Puddles Pity Party on YouTube. But at least he can sing.

Then there are a couple of DJs, like DJs from Mars and DeadMaus.

Masks are very effective for branding and for letting you walk around without being pestered.

The insistence that that guy walking by the mural "feels small" is just a way of saying, "look how big I am!" It's either narcissistic or just masked insecurity.
