From The Chicago Tribune.
You say you've been an advocate for women's rights, but are you also an advocate of the rights of the accused? You should be. I am. And I want you to have all your due process rights.
Also, the public advocacy for women's rights might have something to do with how you treat women in private, but not all that much. I'm not even sure which way it goes. Some people who speak publicly and grandiosely about abstract rights have big problems in the concrete specifics of their personal lives. Charlie Rose. Bill Clinton. Some of these big advocates make me wonder: What are they overcompensating for?
ADDED: From the TMZ report:
We're told security brought her inside the building, took her upstairs and Michael showed up 5 minutes later and ran into the building. He screamed repeatedly, "She hit me first." We're told he angrily added, "This is bulls***, this is f***ing bulls***." We're told he tried getting into the elevator but security denied him access."She hit me first" is inconsistent with "I have never struck a woman."

In a Day (2006) the minor heavy is a woman-abusing lawyer for abused women. Excellent romcom.
Another sneaky fucker.
Any man who prattles on about feminism and domestic violence is likely a sneaky fucker.
Honest, decent men tell feminists that their bitch is contrived bullshit and that they should go fuck themselves.
Must suck to be accused.
Must suck even more to be falsely accused.
Right shoe, meet left foot.
#BelieveAllWomenNoNotThatOne
Who is the woman? The victim?
I have it on good authority that it is none other than Doctor Christine Blasey Ford!
In public he is outspoken, aggressive, authoritarian, brash, boundry pushing, and demanding. Unlikely that he behaves differently in his personal life. Doesn't mean he did what he is accused of doing, but it is easy to believe it could be true. Also, is he an advocate for Woman's Rights because he believes so thoroughly in that cause and goal, or because it is a good way to make an exceptionally good living? Could be both, I suppose.
Soon, girls who didn’t know him in high school 30 years ago will be coming forward to share their truths.
Wasn't his first defense: "She hit me first!"?
NOW meetings were a place to pick up babes in the 70s.
I thought this guy was broke before the Stormy.
I’m shocked, shocked, that this self proclaimed champion of the downtrodden is apparently also a misogynist abuser.
from TMZ
Our law enforcement sources say Avenatti was arrested Wednesday after a woman filed a felony DV report. We're told her face was "swollen and bruised" with "red marks" on both cheeks.
We're told security brought her inside the building, took her upstairs and Michael showed up 5 minutes later and ran into the building. He screamed repeatedly, "She hit me first." We're told he angrily added, "This is bulls***, this is f***ing bulls***."
#Shehitmefirst
Slapping a hysterical woman used to be okay. Now they just stay hysterical.

When the democrats shove Hillary back down our throats in 2020 - Bill Clinton will finally face the reckoning he never faced.
Lewinsky, on Bill Clinton: (#a few days ago)
“If you want to know what power looks like, watch a man safely, even smugly, do interviews for decades, without ever worrying whether he will be asked the questions he doesn’t want to answer.”
We can't let him continue to be a lawyer due to the seriousness of the credible allegation #basta
#Believe all women.
Except the women Hillary Clinton trash on behalf of her political future. Nuts and sluts.
"Don't tell me what cases you've won, tell me who you've beaten"
- Michael Avenatti, posted on his personal website
I couldn't stop laughing for at least 10 minutes last night. Best guffaw I've had all year.
He needs to change the quotations that scroll across his webpage:
"Don't tell me the cases you've won, tell me who [sic] you've beaten."
"If you can't take a punch, you don't belong in the ring."
It seems a poor choice of phrasing now - more like a fake website set up by some Onionesque group.
You should have kept clicking, Lucid-Ideas, the next one was almost as good.
If she did hit him first, she should have used a baseball bat instead. That way, she could say he hit her first, and he gets to spend the rest of his life with a feeding tube, and a catheter.
"are you also an advocate of the rights of the accused? You should be. I am"
No. Not when it mattered.
"She hit me first" is inconsistent with "I have never struck a woman."
Not if someone else hit him second.
Domestic violence is, 99% of the time, a case of two idiots fighting and the smaller, weaker idiot losing. I used to do the odd volunteer work for the local battered women's shelter by running errands and picking up donations. After what I saw there - never again. Most of those 'battered' women are whores and harpies and druggies being enabled by abusing a social program. I no longer contribute a single dime to them - and recommend that you shouldn't either. It is largely a scam for otherwise unemployable social workers.
Here's an out for all those women "represented" by Avenatti who are facing civil/criminal prosecution for lies against Trump or Kavanaugh. Just say he threatened them and assaulted them until they agreed to make statements.
I have it on good authority that it is none other than Doctor Christine Blasey Ford!
Yes. It happened sometime in the 1980s or possibly the 1990s at an undisclosed location.
He should have known the right phrase was "put some ice on it."
You say you've been an advocate for women's rights, but are you also an advocate of the rights of the accused? You should be. I am. And I want you to have all your due process rights.
Nothing like being accused to clarify how one feels about victims rights. Victims have the right to be protected against the accused. The accused have the right to be protected against the state and those rights are more important.
Was he wearing a Wife-Beater?
#IBelieveHer, Michael, just like you always insisted!
He is sure touchy for a guy who brought false accusations to the Senate against Kavanaugh! I personally think that he set the rules where he's basically guilty. But it sure sounds like there's a better case against him being actual witnesses and evidence and the like.
Accoster's BFF.
I bet Avanti wishes that he hadn't worked so hard to undermine the traditions of the Magna Carta.
I wonder when certain leftists of the female persuasion, who were going on and on about how Avenetti would run and beat trump and we should all fear him.... how do they feel this morning? Yet another prominent leftist male revealed as a woman abuser.
When will we decide that decent, honorable leftist men are the very, very rare exception and not the rule?
Time wounds all heels.
Can someone tell me in which area his hypocrisy is greater: defending the rights of women or defending the rights of the accused?......On the plus side, he will not become a proper villain or an object of widespread mockery. I point you to the example of Schneiderman (I've already forgotten his first name). He was the NY AG who was active on women's causes and in physically abusing women he dated. After the story of his abuse came out, he became a non-person as opposed to a vilified person........I think the dynamics of philandering or of abusive relationships have nothing to do with political affiliations, but the historical record shows that you can get away with more and for a longer period of time if you're a Democrat. Avenatti is done, but no one will stick a fork in him to prove it.
A former neighbor, a minister and peace advocate, built a battered women's shelter (mostly for the local pros.) at his big D.C. church. We found out later he beat his doormat wife and hoodlum children.
Men and women are equal in rights and complementary in Nature. While a woman can cause injury to a man, the average man is physically stronger than the average woman. Chivalry requires a gentleman and a lady, initial deference to women generally, and men should be wary of responding in kind.
"Don't tell me what cases you've won, tell me who you've beaten"
- Michael Avenatti, posted on his personal website
As another commenter wisely "sicced" him on this, the correct word is "whom".
The irony in this situation is rich. He is, indeed, accorded the presumption of innocence (by the state) now that he has been charged. Me? I don't believe anything the Creepy Porn Lawyer says.
THEOLDMAN
This will have important ramifications in the next election. Florida is always closely contested. There are now 1.5 million felons who have been given the vote. Rapists and wife beaters are an important demographic. For all of the pussy grabbing rhetoric of Donald Trump, I think rapists and wife beaters all know that their true home is in the Democratic Party, and they will be voting for Dems for years to come.
The dark cloud of the War Against Women is forever hovering over Republicans but usually manages to land on Progressives and Democrats.
“Concerned” Dems aren’t concerned about past sexual assaults by Dems
Excerpts (but read the whole article):
It’s amusing, in a sickening sort of way, to hear Senate Democrats say it’s unacceptable to have on the Supreme Court someone “credibly” accused of assaulting a woman 36 years ago, when he was in high school. Who among these “outraged” Senators has complained about serving with Democratic colleagues credibly accused of, and in at least two cases admitting to, assaulting women?
Sen. Sherrod Brown’s ex-wife claimed that Brown threw her up against a wall and showed “physical violence and abusive nature.” This allegation is contained in court documents.
It must also be mighty difficult for Kavanaugh’s Senate critics to serve with Sen. Tom Carper. He admits he gave his ex-wife a black eye.
Sen. Cory Booker has admitted groping a friend when he was in high school. He made the admission in a characteristically pompous column in the Stanford school newspaper.
And what about Sen. Mazie Hirono? From her perch on the Senate Judiciary Committee, she asks every male judicial nominee whether he has ever sexually harassed or assaulted anyone.
Yet, according to the Washington Free Beacon, Hirono’s Senate campaign accepted $1,000 from Sen. Carper’s First State PAC in June of this year.
Finally, let’s not forget the case of Keith Ellison. He stands very credibly accused of assaulting two women as an adult. Contemporaneous police records back up at least one of the assault claims.
Yet, Ellison remains Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
Someone has to tell these guys that Clintonesque only works for Clintons.
Even if it is a false allegations, his temperament in reacting to them make him unsuitable to be a lawyer.
Avennati, scumbag lawyer for women accusing Kavanaugh gets HIS rights but what about Kavanaugh? Strange...Seems a bit of an uneven application.
But once again, when you are dinging men, you discuss overcompensation.
I wonder if you have ever put that same perspective upon Feminism and Feminists? Has a woman faced your 'cruel neutrality' of 'why are you screaming about men so much?'
What is missing in their lives that they are so hateful toward men? What are they overcompensating for?
Or is 'overcompensation' only a result of a Y chromosome and a penis?

People tend to gloss over the fact that back when Trump said; "they let you grab them by the pussy" he wasn't just a Billionaire, he was a Democrat Billionaire; and he was LOVED AND ADORED
In public he is outspoken, aggressive, authoritarian, brash, boundry pushing, and demanding. Unlikely that he behaves differently in his personal life. Maybe he finds Feminist women easy lays whom he doesn't have to buy dinner for. I hear he is as fond of paying bills as Trump is.
When it is a Democrat being defended, Althouse is out there making sure of the rights of the accused.
When it is a Republican...well...we have her revealed preference. Crickets.
As for supporting "women's rights" equating to good personal behavior, I have 2 words: Edward Kennedy.
So was this a call girl he hit or just an ordinary street prostitute?
Avenatti is an aggressive man. So he starts out with 2 strikes on him. Woman in a divorce situation do lie about their ex-man all of the time. But as a fellow trial lawyer, it is unlikely that he hit her. That is too dumb a move.
Inga and Ritmo were all in defending Avenatti last night on one of these threads. "Nothing you guys are saying is true"... something like that was said.
Someone grab screenshots. I can't, I'm at work.
According to the Washington Post:
"TMZ, which first reported the arrest, initially wrote that Avenatti was arrested after his “estranged wife” filed a felony domestic violence report. TMZ later amended its story after his ex-wife, Lisa Storie-Avenatti, said through a lawyer that the assertion was not true.
"'Ms. Storie-Avenatti was not subject to any such incident on Tuesday night. Further, she was not at Mr. Avenatti’s apartment on the date that this alleged incident occurred,' Storie-Avenatti’s statement said. 'My client states that there has never been domestic violence in her relationship with Michael and that she has never known Michael to be physically violent toward anyone.'"
So do you believe the woman and at what point in time?
And TMZ says:
"4:10 PM PT -- We were initially told by our sources the alleged victim was Avenatti's estranged wife. We now know it was not. The incident involved a different woman. "
she needed CPR after meeting CPL
what does a CPL say to a client with 2 black eyes?
"dont make me counsel you a third time!!"

Don't for get the chain of custody and the evidence seals because Soros will alter the record to make you and urine look silly.
Such buildings always have cameras now, right? Should be easy to show the running in, etc. part.
Howard is up, after wandering thru the thick crack-pipe marijuana haze. It's a wonder he found the button.
My guess is the bruises are fake. Just like CNN.
#believe all crafty left-wing lawyers!
Don't we need to know Avenatti's stance on Roe to select the appropriate level of outrage and urgency of due process?
Maybe Nina Burleigh owes him one.
"she hit me first" is pretty damning.
Democrats are all above the law. Nothing will happen to him. He can be Hillary's running mate. Well, either Avanetti or Menendez.
Put down the cigar, Bimbo, and back away slowly
Well it's Avenatti's turn in the bad public relations barrel. Could not have happened to a more deserving guy.
Is he guilty as charged? I don't know--we'll let the court figure it out. The woman in question will come forward (unless Avenatti pays her $300K or so to remain silent) and she will either be believed or not believed. I don't think much of the defense "she hit me first", since it implies that he struck the second blow. It does give the lie to Avenatti's claim that he would never strike a woman.
But Avenatti is guilty of being a publicity hound; sort of like a male Gloria Allred.
Aug 9, NYT:
"Yes, Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniels’s lawyer and Mr. Trump’s tormentor, is pondering a presidential campaign.
"He will be addressing Iowa Democrats on Friday at a party dinner, known as the Wing Ding, that is a traditional proving ground for White House aspirants in the first-in-the nation caucus state."
Wing DING!
Isn’t this innocent-until-proven-guilty due-process shtick just another example of civility bullshit?
"intended to harm his reputation"
Heh..
We found someone who said she saw Avenatti standing around the
punch
bowl 30 years ago.
"She hit me first" is inconsistent with "I have never struck a woman."
"She hit me first" is inconsistent with being a man.
It depends on what she hit him with, how hard, and where.
I do think "she hit me first", if true, and the response was proportional, is a valid defense. Or should be.
On the other hand, the Left will not accede to due process or fairness until they start getting some serious lack of due process and unfairness sent in their own direction.
So. Fry him.
Too bad Joe Pesci has retired from movies.
Even if the accusations turnout unsubstantiated, they are still accurate.
Remember when Bill Clinton's apologists said that we couldn't believe Juanita because she was a battered wife, and you know what liars they are!

Democrats never change. #NotMeantForUs!
“She hit me first”
I was trained by my dad, never hit a woman, l countered with, what if she starts it. Dad explained I would be a bad specimen on a man, if I couldn’t outrun a girl. There aren’t too many absolutes, this is one I have. Because of my dads example.
If "she hit me first" is his first excuse, before he had a chance to think about it as a lawyer, the man has a serious anger problem that he needs to address in anger management therapy.
Just like Accoster.
You know Hillary knew her husband is a creep. She only stayed with him for the perks of the high life and mega bucks public life offer - and the power and the climbing up the power ladder.
"She hit me first" is different to my mind from "I defended myself from her unprovoked attack."
@iowan2, back I my martial arts days I saw women attack each other in karate matches. Your father was not talking about fighters like them.
how fast is cnn purging the aveneetti archive?

Hey; I see Avenatti has now gone with the he was set up by some guy named Wohl. We're in the "The toaster is still loyal" phase of this farce.
Bill Burr weighed in on this issue.

But just to be clear: unless one will ALWAYS be for the rights of the accused, and not recuse herself in thundering silence when it is politically convenient, one does not get 'Virtue Points' for spouting off about your support for the rights of the accused if you do not do so in all cases, particularly when CALLED on it.
The viability of the Avenatti presidential campaign seems to be even less than Gary Hart's.
Oh, I think he deserves his day in court.
But, I also see no reason not to needle him with questions like: "Sir, do you still Believe All Women?"
"The viability of the Avenatti presidential campaign seems to be even less than Gary Hart's."
-- If he hadn't derailed the attack on Kavanaugh and was still a potential left-darling, they MIGHT have ignored this. But, he has both proven to be a bad politician, cost them their momentum and potential killing blow on Kavanaugh, AND he is alleged to beat women? That's a bridge too far. At least Bill Clinton and Ellison deliver politically.
I think it was his comment that 'the next president NEEDS to be a white male' did far more damage to his presidential 'brand' than having a whole stable of bitches he gave the pimp hand (to go back to your insane Swedish Women post)

It is in the same vein as Affirmative Action being demonstrated as hurting minorities.
Spoils systems never help the people they say they help. They are for the already connected and privileged.
Avennati is a crazy fucker, but, as Althouse rightly notes, due process is paramount -- even for crazy fuckers.
Let's chill and see what the evidence is. Maybe, she did hit him first, and he felt obliged to clock her in self-defense.
She rightly notes it with Avenatti.
Where was she last month when the issue reared its ugly head?
