"The buyers who seek out serial killer art don’t fall into easy categories."

"William Harder, who’s run Murder Auction from Fresno, California since 2005, says his customers aren’t just creepy murder fetishists. 'They’re regular people,' he says. 'I remember this contractor guy I sold to. He built houses and decks and stuff, and he came to me looking for something subtle. He told me, I thought about getting a Gacy, but I’m afraid that’s just going to attract too much attention. So he bought something by Charles Manson, but nothing you’d recognize as a Manson unless you looked closer and saw the signature.'... Murderabilia is in many ways a contradiction. The dealers and even the murderers themselves ask us to separate the art from the artist. Their creative ambitions aren’t an extension of their crimes; the two things, they insist, are unrelated."

In the first season of The Good Place (best show on TV IMHO) this is the artwork in Elanor's house. I thought it was a wonderful touch.

Here's how good this series is - I ***HATE*** watching Ted Dansen on screen, but I love his work on this show. Kristen Bell's beady little eyes remind me of a white mouse, but I look forward to seeing her every week.

There's a market for Adolf Hitler's paintings.

So many of us would like to separate the murderers from ourselves, only to be thwarted in the effort by death penalty opponents.

There’s no way this shit isn’t in the trash or gathering dust at the Goodwill if not for the notoriety of it’s makers. Sick fucks attract sick fucks? Who knew?

IIRC, Manson didn't kill anyone.

Not that he was charged with. The recent Manson documentary from Britain had Manson killing at least a couple of men that crossed him over the years. People that claimed to be with him at the time described the events.

It's Gacy's background that makes his pictures so disturbing. True performance art. Gacy's pictures are more disturbing than Manson's. Manson was more into music. Those pictures definitely have impact, but why would anyone want such pictures on their walls?........Hitler was a better artist than Churchill. Artistic ability doesn't tell you a lot about a person. For decorative purposes, a painting by Churchill rather than Hitler gives the room a more homey feel.

Come on. That's like saying Al Capone didn't kill anyone. He gave the orders to kill, and people died.

Manson was charged, and convicted, of first degree murder.

See also Adolf Hitler and Osama bin Laden.

I kind of like Hitler’s paintings. I guess that makes me a Nazi.

Once you start killing people it's going to affect your art.

All the good ones know that.
