"In March, [Cesar Sayoc] cheered on Republican tax policies, saying, 'You don’t have pay taxes on bonus yea Trump Trump Trump.'"

"In June, he tweeted a birthday card to Mr. Trump and wrote: 'Happy Birthday to greatest gift from God President Trump Trump Trump. The greatest result President ever and economy for all American Soaring 2016-2024 Trump Trump Trump.' And on Twitter, he began to attack prominent liberals, especially those who had either criticized or been criticized by Mr. Trump. He called Lena Dunham... 'Hollywood slime'.... He became obsessed with David Hogg...  accusing him of being a 'fake fraud' and being paid by the billionaire George Soros... In recent months... [h]is posts took on a darker, more obsessive tone, often accompanied by threats of violence and gory images of bloody animal carcasses...."

The Pittsburgh killer if asked wouldn't consider Sayoc to be white, well perhaps an honorary white but not a real white. Still these two have one thing in common; they hate Jews and in that they share a brotherhood with several prominent blacks. Imagine that, anti-Semitism uniting haters across racial and ideological lines.

There's a theory that white people will talk about slavery, but they'll completely wipe away everything that happened after that, from their memories - and attempt to wipe it from everyone else's - simply because there are blacks who are alive during Reconstruction. When I was a child, I had to get off the sidewalk for white people, does that count? Do you think it was cool for blacks to have to wait for whites to get over that we-rule-the-sidewalk thing? Do you think whites have made a full recovery? How do you know? They thought they were fine when they were doing that shit.

Y'all's the ones who need to stop complaining: American history says you've had it better than everyone and you got there through a blood bath. The least you could do is let others recover without your mockery.

I'm not a conspiracy theory kind of guy, but there is too much about this that pegs my BS meter. Sayoc seems one very nicely decorated van away from being a mentally ill homeless person, yet he managed to:
--Have a new looking van with the windows covered in what appear to be custom made professional quality pro-Trump messages.
--Build 14 convincing bomb replicas.
--Obtain the addresses of all of his targets.
--Send 14 textbook example suspicious packages through the USPS with incorrect postage and without cancellation marks.
--Arrange for almost all of the packages to be discovered on the same day.
IMO, there's alot more to this story, but we'll probably never hear another peep about it. Inga will be by shortly to explain that she once emptied 14 bed pans in 20 minutes and didn't spill a thing.

"Born of a virgin." Afterwards, three guys show up. I love that story.

It's a myth, which may or may not be true, but was passed down through history and time in the form of verbal and physical artifacts. It cannot be observed and reproduced or denied in the near-frame (i.e. scientific logical domain). It's properly characterized as an article of faith(another logical domain).

After Bible Museum scandal, more American Christians suspect they bought fake Dead Sea Scrolls

That happens in both free and closed markets. Ideally, it will be resolved through arbitration. Still, buyer beware.

Unknown said...

"But I think the odd shapes probably explain what happened in the USPS."

The odd shape, along with inexact postage, spelling errors, and apparent drop-ship are training exercise examples of a USPS "suspicious package." I know this because I underwent USPS training two years ago. The packages that I've seen of this incident look like USPS training exercise examples.

Let me guess-racism, or New Ageism?

Actually I decided you must have misunderstood the article-it never occurred to me that you would have intentionally mischaracterized it-because the trivial observation, that some people had bought forgeries of the Essene scrolls (as people have long been buying fake pieces of the True Cross, or fake Rembrandts, or fake Hitler Diaries, or fake cocaine or polonium), was IMO scarcely worth making.

Now to say that the actual find was a gigantic hoax, that would be colossal news, and I assign you enough credibility that I thought you might have had a real scoop, and clicked straight over. I was disappointed. So you take a little bashing, which you earned; it was mild enough at that. The bag was underweight, but it wasn't oregano.

Some form of apology on your part would have been appropriate, then I could have handsomely accepted it, then we would both feel better. Instead you have to come it all butthurt that you were detected in an error, which, of course, is exactly what happened to the Scrolls' authenticators in this instance.

Perhaps if I were a better person I would have laid more salve on your ego, but I'm nursing a cold and am testy. Also the Pittsburgh shooting, bad in itself, serves as well to turn over a rock and show us what lies underneath. Sorry if the rough edge of my tongue was greater than you could bear.

Re the USPS parcels: Anything 13 oz or over has to either have a meter strip or be metered at the (clerk's) window. This is an FAA regulation. The fake bombs would appear to be over 13 oz. Having stamps on them, they should have been returned to sender with a label explaining this. Agree that they look as if they were test parcels. Apparently USPS staff failed in this case. As to the cancellations, mail pieces are separated at the receiving facility into three types: letters, flats and SPRS (known as "spurs", they are "Small Parcels and Rolls"). Only the letters and flats go through a cancelling machine. The fake bombs are small parcels and because they are supposed to be metered, bypass that operation. AFAIK, one alert letter carrier caught on and marked one as "Insufficient Postage" and returned it. Yes, many items wind up not having their affixed postage cancelled. Postal regulations (and laws AFAIK) forbid you to use those stamps again. In that regard, YMMV. What is suspicious is that the majority arrived on the same day, all over the country. Experience has shown me that First Class SPRS take a minimum of 5 days. None of these were Priority Mail items.
