"Clearly, filtering isn’t [Alec] Baldwin’s strong suit... [H]e asked about Caitlyn Jenner—specifically her transition."

"At one point, he went off on a long tangent about how Jenner used to coach his daughter Ireland’s school track team. 'He would shake my hand, and I say this not with any judgment,' Baldwin began, all but promising an ill-advised comment. 'There wasn’t a drop of Caitlyn in him when I knew him.' After doing an impression of Jenner at the time, seemingly playing up his 'masculine' interests and demeanor, he concluded, 'I didn’t see any of that coming.' At Baldwin’s urging, [Kim] Kardashian discussed walking in on Jenner dressed in women’s clothing when she was 25, after which she immediately packed a bag and ran out of the house. Jenner told Kardashian not to tell her mother, saying, 'She’ll kill me.' Without getting into any of the reported drama between Caitlyn and the Kardashians, Kim said that she just wants Jenner to be happy...."

From "The Hell That Was Watching Kim Kardashian and Alec Baldwin Chat for an Hour/The second episode of ‘The Alec Baldwin Show’ featured a grueling sit-down talk between the reality-TV superstar and SNL’s Trump" (The Daily Beast).

As noted in the previous post, Alec Baldwin is in trouble.

For years, his go-to form of abuse toward men who piss him off has been anti-gay slurs. But as a famous liberal in good standing, he'd earned some indulgences.

It's always interesting to me when the left withdraws their protection of someone.

Let's see. He uses racist and homophobic slurs at will and he is abusive to his little girl.

But he's just now in trouble because he is not effective in his attacks on Trump.

Progressives have trouble with prioritising.

This year for the first time in my life, I will vote straight Republican ticket. These crazy assholes can't be allowed anywhere close to power

So the problem here is that Baldwin didn't talk enough about Trump?

Laslo, I'm not looking it up: Is that when the movie came out?

Meanwhile, in the not totally boring world of "Doghat" -

Chitwan Singh, station officer of Doghat police station, said, “How can we register the case against monkeys?"

On this date the absolute GAYEST, non-gay movie musical comedy ever: a movie so bad it may have single-handedly actually killed the disco era. Can’t Stop the Music opened in theaters starring Bruce Jenner, Steve Gutenberg Valarie Perrine, and the Village People.

Directed by Nancy Walker and ritten by Allan Carr & Bronté Woodard, the film is a very loosely based-biography of disco’s Village People which bears no resemblance to the actual story of the group’s formation done in spectacular gaudy technicolor!

The story is about Jack Morell (Steve Guttenberg)-a reference to Village People creator Jacques Morali- who gets a break DJing at local disco Saddle Tramps. His roommate Sam Simpson (Valerie Perrine), a supermodel newly retired at the peak of her success, sees the response to a song he wrote for her (“Samantha“) and agrees to use her connections to get him a record deal. Her connection, ex-boyfriend Steve Waits (Paul Sand), president of Marrakech Records (a reference to Village People record labelCasablanca Records), is more interested in getting back with her than in Jack’s music (and more interested in taking business calls than in wooing Samantha), but agrees to listen to a demo.

Maybe Baldwin has transitioned in the Left's eyes into Trump, a Trump they CAN do something about. So long, Alec, its been good to know ya.

The only good role I ever saw Baldwin play was Jack Ryan in "Hunt for Red October." After that he was too important for the role so they had to get Harrison Ford for the others.

"The Hunt for Red October" was a damn fine movie --and it still holds up 30 years after the fact.

And, Yes, Sean Connery was the star, but if you can believe it, Alec Baldwin was a pretty good co-star.

Bring back the young Alec Baldwin!

Bay Area Guy, 11:06:

Hunt for Red October was terrific. I'll give Baldwin credit too for:

- Malice, in which he gives a heart-surgeon's version of the Nicholson speech in A Few Good Men, also by Aaron Sorkin
- Glengarry Glen Ross, in which he has just over 7 minutes of extremely memorable screen time

Honorable mentions:
- The Departed, for playing an intermittently likeable asshole (probably not a big stretch)
- I've only seen one episode of 30 Rock, but I think his character came off stronger and more admirable than he was supposed to. (Much like Paul Newman's General Groves in Fat Man and Little Boy.)
- The Royal Tenenbaums for a wonderful narration. ("Immediately after saying this, Royal realized that it was true.")

I thought Baldwin was pretty great in "Miami Blues" opposite the always underestimated Fred Ward. Plus, though it ended poorly, he slept with Kim Basinger for chrissakes.

Ford was the best Jack Ryan, and Ann Archer was great as his wife. Baldwin was the second best. Patriot Games was the best Jack Ryan movie.

I had forgotten that one. That was a good flick, sort of like Harrison Ford's playing against type in "What Lies Beneath."

Baldwin was hilariously miscast in "Pearl Harbor" as Doolittle.

He was more typical as the faithless boyfriend in "Working Girl."

Putting aside Baldwin's piss poor Trump impersonation, he is a great comedic actor. He has been an SNL regular host since the 90's and his Jack Donahey character on 30 rock is still the most hilarious parody of a conservative to date. Sure he's a liberal asshole but we've known that for a while. Hope he isn't consumed on the pyre of political correctness.

This piece links another, better article, "The Complicated Politics of Alec Baldwin." An actor of Baldwin's quality deserves a major cinematic role as a bad guy, except that they don't make movies like that anymore.

The day that Jenner returns his gold medal for winning the Men's Decathlon and disqualifies himself for competing in a men's event as a woman, then we can begin to consider there is some intellectual honesty (or at least some real sincerity) involved here.

Howard, I don't have to "pat myself on the back." I think I represent the majority and that will become apparent.

It is certainly not the majority in California, which is why we left after 60 years in my case and three generations in my wife's case.

I had been spending long weekends in Tucson for 20 years and my youngest child graduated from U of A.

I think it was the plastic bag ban that finally made up my mind., We had dealt with craziness for decades but it finally boiled over.

The grandchildren are 7 hours away by car and the sanity level is far better here, even though Tucson is kind of a lefty city by AZ standards. It does have opera and shooting ranges. Big gun show this week end.

Let me know. We are always happy to see debaters.

Baldwin tried to fill in on a radio talk show in Philadelphia back in 2013. There are audio clips somewhere out there of part of his time on the air. He's so bad, so cringe-inducing, it's hilarious. After that, how anyone could give him another talk show...is, well, amazing, but not surprising. The left loves him and wants him as one of their 'smart' voices. He's had a number of radio and tv shows, as well as movies. He's great when reading good lines. He's terrible when left to his own words. Ask his daughter.
