I'm currently drinking scotch, listening to Earth Wind & Fire, and reading about Florida's Seminole stripper-bomber (allegedly...).

I would like to mention for the record that a threshold has been crossed. This is now clown world. I barely noticed the death of the old universe, but I am now nostalgic for it cause this new post-doom timeline does not agree with me.

Old universe, if you're listening to this missed connection, I miss you and I want you to come back.

Senator Grassley has sent a second referral to DOJ/FBI on Michael Avenatti. He lied about yet another "witness' against Kavanaugh, who was interviewed by NBC. She said Avenatti twisted her words.

Trump’s Party Is the Petri Dish for Diseased Minds That Grew Cesar Sayoc

“It is of course true that the overwhelming majority of Republicans are not violent. It is likewise true that nothing about conservative ideology or its program requires violent action. Nonetheless, the relationship between the two parties and violence is not symmetrical, and the fact that alleged bomber Cesar Sayoc had a strong identification with Trump and his partisan message is not a coincidence. The Republican Party encompasses an extremist fringe that nurtures violence in a way the Democratic Party does not.”

Speaking of diseased minds...

The bomber dude had a diseased mind for many years, with his criminal past.

Nancy Pelosi was in Detroit city today, stumping for Witmer and Stabenow. I'm sure she was counting the seconds until she could leave.

Witmer is Granholm 2.0, and just as incompetent. God help us if she wins.

Did the Feds have to bring in Elizabeth Warren to translate during the interrogation?

That would have been wise considering Warren speaks "injun" AND "Crazy".

Antifa is not an extremist fringe? Is it part of an extremist mainstream within the Democrats? The shrieking mobs at the Kavanaugh hearings and that drove Press Secretary Sanders and Senator Cruz from their dinners were not an extremist fringe nurtured by the Democrats? So that means that like Antifa it is part of the Democrat mainstream?

Drago said...

"So that means that like Antifa it is part of the Democrat mainstream?"

That is exactly what that means.

Exactly.

So far we've had three October surprises - the Honduran horde, the inexplicable stock market crash, the "pipe (dream) bombs". Next Mueller indicts Trump; then, Rhode Island declares war on everyone between the Appalachians and the Rockies; then, California threatens to secede unless Democrats are elected. Then, as I say, the November surprise.

Remember, remember
To vote in November
Against lefty treason and plot.
There's no real reason
Why lefty treason
Should keep what it has got.

Something I appreciate about Trump is how he soldiers on in the midst of demands from the media and continues doing whatever he thinks is important. The media still presumes that they can set his priorities, and force him to follow their narrative. Trump treats them as unimportant, and pursues his own priorities. It's fun watching journalists become flabbergasted that he doesn't pay obeisance to them.

This happens time and time again. Every time they magnify a crisis, such as with this bomber, Trump addresses it in his own way, then effortlessly moves on to what's important to him. They still cannot handle how irrelevant they are to setting his agenda. Every other Republican would wilt under the pressure.

The next few days Trump is still doing rallies, focused like a laser on the midterms. The hysteria over the bomber barely caused him to skip a beat. He praises law enforcement for a job well done (in front of black Trump supporters), calls for national unity, points out the media double-standard, and moves on to the next event on his agenda. It's truly a wonder to behold.

Trump has a backbone made of steel. The media and the Dems insist that he accept their presumed authority, but instead he continues implementing his strategy undeterred. My hope is that this latest mini-crisis (the bomber) will be one more nail in the coffin for the Democratic party.

We've a president locked in a long-running teenage putdown contest with a porn star and a lawyer who makes Roy Cohn look like Atticus Finch. For all that the president's probably preferable to the vanquished scold who couldn't sell beer on a troop ship.

And a person's whatever gender he/she/ze says he/she/ze is.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

"It is known infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are
Products of a deranged imagination"

Last Friday Barack Obama said that politicians “pump up the things that they did that are good. They downplay the things that they did that aren’t so good. They try to put a positive spin on things, but what we have not seen before, in our recent public life, at least, is politicians just blatantly, repeatedly, baldly, shamelessly lying.”

I guess he forgot his promise that if you like your healthcare, you can keep your healthcare. Or does he perhaps date his “what we have not seen before” to prior to his administration?

This is my reaction to Althouse posts; I am not necessarily inferring that this is Althouse's intentional message.

A lot of recent posts strike me as putting women in a specific negative light: that women are unable or unwilling to address in a rigorously intellectual way the issues affecting their individual lives. The Milwaukee divorcee who pretends to be someone she is not to be attractive to a new love interest; the writer who breaks up her decade long marriage to move to LA in order to solve her career problems; even -- in a way I can't quite describe Seinfeld's critique of modern comedy. It does seem like women are looking outside themselves to find solutions, and this outward direction results in a form of social contagion, in which women set aside their own abilities to reason and adopt the attitudes and behaviors of their book-club peers.

Blaming mainstream Democrats and Republicans for the existence and actions of fringe groups is the error. Doing so is done purely to advance a political purpose, and which is the disgusting part.

Sox lose in 18, glad I went to bed in the 8th.

Nor'easter forecast for today in my neighborhood, though the worst will be well south of me across RI and the Cape. High winds, plenty of rain. Generator is full of gas.

Dems have more crazies than the Republicans due to ideology.

Dems have an ideology of tearing apart the the old, to replace it with their own ideology founded on Marxist derived ideals that will create a beautiful society. Socialism has just never been done right, and this time it will work. Old stuff is all created by White cis normal patriarchs, and therefore tainted.

Jeff Teal, The Guardian publishes an article about the devastated Panhandle and Mr Trump's ignoring of the aftereffects of Michael every other day or so. I don't pay much attention to storms and their aftermath because, but maybe FEMA et al aren't doing a good job: if that's the case, I'm sorry.

If MLB cared about the players they would postpone today's game to allow the players to rest and recover. But they don't so they won't. Will be interesting to see the quality of the play this evening.

Marc until 48 hours ago anyone on the Sprint network had no phones. Most places had no internet I spent the first six days on the ground in a little area called Parker just north and west of Tyndall AFB.30-50% of the homes are just unlivable mostly due to trees.Power was not restored to the area until the 24th.(which is actually pretty miraculous-given they basically had to rebuild the entire grid). The first days we faced the fact that the local police chief had not even bothered to fuel his vehicles.Looting within fifteen minutes of the storm winds abating to mere tropical storm force. On Friday that same police chief went to one of the announced POD points and told the people there.(est 50) that the aid wasn't coming and that due to the sewage lift stations being out then effluent was going to be backing up into toilets and bathtubs within days.Verizon was out until like the 20-21.And promising every day to be up soon.AT&T initially had good service including data but die to everyone using it it was soon down to a 1-2 min call and maybe texts We had tree vamps in the area within forty eight hours jacking people over cutting down trees.(I had one guy quote me $4000 for one tree and they did not even know the term "assignment of benefits")Fuel was not available on the Eastside for 10days.And that is just some of the stuff off the top of my head.No one even really knows the final count for Mexico Beach which was twenty miles east of me.And FEMA denied my application within twenty four hours and the woman on the phone informed me that it was "my president' that did this. And the FEMA contractor that inspected my home with the sixty foot pine tree through my living room dining room and utility room had the gall to bitch about his long oommute to his nice hotel room fifty miles to the west.
