I've thought short and soft repeatedly about all of this. Better than long and hard, sometimes, including when contemplating the changing time-winds, relativity. Why don't we all just naturally revert to the intellectual understanding of this simple concept which would natch cure many ills.

All I can say is if you take things seriously, you have more of a Guildcrackhouse view of things than not. Guildenhauscrak, maybe.

I see the promises of America not available to me, and wonder why the myths were so pushed vs. the much more interesting in almost all ways history, and the numbers.

Those digits again.

I will make my millions and etc.

I wonder if Warren's DNA analysis included health information, or was it just ancestry? If she thinks that her 1/1024 (possible) Native American ancestry is relevant, I think the chances of her developing dementia in the next few years is relevant. (Or other indications of serious diseases.) Only asking since she already did the test.

Fun to watch the Crew embarrass the Dodgers in their home stadium. My dilemma will be whom to root for in the World Series if it involves Houston & Milwaukee. I love the 'Stros but am caught up in the 'underdog' thing, too. Should be an enjoyable in any case. Last year's Series was a gem. OTOH, what if it ends up Boston vs. LA?

The Brewers are not descendants of the Boston Braves. The Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee and became the Milwaukee Braves, and then to Atlanta and were, and are today, the Atlanta Braves.

The Brewers started as the American League expansion Seattle Pilots in 1969. In 1970 the moved to Milwaukee and became the Brewers. MLB switch them to the NL in 1998.

Wow, in that case I'll have to root for the Crew! And yet the poor Mariners have yet to win a pennant. Their only hope would probably be to switch leagues.

Anonymous said...

@MockTurtle Somehow my slightly later comment that I knew that the Braves moved on to Atlanta disappeared. In my little Boston-oriented pea brain the Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee period. Any move after that is of no consequence. It's a bit like the LA Rams. To me they were always the LA Rams while in St. Louis.

Here's a test of your Braves knowledge. What is the significance of " Spahn and Sain and pray for rain".

The answer.

Ok, the Mariners have nothing to do with the Pilots or Brewers. They have always been the Seattle Mariners since they became an AL expansion team in the 70's.

The rest of the Braves staff was pretty good as the article states. My understanding is both Spahn and Sain had performance contracts that made them benefit from additional starts. I was told this by Phil Masi who was the catcher on the team. As an aside, he was also the catcher who was behind the plate for Jackie Robinson's first at bat.

Yes, I know that. Just observing that an early Seattle expansion team has made good but Seattle's own never has.
