Fortunately, I have an app on my smartphone that blocks spam calls like Trump's.

No cell phone, ringer on the landline is off. I'll be able to retain objective judgment in life.

I'd rather it worked the other way around.

IPAWS was a reaction to the criticism about the government's handling of Katrina.

Damned if you don't, damned if you do.

Dies this mean we can get rid of the weeky test of the Emergency Broadcast System. They tell me it’s only a test but when it happens just as we’re abiut to learn who the killer is or when we’re kicking the game winning field goal, or with two on, two out, 2-2 count in a game tied 2-2...I mean how bad could a message from Trump be?

rehajm said...

I could see it being used as an offensive weapon or defensive tool, like if some crisis could be mitigated if leftie’s heads are exploding.

Lefties heads exploding would scare bears away..

Let's try it.

It is similar to an Amber Alert, you will not be able to block it.

Ditto on that, with the exception that our land line it is only on for business calls. I either answer the phone and take a message, IF I recognize that it is a real live person instead of a spam caller, or mostly ignore it let the machine answer and call back if necessary.

If the phone rings after 7pm....tough shit. Leave a message and if it is a real emergency there is not much we can do at that time.

I have a pay as you go phone that I only put $ on when I am traveling large distances alone

My husband has a flip phone for work and takes when we travel together and have the calls forwarded to the phone. We don't want people to know we are out of town so that works.

The work phone is so that he can call out from a job to get parts delivered out to the job site (by me usually), if he forgot to bring the combination for the gates on the property, or for a real emergency. IF he even has cell phone service, which we usually don't in most areas because of the terrain and lately because the cell towers burned down.

The flip phone holds up well in the field. Doesn't break or crack if dropped. And is usually off anyway when he is working. Can't answer a phone when you are hip deep in muck or in the bottom of a muddy pit.

He doesn't text or receive texts. Doesn't know how and doesn't care to learn. Doesn't send photos...we use a digital camera if we need photos for clients. He doesn't send emails or get emails on the phone. Listens to his voice mail messages a couple of times a day....maybe.....

So ......if Trump or anyone else thinks they are going to send us a message that we WANT to hear or will even get listened to....good luck with that.

I'm rereading "Touching History," Lynn Spencer's books about 9/11.

It describes in detail how poorly prepared the ATC system was for the terrorist attacks.

A lot of people improvised very well but it was a scramble for an hour or two. The grounding prevented a couple more hijacks, most likely. One plane was held on the ground and passengers dismissed into the terminal. Four Arab men in first class disappeared. They left their carryons behind which had box cutters and al Qeada literature.

When President Trump is censored from Twitter all the TV Networks, This gives him a go around to send messages to his Nation.

Wonder why he needs now that way to communicate that cannot be blocked by the Destroy America Globalists?

I was thinking of the remaining headless bodies.
You're a glass-full-of-air kind of guy, aren't you?

Tyronne is right.

Once the precedent has been set, we are going to be harassed by political spam to our phones. Just like we can't opt out of "charitable" fund raising calls or even political campaign ads...we will now be stalked and hounded by politicians.

Hounded day and night. Cell phones. At home. It will be relentless.

You can block both AMBER alerts and weather alerts. But would it fall into another category? And why would this even be necessary?
