"Since Althouse has been recognized on Fox as a FAMOUS blogger, bring your 'A' game today for the influx of visitors."

Writes David Begley in the comments to the first post of the day.

Here's the video clip where I'm declared famous.

ADDED: I see that was "Fox and Friends," President Trump's favorite TV show. Now, I'm hoping for President Trump to call me "tremendously famous"

Well you are a famous blogger.

In fact, you are the "Lou Gehrig of Bloggers" since you have not missed a day in what 12 years? 12 x 365 days = 4,380 days which is almost exactly twice as long as the Iron Horse's 2,160 consecutive games played.

And - he got your "civility bullshit" idea right - "civility bullshit" = attempts to shut down speech you disagree with. Probably there was a lot of that in Madison. Once again Wisconsin leads the way - Walker, Foxconn, "civility bullshit" and a woman with a mind.

rhhardin said...

They're trying to shut down the other side. Althouse is the fall guy.

Bob Boyd said...

"Look, Ann Althouse, famous blogger, thinks X"

And that's the last word on the matter.

Dave Begley said...

And Althouse will be even more FAMOUS when it is discovered that her husband is missing!

The coffeeshop solution is the only way to save Ann's reputation. Isn't Original Mike there in Madison? It would be better if Bo Ryan was there too. That would cinch it for me.

rhhardin said...

The bullshit is all in the media and Althouse is being used as a place without it, for as long as it suits them.

So did this guy read the WSJ article or is he a regular Althouse blog reader? Or did somebody else in his universe connect him to either?

In a campaign war room somewhere there's a crazy wall with the connection map.

Dave Begley said...

Bo Ryan will have to talk on a video too. Bo will ask the alleged Meade questions about Wisconsin v. Indiana basketball games. Tom Cruise would not know those answers. Neither would Ted Cruz but I don't think Ann wants to marry Ted Cruz.

Biotrekker said...

The person who said Ann is famous was on TV, so it must be true.

rhhardin said...

If you remember that the media plays to women, Ann Althouse is a good name to drop.

"Even a woman thinks (their) calls for civility are bullshit." Famous woman, not some nut. High woman-status.

A woman couldn't say that on the air without coming off as a bitch, and aren't high enough status. You want women to want to identify with the woman who asserts this.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

Ann throws out the bait, and see what bites. Hopefully she has strong enough line

A very skilled angler can land even a very large fish if he (she/they/them/zhe/zer,etc) play the fish well, with skill and patience. Eventually the fish, who took the bait and is on the hook will get tired and you can reel it in.

Playing the fish is the most exciting and challenging part of fishing.

Althouse seems to be pretty skilled.

The media just realized that Althouse has more credibility with her readers and are hoping to gain some of the credibility via association.

Also Limbaugh recognized her much earlier, so Fox and Friends is a bit slow.

Sebastian said...

"Playing the fish is the most exciting and challenging part of fishing."

But who's doing the fishing?

Anyway, it wouldn't hurt for the Carlsons and McGurns and Trumps (well, Trump aides) to check in here every once in a while.

Althouse has her own take on things, and is part of the gettable middle.

Many of the righties here express views not well represented in current media, even NR, WSJ, and TWS.

Personalized flame wars aside, many threads also display a different kind of conversation not available elsewhere, thanks to an indulgent hostess and some commenters with skillz.

Have they interviewed Ann yet? You're no one until you're on Fox News.

This Meade charade could be going on for years! When was the last time anyone has actually SEEN Meade?

OWH, "Farver disappeared on Nov. 13, 2012, while on her way to work from the home of the man whom Golyar had been desperately trying to date. Farver failed to pick up her son that day and has never surfaced.

But right away, some of her friends and family started receiving odd text messages from Farver’s phone. They also received erratic, threatening emails and social media messages supposedly written by the missing woman.

Investigators were able to link the emails and messages to Golyar’s computer and other devices. The prosecution contended that Golyar kept up the subterfuge for years to throw investigators off her trail and to continue to harass the man who mostly refused her advances. She even set fire to her own home to portray herself as a victim."

From Crack's link:

According to data from Edison Trends, online sales of Nike products jumped 31 percent between the Sunday before and the Tuesday after Labor Day, nearly double last year’s 17 percent increase over the same time period

Unpack that a bit: First give Nike credit for an increase in sales. Way to go. But is it really an increase of 31 percent? No. They are comparing a year over year increase vs the same period last year. That period is the peak back to school week buying period. They are also measuring only online sales, thus they could also be measuring people who changed shopping habits- switching from traditional retail stores, for example.

Nike or the article doesn't give us top line unit sales growth which would give a more accurate measure.

"This Meade charade could be going on for years! When was the last time anyone has actually SEEN Meade?" Interesting, is this the beginning of an organic ad campaign to hype AA's blog.

The Crack Emcee said... "...What boycott? Nike sales are up 31 percent since the Kaepernick campaign..."

LOL, while you are 100% correct, that measurement is only "Internet Sales" over a few days - that my friend is not a measure of success. Call us back in 6 months. Moreover, Online Sales are minuscule compared to brick and mortar. Even if we shift the "Total" of the online growth to physical stores, the growth rate would only move brick and mortar sales to 2.2%. Measuring anything online is ok, but don't forget brick and mortar is so massive, online is dwarfed in comparison. Hell, even online giant Amazon is adding brick and mortar to their retail strategy.

My point is let's wait for the totality of Nike's campaign to come to fruition. This kind of investment, is more than several days worth of sales, to be judged a success.

In our interview, Gundry described his portion of the Goop editorial as a plea for civility. 'Discussion should always be welcome, but discussion ... has always been at a collegial level, and there’s no shouting or screaming or profanity,' he said. (Paltrow has been quoted using the phrase, 'If you want to fuck with me, bring your A game,' and reportedly has cocktail napkins stamped with the motto.)"

'I personally feel that it’s the best source of health advice. I think there’s other sites, like Mercola.com, which gives very useful health advice.' When I checked Mercola.com, the site of Dr. Joseph Mercola, a few weeks later, a prominently placed ad on its 'vaccine' subsection offered to show readers 'How to Legally Avoid Unwanted Immunizations of All Kinds.'”
