At the Wild Game Café...

IMG_2262

... you can run amok.

The photo was taken from the car as we drove through Illinois (on U.S. Route 24) on our way to West Lafayette on Friday. We've been back since last night, but that was our quick trip to Indiana. So don't think I never travel.

And do think of using the Althouse Portal when you've got things to buy at Amazon.

The headline refers to all but one of the Harvard liars that were on the hiring committee when she joined Harvard. The article has all the details/facts that make the case that they are lying.

Oh, crap Leland, I'm a curator, and that is what keeps me up at night. I won't look until tomorrow when I get to my museum. Shit. It's all gone, I know. There isn't enough money in the world to even start to think of conservation work. Shit. My office has a gas (not halon, I forget which) fire suppression system, so if I'm back in the stacks and the alarm goes, I go with some great 17th Century furniture! Shit.

Song lyrics by Joni Mitchell (1943 - )
-----

Both Sides Now

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere --
I've looked at clouds that way.

But now they only block the sun;
They rain and snow on everyone.
So many things I would have done,
But clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now --
From up and down -- and still somehow
It's cloud's illusions I recall.
I really don't know clouds at all.

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels --
The dizzy dancing way you feel --
As every fairy tale comes real --
I've looked at love that way.

But now it's just another show.
You leave them laughing when you go,
And if you care, don't let them know --
Don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now --
From give and take -- and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall.
I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud --
To say "I love you" right out loud --
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds --
I've looked at life that way.

But now old friends -- they're acting strange --
They shake their heads; they say I've changed.
Well, something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day.

I've looked at life from both sides now --
From win and lose -- and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall.
I really don't know life at all.

Song lyrics by Gerry Rafferty (1947 - ) and Joe Egan (1946 - )
-----

Stuck in the Middle With You

I don't know why
I came here tonight.
I got the feeling that
Something ain't right.

I'm so scared,
I'll fall off my chair.
I'm wondering how
I'll get down the stairs.

Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right --
Here I am --
Stuck in the middle with you,

Yes, I'm stuck
In the middle with you.
I'm wondering what
I should do.

It's so hard to keep
This smile from my face.
I'm losing control;
I'm all over the place.

Well, you started out
With nothing,
And you're proud
You're a self made man.

Your friends --
They all come crawling.
They slap you on the back
And say: "Please, please!"

Trying to make some sense
Of it all,
But I can see
It makes no sense at all.

Is it cool
To go to sleep on the floor?
'Cause I don't think
I can take any more!

The head of the AFL-CIO - Trumka - is a piece of shit. After the POTUS invited him to help with Infrastructure bill, he called Trump a "racist" over Charlottsville in August 2017, and flounced off.

He's a shit head. And a fake. The only people he represents are State and Local Gov't workers. He hasn't done a damn thing any other American worker. He's a DNC Hack.

Running amok, as Judge Jeanine often does:

During an interview aired on AM 970 New York, the former judge [Jeanine Pirro] said, “I’ve been in law-enforcement for over three decades. This guy [Don Trump] was framed.”
Pirro also suggested investigators are looking at the wrong targets, accusing the Democratic Party of breaking the law rather than their opponents across the aisle. “Nobody is looking at the corruption. It’s all one-sided, the corruption on the part of the Democrats,” Pirro said. “This president was framed. It’s that simple.”

“The crisscrossing and the incestuous nature of our government in an attempt to prevent the outsider president that we wanted from getting elected is frightening,” she added, touching on the right-wing conspiracy theory alleging a “deep state” is working to bring Trump down.

Pirro offered no evidence for her assertion, and her comments echo claims made by the president suggesting members of law enforcement are trying to unseat him for crimes he did not commit.

So there is no convictions involving Trump or the Trump Organization over the past 40 years? Like the Trump University scam where $25 million was awarded to duped students? Or the series of money laundering violations at Trump Taj Mahal that amounted to $10 million in civil penalties?

And there is evidence of interactions with the Italian mob, the Russian mob and Russian Oligarphs dealing in money laundering and other racketeering not yet addressed and, of course, not a single Fox News story discusses Trump's ongoing violation of the Emoluments Clause.

Lest we forget The Trumps have been charged with self-interest withdrawals from the Donald J Trump Foundation.

"Kids, this-piece-of-paper's-got-47-words-37-sentences-58-words-we-wanna-know-details-of-the-crime-time-of-the-crime-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say-pertaining-to-and-about-the-crime-I-want-to-know-arresting-officer's-name-and-any-other-kind-of-thing-you-gotta-say", and talked for forty-five minutes and nobody understood a word that he said, but we had fun filling out the forms and playing with the pencils on the bench there, and I filled out the massacre with the four part harmony, and wrote it down there, just like it was, and everything was fine and I put down the pencil, and I turned over the piece of paper, and there, there on the other side, in the middle of the other side, away from everything else on the other side, in parentheses, capital letters, quotated, read the following words:

("Kid, have you rehabilitated yourself?")

I went over to the Sargent, said, "Sargent, you got a lot a damn gall to ask me if I've rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench, 'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the army, burn women, kids, houses and villages after bein' a litterbug." He looked at me and said, "Kid, we don't like your kind, and we're gonna send you fingerprints off to Washington."

And friends, somewhere in Washington enshrined in some little folder, is a study in black and white of my fingerprints. And the only reason I'm singing you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similar situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a situation like that there's only one thing you can do and that's walk into the shrink wherever you are ,just walk in say "Shrink, You can get anything you want, at Alice's restaurant.". And walk out.

The Globe’s has set up it’s Warren clearing screed to be the definitive end to the valid criticism of her ancesteral lie. Of note:
A ‘discovered’ document that suppodrly contradicts any claim she wasn’t hired for her ethnicity. Proof. Except we can only take a reporter’s word for it- no supporting document is provided, because reasons. But this document was found in a box after decades. Perhaps the same box where the absentee ballots are ‘found’ during the recounts?

No real investigation of why Warren listed minotity staus in the widely available law review or if any of the hiring powers had seen it.

More to the point of her critics- Does she actually have native american heritage? No investigation even though DNA tests are cheap. No critical statements of the fact you can’t ‘self identify’ as native american? Not vey PC Globe.

Globe uses ‘Pocahantas’ as the mock of choice. Lame. No mention of Fauxcantas, Liawatha, or Spreading Bull.

Still, this Globe story will for the left be the marker for definitive end of any criticism of Warren. ‘Case closed’.

rehajm said...

Moreover when you dig a little deeper into Boston Globe's earlier reporting on Warren's heritage (back when there were still some journalists there) they discovered Harvard listed two faculty members as Native American yet when Globe pointed out this was easily found on a Harvard Law website, Harvard took down the online posting.

Jaq said...

Ah yes, the Boston Globe. Here is there unbiased description of a Trump rally in Ohio, a state Trump won, IIRC:

Anger and hostility were the most overwhelming sentiments at a Trump rally in Cincinnati last week, a deep sense of frustration, an us-versus-them mentality, and a belief that they are part of an unstoppable and underestimated movement. Unlike many in the country, however, these hard-core Trump followers do not believe the real estate mogul’s misfortunes are of his own making.

They believe what Trump has told them over and over, that this election is rigged, and if he loses, it will be because of a massive conspiracy to take him down.

Wow, only complete imbeciles would believe that if their favored candidate lost, it was due to a conspiracy and the foul machinations of some evil person!

Here is one thing - Crooked Hillary was (the highest ranking) Principal Officer at the time, and Trump, of course, is President. That doesn't make him more vulnerable to the Emoluments Clause, but far less. It was specifically aimed at government employees, like Clinton, while early Presidents, starting with Washington, would have violated the interpretation being pushed by the Dems to disqualify Trump. Their problem here is that once the Electoral College has voted, the votes certified by Congress, and the new President has taken his oath of office, he is President until he serves out his four year term, resigns, dies (though his duties and authority may be exercised by others if he is physically incapable of doing so), or is removed through the impeachment process. Those latter two are the two choices that the Dems have of removing him before the end of his term - they can assassinate him, or they can impeach him in the House and convict him in the Senate. He has the armed might of the US*, led by the Secret Service, to protect him, and the Dems aren't going to have close to the number of votes needed, at least in the Senate to remove him.

* I used "armed might of the US" because it isn't limited to just the SS. In one scene in the Harrison Ford AF-1 movie, two F-15s launch missiles at Russian jets to protect AF-1. Turns out that there may have been just that situation this last year when Trump was flying to Korea. There appears to have been something that looked like a missle launch out of a Navy base by Seattle, followed by an air to air radar controlled missle launch by an F-15 out over the Pacific, and apparently a successful hit. I would like to think that that all is the usual conspiracy theory sort of thing. BUT I think that there is a decent likelyhood that Trump often has active military air support when aloft and on the ground, when outside the WH, given the general threat level by the unhinged left in this country.
