Impression, Mendota.
A view of Picnic Point from the boathouse, this morning just after sunrise. It was not a foggy day, but the mist rising from the lake obscured the line between water and sky.

Mendota isn’t really a lake; it’s a pooled river poised to pop.
It is fog.
Or a cloud.
Or mist.
It is all just a manifestation of the result of everything in the surrounding area exceeding saturation of water vapor holding capacity. Our name for it changes based on how high it is.
That is just small fog over a lake.
Or a low hanging cloud that is kinda small and you can see around it.
The bottom of Lake Mendota (underneath the lake sediments) is the Mt. Simon Sandstone, the basal Cambrian strata in the upper Midwest. Kind of surprising that the preglacial Yahara was able to accomplish this. The preglacial Yarhara topography must have been steeper. Or maybe the ice did it. Or both.
another restful photo - you've got a great eye for them
Song lyrics by Bonnie Raitt (1949 - )

Nick of Time
A friend of mine, she cries at night,
And she calls me on the phone --
Sees babies everywhere she goes,
And she wants one of her own.
She's waited long enough, she says,
And still she can't decide.
Pretty soon she'll have to choose,
And it tears her up inside.
She's scared --
Scared she'll run out of time.
I see my folks -- they're getting old --
And I watch their bodies change.
I know they see the same in me,
And it makes us both feel strange.
No matter how you tell yourself --
It's what we all go through.
Those lines are pretty hard to take
When they're staring back at you.
Scared to run out of time.
When did the choices get so hard,
With so much more at stake?
Life gets mighty precious
When there's less of it to waste.
Scared to run out of time
Just when I thought I'd had enough,
And all my tears were shed --
No promise left unbroken,
There were no painful words unsaid ...
You came along and showed me,
How to leave it all behind.
You opened up my heart again,
And then much to my surprise --
I found love, Baby --
Love in the nick of time!

I see Neil Simon has died.
Imagine boatloads of refugees coming out of that fog. One after another, in endless streams, coming to live where you live. Aren't you glad? Isn't it wonderful to see all your new friends, coming to live with you? Better drop that camera and get to work finding something for them to eat. They're hungry, and thirsty, and they want cameras, too.
Jupiter,
And some of them want more than a camera.
The water recedes and it looks like a giant diving board.

Is this where the Badger crew house can be found?? It's hard to step down into a shell, and the pier helps launch the boats.
"The Boys in the Boat" documents the 1936 U of W(ashington, not isconsin) gold medal crew race in Berlin. A highly recommended read.
I had been waiting for the movie, but I see the author sold the movie rights to.......wait for it.....Harvey Weinstein. The rights are now sitting in bankruptcy court.
The Odd Couple film. Must have watched it a dozen times at least. FU! (Felix Unger)
Odd couple tv series. Favorite sitcom of all time. Ridiculous! (Password)
I'm passing on Neil Simon's passing on.
I just don't have anything to say about him and have no personal experience of liking his work.
But goodbye to all the humans who died today.
And hello to all the new ones born.
Did you ride there on your e-bike, Ann? I'm interested in purchasing an e-bike now, thanks to you, and it seems lately there's been a lack of e-bike posts.
Well, they're right. Video games do cause violence.
no personal experience of liking his work.
It would be hard to swing a cat, and NOT hit a production of Neil Simon. So, I'll garner that his writing doesn't appeal to you!!
It's unaccountably hot and steamy in Ohio, not noticed because it's been cool but it sure shows up when you bike to the supermarket.
My bike helmet forehead maxipad disintigrated, meaning bits started sloughing off, like a womb lining probably.
I'd been using it only a couple of weeks. Normally you get a month out of one.
Trailways Bus from Capeman was good. I wonder if it's on youtube. yup

google trailways bus lyrics
It's about a guy who killed somebody as a kid and what it takes for redemption to happen, "I am no longer that guy" etc. Some forgive and some don't, it's up in the air.
Final lyrics
Yes I am an alien from Mars
I come to earth from outer space
And if I traveled my whole life
You guys would still be on my case
You guys would still be on my case
But he can't leave his fears behind
He recalls each fatal thrust
The screams are carried by the wind
Phantom figures in the dust
Phantom figures in the dust
Phantom figures in the dust
Which answers the redemption question with its rhyme, fears for tears.
That's Paul Simon, nevermind.
My bike helmet forehead maxipad disintigrated,
Maxipad? Something tells me that you are not kidding, and I know you learned to integrate in calculus.

They spent billions getting maxipads to hold moisture without releasing it, whereas a bike helmet pad is just a sponge that squirts sweat back out on every bump.
Go with what works.
I'm watching the Cards and the Cowboys. The Cowboys have a player named Ohnesorge.......without care!!

I tend not to stop and use the camera when I'm using one of my bikes, but I absolutely love the e-bike. Also love my Lush mountain bike, and my other bike too.
The e-bike is great for hills and for riding with someone who's stronger than you or for going farther without having to worry about getting tired.
Thanks for the response, Ann.
