"I don't really care. Do you?"

The top-rated comment on the long NYT article "Melania Trump, a Mysterious First Lady, Weathers a Chaotic White House."

No, I don't care either.

I don't even care about the NY Times and its pathologies.

No. Nobody is keeping her there, if she doesn't like being there she can leave. If she does I won't care about that either.

Scary scary freedom.

Evolution (e.g. life) is a chaotic process. More so with the insidious intrigue of journolism.

As for Mrs. Trump's privacy... What is the justification for invading it? Is she known to abort chicks and offer secular sacrifices? Colorful, but it's only poultry.

More and more these days I find myself resisting offering the advice: You should probably kill yourself.

Did she write the article? What? No? Then I don't care either.

Through a scan of the article it seems they didn't speak to Melania, the closest they got was a spokesperson, so most of the stuff in the article is made up speculation. Now I really don't care.

A pretty good explanation of why the left, including commenters here, is crazy or seems so.

Their Critical Theory was nothing but destructive criticism of the main tenets of Western culture. Chief among these are Christianity, capitalism, authority, the family, tradition and morality, sexual restraint, and patriotism. In other words, conservatism. When these German academics came here in the 1930’s, they looked around and saw America was capitalist, Christian and with patriarchal family structures. These were the same things they erroneously attributed to laying the cultural foundations for fascism in their native Germany. Therefore, they erroneously believed a fascist Hitler could rise to power here.

It was not until the late 1950’s and especially the 1960’s until these cultural Marxists began to have some sway. Books by Frankfurt school alum like Theodor Adorno (The Authoritarian Personality), Erich Fromm (The Art of Loving) and Herbert Marcuse (One Dimensional Man) became mandatory reading for every bearded, Che T-shirt-wearing “revolutionary.” Some of these revolutionaries went full-on Trotsky and attempted to elevate black revolutionaries to positions of leadership. Since their attempt was to upend culture, why not upend race relations? The idealists of the 1960’s “counter culture” are now in positions of power throughout society to effectuate their desires- destruction of Western heritage.

Worth reading.

It goes along with Antonio Gramsci pretty well. Same war on "Bourgeois culture."

I think the Left has 3 key political themes, that frame almost all of their pieces, articles, commentary:

1. Chaos!
2. Russia!
3. Racism!

They don't care too much about the low unemployment, the high GDP, the high stock market and the lack of any foreign wars to convert violent Muslim countries into democracies.

But, hey, that's life as a Leftist.

Maybe somebody could do a study of how the press spotlight sweeps around like a lighthouse flash from Trump to Melania, to Ivanka, to Barron, to Jared, to Eric. In between the family members (short flash) there are more or less loooooooong flashes consisting solely of Trump. Sarah Sanders, and General Kelly have almost the status of family members: Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup, Melania, Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup, Sarah Sanders, Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup, Jared, Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup, General Kelly, Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup, Ivanka, Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup, Eric, Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup. You don't much see a series of short flashes, e.g., Sarah Sanders, General Kelly, Melania.

Trump opposition makes brief cameo appearances so there's hardly time to learn a name and an accusation before the hook shoots out and they're gone. Best to just learn the category, i.e., The Justice Gang: James Comey, Lisa Page, Peter Strozk, Sally Yates, Bruce Ohr; The Simpson Gang: Glen Simpson, Chris Steele, Nellie Ohr; The Um Connection: Natalia Veselnitskaya, Oleg Deripaska, Viktor Yanukovych, Paul Manafort; Michael and The Naughty Ladies; Linear B (something about James Brennan which is at present redacted and mostly indecipherable but won't be forever.); Kim and the Central Empire; von Junker is not amused

Likewise, I don't care about the names and addresses of jurors reviewing a case about not paying taxes. However, CNN is asking for juror's name and addresses for the Manafort trial. Why do these people need to be public news? All they did was what the law required them to do.

Tide pods are produced by PROCTOR AND GAMBLE. THE RUMORS ARE TRUE. IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW.

How about they take a productive turn and eat the sidewalk shit in SF?

I care to the extent that I don't want her to be harmed by the left who largely mean her ill. She seems like a very beautiful, perfectly nice lady to me; I've seen nothing to the contrary.

I liked the Red Juice story, Test. It reaffirmed my belief in human nature. As the old saying goes: Where there is a will, there is a way. A crazy, completely unforeseen way. We may all be stardust, but I think the comet was slightly looney.

I can't believe that story was posted up by Althouse at end of July. There's been so much crazy since, it got buried down like Troy in my mind. I am glad you revived it - or maybe I missed a post on it, in between.

I will say it is my midseason favourite for Post of the Year - Crazy Short Documentary category. (One of the new Oscars)

It was the connecting of the old red juice story to the new ancient cheese story that got me. I’d read about the cheese but had forgotten about the red juice.

Maybe we should see the red juice as wine... so it’s wine and cheese... like a reception in hell.

The Liberals have zero respect for the First Lady.

But if they get a D president in 2020, they will go back to respecting the First lady.

Cause that's different.

Well, Conservatives won't.

I've seen those - not a good time. Not as boring as a reception in Heaven, but, at least there, the reasoning is someone will get upset if the preacher spiked the punch bowl or whatever. Not in Hell. Hell is what America wants to turn into, regarding all things evil, as it takes it's cues from, and emulates, cult-filled Hollywood's rape culture: "Oh, that's just Harvey!"

And those are just witches binding the president where rational women should be, yoga studios and "detoxing" stations cranking out narcissists where Physical Education (remember that?) should be, and homeopathic concoctions on our shelves where medicines should be, and fearful activist propagandists where brave responsible journalists should be, and on and on and on. The ultimate drawback to the reception in hell:

Once you enter, no matter how many doors you walk through, none of them is an exit.

What my Christian foster mothers were grasping for, is understood by this atheist, so I've only had to lie that I've prayed.
