Another day in lefty/lib paradise.
I wouldnt be surprised if Ortega were nominated for a humanitarian award.
Ah, yes, Ortega, like Hugo Chavez, another one-time celebrity favorite. I remember P.J. O'Rourke's description of a crest-fallen Bianca Jagger, who mourned when Ortega was defeated back in the '90's. What do those rich leftists have to say about Venezuela and Nicaragua now? Nothing - they're focused on how Trump is just like Hitler.
I hope Bianca's OK!
Ima go out on a limb and say probably not a good idea to throw rocks and stuff at the police while protesting in Nicaragua.
Ortega had more support in Los Angeles than he did in Nicaragua. He should have run for mayor of LA.
"Ima go out on a limb and say probably not a good idea to throw rocks and stuff at the police while protesting in Nicaragua."
Or in the USA!
Why Is Nicaragua’s Homicide Rate So Far Below That of Its Central American Neighbors?
"It’s the revolution, stupid—which fostered innovative policing, along with the dedicated work of community organizers and women activists."
Only 2.7 times as high as the US!
Honduras was called the worst place for women on the planet by the BBC's Stacey Dooley. Most women killed, guys getting joke prison sentences for attacking wife with a machete and cutting off one leg and butchering the other. Guys in prison say it's because they love women too much.
Democrats want them here. Of course.
The police are shooting to kill, the students’ blood is running in the streets
"The revolution didn’t just radically alter policing structures,” said Argentina MartĂnez, country director of the Nicaragua office of Save the Children. “It also altered consciousness. That consciousness and the reforms to the police remain one of the most important and lasting legacies of the revolution, something we’re very proud of.” February 2, 2018 (link above).
They're so cute when they revolve.
Someone just said that if illegals voted Republican, you could see the border walls from space.
You’ll notice these threads don’t move. I wonder why?
Taking care of unemployment the socialist way.
A shocking development, only 40 years in the making
Darrell - careful what you say! If Ortega gets chased out of Nicaragua he could still become the mayor of Los Angeles (sanctuary city). What a platform! Marxist, illegal immigrant, displaced tyrant, friend of God knows how many celebrities! Don't think some political advisor hasn't already thought about this.
I didn't like Daniel Oretega 35 years ago when he was a Marxist stooge of Nicaragua for the old Soviet Union -- and I don't like him today.
My fervent hope is that some day Robert Cook will live in all his Socialist paradises simultaneously with all his Lefty friends and never have to subject himself to America anymore. I believe that Hell exists, of course.
Institute for Policy Studies, which sang the praises of the Sandinistas in the 1980s, has fallen quiet in recent years on Daniel Ortega's depredations and police violence.

Like this?
The country that hates women: Just why have 1,000 females been slaughtered in Honduras in the last two years? (2012).
Or like this?
In 2012, 7172 homicides were recorded.
So in 2012, about 6600 men and 500 women were murdered. (13.2:1)
Or:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homicide_statistics_by_gender
Nicaragua: 12.5x more men than women murdered.
U.S.: 3.5x more men murdered.
When the pussy hats marched in Washington, there were some violent incidents. Did the rest of the world assume all Americans were on board with the rioters?
Bad for government to kill demonstrators but not gonna assume entire country is anti Noriega all of a sudden based on these reports.
Maybe Workers' Paradise Cuba can chip in with some snipers, like they did for Chavez in Venezuela. It has worked out great for Venezuela! Socialism forever!
Someone just said that if illegals voted Republican, you could see the border walls from space.
Cuban refugees voted Republican, which is why Obama changed the law so that they could no longer get into the country.
Another lefty favorite goes the way of all lefty favorites.
Any lions, tigers, bears or jaguars on the scene? Oh my!
Why doesn't the world-wide leader in news, CNN, send a reporter down there? I'm really tired of panels speculating about Russia and Trump.
Nicaragua: 12.5x more men than women murdered.
Oops.
Honduras: 13.7x more men than women murdered.
To see some nice examples of the dishonest use of statistics, check out the articles returned by a Honduras "Stacey Dooley" search.
The God that failed failed again. And again.
Dishonest?
Dooley said it was a hellhole for women--and it is.
You say it is a hellhole for men--and it is.
Marching them here through Mexico should be a capital crime.
Sounds like the typical end to a Marxist regime.
Rather than accepting illegal immigrants from there, we should send them back with AR-15s or AK-47 and 1000-rounds of ammo.

Yes, it's extremely dishonest to complain about a murder rate and completely ignore almost all the people who are murdered.
You say it is a hellhole for men--and it is.
I didn't call it anything.
So. Question: How many citizens has the Sandinistas murdered? I mean, our leftists caterwaul about Pinochet; but I'll bet that Pinochet's "Disappearances" will be far, far less than yet another leftist place which has gone the way of all leftist paradises.
Apropos of nothing--anyone seen a leftist comment on their paradise turning to hell--again?
Ortega had more support in Los Angeles than he did in Nicaragua. He should have run for mayor of LA.
just read this:
"Oklahoma joins Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas on the list of states where California public employees cannot travel for work-related purposes unless they are required to "
ban travel to one deplorable state; you cut them off from an important part of the country...
how many states does it take before you are cutting yourself off instead?
9? 10? 25?
I didn't call it anything.
The numbers did.
So what happens, gilbar, when one of the schools--UCLA, say-- starts paying their football players a small stipend? Nothing fancy--20 bucks a game or something.
That makes them employees.... and thus, they cannot go to an away game in the SEC, it appears.
Can you talk about outrage?
Not so long ago Barack Obama, his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and their fellow Democrats were insisting that the US had a FIERCE MORAL URGENCY to intervene when Qaddafi did far less to to the citizens of Libya. What changed I wonder?
I said it in the other thread and I’ll say it here too. We aren’t ready and I don’t mean the wall. My dad was a believer that we ignored the illegals because we can’t have civil unrest on our southern border so we were the escape valve.
Mexico is a slow-moving train wreck. Nicaragua and Venezuela are toast and then there’s Brazil.
It’s a good thing Canada is so welcoming. They have a lot more room too. Lolol

Unlike Libya, Nicaragua has few contracts with European nations which US globalists usually rush to protect.
>>Any lions, tigers, bears or jaguars on the scene
Not until the preseason starts...
American leftists blame capitalism.
they do have ties to iran, back in the 80s, they were tied to Palestinian and other islamists,
in fact at least two of the first wtc bombers had Nicaraguan passports, issued before the opposition took power,
So what happens, gilbar, when one of the schools--UCLA, say-- starts paying their football players a small stipend? Nothing fancy--20 bucks a game or something.
it certainly seems like it's going to bite them in the ass, one way or another
doesn't sound like professors would be able to do field work in those states either.
Again, if it's one state (or two) you're making a point;
If it's 9 states (or 29), you're making a grave.
Don't forget how the Democrat Congress passed legislation designed to keep Ortega and the Sandinistas in power -- and then they wanted to impeach Reagan when he went around them to fund those fighting for freedom in Nicaragua.
It’s a good thing Canada is so welcoming. They have a lot more room too. Lolol
Time for a caravan. From Nogales to Ottawa.
May the best public relations stunt win.

Meanwhile Spain falls to the socialists without an election.
"Meanwhile Spain falls to the socialists without an election."
One minority government followed by an even weaker minority government.
(Eaglebeak)
Danny Ortega showed up at the United Nations in New York many years ago wearing $1,000 designer sunglasses. After that a few newspapers started calling him The Designer Dictator.
BTW,
Spain just convicted about 30 politicians and businessmen and sentenced them to prison for corruption. That's the PP (conservative) side of their corruption problems, this stuff dating from before 2005. The cleanup is not likely to be limited to the PP, as the PSOE (socialists) was into massive EU-funded alternative energy boondoggles, just to start. More to come I think.
And the rate at which they jail local politicians also is also something to behold.
What Spanish prosecutors could do to the State of California is a pleasant fantasy. On the basis of (current) Spanish standards of political cleanliness, they could empty Sacramento.
The only successful Marxist government is one that has been overthrown by a military coup. The most successful Marxist government of our time was the one Allende led. People are still celebrating his goodness and wisdom and the wonderful things he would have done for Chile had he been allowed to play out his hand. The problem with Chavez, Ortega, and Castro was that they were not overthrown. Otherwise they would still be celebrated. Everyone knows that the Congo would be the showplace of Africa were it not for the death of Patrice Lumumba.
So what happened after manila, personally I think they should have gone with moises tsombe over mobutu, the real life kilmonger.
And Hungary would have turned out great if Bela kun hadn't been oberthrowned how about if Lenin had been precluded in the spring of 1917, by kornilov what might have come to pass?
The demonstrations against the government started in April, when the government announced reductions in social security pensions and also an increase in payments to social security. The reason for this belt-tightening was the end of the Chavista gravy train. From Nicaragua's Central Bank, we get a the info.Informe de CooperaciĂłn Oficial Externa 2017_Mayo 2018.
Interesting that foreign aid gets called "foreign cooperation."
From page 18, Table 1, "Cooperacion Venezolana en el Marco de ALBA- TCP" we find out that $729.3 million of "cooperation" in 2012 fell to $102.4 million in 2017. That's a reduction of over $600 million. PDVSA "loans" went from $551.3 million in 2012, to $558.5 million in 2013, to $30.9 million in 2017.
Much of this Venezuelan dosh went to support non-petroleum parts of the budget.
Robert torricelli whole trying to impress Bianca jagger kept his eye of the ball re Cuba and forced a purge of the company's entire, asset roster.

Ortega left office peacefully in 1990 when he lost the election to Violeta Chamorro.
Say, were is Sean Penn in all this? Doesn't he love those socialist dictators in South America? Him and all of Hollywood. Yea, were is Michael Moore?
Ortega left office peacefully in 1990 when he lost the election to Violeta Chamorro.
He won't leave peacefully this time. Not after this much blood has been spilled.
I suspect these rioters are in part like Chavez colectivos
RichardJohnson: "Ortega left office peacefully in 1990 when he lost the election to Violeta Chamorro."
LOL
Berlin Wall came "a-tumblin' down" in 1989 and the Soviet Union was collapsing by 1990 (six republics would vamoose by 1991).
Li'l Danny Ortega (darling of America's leftists/libs/LLR's) had no one to turn to effectively. So he took his Chavez-like cash and high-tailed it long enough to reinvent himself sufficiently to once again fool the moronic lefties and get back into power.
He won't go quietly this time....

They were the INSPIRATION for the Chavista colectivos. The Sandinista mobs, a.k.a. Turbas Divinas (divine mobs), were in operation in the 1980s when the Sandinistas were in power the first time. The Turbas Divinas were a copy of Somoza's mobs, which were known as Nicolasa, for Nicolasa Sevilla, their leader.
The Turbas Divinas, 2018 model, have copied one part of the Chavista colectivos. The Turbas Divinas now use motorcycles.

There wasn't a lot of wealth to steal in Nicaragua in 1990, which had been at war for a decade. The Sandinista Comandantes DID steal, but were pikers compared to what the Chavistas stole. But steal they did.
Piñata Theology: The Sandinistas’ Preferential Option for the Rich.
Virgin of Guadelupe! Everything has been stolen!” Violeta Chamorro was astounded upon arriving at her office on April 25, 1990, shortly after she became president of Nicaragua. She found only bare walls—”and they weren’t very clean,” she recalled—along with some papers strewn on the floor, three rocking chairs, and a small violet-colored table. The president could not find even the national flag; she had to send away to Miami for one, since none could be found anywhere in Nicaragua.
Every office in the House of Government—not just the quarters occupied by Daniel Ortega—had been ransacked. The Sandinistas took the desks, chairs, typewriters, computers, files, all paintings by the better artists, even the bathroom towels. Costly television cameras and thousands of video cassettes and files had disappeared from the presidential press office, which had been the richly equipped seat of power during the Sandinista regime.
The desolate picture offered by President Chamorro’s empty office could be seen in government buildings and state enterprises throughout the country. The Sandinista guerrillas, for years admired and idolized the world over, had divided among themselves the property of the state as if it were the booty of war. In doing so they scandalized the grassroots Sandinista militants who still hewed to the ideals of the revolution. Many leading Sandinistas became overnight millionaires simply by carrying off the scarce resources of the impoverished state over which they had exercised totalitarian control.
One year after leaving office, the Sandinistas are Nicaragua’s real nouveaux riches. They have become the de facto economic power in the country, but at the enormous cost of their honor and most of their political backing. The blatant corruption of leading comandantes has brought the Sandinista movement into disrepute, steadily reducing its influence, its popular support, and even its internal unity. Today the Sandinista Front finds itself on a dead-end street, having forfeited the most precious asset of any revolutionary movement—its moral authority.
The Sandinistas appropriated for themselves much of what used to belong to the Somoza crowd.

He (Ortega) won't go quietly this time....
Doesn't look like it.
"When communism finally arrives on earth, will there still be pilfering? No, because everything will have been stolen under socialism”. - Old Soviet Joke
I suspected as much Richard, even though Ortega rails against them.
