Just pondering this - I don't think the Dems have a good chance of winning either the Senate or the House in this year's midterms, but surely they have a decent chance at winning the presidency in 2020?
It cannot be hard to find a better candidate than Hillary Clinton! Especially if they decide to let the Dem voters decide on the candidate. Let's face it, Bernie Sanders would have won the general if he had been the Dem candidate, and I do believe that if it had been really left up to the Dem voters he would have won the primary.
I just suddenly realized that the sustained temper tantrum the Dem politicians have been having since November 9th, 2016 is about something they DID TO THEMSELVES.
“In a January 18 meeting between Trump and top generals in the Pentagon’s tank (a room reserved for top secret discussions), he broached the subject of a military parade, again.
Two officials briefed on the parade planning report:
Surrounded by the military’s highest ranking officials, including Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joe Dunford, Trump’s seemingly abstract desire for a parade was suddenly heard as a presidential directive, the officials said.
“The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France,” said a military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the planning discussions are supposed to remain confidential. “This is being worked at the highest levels of the military.””
I think a parade with marching and bands and lots of color is a fine idea. But leave the hardware at home Who are we trying to impress? North Korea? They know we could vaporize them with one hand behind our back.
"On March 17, 2017, the Chairman and Ranking Member were provided copies of the two relevant FISA applications, which requested authority to conduct surveillance of Carter Page. Both relied heavily on Mr. Steele's dossier claims...."
"The bulk of the application consists of allegations against Page that were disclosed to the FBI by Mr. Steele and are also outlined in the Steele dossier. The application appears to contain no additional information corroborating the dossier allegations against Mr. Page, although it does cite to a news article that appears to be sourced to Mr. Steele's dossier as well."
Are we ashamed of the men and women, who defend us or the uniforms that denote their commitment? Are we ashamed of the hardware that creative, industrious Americans have invented, developed, built and man everyday in our defense? Are we ashamed of our willingness to defend ourselves, our country, and our values?
I guess, some of us must be. It's sad when the French outshine us in pride of self-defense. The French for Christ's sake!
The only problem I have with a military parade is that it can't possibly demonstrate the true power and scope of our forces, but it can express and our pride in those who do all that work and sacrifice for us. OMG! how terrible.
When I read about the possible parade I turned to my husband and said "I want to be there - better than pussy hat parade." If it's like Bastille Day - bring it on.
I just want to hat-tip again the commenters on the Lady Doritos thread. I did so many spit-takes reading it that I think I ruined my keyboard and my monitor. Well played Althouse commenters, well played.
Thinking of The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis, I imagine that every time Althouse creates a new Café post, an actual café of the same name is instantly created in Hell.
A big parade honoring and involving our military, somewhere in DC, maybe on the Mall? I could get behind that. I mean, why not? We used to do things like that, before our political betters stopped serving in the military.
Some of our loved ones serve in the military and were deployed to war zones.
“We don’t live in a dictatorship or monarchy. I swore an oath – in the military and in the Senate – to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap,” Duckworth wrote in a tweet, using a nickname she had given Trump, who had said in previous interviews that he was granted medical deferment during the Vietnam War after he was diagnosed with bone spurs in his feet.”
“It’s amazing, I can’t even believe it. I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world, it is a dangerous world out there. It’s like Vietnam, sort of. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider,” Trump said in the interview when Howard Stern asked how he handled making sure he wasn’t contracting STDs from the women he was sleeping with.“
I understand Mattis’ plan to kill everyone he meets gets the Secret Service a little rattled whenever he visits the White House. They’re all like hiding the pens and the staplers and shit.
Inga: "“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
Dick Durbin: "If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime -- Pol Pot or others -- that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners."
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a prisoner of war in Vietnam, said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press": "I think that Senator Durbin owes the Senate an apology -- I don't know if censure would be in order -- but an apology, because it does a great disservice to men and women who suffered in the gulag and in Pol Pot's 'killing fields.' "
I heard that Bill Clinton was listening to that Howard Stern interview with Trump about the STDs and Bill was all like, “Word, brother.” Then Hillary threw a lamp at him. True story.
“My number was so incredible, and it was a very high draft number. Anyway, so I never had to do that, but I felt that I was in the military in the true sense because I dealt with those people,” he told Mr. D’Antonio.
The author seemed taken aback by this. Not many of the academy’s alumni “would compare military school with actual military service,” he wrote. “But the assertion was consistent with the self-image Trump often expressed.”
“The Trump administration is considering a plan to end the military’s longtime operation of schools for military children on dozens of stateside military bases, part of a broader push to cut costs and reduce the size of the federal workforce, according to information obtained by Military Times.
The military currently operates 47 schools on military installations in seven states in the continental U.S., serving a total of about 20,000 students. The proposal, which has support from some parts of the Pentagon, would turn over operation of those schools to local school districts”
I hear that the STDs in a POW camp are like a motherfucker. It’s like first you’re in Vietnam and then you get a whole ‘nother Vietnam. Now that’s a bitch.
"This proposal to stop running schools on military bases is among the reform initiatives that are the result of the Trump Administration’s direction to government agencies in April to develop a plan for reforming the government and reducing the federal workforce. The Pentagon drew up a slate of proposals, including the DoD school proposal, and sent that back to the White House’s Office of Budget and Management in September, according to a defense official."
So, the plan to shutter stateside schools was an idea that was sent to Trump from the Pentagon and did not originate with Trump!
“President Trump is a big fan of the military — except, perhaps, those who have been captured or killed. The commander-in-chief — who’s had numerous back-and-forths with the military — has recently been under fire for openly disputing remarks made by a pregnant Army widow whose husband was killed in Niger.
After four Army soldiers were killed in the Oct. 4 ambush, Trump remained quiet for 12 days.
"It made me cry," Myeshia Johnson told ABC News’ “Good Morning America” on Monday. "I was very angry at the tone of his voice, and how he said it.””
Mccain is not loved by the military. He was a crappy officer and pilot. The son of an Admiral, he was allowed to continue a career that would have washed out anyone else. He was and is hole of the ass.
And McCain would be against Trump’s proposal on military schools despite his STD. I mean even though he has an STD. No, I mean he doesn’t have an STD. Not like Tammy Duckworth. No, I didn’t mean that. I mean, Tammy Duckworth doesn’t have an STD and neither does McCain. Not that they’re sleeping together. Man, this really isn’t coming out the way I meant it to.
“Seventy-two years later, perhaps we should play Taps for the notion that the buck stops on the president’s desk. In an interview with Fox & Friends Tuesday, President Donald Trump refused to accept responsibility for the risky special operations raid in Yemen earlier this month that resulted in the death of Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens.
Never mind the fact that Trump personally approved and ordered this flawed raid; never mind the fact that he personally signaled during his campaign that he wanted to order more aggressive counterterrorism actions like this. When things went bad, it was the fault of the military — not Trump.
“This was a mission that was started before I got here. This was something they wanted to do,” Trump said. “They came to me, they explained what they wanted to do ― the generals ― who are very respected, my generals are the most respected that we’ve had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan.”
The military, in other words, is to blame for the tragic loss of one of their own. Trump himself, in his own mind, is blameless.”
I just suddenly realized that the sustained temper tantrum the Dem politicians have been having since November 9th, 2016 is about something they DID TO THEMSELVES. 2/6/18, 9:28 PM
Whatchyou gonna realize Novemeber 2020 that ain't different than what we know now?
Say it.
NOW.
Your hindsight highlighted here is saying "I'm so entitled I can be stupid with no repercussion! Ha Ha I eat your ice cream too ha ha."
I understand Trump waited 12 days before he called Tammy Duckworth with condolences about the STD she got from McCain. The bastard. Trump, I mean. Not McCain. I mean, the STDs you can get in a POW camp are a motherfucker.
“President Donald Trump sent a $25,000 personal check to the family of a fallen soldier the same day that The Washington Post reported that he had promised the soldier's father a personal donation during a June condolence call but never followed through.
A White House official confirms to CNN that the President sent a personal check Wednesday to the family of Army Cpl. Dillon Baldridge Wednesday. Baldridge, 22, was killed in June by an Afghan police officer.”
Cafe post: I am currently reading this report issued by George Washington University on the American ISIS recruits: https://extremism.gwu.edu/sites/extremism.gwu.edu/files/TravelersAmericanJihadistsinSyriaandIraq.pdf
It's rather interesting. 116 pages. Not very reassuring.
Sorry Inga, but no one believes your fake news sources any longer.
The fact that your sources are full of holes explains why the majority of military members love Trump and will vote for him again no matter which US military-hatin' democrat you guys nominate.
Think about that every time you try and convince anyone Trump doesn't care about the military. We know you are lying.
“Donald J. Trump belittled the parents of a slain Muslim soldier who had strongly denounced Mr. Trump during the Democratic National Convention, saying that the soldier’s father had delivered the entire speech because his mother was not “allowed” to speak.
Mr. Trump’s comments, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News that will air on Sunday, drew quick and widespread condemnation and amplified calls for Republican leaders to distance themselves from their presidential nominee. With his implication that the soldier’s mother had not spoken because of female subservience expected in some traditional strains of Islam, his comments also inflamed his hostilities with American Muslims.
Khizr Khan, the soldier’s father, lashed out at Mr. Trump in an interview on Saturday, saying his wife had not spoken at the convention because it was too painful for her to talk about her son’s death.
Mr. Trump, he said, “is devoid of feeling the pain of a mother who has sacrificed her son.””
By the way, I’m typing this shit as fast as I can and I still can’t keep up with Inga. It’s like she’s got a script or, or, talking points or something that she’s cutting and pasting from.
Inga: "“Donald J. Trump belittled the parents of a slain Muslim soldier who had strongly denounced Mr. Trump during the Democratic National Convention, saying that the soldier’s father had delivered the entire speech because his mother was not “allowed” to speak"
Those parents showed up at the democrat national convention and made themselves public figures.
They put themselves into a political arena where everything goes.
Which is what the majority of military voters understood, and voted for Trump.
Have you apologized for calling military members who voted for Trump White Supremacists yet?
No, you are proud of only one military person. You shit on all the servicemen and women who voted for Trump - and that is most of them.
That you thought a military parade was a deplorable idea is quite telling. I'll bet most military people and families would be happy if Trump made such a thing happen.
You are completely unrepresentative of military families - and thank Christ for that or West Point would be filled with traitorous Commie cadets.
Inga is doing everything she can to avoid responsibility for slandering our proud and honorable military members.
We all know what the lefties think of our military: they think they are the "lowest of the low".
We also know that you only go into the military if you are a screw up. John Kerry said so. Why, if you don't study hard in school you might "get stuck in Iraq"!
BTW, I notice you said zip about the Dow going up today. Of course, that's how it always goes - you blab and gloat and have premature schadenfreude and then when you are proven to be wrong (always), you avoid those threads and blather on about some other stupidity. I realize how excited you were at the thought of economic disaster and Americans suffering but alas, you'll have to wait for another market correction, O Economic Expert.
The most imporatant thing, we call all agree, is to give thanks to no God or nothing or anything for nothing.
We all ought be Tom Brady winning again the other day, and since we all ain't, EVEN TOM BRADY ISN'T, then America ought burn with a bunch of boomerbitch boombitcing the men into boomcucked boomer-crypto-unBuckleys.
“Yet while Trump is especially popular among enlisted troops, officers have a much lower opinion of him.
And women and minorities in the ranks share similar skepticism.
Overall, about 44 percent of all troops surveyed in the Military Times poll have a favorable view of Trump, while roughly 40 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him. That’s a stark contrast to opinion polls of the general public, which have shown Trump’s popularity at less than 40 percent and an unfavorable rating as high as 56 percent.
Yet, the poll of more than 1,100 active-duty troops, conducted in September, shows a deep divide over service members’ opinions of the commander in chief, whose first nine months in office have been marked by military policies that have drawn both praise and concern from Pentagon leaders.
While almost 48 percent of enlisted troops approve of Trump, only about 30 percent of officers say the same, the poll shows.
Among the many takeaways in Military Times’ far-ranging poll of service members’ attitudes toward President Donald Trump and his policies, the clearest may be these: The commander-in-chief’s strongest support within the armed forces comes from the uncommissioned, the Marine Corps, and the Army — and his biggest critics in the service come from the officers’ ranks, the Navy, and the Air Force. What service you’re in, and whether you’re enlisted or not, turn out to be the two biggest factors in your support for Trump.”
Inga can relate to Khizr Khan because they both attempt to shield their political views from criticism by use of their childrens military service.
You don't see any politically conservative parents doing that.
Just think back to the POS obama praising the "honorable service" of the deserter Bowe Bergdahl who went over to the enemy and helped them kill US soldiers.
Obama asserted, despite knowing better, that Bergdahl was a hero when in fact he was a traitor.
An actual traitor.
And the dems praised him...because of course they did.
Hell yeah! Multiple parades around the nation at the same time. Jets, paratroopers, tanks crushing stuff, bombs dropping in the forests big guns on ships blasting old boats. Loaded weapons , orders to fire on antifa.Mock takeovers of liberal college campus's Sweet!
The French built the Arc de Triomphe in Paris for victorious armies to march under. It’s been used three times - twice by the Germans and once by the Americans.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is treasonable to the American public."
Guild - we have Trump because the Republican/Independents who were interested enough to vote in the Republican primaries were really, really pissed off at the power structures in the Republican primary. And it so happened that they had a real option this time, even though when he first appeared over the horizon everyone treated him like a joke except for the voters.
Why won't the Dem voters be feeling the same thing? It seems to me that many of them were for the last go-round. What if they get THEIR insurgency candidate? Isn't that what some of them are trying to do now? Isn't that what they were trying to do in the last election?
I look at the exit polls, and Trump was the "change" candidate, for obvious reasons: https://www.cnn.com/election/2016/results/exit-polls
6% of the voters voted for third party candidates - enough to swing it either way.
The Republicans in Congress who don't back Trump are really missing the point. They only have the majority because of the voters Trump brought out. People don't like the Republican party. They just hated what they were offered by the Dems more.
I don't believe in the system, but I do believe that the voters are really fed up and will not be any fonder of it in 2020.
Lucien: "The French built the Arc de Triomphe in Paris for victorious armies to march under. It’s been used three times - twice by the Germans and once by the Americans"
It is said that the Eskimo cultures have 50 different words for "snow".
The French are said to have the same degree of intimacy and nuance with "surrender".
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is treasonable to the American public."
"I'll take 'Things Inga never, ever would have said from January 2009 until January 2017 for $500, Alex."
Leftist rule #1: There must be no criticism of the president and we must stand by the president if he is black and a Democrat, and if you don't agree you are a racist traitor."
If Hillary had won, Inga's lips would be stuck to her backside with superglue.
BTW, this Grassley-Graham memo basically blows up every lie the lefties are telling about the Nunes memo.
Hillary Clinton literally purchased a secret FBI/DOJ investigation into Trump.
Amazing.
There is no doubt now the lawyers at the FBI and DOJ deceived the FISA courts. The lefties plan to exonerate Hillary and frame Trump with a fake crime almost worked.
Much much more to come on this.
Admiral Mike Rogers will be written up in the history books as a hero since he was the ONLY one at the upper levels of FBI/DOJ/NSA/CIA who had the ethics and balls to go against the Hillary/obama cabal.
I think the French after eight years in indochina. Too the bitter end in dine Ben phu and eight years in Algeria have proven themselves of that accusation.
I remember how enthusiastically people criticized the President when Obama had the job. Good times, not like the sycophantic kowtowing the media does to Trump these days. Man, the press used to speak truth to power in Obama’s Presidency, what happened? Did their balls drop off when Trump got elected?! Bunch of spineless media pussies.
And don’t get me started on the way Jimmy Kimmel and SNL practically fellate Trump all the time. I guess you can’t blame them - if Kimmel and SNL tore into Trump the way they always did to Obama, you know Trump would lock them up.
When there was a large military establishment in SF, at the Presidio and the Hunters Point shipyard, etc., there were a large number of military families resident here, and they did not have DOD schools - not all bases/duty stations have them. So most went to the local public schools. My wife knew quite a few, they were excellent kids in her opinion. When most military families left post-Vietnam it really lowered the tone of the publics.
buwaya: "When there was a large military establishment in SF, at the Presidio and the Hunters Point shipyard, etc., there were a large number of military families resident here, and they did not have DOD schools - not all bases/duty stations have them"
I was also a military brat in the SF Bay Area and we did have a military base school.
It was no different than any other.
The real concern from a navy perspective is that we often have bases in really bad public school areas (all run by democrats, naturally). It's no surprise that in those areas the parents on the bases don't want their kids bussed off base to attend the typical lefty s***hole schools.
The newly partially unredacted Grassley memo is must reading. In particular, I had forgotten the title of the Isikoff story that the DoJ had cited as corroboration of the Steele Dossier- here is the title of the story as it appeared on September 23, 2016:
"US Officials (emphasis added by YW) Probe Ties Between Trump Advisor and Kremlin"
Do you see the problem here? It is highlighted by the thing Isikoff said this weekend about his surprise, because he had asked an official in law enforcement in the Obama Administration if the allegations were true- that they were investigating Page, and it had been confirmed. So, explain to me how this story could have ever been cited as corroboration- the title of the story itself reveals it to be self-corroboration, and thus completely invalid as corroboration. Astonishing, truly astonishing.
"Inga said... "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is treasonable to the American public."
Teddy Roosevelt"
Where did our resident dullard, #IngaKnew, pull this from? Because you know she didn't match up prior knowledge of a TR quote with what she perceives as pertinent today. And sure enough, it's a Tammy Duckworth tweet, that being regurgitated by lefties like our own little copy and pasting dullard all over the internet.
Visualize this. A military parade, the lead float is a swift boat lead by Commander John F. Kerry, navigated by Ensign Inga, with no one following. Well, maybe Seamen Durbin and Harry (this war is lost) Reid.
"The military currently operates 47 schools on military installations in seven states in the continental U.S., serving a total of about 20,000 students. The proposal, which has support from some parts of the Pentagon, would turn over operation of those schools to local school districts”
I believe sending the children of personnel on military bases to the local school districts has long been the norm, not the exception. I grew up in Atlanta near Ft. McPherson, now closed but once Third Army HQ and later FORSCOM HQ, and all the children living on post went to City of Atlanta schools. The Army had its own fleet of olive green busses to take them. The DoD made a payment to the Atlanta school system in lieu of taxes to cover the expense. A lot of my friends in high school lived there, and I will soon have been married to one of them for 45 years.
"President Trump has a unique ability to make liberal heads explode. You can see this one coming: libs will ramp up their use of the F-word, while normal Americans will wonder what is wrong with a parade:
'A date has not been selected, although officials said Trump would like to tie the parade to a patriotic holiday.'
Of course he would! That only makes it worse, for the Left. While liberals may not be traitors, as the president suggested in a moment of levity, most of them are not very patriotic. So a military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, reminiscent of the Grand Review of the Armies at the end of the Civil War, will send liberals into a tizzy that the rest of us can enjoy.
Where did Trump get the idea of a military parade? From France:
'The inspiration for Trump’s push is last year’s Bastille Day celebration in Paris, which the president attended as a guest of French President Emmanuel Macron. Trump was awe-struck by the tableau of uniformed French troops marching down Avenue des Champs-Élysées with military tanks, armored vehicles, gun trucks and carriers — complete with F-16 fighter jets flying over the Arc de Triomphe and painting the sky with streaks of blue, white and red smoke.'
But wait! Aren’t the French sophisticated Europeans of the sort that liberals want the U.S. to emulate? If they can have a military parade, why can’t we? No doubt liberals will come up with an answer to that question; it will be entertaining to see what it is. As Steve likes to say, get out the popcorn!"
Tammy Duckworth will undoubtedly scrabble for another Teddy Roosevelt quote obedient leftist fools will dutifully drop in comments sections all over the Internet.
”To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is treasonable to the American public.”
That’s a great quote, but has anybody made such an announcement? I watched the tape and saw that he remarked on the fact that Democrats couldn’t even clap for an announcement of record low black unemployment. Put words in his mouth!
Newly revealed text messages between FBI paramours Peter Strzok and Lisa Page include an exchange about preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to President Obama, who wanted “to know everything we’re doing." The message, from Page to Strzok, was among thousands of texts between the lovers reviewed by Fox News. The pair both worked at one point for Special Counsel Robert Mueller´s probe of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Page wrote to Strzok on Sept. 2, 2016 about prepping Comey because “potus wants to know everything we´re doing."
Germany’s Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control approved a license for a company to sell military applicable technology to Iranian companies that subsequently was used in Syrian regime chemical weapons attacks, reported the German publication Bild on Monday.
The German company Krempel, located near the southern city of Stuttgart, sold electronic press boards to Iranian companies that were used in the production of rockets.
The Jerusalem Post reported in 2017 that multiple German intelligence reports revealed that Iran sought chemical and biological weapon technology in the federal republic.
Obama’s friendly regime in Iran.
Any of you people consider what a royal pain in the ass a military parade is for the poor suckers who have to march in it?
I think it’s a dumb idea, but your comment reminded me of that scene in Catch-22 about parades. It’s a dumb idea, bot not impeachable.
Ha! A billionaire doctor is buying the LA Times and other media outlets. The press is losing it because he's complained about "false reporting" in the past, has been seen with Trump and could possibly be a Trump supporter. Oh noes!
”And we haven't seen anything yet. Wait until robotics and AI, artificial intelligence, really takes off. So when people are insecure and anxious, they often defend against their own feeling by rejecting others. That often happens with minorities. It happens with ethnicities, races, religion and it also happens with respect to women …. it was an outgrowth of all this anxiety and insecurity that is playing on people and leading them in a hunt for scapegoats.” - Hillary Clinton
So why do we need uncontrolled immigration again when the jobs are due to dry up?
I believe sending the children of personnel on military bases to the local school districts has long been the norm
It's a mixture of both. I'm an Air Force brat, and I attended a DoD elementary when my dad was at George AFB in Calif...but I went to a civilian middle school there, and a civilian Jr high at Homestead Fla. I attended DoD elementaries, middles school and high school while on American air force bases in the UK.
One nice thing about attending DoD schools is that they all pretty much use the same curriculum and pacing guides...so when you move (which you do often) you are pretty much doing the same thing at your new school you were doing at your old school. This was definitely not the case when moving between civilian schools or civilian/DoD schools.
Regarding Tammy Duckworth, this is from Wikipedia:
"In 2009, two Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs employees at the Anna Veteran's Home in Union County filed a lawsuit against Duckworth.[24] The lawsuit alleged that Duckworth wrongfully terminated one employee and threatened and intimidated another for bringing reports of abuse and misconduct of veterans when she was head of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs." In the end the State of Illinois announced that the suit had been settled for a paltry $26,000 with not admission of wrongdoing. The plaintiffs announced that they did not wish to accept the settlement but the judge vacated the trial, Illinois being a thoroughly corrupt state and all.
The Vietnam era veteran supports Donald Trump and believes that in a just world Tammy Duckworth would be in jail for allowing the people she was supposed to be supervising to abuse veterans.

Shifty Schiff has been caught colluding with the Russians. He must be expelled from the House Intel Committee at once.
“In a January 18 meeting between Trump and top generals in the Pentagon’s tank (a room reserved for top secret discussions), he broached the subject of a military parade, again.
Two officials briefed on the parade planning report:

“The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France,” said a military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the planning discussions are supposed to remain confidential. “This is being worked at the highest levels of the military.””
Cadet Bone Spurs, the biglyest patriot ever.
I think a parade with marching and bands and lots of color is a fine idea. But leave the hardware at home Who are we trying to impress? North Korea? They know we could vaporize them with one hand behind our back.
Sen. Grassley's less-redacted memo referring Steele to DOJ investigation:

Its a bit of fake news, I think it was iterated a year ago.
Why would kraus want to ignore the self serving reductions imposed on the graham memo,
When I read about the possible parade I turned to my husband and said "I want to be there - better than pussy hat parade." If it's like Bastille Day - bring it on.
I just want to hat-tip again the commenters on the Lady Doritos thread. I did so many spit-takes reading it that I think I ruined my keyboard and my monitor. Well played Althouse commenters, well played.
Special shout-out to AllenS because... damn.
“Are we ashamed of the men and women, who defend us or the uniforms that denote their commitment?”
Not I. I am quite proud of them.
Inga: "Not I. I am quite proud of them."
Even though the majority of them voted for Trump.
As with the majority of retirees.
"Cadet Bone Spurs, the biglyest patriot ever."
The majority of active duty and retired military voters know perfectly well who is on their side.
Tammy Duckworth
Tammy Duckworth is obviously in the MINORITY of military veterans who did not vote for Trump.
Obviously.
The party of Clinton and Biden would like to lecture us about the importance of military service.
Let's all pay close attention....
So Tammy Duckworth is up for a parade too? Awesome.
The party of Durbin (who called US troops Nazi's) would like to lecture us about honoring the US military.
Let's all pay close attention....
That's why Illinois veterans department she headed abandoned so many of her fellow veterans.
The party of "lied about wait lists" which led to thousands of veteran deaths and then hid it want to lecture us about honoring military members.
Let's all pay close attention...
I wonder if Tammy Duckworth has a plan to kill everyone she meets, like Sec. Def. Mattis?
“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
Why hasn't Durbin resigned?
Its a precautionary measure. Like with frank j's marauding rimsfeld.
I heard that Bill Clinton was listening to that Howard Stern interview with Trump about the STDs and Bill was all like, “Word, brother.” Then Hillary threw a lamp at him. True story.
The majority of Active duty military members and retired military voted in massive majorities for Trump over Clinton.
Because....duh.
So when obamas dhs was blaming returning Iraq vets as likely terrorist (which helped them ignore the real terrorists) where was Tammy?
Inga has called Trump voters misogynistic white supremacists.
Trump won the majority of the active duty and retired military members votes.
Has Inga apologized for maligning our honorable military members?
Maybe he could use the money that would be spent on a big military parade on these schools instead.
https://www.militarytimes.com/newsletters/pay-benefits/2017/11/13/pentagon-may-stop-running-state-side-schools-for-military-children/
LOL
"This proposal to stop running schools on military bases is among the reform initiatives that are the result of the Trump Administration’s direction to government agencies in April to develop a plan for reforming the government and reducing the federal workforce. The Pentagon drew up a slate of proposals, including the DoD school proposal, and sent that back to the White House’s Office of Budget and Management in September, according to a defense official."
So, the plan to shutter stateside schools was an idea that was sent to Trump from the Pentagon and did not originate with Trump!
Inga "forgot" to include that blurb....
Has Inga apologized for calling military members who voted for Trump White Supremacists?
I don't think so.
Not in any way suggesting McCain got an STD as a POW. Not suggesting he got an STD at all. FFS.
"It cannot be hard to find a better candidate than Hillary Clinton!"
Your dumb faith in the system, which you admit has produced dumbness, is why it works.
You wanna graduate from grade school honey? Do you? Why haven't you dear? Too soft?
Anywho, many better candidates have been found by many others. Fact.
Now start the hard part, the thinking. Do it. No bitching and Facing It, just acknowledgement of all the wasted talent.
Then you can understand, to your extent, why.
If you aren't too childish again.
All us gamblers know you are and will be, Kipling said you'd return.
You ain't maxed shit.

Whatchyou gonna realize Novemeber 2020 that ain't different than what we know now?
Say it.
NOW.
Your hindsight highlighted here is saying "I'm so entitled I can be stupid with no repercussion! Ha Ha I eat your ice cream too ha ha."
You eat what is provided for and no more.

https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/trump-state-dept-embraces-islamic-cleric-okd-killing-americans-iraq-called-israels-destruction/
You want to concern yourself with something:
Inga continues to avoid apologizing for her horrific slander of our US troops who voted for Trump.
Naturally, Inga is a lefty.
The only thing missing is her calling our troops "baby killers".
Cafe post: I am currently reading this report issued by George Washington University on the American ISIS recruits:
https://extremism.gwu.edu/sites/extremism.gwu.edu/files/TravelersAmericanJihadistsinSyriaandIraq.pdf
I like it when people put quotes around things but don’t tell you who they’re quoting.
“Tammy Duckworth got an STD from McCain and Trump waited 12 days to call her about it.”
Well, that’s what I heard!
LOL
So Khizr Khan is up for a parade? Awesome.
It cannot be hard to be dumber than a sentence beginning with the words "It cannot be hard to be" or at least I think so anyway.
Dumbness means I win right?
Yes khizr khan Islamic law expert, who would be materially hurt by trumps anti terror policies, just like taliban fan effendi mateen.
Not I. I am quite proud of them.
2/6/18, 10:30 PM
No, you are proud of only one military person. You shit on all the servicemen and women who voted for Trump - and that is most of them.
That you thought a military parade was a deplorable idea is quite telling. I'll bet most military people and families would be happy if Trump made such a thing happen.
You are completely unrepresentative of military families - and thank Christ for that or West Point would be filled with traitorous Commie cadets.
It cannot be hard to split the atom, and any maxed output entity has likely accomplished just that feat asleep.
Hard things are to be defined for now, if it doesn't make us feel dumb, as things we (man) hasn't accomplished yet.
Everything already done was easy too, duh.
Did Khizr Khan get an STD in a POW camp? Asking for a friend.
We all ought be Tom Brady winning again the other day, and since we all ain't, EVEN TOM BRADY ISN'T, then America ought burn with a bunch of boomerbitch boombitcing the men into boomcucked boomer-crypto-unBuckleys.
https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2017/10/23/military-times-poll-what-you-really-think-about-trump/
The schiff boondoggle wAS worthy of the producers tnougb. Although those two Ukrainians are byalystok and bloom. And he is the defrauded investor,
Inga can relate to Khizr Khan because they both attempt to shield their political views from criticism by use of their childrens military service.
You mean the officers who wereromkred in the Obama era. Because they were politically correct I. The extreme, just like bureau managemt.
Inga is now depending on the military times which no one in the military reads or believes anymore.
Wanna know why?
As soon as Gannett (USA Today parent) purchased the Military Times in 1997, the paper and its content immediately swung far left.
Inga is too much of a dummy to know that, because of course she is.
When you are reading the "Military Times" you are essentially reading USA Today, and everyone in the military knows it.
Which is why the vast majority of military members voted for Trump!
And will do so again.
We used to call the Military Times the "Soviet Military Times".
And it was funny 'cuz it's true....
Hell yeah! Multiple parades around the nation at the same time. Jets, paratroopers, tanks crushing stuff, bombs dropping in the forests big guns on ships blasting old boats. Loaded weapons , orders to fire on antifa.Mock takeovers of liberal college campus's
Sweet!
Promoted and management, like that whelp josh Campbell. Like that instant CIA operative ' oodled ned price, aide to Ben rhodes
The military times was always running hit pieces on GW Bush when he was President as well.
Always.
Here's a good way to think of the Military Times: It's a further left USA Today with less color.
Teddy Roosevelt
Guild - we have Trump because the Republican/Independents who were interested enough to vote in the Republican primaries were really, really pissed off at the power structures in the Republican primary. And it so happened that they had a real option this time, even though when he first appeared over the horizon everyone treated him like a joke except for the voters.
Why won't the Dem voters be feeling the same thing? It seems to me that many of them were for the last go-round. What if they get THEIR insurgency candidate? Isn't that what some of them are trying to do now? Isn't that what they were trying to do in the last election?
I look at the exit polls, and Trump was the "change" candidate, for obvious reasons:
https://www.cnn.com/election/2016/results/exit-polls
I heard they were going to lock Khizr Khan up for treason but they were worried about the STDs spreading in prison.
Oops! Sorry. I meant:
“I heard they were going to lock Khizr Khan up for treason but they were worried about the STDs spreading in prison.”
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but it is treasonable to the American public."
"I'll take 'Things Inga never, ever would have said from January 2009 until January 2017 for $500, Alex."
We can't speak of Teddy Roosevelt.
In fact we must not ever think well of him.
So saith the lefties!
Hey, we finally have the answer to the old question of "Who doesn't love a parade?" It turns out to be Democrats!
Maybe they will boycott Memorial, Flag, and Independence Days. Ya think?
Trump could fly naked LBQTUVWXYZ's in from San Francisco to bring up the rear.
Powerline's take on the parade is pretty good:
So Adam Schiff (D-Pervert) was sniffing for naked pictures of President Triumph. The question is, was he going to share them or keep them to himself?

Any of you people consider what a royal pain in the ass a military parade is for the poor suckers who have to march in it?

Sorry. This Vietnam Era veteran ...
