Me thinks that Bill Belichick is wicked-smaaat.

But the way Atlanta beat and beat up on Seattle was pretty impressive.

It should be pretty interesting.

Looking forward to the game. Atlanta has so many weapons, but they haven't been to the Super Bowl since 1999. For Belichick and Brady, it ain't their first rodeo, nor even their second.

In 1999 everyone was worried about the Y2K problem. IMHO the Y1K problem (going from three digit years to four) was bigger, but no one back then was asking me. JFK, Jr. trying to fly to Martha's Vineyard in conditions that grounded more experienced pilots. Bill Clinton was still in office. Economic growth was 3.5% Vlad Putin had just taken over from Boris Yeltsin. Donald Trump was ... Donald Trump. Gasoline averaged $1.22 per gallon.

Long time ago. Long, long time.

I think everyone that reads this blog has noticed the increased number of lefty commenters. It started about 6 months ago. At first I thought it was a paid Soros performance trying to sway the election. Find a moderate blog and swamp it with lefty sentiments. It kept up after the election and now we see a determined effort to bring down Trump. What I'm having trouble understanding is the end game and why pick on Althouse? The end game is Pence followed by Ryan. Is that a reasonable goal? I think not but lefties are acting nutty right now. The other question of Althouse is more opaque. The best I can come up with is that the lefties feel the need to herd Althouse back into the fold. But I think that effort is doomed. Any lefties in the know are welcome to tell us what you are trying to accomplish.

Now the Busch Bullshit ad just ran.

From Wikipedia: [Adolphous] Busch was born on July 10, 1839 to Ulrich Busch and Barbara Pfeiffer[2] in Kastel, then a district of Mainz in the Grand Duchy of Hesse. He was the twenty-first of twenty-two children.[3] His wealthy family ran a wholesale business of winery and brewery supplies. Busch and his brothers all received quality educations, and he graduated from the notable Collegiate Institute of Belgium in Brussels.[2]
At the age of 18, Busch emigrated in 1857 with three of his older brothers to St. Louis, Missouri;[2] which was a major destination for German immigrants in the nineteenth century. Because he had so many siblings, Adolphus did not expect to inherit much of his father's estate and had to make his own way.[3]

Busch's father died in Germany while Adolphous was serving in the Union army during the Civil War (a 6 month enlistment, a fairly common thing early in the war.) Adolophus did indeed inherit some money, which he eventually used to set himself in business.

FYI, immigrants were very welcome in the American midwest during much of the 19th Century. St. Louis had a large German population (much like Milwaukee) and German was widely spoken in the business community. In 1865 Missouri joined numerous other states in affording voting rights to (male) persons who indicatd their intention to become American citizens.

It is doubtful that Adolphous Busch encountered many (if any) people who told him to go back to Germany.

Is it really a good idea for companies which sell food and beverages to lie to their customers?

Toure's twitter feed is hilarious. When the Falcons were winning, he tweeted:

"That time that John Lewis’s team smashed Trump’s team in the Super Bowl."

Worse, on SNL Weekend Update last night, anchor Michael Che said about de-politicizing the Superbowl (video at link):

I just want to relax, turn my brain off, and watch the blackest city in America beat the most racist city I’ve ever been to.

Since it was part of an anti-Trump screed, the Boston Globe didn't mention the home-town insult in its fawning coverage of the SNL episode.

"Is it possible to assign an Amazon purchase to the Althouse Portal retroactively? The purchase has not shipped."

Nay. Nein. No. You have to buy when you click through. My understanding is that once you put it on a wish list, or even navigate away from Amazon while the item is in your cart, the credit does not apply.

I have not been right about everything since 1959, so you might double check.

Gaga's idea was to get as many LGBT (with an emphasis on T) on the stage to show football fans how exciting it would be to have this sort of people in their faces every day.
Google it.
It may have worked, what with the "patriotic" prelude.
Dunno.
I'm not quite as good as Ritmo at ramming my opinion through your "chocolate asterisk" as he.
