"I guess this is Trump's America," said one passenger. No sir, it's not. Not tonight and not ever. Not as long as stubborn New Yorkers have anything to say about it."
To him, it is obviously Trump supporters who drew the swastikas.
The Trump hate is thick in that facebook post and I see it in other facebook threads. I had to block a guy yesterday. First time I ever had to do that.
Trump has certainly set off the left.
I had my doubts about him and still am uneasy with his twitter stuff but he is the last chance, I think, for our culture to survive.
Only a guy who is that outrageous and, lets face it, rich enough to pass up the donor class, could do what he is doing.
I read the other day that, of something like 10,000 Muslim refugees that entered one country (can't recall which) only 24 had gotten jobs.
The left are the anti-semites, NYC has precious few Trump suoorters, but it's obvious a Trump supporter wrote this. What a steaming pile of lefty projection.
Well considering that Trump's son-in-law is Jewish, and Trump actually ended a "no Jews allowed" policy at a country club he purchased, then if it was a Trump supporter, it was a pretty stupid one.
The complete obliviousness of the fact that unthinkingly calling Trump supporters Nazis is itself a form of prejudice is par for the course.
As a Trump supporter I just want to say, the hell with those people.
A few weeks ago, at a local grocery store, (Natural Grocers) I was paying for my items at a check out stand when I, and everyone else in the store, was treated to an outburst of crazy from an old man yelling... "Trump and the Jews are going to destroy everything!"
Nice story - one idiot acts out, people work together to remove the hateful messages he left behind. I should have stopped reading when I got to the comments.
My first thought was that this was Black Lives Matter's America, or Muslim refugee's America. Seriously, how on earth does this get associated with Trump? I'm having trouble gearing down my brain to that level of stupidity. I need to study Beavis and Butthead to see how its done.
Blogger mockturtle said... Trump has certainly set off the left.
No, Michael. Trump didn't 'set off' the left. They 'set off' themselves.
I agree but this goes back to 2000 and that recount. I think the left went nuts then because the election was virtually a tie and, unlike Senator Franken, they could not find enough votes to get a win. The similarities are impressive. Bill Clinton had been president for eight years and he had swung hard left under the impeachment crisis. They had what they wanted and then Gore failed to deliver the mail.
This time was so similar. Obama had ruled as a lefty for eight years and Hillary was supposed to take over.
This election was not as close as 2000 but, of all people, Trump !
I don't see them giving up unless they are spanked hard in 2018.
Of course, at the point when the political heat has gotten too hot, and swing-seat senators are coming under pressure to break the filibuster, they might not have Neil Gorsuch to kick around any more. They might be looking at a nominee who makes them long for the halcyon days of a well-credentialed Scalia 2.0 if they get Trump’s dander up. And that vision should make them shudder.
Personally, I think we will see as many as three Senators change parties by 2018.
We used to draw swastikas on our school books and put it in our graffiti because we knew it drove the adults batshit insane. We would sit back and laugh while they clucked and squawked and moaned ... it didn't even faze on us as children, that we were getting the adults to act just like us.
Watching these simian morons melt down almost makes me want to go out and buy some sharpie markers myself. Watch out, liberals! Trump's eeeeeeeeeevil Nazis are gonna getchya!!!! HAR HAR HAR!
Americans do not generally support discrimination through [class] diversity (i.e. "skin-color" based discrimination) nor do they generally support denying life unworthy through abortion rites. Americans do not generally subscribe to the Pro-Choice quasi-religious/moral philosophy. They do not support social justice adventurism to force demographic redistricting and redistributive change (e.g. refugee crises). Americans do not generally support labor, environmental, and other regulatory forms of arbitrage (e.g. insourcing, outsourcing, immigration reform). They do not construct congruences to force normalization and selective exclusion. They do not support monopoly formation and practices by an authoritarian minority. I wonder how many support Planned Parenthood and other corporations that profit from both abortion rites and clinical cannibalism.

This is a toothless threat. The right wing judges vote as a bloc with Kennedy rarely deviating from this bloc vote. They are interchangeable units. Republicans could just program a robot to make the decisions. It is just partisan politics played out on a different stage.
ARM, this is clear projection on your part as the D-leaning judges always do this and the R-leaning judges sometimes differ. Even aside from Kennedy who is either a coin flipper or playing for whatever door prizes there are on the Supreme Court.
" The right wing judges vote as a bloc with Kennedy rarely deviating from this bloc vote."
Right, that's how this "right wing" court twice upheld Obamacare, and mandated same-sex marriage. The real bloc is the four lefties, especially if you look at the most divisive cases.
Excuse me, always-ish. I'm sure there must be one case where a Democrat was peeled off, but I'm sure it's somewhere between a coelacanth and a unicorn for rarity.
Too bad Purell wasn't around 45-plus years ago, when the 'Taki 183' Sharpie graffiti led to the spray paint graffiti epidemic of the 1970s and 80s in the New York subways and elsewhere. Could have nipped the problem in the bud before it ever got started.
ARM: your cynicism is noted. I think you are wrong; I think there is a fair amount of "play" in the system, depending on the issue and the way it presents. But even if you are right, you are wrong to ignore the importance of theater. If we did not have those solemn figures in black robes helping us pretend in the rule of law, we would indeed be living in a Hobbesian hell.
Well people of good faith acting together can wipe out crapola like that. It would be a good thing if the progressives stopped wetting their diapers and projecting with "this is Trump's Amerika". Grow up and grow a pair, and get on with life. And a good place to start is cleaning up graffito.
Damn, Trump has me so brain washed (without waterboarding) that my immediate thought was this was done by a Muslim. I guess I should have really thought that is was a Trump supporter like me. Off to the Dem reeducation camps for me.
The right wing judges vote as a bloc with Kennedy rarely deviating from this bloc vote.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_term_opinions_of_the_Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States#2015_term_membership_and_statistics Kennedy sided with the majority 97.5% of the time, Kagan 94.9% Breyer 93.8 Roberts 91.3 Ginsburg 87.5 Scalia 83.3 Alito 82.1 Sotomayor 81.1
The least likely to side with the majority, and the Justice responsible for submitting more than twice as many opinions as any other, was Thomas at 72.5%.
This is a false flag operation by anarchists or Democrats. When Trump becomes anti-Jew we can expect him to tell his daughter and son-in-law to get out of the White House because they are Jews.
The graffito is automatically deemed anti-Semitic. But is it? Why? Because of the swastika? If someone writes beware of this symbol and follows with a swastika, is he being anti-Semitic? Or has he issued an objectively true warning?
In this case, the vandal has scrawled his message over a map of the NYC Metro Area, Brooklyn, mostly. Is that significant? It often is. The message is crude and written in African-American patois, Jews be... It is racist to assume the vandal is a Jew hater because he is apparently AA, or posing as same? Maybe he's not a vandal. Maybe he's issued a sincere and objective warning. Brooklyn is filling up with hipsters, a uniformly proglodyte group, many of whom affect Palestinian keffiyehs as scarfs, symbol of intense Death of the Jews! anti-Semitism. NYC as a whole is under the thumb of a self-professed "progressive" who has offered the entire city as sanctuary to any foreign Muslim able to come — not a good sign for the Jews of New York if one is frankly honest. That's like inviting child molesters to live next door to a kindergarten. Maybe the graffito is less anti-Semitic than the persons seeking to obliterate it.
Phony hate hate speech is so common and the other sort (when not directed at whites) is so rare that the first thing I'd suspect is another stinking commie fake. If it's genuine then it's still almost certainly a commie. Whatever they accuse decent people of doing is what they're either doing or want to do typically.
“Phoebe, it has been a pleasure having you play our game with us!”
“Thanks, Bob, I just wished I would’ve won.”
“Sadly, not everyone can be a winner, Phoebe. As a loser in the Second Round I think you know the next question.”
“Unfortunately, I do…”
“That’s right! It’s time for you to answer the question: Swastika or Bukkake?”
“Is there any way I can say neither?”
“That’s not how the game works, Phoebe. For losing the Second Round you must either submit to Our Swastika Tattoo Gun, or you must enter The Swastika or Bukkake? Bukkake Ring.”
“What if I had just a tiny Swastika tattooed somewhere where no one would see it?”
“Aw, Phoebe: you know the Swastika must meet the size requirement of two inches, and it can only be on the forehead, the forearm, or the butt.”
“This IS difficult. I’m Jewish, and the skin on my face is very sensitive to semen.”
“That IS a Dilemma, Phoebe. You have Thirty Seconds to make your decision, or we will poll the Studio Audience to make the Decision for you.”
“I can’t make the decision: let the audience decide, Bob.”
“Okay, audience, you heard Phoebe: she is Jewish, which makes a swastika tattoo even more problematic, but her facial skin is sensitive to semen, which might make Bukkake more uncomfortable than usual. Please push the appropriate button on the back of the seat in front of you…”
Ding!
“The Audience has spoken, Phoebe.”
“Oh no…”
“Yes — and 83% want to see your Forehead under Our Swastika Tattoo Gun!”
“I guess I won’t need the hand-sanitizer and tissues I brought…”
“Oh Phoebe: you might want to keep the tissues: I suspect there is going to be some crying in your near future…”
It had to be left-wing agitation. Right-wingers never indulge bigotry. Like that Richard Spencer guy, for instance. Perfectly nice guy. Who says, with arm outstretched in fascist salute, Hail Trump! Hail our people! Hail victory!
Definitely nothing anti-anyone in any of that. He is definitely a credit to the Trump movement and a shining example of how "identitarian" politics is the peaceful way forward for America: The "all-white" America that he envisions.
But I know, look a squirrel. The right wing is perfect and we cannot and must not look at things like this. Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixieland.
Quaestor -- I assume you are trying to be funny? Did you read the part about Jews belonging in the oven? Perhaps the vandal simply meant they are good cooks?
I didn't realize until now that your pic shows someone trying to the Hitler salute.
I would submit that Trump is probably the least antisemitic president we've ever had.
Tony Schwartz, who wrote Trump's "autobiography" Art of the Deal, says that Trump's ok with Jews who are successful lawyers or financiers. But the rest he's got just as much contempt for as he does anyone else. Likewise, says he's cool with very muscular, powerful black athletes. The rest he hates. That's Trump. Hatin' on everyone unless they're the best of use to him.
He really baffles you guys, doesn't he? You really think he's that hard to get. Behold right-wing leadership. Let's make chief dealmaker seem so much more mysterious than he is. None of you have apparently ever been around a 3-year old or worked with an adult stunted at that age professionally. They are wrecks. Enjoy your DSM basic psychiatry lesson played out on the national stage. I look forward to seeing how you sort through the aftermath, especially with no Democrats to blame, as you did in 2009. This should be fun. Just not for the people who care about their country or have a lot invested in it to lose.
What the progs are really scared of is not Trump being Hitler. What worries them the most is that they could be wrong, that the entire liberal establishment, Hollywood included, may be wrong to the very core. That shit may not be, after all, Shinola.
What the progs are really scared of is not Trump being Hitler.
Trump's a narcissist. Hitler had a borderline personality disorder. Nutcases of a different color. But narcissists are notoriously destructive. They're usually the ones bringing down the company, the organization, great countries throughout history, you name it. All "truth" has to be filtered through their delusion of what makes them look good or bad. But I guess you learned all this in your vast experience with corporate America, and how they are always open, forthcoming, objective, unbiased, and serving all the non-financial interests of their country and society.
gee Quest... i don't remember you being that circumspect with the obama/clinton stuff... you've come a long way !... and trump has no conflicts of interest either ... keep it up, we're all going down together... this blog and this time are an interesting look at the populace's behavior in how a totalitarian regime's rise happens.. we are very close to losing it... delegitimizing the fourth estate, then doing the same to a branch of govt, creating secret laws and order by a shadow govt.. all really for no good reason since the republicans control 2 of the 3 branches of govt this is not the blog that stood up so vociferously to obama and clinton...
What worries them the most is that they could be wrong, that the entire liberal establishment, Hollywood included, may be wrong to the very core. That shit may not be, after all, Shinola.
What they are really scared of is losing power. In 2000, they thought they had it wired. Bill Clinton was popular in spite of Monica and impeachment because the stock market. Gore was mister smooth and Bush was obviously a hick.
Then the election tied and Baker moved fast enough that no car trunk of votes showed up in time.
Mass hysteria. The Supreme Court threw out the leftist FL supreme court attempt to change the rules by a vote of 7-2.
I think it was a mistake to stop the counting but nobody knew the Democrats would be psychotic for 20 years after.
Then Obama wins on the basis of Iraq war weariness. Plus, of course, the economic consequences of 20 years of CRA and house flipping.
Then, after 8 years of Obama paying the left max deference, Hillary loses to, of all people, Trump !
More hysteria. Why ? Because the Democrats need government like oxygen.
just would like to remind mike that clinton got 3 million more votes than trump and add in the other anyone but trump voters - trump still behind by 10 million votes... just the peculiar, antiquated system we use to pick a president (i'm not saying that the donald didnt win fair and square by the rules)... unless of course you count the miracle of voter fraud ! using that miracle of course he won !... hes the greatest ... and has huge hands too... huge i say ..
The quoted headline has 'Jews buzzing'? Like insects? Which buzzing insect? The industrious bee, the annoying fly or the destructive locust? Just hits my ear wrong... I am Laslo.
"The right wing judges vote as a bloc with Kennedy rarely deviating from this bloc vote."
The data you quote literally runs counter to what you think it means. Kennedy is the one justice on the right most likely to vote with the 4-judge liberal bloc to form a majority in that manner- in other words, in closely divided cases, you would expect him to have the highest percentage of being in the majority for a decision since he is the most likely to provide the fifth vote either way.
As for Thomas, he and Scalia both do/did tend to provide the dissents on cases where the majority is 6 justices or more. With Ginsberg and Sotomayor, they are just on the losing side more often because Kennedy does vote with the conservative bloc quite a bit more than he does with the Progressive bloc.
What the progs are really scared of is not Trump being Hitler. What worries them the most is that they could be wrong, that the entire liberal establishment, Hollywood included, may be wrong to the very core. That shit may not be, after all, Shinola.
Bill O’Reilly, interjected that Mr. Putin was “a killer,’’ Mr. Trump responded: “We have a lot of killers… You think our country is so innocent?”
President Trump supporters will not take this comment seriously. Most on the left use it to discredit Trump. Some on the left will will, in spite of themselves, realize President Trump just agreed with what they have believed their entire life. Another minor chink in their armor. And, many lefties are in the awkward position of having to somehow discredit President Trump, while defending themselves for frequently expressing similar feelings. In fact, Obama has been taliking about how bad America is for the last eight years.
This is a toothless threat. The left wing judges vote as a bloc with Kennedy sometimes joining them in their bloc vote. They are interchangeable units. Democrats could just program a robot to make the decisions. It is just partisan politics played out on a different stage.
Nobody holds a candle to President Obama when it comes to narcissism.
President "I me I me I me I me...me....me.... " Narcissist Obama is gonna lower the oceans, doncha know. Pepper some lies like "average family will save 2,500.00/ year and "it was the video" - and you've got one major progressive fuck up.

Most sane people see a big difference between killing people abroad and killing Americans at home. But alas, the Trump cultists have an explanation for everything. And when they don't, they don't care anyway. We've been completely unlike your hero Putin in that regard, although Trump seems to admire his stranglehold on his country's media.
Nope, we haven't been targeting Americans for assassination here. Although as mockturtle will defend, we have been doing what we can to make sure that chemical industries go unregulated and are allowed to poison as many AMericans as possible. So maybe in that sense we're not so innocent. But not when it comes to targeting anyone politically - except the poor and those without the resources to defend against corporate America's killing of them.
Dirty little secret - a lot of people on the left are crazy hate-filled Nazi Jew haters. They also have hearts that bleed for terrorists like Iran, the Palestinians, and other various eternal victim death cultists.
In recent years, pretty much all the cases where it is learned who the perpetrator of such anonymous hate speech graffiti/art is turns out to either be kids looking to get a reaction, or people attempting to smear their political opponents. Given the location of this particular incident, there are probably few Trump supporters riding that subway, and since it was likely done late at night, most likely a anti-social teenager.
However, if you wish to believe there are lots of Trump supporters riding the NYC writing such things on the advertisements, it's a free country. You will fit right in with that Facebook page.
"Isn't it odd that all these "hate crimes" seem to appear in the most left-wing areas of the country? College campuses, New York City, SF, etc."
Not so odd.
1. Big populations increase the odds because more people. 2. Politically charged population increases the odds. 3. Probably get more publicity in these places. 4. Anonymity of densely populated areas decreases potential accountability. 5. Big population increases the number of viewers and incentivizes the perps. 6. Diverse population is a target rich environment. 7. More crazy people.

Yeah. Go take that comment to your shrink, you political hack.
You're a Trump cultist. Obama has people in his life and far from him who feel cared for. Trump does not. Trump was asked about god and responded by yammering on about how he built a golf course. You have no brain if you can't see what's wrong with that.
Bullshit. Nothing you wrote addresses the hate crimes on college campuses. The reason you get more "Hate crimes" is because most of "hate crimes" are fakes. More leftists = more fake "hate crimes".

Wow, a whole lot of completely unsubstantiated statements in this paragraph.
What you believe is true is not necessarily true.
However, if you wish to believe there are lots of Trump supporters riding the NYC writing such things on the advertisements, it's a free country. You will fit right in with that Facebook page.
Oh and btw, Trump got 18.4% of the vote citywide, and 9.87% in Manhattan. Yes, he lost by a lot, but to claim that almost no Trump voters ride the subway in Manhattan is just ridiculous.
Interviewer: Who is God to you? What are some of your thoughts on this? Clearly you're a smart man, you're a smart businessman. You've contemplated this before? Or how do you contemplate it?
Trump: (Grimaces, takes deep breath and nods). Well I say God is the ultimate. You know, you look at this. You look at this incredible, here we are on the Pacific Ocean... How did I ever own this? I bought it fifteen years ago. I made one of the great deals, they say, EVER, this piece of land. I have no mortgage on it, as you... I will certify and represent to you. And I was able to buy this and make a great deal. That's what I want to do for the country. Make great deals. We have to. We have to bring it back. But God is the ultimate.
I didn't say I did know, Freder- I wrote that the recent history of such things allows one to guess. I ranked my guesses accordingly. You are free to do the same.
As several commenters have pointed out, these seem to happen in locations overwhelmingly populated by non-conservatives. And even in locations where conservatives do dominate, it often turns out that the message was written by someone not of that political bent- see the pre-election church arson in Mississippi, which I literally predicted the day it happened that it would turn out not to be a Trump supporter, which is exactly what we learned when the perpetrator was apprehended. This really like shooting fish in a barrel anymore.
My first guess would be an Obama supporter. Obama happily sat in the congregation of anti-semite Jeremiah Wright for twenty years. BO denounced him to win election, then was happy to host him at the White House. There Wright found plenty of fellow Jew-bashers like Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan to pall around with.
...never link to anything supporting their comments.
I actually linked to a video of God wanna-be Trump to show his abominably arrogant response to the question. You just don't read, right? The blue stuff is linked hypertext, Michael. Try it sometime.
And even in locations where conservatives do dominate, it often turns out that the message was written by someone not of that political bent- see the pre-election church arson in Mississippi.
The plural of anecdote is not data.
And remember you were all blaming intra-Muslim violence for the Mosque attack in Quebec. You are just as guilty of jumping to conclusions as anyone.
I don't know who did this, either do you. The only person who knows for sure is the person who did it. But we're ready to ascribe all the worst things to our political opponents. This is what comes of having the two most awful people in America run for President. Too bad one of them had to win.
"Blogger steve uhr said... Laslo's blatant antisemitism is not acceptable simply because he is trying to be funny. Not sure why the hostess permits such crap to be posted."
He's mocking you. Well, not you directly. But then you volunteered. So I guess it'd be fair to say you assumed the mantle of his mockery.
Was on the UW campus and the Ave. yesterday and saw almost no signs of anti-Democracy agitation. My son says the U is very aggressive about removing it as quickly as it's put up, so maybe it's that or the lousy weather or the Left is becoming a little self-aware.
Since the election every case of swastikas of which I am aware and where the perpetrators have been identified has fallen into one of two categories: Dumbocrats painting the swastikas as an anti-Trump protest, or mischievous teenagers, particularly teenagers painting the swastika on a school in the hope (expectation?) that the school will be temporarily closed. Every. Single. One. Seems unlikely that this will turn out to be different.
Yet my Jewish friends all blame Trump supporters. They go totally berserk. They keep staring off to the right for the threat, while the BDS movement and anti-Semitism disguised as anti-Zionism or pro-Palestinianism is sneaking up on them from the left.
"steve uhr said... Prior antisemetic post of Laslo:

If I had time I'm sure I could find others."
Perhaps you could try context and reading comprehension.
I was pointing out that the word choice of the headline in question could be seen as a slur against Jews, which I believed was intentional: the headline had "Jews buzzing" and I said "Just hits my ear wrong..."
One: You might want to save "antisemetic" for someone who actually dislikes Jews;
Two: It is "anti-semitic" with an 'I', not two 'e's. Nice try with sounding it out, though.
Three: it took you twenty-two minutes to find even THAT quote. Of course, you probably had to whittle through all my old "I'm fucking Scarlett Johansson" comments. Of course, she is Jewish, too. So maybe you can play with that for awhile.
You virtue-signal like the Village People doing "Y.M.C.A." I am assuming that is intentional.
Doesn't matter what I think about Trump, Balls. Trump beat Hillary. He won.
Keep crying.
That's not the issue, tyrant-cultist-defender. Go to a sports event if all you want is a team to mindlessly root for.
And by the way, the rooting ends after the next game proceeds. You can't root against the team that lost the pennant when you go to the world series. You really are a total dumb-dumb if you can't get something that basic. Stop living in 2016. Get up out of that cave, crawl around a bit. Lift your head up and take in some sunshine. You are living in the past in a way basically makes all your comments in February of 2017 worthless.
They are not limited to the Left. There have been morons who fake hate crimes against themselves in order to blame BLM, like a NY firefighter who set fire to his own house. Skimming through the list though, it looks like the majority of them are hoaxes perpetuated by Muslims. Muslim women seem particularly eager to set themselves up as victims.
There was a swastika drawing incident:
"Boy arrested in Esperance swastika graffiti spree / Boy, 13, determined to have acted alone. Not motivated by bias toward any individual or group. Was familiar with the symbol from a video game and "chose it because it was easy to draw." / 2017-01-06"
In the NY subway case, I'm thinking it's probably not a kid, because of the Holocaust reference. Thanks to our educational system, most kids probably can't tell you when WWII occurred.
My favorite:
"Police say a Volusia County man faked a hate crime, set his ex-girlfriend's car on fire and then staged his own abduction to throw off detectives.
Vincent Palmer, 27, told detectives he taped a note with racial slurs and the words "KKK" and "Trump" written on it to his ex-girlfriend's mailbox early Saturday before throwing a brick through her car window and dousing the back seat in gasoline because they were having problems over the custody of their children, according to an arrest report."
Who wouldn't choose the swastika on the butt? Option 1) get a tattoo dude to add lines making it into four squares; option 2)find a Nazi girlfriend (who is not a Nazi).
I just want to make sure that when Trump messes up, breaks the law, has an order struck down, loses the support of his country (already happened), April will be sure to use as her excuse the fact that he won an electoral college victory against HIllary CLinton. I just want to make sure that the guy who claims he can get away with gunning someone down on 5th Avenue, has the support of April Apple to do so, based on him not being HIllary who would be doing the gunning down.
I can rely on you to make that defense, right, April? The crime is ok because it's the person who does it that matters, right?
This is why we can't have a democracy. People like April can't distinguish between persons and acts and will let a tyrant get away with anything as long as she likes him better.
She can't even understand that's what she's doing.
It's hoax and will be shown to be a hoax but nice that everyone worked to clean it up at once. News is a cake that takes three days to bake these days and, ironically, that is because the elements of news - images and "stories" - spread so fast.

Deb said... Where in the HELL do they get that Trump is anti-Semitic?"
Hey, Nazis hate Jews, Trump is a Nazi, ergo, he must hate Jews. It's an odd Jew hater who has a Jewish SIL and a daughter who is a convert but we live in a post fact world nowadays.
It might also have something to do with keeping the majority of Jews in the Dem column. Obama and Kerry stuck a knife in Israel's back on their way out the door, but hey, look, a swastika! Trump's a Nazi!
Trump has broad appeal with the KKK and better spoken, well-dressed equivalents like Richard Spencer but in the minds of his cultlike defenders this is just a happy accident and not deserving of explanation. Hey, voters are voters! We need as many as we can get, reason the Trump cultists and if they happen to be Nazis, awesome! The day for commemorating the Holocaust must be purged of Jewish references. Just because genocidal eliminationists require authoritarians to implement their goals, doesn't mean that Trump's authoritarianism and xenophobia is all that bad. Just give the guy a chance. Let him bellow his lawless self-righteous delusions at you. Maybe the left and middle will learn to like it, also! Yeay! Alle amerika sind brüder!

You live in a bitter little echo chamber. I would recommend escaping it. Whether they pass voter ID laws before or after republicans approach 60 seats in the senate in 2018, by 2020 Mexicans wont be able to vote in California and Nevada anymore. Maybe after 3 or 4 democrat senators switch parties before 2018 trying to save their worthless careers they will do it.
I know you people think sharia law is popular in the US. Keep pushing that one. This is going to be a grand 8 years.
Global Warming has never been based on science. It is based on consensus. Science is based on skepticism. Religions use consensus and burn heretics. You are pushing a religion. We are pushing science.
william said... "You live in a bitter little echo chamber."
Doesn't CC comment here? This is no echo chamber for a liberal commenter, LOL!
CC used to engage every now and then. He is no longer engaging. His posts lately have been the bitter flinging of poo. A large part of that is he is filtering out a flood of cognitive dissonance and resorting to confirmation bias. We all do that to some extent, but he has descended into the echo chamber lately.
If that "echo chamber" consists of asking a commenter here what it's acceptable to her for Trump to do and what she finds legitimate criticism - let alone sufficiently wrong or horrifying to oppose - and she responds by chirping with, "Hillary!", then you're just saying what I've said all along.
This place is an echo chamber. Criticism of Trump is forbidden, or considered unworthy.
I'm sure you'll all soon pick up his habit of calling it "betrayal." Or, you know, "treason." Whatever.
The simple fact of the matter is you have a brain that has imposed upon itself an impenetrable barrier from discussing, you know, the president. The guy in charge. (Not Bannon?) This Trump guy. You can't do it.
Instead you shift to voter suppression efforts, how to move to a one-party system, Muslim stuff, and oh yeah, your favorite (an obsession?): Politics itself.
All much more important than the president's lawlessness and contempt for the country's people, I'm sure.
Any other time you're up for proving my point in so few words, just let me know.
Oh, that's right. The Daily Mail. Or what we here in the US call "a tabloid." That's how it's known in the UK. You've never been to the UK, have you?
Just like how you've never set foot in a science lab, done an experiment, or published a result.
Are you done shifting the topic? I'm interested in how you and your fellow Stockholm Syndrome patients intend to hold Trump accountable to anything. But it's clear that the simple answer is that you don't.
"Engage" apparently = Criticism of Hillary but not Trump. That's not to be entertained. It can be raised, just not engaged.
Lo and behold Ladies and Gents. Achilles has been allowed to re-write the dictionary. A lot of change must be made, if this control everything and fuck it up at all costs administration is allowed to carry out its aims. Achilles intends to play his part. First step, changing dictionary definitions.
CC: Obama was endorsed by the CPUSA and Rev. "Goddamn America." He disavowed Wright only when he was called on it. Bomber Billy Ayers was a guest at the WH. Unlike Spencer, Ayers had actual plans to murder people. Al Sharpton pushed a hate crime hoax and incited violence that ended in death. Spencer is just a bigot with a big mouth and a tiny following. He has no influence and no political power. Ayers was rewarded for his crimes with a university position and idiot Al got a MSNBC gig.
Show me any mainstream conservative site or publication which praises Spencer. National Review? The Weekly Standard? The WSJ? Brietbart? Ricochet?
P.J. O'Rourke joked years ago that you could fit the membership of the KKK into Jim Bob's garage in Mississippi and half of those present would be FBI informants. Yet the media has gulled people into thinking that "white supremacy" is some big deal, while ignoring and excusing the asshats who kept Milo from speaking because a gay half Jew who sleeps with black guys is some sort of Nazi.
Your side is devaluing and debasing language once again. All "Nazi" now means to the Left is someone who disagrees with the Left.
I don't know who you were referring to but I have probably been to the UK as many days as you have been in college. Probably a lot more.
I was referring to Achilles since it was in response to his comment but that would be obvious to anyone who can read a thread. Are you capable of reading a thread? Or is it just about stepping in, looking like a fool, getting in another cheap shot at minimum-wage earners in America and then beating your chest about how the comment had nothing to do with your fool, idiotic intrusion?
Sinclair Lewis wrote It can't happen here which we were discussing in a previous thread. He also, in 1919, wrote a book called "Free Air" about a cross country auto trip in 1914. Minneapolis to Chicago. My favorite Lewis book.
A plot point is that one car is following another by recognizing the "swastikas" that the lead cars tires make in the mud.
I remember how jarring it was reading the book to come across references to swastikas having nothing to do with National Socialism or anti-semitism.
I agree with other commenters that my money would be on an anti-Trumpist doing this graffiti. I suppose that it could be a Trumper but for the past 20 years or so it seems like every instance of this, nooses on doors, black church burners, name calling and the like have been false flags. I'm calling this a false flag absent evidence to the contrary.
You do realize that ex-president Obama used to have the various military service bands hail him at every opportunity. While doing it there were usually military folk around giving the American salute.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXgenKBiekU
I'm not ashamed to say it. Hail Trump. Oh, hail yes!. Hail to our chief.
Far bigger threats than some guy who is running his white supremacist organization from Whitefish Montana and managed to rustle up a crowd of about 200 to Heil Hitler and send the media into a spaz attack. You are evidently far more impressed with the brainpower of white supremacists than I am if you think a tiny group of malcontents possesses so much influence. Ironically, that's a big complement to Spencer, who would love to be as important as you guys say he is.
Again, Ayers tried to murder people and Sharpton has incited violence that did kill people. You dismiss them because you agree with their politics.
When reality shows you glacial melt this dramatic, you don't respond by saying, what all the most defensible evidence (i.e. NOT sunspots or volcanoes) points to is obviously wrong. Because economic reasons.
You are not promoting skepticism. You are promoting contrarianism.
I am skeptical or your need to imply that atmosphere does not affect climate. As is everyone else who doesn't deny evidence or refuse to be rational. We know of no astronomical bodies whose climate is unaffected by their atmosphere or lack thereof. None. It's one of the most important factors in determining its climate, as far as anyone can tell.
Why did Trump denigrate the US in his interview with O'Reilly? What is wrong with this loon? When O'Reilly says Putin is a murderer, Trump says the US "isn't so innocent". Why does he go out of his way to praise Putin? How strange that Nikki Haley at the UN took an opposite stance on Russia. How much more schizophrenic can this so called Administration get?
“Yeah. I don’t get why people hate the Jews. I mean, they haggle over my price and don’t leave a tip, but other than that they’re pretty okay in my book.” “You know,” he says, “that’s a stereotype.” “That’s a stereotype?” I ask. “How much does my service charge for anal?” “Uh… four hundred dollars.” “And what did you say you’d pay?” “Three-thirty-five.” “And are you going to leave me a tip?” “Uh…” “Look,” I said: “don’t be one of those Jews that gives the Holocaust a bad [good?] name, alright?” “Ummm… Maybe we could just watch some TV, instead. I brought a DVD of my old clips from SNL…” “SNL? Do you know Adam Sandler? He ALWAYS pays Full Price for anal. AND he leaves a tip.” “Maybe we should just call this a night…” “Uh… maybe you can have your Service send, like, a young girl?” “Young girl? You mean Tabitha, right? Skinny little bitch who looks like she’s twelve?” Uh… That sounds good, thank you.” “Fine,” I say as I leave. I mean, the Holocaust sucks and everything, but I sure get tired of old Jewish men…
Far bigger threats than some guy who is running his white supremacist organization...
Xenophobic over-reaction IS a threat. It turns practical, political, security-minded moves into stupid, ideological struggles over demography and other potential trivialities. It alienates law-abiding Muslims and reformers. It alienates informers. It alienates allied organizations and movements and pro-US militias and freedom movements in the Arab world. It substitutes fears for realities. It indulges Trump's desire to be the great demographic savior of Europe. Let Europe worry about Europe.
That's the way xenophobia always works. As a distraction. It is contrary to our security interests, which are a bigger concern than what some dude listened to before killing some guy, some where, at some far-off point in time, for some obscure political cause, with a pipe bomb. Or by a stampede. A stampede killed people at a Rolling Stones concert once, back in the day. Maybe we should put them on the terrorist watch list also.
Grow up. Get real. This country has serious business to do. Fear is no way to run it. You're letting fear rule you. And Trump counts on that.
People aren't denouncing antisemitism hard enough. I mean, why wouldn't you be really, really, upset about a swastika on a NYC subway map unless you hated Jews?
Sure, you denounce it, but not hard enough. You can't fool me, Nazis.
And I would just add, to my 2:43 comment, that this is why President Bannon was appointed - despite being a political advisor - to regularly be in at the NSC, while actual experts were dismissed.
Wishing to control our borders and have some say over who comes here is not xenophobic. For Chrissake, Trump has never said he opposes all immigration. The Left deliberately removes the distinction between illegal and legal immigration and then cries "xenophobia!"
When you consider that Malmo, Sweden is now the rape capital of Europe, with almost all of those rapes being committed by Muslims, that Paris feels like a city under occupation with soldiers and cops everywhere and that a majority of British Muslims favor Sharia law, it's not "xenophobia" to recognize that Islamic culture is incompatible with the West. Individual Muslims certainly can be worthy people. But Islamic culture as a whole is poisonous and is destroying Europe. I don't want us going down the same path.
As for our southern border, well, Dems want Hispanics here because they want votes. Republicans want them here for cheap labor. I question the wisdom of letting huge numbers of unskilled laborers enter at a time when unskilled jobs are being automated.
And I would just add, to my 2:43 comment, that this is why President Bannon was appointed - despite being a political advisor - to regularly be in at the NSC, while actual experts were dismissed.
Commander Cranky is unaware that (1) Bannon is an advisor to the real President; (2) Steve Bannon has a masters degree in National Security Studies from George Washington University School of Foreign Studies (SFS), which is a very selective and prestigious institution, and the Master of Arts in Security Studies is the highest degree they offer; (3) Steve Bannon is a veteran whose seven year career in the US Navy included a stint as a special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations.
The individuals dismissed from Trump's NSC include Obama drones, who are not missed because their "expertise" has landed America in shooting wars with five to seven Middle Eastern nations, depending on how one counts "kinetic military engagements". Trump also dismissed the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who have their own meetings with him.
Hey, Big Mike, what are Bannon's creds compared to those of 38 year old aspiring novelist Ben Rhodes, who put his fiction writing skills to work to cut a deal with Iran?
"In the spring of last year, legions of arms-control experts began popping up at think tanks and on social media, and then became key sources for hundreds of often-clueless reporters. ‘We created an echo chamber,’ [Rhodes] admitted, when I asked him to explain the onslaught of freshly minted experts cheerleading for the deal. ‘They were saying things that validated what we had given them to say.’"
One of the “overarching plotlines” Rhodes crafted credited Hassan Rouhani’s election in June with signaling a new willingness of Iranians to negotiate that the Obama administration then embraced. Obama, of course, would play the hero; the villains, however, numbered in the thousands, like the cast of “Ben Hur”: neocons, and those darkly loyal to Israel’s interests; partisan Republicans; knuckle-dragging warmongers, and other enemies of the peace."
This spinner of tall tales now sits on the Advisory Board of the Holocaust Museum, which might have to add a whole new wing if Rouhani gets his way.
stever says "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls" Anyone think that is not anti-Semitic? I know I am overly sensitive at times and tend to miss the hidden profound meaning.
Obama made a deal which puts the Jewish state in great danger, leftists are clamoring to admit immigrants from countries where "Mein Kampf" is a perpetual best seller and I'm supposed to be concerned about some dumbass scrawling swastikas on a subway car and a loud mouth loser with a tiny band of followers who lives out in Bumfuck Montana?
"Politics above security. That's the Trump Team." Actually that was Obama. Where is the demand for importing refugees from the ME coming from? Not from the American people.
It's too bad this site has become a hangout for anonymous bigots who need affirmation. I hope they at least use the Althouse Amazon portal so someone else can benefit from their presence.
When you consider that Malmo, Sweden... Paris... and that a majority of British Muslims....
Thank you for confirming what I suspected. You've elected Donald Trump to lead Europe through this troubled time. But I didn't notice that job up for election on the ballot in November. I voted for the job of American President. You know, because I'm an American and that's the job I get to decide on. I sure hope the European leader you elected for a European job doesn't let you down. What could go wrong? We only spent over a decade fighting for the soul of the Middle East. Hopefully your priority in trying to fight for Europe's future will turn out better.
I question the wisdom of letting huge numbers of unskilled laborers enter at a time when unskilled jobs are being automated.
So touching that you think it's a matter of timing. I guess at other times, it just wasn't a big deal.
Commander Cranky is unaware that (1) Bannon is an advisor to the real President...
Well, I call him the "so-called president." You know. Because that's the language he uses to describe REAL judges.
But other than that, thanks for basically admitting that you're ok with politicizing the NSC, that you think it should be led to political ends - since that's Banyon's primary job.
Obama made a deal which puts the Jewish state in great danger,...
Yes, Jewish states will definitely be saved by pre-emptive wars to keep countries of 77 million from becoming nuclear powers. I know that's worked really well in history. We bomb or go belligerent with a country and that keeps it from getting better weapons, let alone going nuclear. How could they refuse? So, either that or we just invade, occupy and regime-change it. Iraq was only 20 million people so if we could pull off that one so easily I'm sure trying the same stunt with country of a four-times larger population will be no biggie. All so that about eight million Jews and the Arabs allied with them can thank us for deciding the outcome of the great Sunni-Shia divide. No one will resent that and everyone will thank us for it.
exiledonmainstreet (2:17pm): It's even worse than you say. Not only was Obama endorsed by the CPUSA, Rev. Wright, and Bill Ayers, he was endorsed by three out of four white supremacist groups Esquire asked. I've linked to "Why White Supremacists Endorse Barack Obama" before, but it's worth linking again: the Imperial Wizard of the Imperial Klans of America endorsed McCain in 2008, but the Director of the White Aryan Resistance, the Chairman of the National Alliance (a lot nastier than their name implies - see link), and the Chairman of the American Nazi Party all endorsed Obama. Meaning what? That the endorsements of assholes are utterly irrelevant to any sane person's choice in an election. Of course, you already know that. If Romney had paid the KKK to endorse Obama, would CC have voted for Romney? I don't think so. By the way, the one black supremacist they asked, "Yahanna, General, Israelite School Of Universal Practical Knowledge", endorsed McCain because Obama wasn't black enough for him. Proving, once again, that endorsements are bullshit. (Yahanna's likes and dislikes: "Likes: Segregation / Dislikes: White oppressors, black women, American culture, Muslims, Christians, Martin Luther King Jr.".)
The church of climate change has been manufacturing a crisis in order to justify a bureaucratic takeover of the world economy so Steyer can make another billion selling windmills that don't help anyone. You can't explain how a 50 part per million increase in CO2 has more of an affect than greater amounts of methane that are far more green house causing. You can't explain why there is a positive feedback loop between temperature and increased CO2 levels that will turn the earth into Venus despite obvious evidence to the contrary.
You are creating your own reality. It is pathetic.
Graffiti like this is ugly but not threatening - it's more likely the result of some drunk teenager than a campaign of intimidation by an organized group of Jew-haters. What's threatening are bomb threats - over the past two weeks, something like 50 Jewish community centers around the country have received telephoned bomb threats, often forcing evacuations and other actions in response. The FBI is apparently now investigating but so far no perps have been identified. Of course, these threats could just as easily be from a Palestinian supporter as a Neo-Nazi, so the left doesn't really care about them.
Yes I can explain why melting the very tundra containing greenhouse gases leads to more of those gases being released into the air to retain more heat. A fucking 5th grader could explain something so simple. Lol. I CAN'T EXPLAIN positive feedback. You're hilarious. Sounding like O'Really, now.

But go ahead and keep confusing your defense of Exxon Mobil and OPEC's bureaucratic hold on the world economy and any actual science. The earth doesn't have to be like Venus to kill off 90% of current species and make the coasts containing 90% of human habitation like Bangladesh. You are a hyperventilating shill who confuses reality with your need to keep billionaires from allowing technology to advance and with a hold on an economy that's bound to transition to more direct (i.e. RENEWABLE) energy resources, no matter what you were scared into believing by the propaganda outlets that specialize in the irrational and other forms of ignorance.
I'm done talking about this with you about this garbage. It's simply one plank of Puppet Trump's Doom and Gloom Agenda. Go talk to the scientists who've been subject to a muzzling on this topic by your Russian president wanna-be.
Exiled. Good stats. I live in the SFBA, and I know there are more Communist book store, theatre and night club owners, Che-wearing poseurs, Stalinists (Country Joe was named after who?) and Maoists than there are Nazis in the entire rest of the country. A significant proportion of my neighbors have spun themselves into a fantasy world. But every time I see a Hilary sign, I do a little happy dance.
CC If you are trying to convince people, you are not doing a very good job of it. In fact, I keep trying to wipe the spittle off the screen. Get a grip.
Why do people always use the swastika when they can't think of anything else? Where I live, I've seen a few graffitis where they are visible to the public, near roads. On powerline transformers, for instance. The graffitis are widely space, in different areas, and the style is a little different for each them. I don't think the same person is doing them, but they are the same symbols: a swastika and an erect penis. I imagine some young punk, hiding in the bushes at night, waiting for the headlights on the road to disappear. He's got a can of paint and maybe a minute to do his dirty work. So he faces his blank canvas, tries to think of something that will draw the eye and be objectionable, and be easy to mark out with a can of spray paint. And the punk usually comes up with the same symbols: a swastika and an erect penis. Why?
Speaking of global warming and methane, I've heard that cows are a serious problem. Why don't we mitigate the CO2 emissions by feeding all the cows Beano and then we don't have to change our lifestyles so much?
I don't need to convince anyone of anything. If they're gullible enough to believe that corporate lobbyists can change the realities of geophysics, then they're too far gone for me. I don't try to convince flat earth believers, either.
But other than that, it's nice that you want your scientific realities to come at you gently, non-threatening, and in a way that indulges your self-esteem. Yes, you are a good person! No matter how little you know of something! Don't let those mean scientists make you feel less all-knowing than you would perceive yourself to be! You are still the wisest, neatest, funniest apple of your parents' eyes! And you get a gold star for participation! We'll make those glaciers stop retreating! Who says that they're more important than you are!
How on earth did the operations of a utility company become "a lifestyle?" No one cares where they get their energy from, as long as the lights stay on. Personally I get mine 100% renewable. You did know that it gets converted back to electricity all the same, right?
Further, it's easier for a consumer to put a windmill or panel on their property than it is a smokestack. Ever think about that? Hmmmm. They can even profit or save off of it through further decentralization of the grid. These things are pro-consumer. Whenever right-wing people talk about being pro-market, I always know they mean pro-big corporation and anti-consumer.
Believe It or Not, CC, I realize that you were taking it easy on me, and I appreciate it, because I despise rancor.
Renewables can and are making a contribution, but are still far too variable and even if overbuilt, we lack a power storage mechanism sufficient to replace the steady load borne by fossil and nuclear power resources. (I'm big on hydro, but apparently that is environmentally unfashionable and we are tearing out dams.)
Meanwhile NIMBY and BANANA are everywhere. Did they ever get those offshore windmills built that the Kennedys opposed? Of course this also makes fission and fusion power development more difficult. (I still insist on the importance of these technologies because even if you could scratch out a living on the surface of the dirtball here on used french fry oil, you're going to need nuclear power to take us to the stars.)
Plus which, until and unless we have sufficient power galore to transform elements into chemicals that we need, we're still going to need half the current consumption of fossil fuels just for petrochemicals - plastics, resins, pharmaceuticals, fertilizer, chip masks, all that.
Not to mention that while electric vehicles are fine for the limited applications now contemplated, we're a long way away from, say, a pickup truck or even a sedan that will do 500 miles at five below, then re-energize in 5 minutes. On a physics basis it really annoys me that a hybrid or electric vehicle, whatever it's putative Energy Efficiency, is typically much heavier then the same auto with ICE.
So, although maybe this is not the central point that you're trying to make, we're going to need a comfortable supply of fossil fuels for the next 50 to 100 years. And we will be putting a bunch of it back in the atmosphere as CO2, NOx, etc.
So I think it's harmless if not wise to look at alternative strategies for mitigation. Carbon sinks, carbon sequestration, and yes, if it makes sense to reduce methane emissions, or if even possible to control water vapor. It seems like you want to reduce consumption of fossil fuels as an absolute good, for its own sake. Like, if you could take all that alternative energy and store it by, say, turning it into gasoline, you would reject that because it is immoral to burn gasoline. Which would seem to be harmless if, again, you mitigated any effect on the environment.
Also, the renewable technologies or not trivial and their effect on the environment when you consider the entire life cycle. Lots of rare earth in that picture. Lots of pollution mining, or else we can farm that out to China, and then pay their price and walk their line to get it.
Also, and you may attack me for this, I'm not wholly convinced that we can extract infinite renewable energies without some impact on world climate. Is it possible that we might take out so much of the atmosphere's energy through windmills that we could affect climate in that way?
Finally as to backyard solar and wind, I think that those wicked old economies of scale are going to continue to mean that, ceteris paribus, it's mostly going to be a good idea to have big central plants. Just like it makes more sense to have gigawatt coal/oil/gas plants than for everyone to get backyard generators. Where it makes sense, like out in the sticks where nobody wants to run any more lines, it will be done or it's being done.
TL, DR: we're not there yet, the path is unclear, and we need all the tools in the tool kit.
"I had my doubts about him and still am uneasy with his twitter stuff but he is the last chance, I think, for our culture to survive."
Do you really believe this? I find it astonishing that anyone can see in Trump any hint of his being a savior of our culture. (I find it astonishing that anyone expects any person to come along and be the savior of our culture.)
I have no rancor toward you buddy, BL. Most of what you write I agree with to some extent. Without doing a point-by-point, I basically see that this is all part of an overall transition. There are economic reasons for it, but I still put the ecological need at the forefront. Economies couldn't exist prior to agriculture and settled human habitation, which a stable climate made possible. If we allow access to all the tools, let's accept that the growth is toward the renewables - and if they're disruptive, as new challengers tend to be, I think that's to be expected. The outcomes will be better. We can continue improving on their own impact. Aside from mitigating toxicity and other externalities, this will include better storage, which is being investigated: Metal hydrides, etc. Elon Musk stuff.
Oh, and fuck the Kennedys. Put the windmills wherever the wind power's greatest.
By the way, not to spoil the mood of comity, but while I'm appreciative of elements of your posting above, I happen to be pretty firmly convinced that the major player in the climate is in fact solar activity-yes, yes, I grant that the advances in technology are potentially worthwhile and desirable anyway, and I understand about the precautionary principle, although that cuts both ways-and that if the sun turns against us, we really could either zero or double (or 10x) all greenhouse gases and still be in major freaking trouble. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallen_Angels_(science_fiction_novel) for a reasonably intelligent treatment.
Commander Crankshaft: you offer a lot of blah blah blah on global warming. But no empirical evidence. Pls explain why today's tmperatures are optimal. Start there.
Even if YOU don't, millions know how warmistas have dicked with the data.
Try to explain why Argo ocean buoys and satellite data, which cover the entire earth, were rejected in favor of non-global, non-standard and downright flaky measurements, such as:
The ocean buoy data was rejected in favor of the old-fashioned way, which was to dip buckets into the sea and take the water's temperature! Yeah, that'll do it!!
Then explain why NOAA, NASA and other government agencies "adjusted" historical data downwards, and more recent data upwards, to make it look like the hockey stick.
Then tell us how these same agencies can claim to know "global temperatures" down to the tenth of a degree, when they have almost NO DATA for the poles, or for much of Africa and South America.
Or how about this: none of the models has correctly predicted the future. NOt even close!!
Nah Jay blah blah blah. I'll have cogent cnversations with rational people as per the above. Not play interrogated witness to a cherry picking, conspiracy-theorizing hack like you. Good night. And make sure to let that Nigerian prince whose playbook you've copied that I said hello and sorry about not sending the $20 million. I'm sure you'll make good friends with him given how easily Exxon Mobil bought and sold you. They probably didn't even have to fork over a cent. It just went to the government directly and that was good enough for you.
Lol. wattsupwiththat.com. I'm sure they do your science homework for you to. wattsupwiththat.com. Talk about a name that advertises its lack of seriousness.
There are serious lobbyists out there, Jay. They do the disinformation campaign much better than you do, I"m sure. Hell, even hired the same lobbyists Phillip Morris used to deny the cigarette-cancer link. They're way ahead of you. Once you have to put on a suit and tie to sell your disinformation, then we'll talk. You certainly won't be wearing a lab coat and you certainly won't even take a look at a picture of the poles, let alone go there yourself to take a look. It's hard to board a plane to Greenland when your hands are covering your eyes.
Oh, I don't think that R&B could even define science. It's a truth-crapping faith thing to him, with scientists in white vestments informing the faithful of dogma.

From the Facebook post:
"I guess this is Trump's America," said one passenger. No sir, it's not. Not tonight and not ever. Not as long as stubborn New Yorkers have anything to say about it."
To him, it is obviously Trump supporters who drew the swastikas.
Because Hitler.
Trump seems to be many adults' Slender Man. Boo. Or Sie Heil. Whichever.
I am Laslo.
A progressive wrote that.
Man in the high castle promo? Or just de Blasio NYC?
False flag operation of The Robert Reich.
A few weeks ago, at a local grocery store, (Natural Grocers) I was paying for my items at a check out stand when I, and everyone else in the store, was treated to an outburst of crazy from an old man yelling... "Trump and the Jews are going to destroy everything!"
I live in a blue town.
*fixed?
Nice story - one idiot acts out, people work together to remove the hateful messages he left behind. I should have stopped reading when I got to the comments.
It looks like the poorly-rendered swastikas some muslim got caught putting up.
"I've never seen so many people simultaneously reach into their bags and pockets looking for tissues and Purel."
Wow! I've never seen anyone, much less a group, reach into their bags and pockets looking for tissues and Purel. Or even just Purel alone.
My first thought was that this was Black Lives Matter's America, or Muslim refugee's America. Seriously, how on earth does this get associated with Trump? I'm having trouble gearing down my brain to that level of stupidity. I need to study Beavis and Butthead to see how its done.
Wow! I've never seen anyone, much less a group, reach into their bags and pockets looking for tissues and Purel.
I haven't either, but I have been in a group where someone said, "We need alcohol."
Trump has certainly set off the left.
No, Michael. Trump didn't 'set off' the left. They 'set off' themselves.
I would submit that Trump is probably the least antisemitic president we've ever had.

This Hitler Nonsense
(Rather long and serious article).
These people sure love them some scapegoating, hmm?
You know who ELSE was really into scapegoating?
It's funny because Trump is the quintessential New Yorker. Nobody hates New Yorkers more than other New Yorkers.
Did this kind of thing not happen during Obama's Presidency -- or was it just not reported? I don't know the answer to my question.

And they may be. Even Megan McArdle is trying to warn them.
Speculation.

It is just partisan politics played out on a different stage.
The subject is anti-Semitism and ARM labels RBG a partisan.
Thanks, good to know where you stand, as if we didn't know already.
"This is a toothless threat."
I didn't say it ARM. Did you notice that it was a quote ?
Personally, I think the Democrats may well see the Reid Option taken.
Megan McArdle's latest column is a must-read.
Spray paint is different from Sharpie. Sadly Rudy Giuliani was busy elsewhere at the time.
The right wing judges vote as a bloc with Kennedy rarely deviating from this bloc vote.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_term_opinions_of_the_Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States#2015_term_membership_and_statistics
Kennedy sided with the majority 97.5% of the time,
Kagan 94.9%
Breyer 93.8
Roberts 91.3
Ginsburg 87.5
Scalia 83.3
Alito 82.1
Sotomayor 81.1
The least likely to side with the majority, and the Justice responsible for submitting more than twice as many opinions as any other, was Thomas at 72.5%.
Due to the erratic spacing of letters employed, I read the graffiti as “Jews be long in the oven.”
Maybe they thought Jewish children take longer than nine months to gestate.
Not sure where they got that information. Maybe they think it takes longer for the nose to fully form.
My main take on this: someone wrote this hoping the expected scorn would be directed at the enemy, but they also agree with it, anyway.
I am Laslo.
Laslo in great form this morning. :-D
America’s New Game Show: “Swastika or Bukkake?”

Laslo's blatant antisemitism is not acceptable simply because he is trying to be funny. Not sure why the hostess permits such crap to be posted.
What the progs are really scared of is not Trump being Hitler. What worries them the most is that they could be wrong, that the entire liberal establishment, Hollywood included, may be wrong to the very core. That shit may not be, after all, Shinola.
Steve, c'mon! Laslo is not antisemitic!
Nothing could be finer than to hear a lefty whiner in the mor-ning.
Here, in order, are the most likely pools from which the original graffiti artist hails given the location:
(1) Teenager looking to shock people
(2) Trump-hating Progressive
(3) Muslim
(4) Trump-hating Republican
(5) Anti-Semitic Trump supporter
(6) Generic Trump supporter
That the commenters immediately jump to the conclusion this is a Trump supporter tells you more about them than the actual writer of the graffiti.
But I guess you learned all this in your vast experience with corporate America, and how they are always open, forthcoming, objective, unbiased, and serving all the non-financial interests of their country and society.
gee Quest... i don't remember you being that circumspect with the obama/clinton stuff... you've come a long way !... and trump has no conflicts of interest either ... keep it up, we're all going down together... this blog and this time are an interesting look at the populace's behavior in how a totalitarian regime's rise happens.. we are very close to losing it... delegitimizing the fourth estate, then doing the same to a branch of govt, creating secret laws and order by a shadow govt.. all really for no good reason since the republicans control 2 of the 3 branches of govt
this is not the blog that stood up so vociferously to obama and clinton...
What are they going to do ? Get a real job ?
Are you kidding ?
They're usually the ones bringing down the company, the organization, great countries throughout history, you name it.
The resident historian weighs in.

And you base this order on what? What the monkeys flying out of your ass told you.
just would like to remind mike that clinton got 3 million more votes than trump and add in the other anyone but trump voters - trump still behind by 10 million votes... just the peculiar, antiquated system we use to pick a president (i'm not saying that the donald didnt win fair and square by the rules)... unless of course you count the miracle of voter fraud ! using that miracle of course he won !... hes the greatest ... and has huge hands too... huge i say ..

That doesn't show Kennedy votes with the "Right" it shows he's the swing vote.

Freder,
In recent years, pretty much all the cases where it is learned who the perpetrator of such anonymous hate speech graffiti/art is turns out to either be kids looking to get a reaction, or people attempting to smear their political opponents.
Etc etc.
Nobody holds a candle to President Obama when it comes to narcissism.

Yeah. Go take that comment to your shrink, you political hack.
You're a Trump cultist. Obama has people in his life and far from him who feel cared for. Trump does not. Trump was asked about god and responded by yammering on about how he built a golf course. You have no brain if you can't see what's wrong with that.
"Not so odd."
Bullshit. Nothing you wrote addresses the hate crimes on college campuses. The reason you get more "Hate crimes" is because most of "hate crimes" are fakes. More leftists = more fake "hate crimes".
The quoted headline has 'Jews buzzing'?

Oh and btw, Trump got 18.4% of the vote citywide, and 9.87% in Manhattan. Yes, he lost by a lot, but to claim that almost no Trump voters ride the subway in Manhattan is just ridiculous.
I think it is pretty useless to try to address Freder and Ritmo who almost never link to anything supporting their comments.
I will say they sound more intelligent than the obvious trolls but that is not saying much.,

More knowledgeable than those flying out of yours, Fredo.
You know, this actually deserves transcription:
ROFLMAO
There's your leader, Conservatives.
Doesn't matter what I think about Trump, Balls. Trump beat Hillary. He won.
Keep crying.

Several commenters have asserted this, but not one of you has produced actual facts to back up your assertion.

Isn't it odd that all these "hate crimes" seem to appear in the most left-wing areas of the country? College campuses, New York City, SF, etc.

Perhaps you could try context and reading comprehension.
I was pointing out that the word choice of the headline in question could be seen as a slur against Jews, which I believed was intentional: the headline had "Jews buzzing" and I said "Just hits my ear wrong..."
One: You might want to save "antisemetic" for someone who actually dislikes Jews;

Here's a link to a database of hate crime hoaxes:
http://www.fakehatecrimes.org/
@ Laslo:
Who wouldn't choose the swastika on the butt? Option 1) get a tattoo dude to add lines making it into four squares; option 2)find a Nazi girlfriend (who is not a Nazi).
(Not that there's anything wrong with Bukkake.)
Who was it that called New York "Hymietown"? Not Trump, I think.
"clinton got 3 million more votes than trump"
Good for her.
She can be president of California.
When the founders warned about the perils of self-government, they were warning against folks like April. Make no mistake about it.
This is precisely why Trump must be fought at every turn. People like April are too scared to say no.
Where in the HELL do they get that Trump is anti-Semitic?
Got it. The fact that you always joke about having sex with Scarlett Johansson proves you are not anti-Semitic.
It's hoax and will be shown to be a hoax but nice that everyone worked to clean it up at once. News is a cake that takes three days to bake these days and, ironically, that is because the elements of news - images and "stories" - spread so fast.

She got more than that in California. She just lost the vote total in the rest of the country,
Trump has broad appeal with the KKK and better spoken, well-dressed equivalents like Richard Spencer but in the minds of his cultlike defenders this is just a happy accident and not deserving of explanation.

By the way Ritmo, Global Warming "scientists" were caught lyin again.
Global Warming has never been based on science. It is based on consensus. Science is based on skepticism. Religions use consensus and burn heretics. You are pushing a religion. We are pushing science.

Doesn't CC comment here? This is no echo chamber for a liberal commenter, LOL!
No doubt a white supremacist did it. We know that NYC is infested with them, right?

CC used to engage every now and then. He is no longer engaging. His posts lately have been the bitter flinging of poo. A large part of that is he is filtering out a flood of cognitive dissonance and resorting to confirmation bias. We all do that to some extent, but he has descended into the echo chamber lately.
You live in a bitter little echo chamber.

CC used to engage every now and then.

OMG! You mean MacDonalds does science ?
I don't know who you were referring to but I have probably been to the UK as many days as you have been in college. Probably a lot more.
Obama was endorsed by the CPUSA and Rev. "Goddamn America."
Oh, real threats to America I'm sure.
Tell us more about why Giuliani changed the name of the order from "Muslim ban." Tell us about Saudi Arabia's and Egypt's and UAE's exemption from it.

Science is based on skepticism.
Not on a skepticism of reality.

Another example, from a couple days ago:
“Yeah. I don’t get why people hate the Jews. I mean, they haggle over my price and don’t leave a tip, but other than that they’re pretty okay in my book.”
“You know,” he says, “that’s a stereotype.”
“That’s a stereotype?” I ask. “How much does my service charge for anal?”
“Uh… four hundred dollars.”
“And what did you say you’d pay?”
“Three-thirty-five.”
“And are you going to leave me a tip?”
“Uh…”
“Look,” I said: “don’t be one of those Jews that gives the Holocaust a bad [good?] name, alright?”
“Ummm… Maybe we could just watch some TV, instead. I brought a DVD of my old clips from SNL…”
“SNL? Do you know Adam Sandler? He ALWAYS pays Full Price for anal. AND he leaves a tip.”
“Maybe we should just call this a night…”
“Uh… maybe you can have your Service send, like, a young girl?”
“Young girl? You mean Tabitha, right? Skinny little bitch who looks like she’s twelve?”
Uh… That sounds good, thank you.”
“Fine,” I say as I leave.
Dipping my toe in to the discussion, Commander Crankshaft certainly has the Crank right.
People aren't denouncing antisemitism hard enough. I mean, why wouldn't you be really, really, upset about a swastika on a NYC subway map unless you hated Jews?
Sure, you denounce it, but not hard enough. You can't fool me, Nazis.
Are you, or have you ever been, an anti-semite?

"Xenophobic over-reaction IS a threat."
Bottom line, I'm against open borders, and doing away with passports and visa.
I think people who are in favor of such nonsense should be converted to steam.
Field Marshal Ritmo favors us with considered opinions derived from public restroom wall graffiti.

No one will resent that and everyone will thank us for it.

exiledonmainstreet (2:17pm):
It's even worse than you say.

Science is based on skepticism.
Not on a skepticism of reality.
The reality is your side is lying, making up evidence, and persecuting whistle blowers.

You are creating your own reality. It is pathetic.
Achilles' own reality is ignorance, fed by political lobbying interests groups. If they say science can't explain something, then he's always got Bill O'Reilly to back him up.

If you are trying to convince people, you are not doing a very good job of it.
Who says that they're more important than you are!
...change our lifestyles...
Entertaining halftime. She must be a conservative.
Oh, and fuck the Kennedys.
See, who says we can't all get along!
"Oh, and fuck the Kennedys."
See, who says we can't all get along!
Amen!

Snort!
