"BURLINGTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – A court date Friday for a Harwinton woman accused of trying to hit a police officer with her car Thursday in Burlington.
State police say 58-year-old Eileen Pierce tried to hit an officer directing traffic at a tree-trimming site on Route 69– allegedly driving her Subaru wagon directly at him, yelling out the window, and shaking her fist. The officer quickly got out of the way, and police say Pierce narrowly missed hitting a tree crew.
When Pierce was pulled over at the Burlington-Bristol line, troopers say she rambled for several minutes, saying she was upset with police and that officers are being murdered because they tend to abuse people’s rights — noting she was angry that Donald Trump is president.
Pierce was arrested on charges of second-degree attempted assault with a motor vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and failure to drive in the proper lane in a construction zone.
She was held overnight on $5,000 surety bond for arraignment in Bristol Superior Court."

Meanwhile, an attorney who is trying to assist more than 200 Yemenis in gaining entry into this country said Thursday that her office will file a contempt motion of its own on Friday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

@exiledonmainstreet, he was a very good collegiate and pro running back whose career was cut short by World War II. Any idea what he did when he got back in civilian life?
One of my medical school classmates spent some time with him in his mission in Korea.
Halas had done the same for several other Bear players who aspired to be doctors or dentists. Among them was guard Dan Fortmann, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame who served for many years as team physician of the Rams.
So when the NFL draft approached in 1952, only Halas and the Bears saw fit to use a high choice on McColl. They waited at that, selecting in the third round a player who under normal circumstances would have been a first-rounder. At 6-4 and 230 pounds, McColl was a natural for the newly evolving position of tight end.
Wait! Trumps been in office two weeks. You think that the operational planning & greenlighting of a mission like this happens in two weeks? ARM, get serious, buddy!
This was planned & greenlighted under the Obama administration & Trump just didn't stop it. This has nothing to do with his people or his chain of command. It was just a ball that was rolling in the military that for whatever reason no one reached out & stopped.
It's fundamentally unserious to describe this as in any way as being a product of the Trump administration.
AReasonableMan said... At what point then does Trump take full responsibility for the security of the country? When you lose arguing the specifics, change the subject and move to the general.
I asked a specific question. The poster wanted to argue that Trump wasn't responsible despite having green-lighted the raid. If he is not responsible now, when is he responsible. Give a date.
This Yemen strike issue clearly shows the rot that was present in the Obama administration. Too bad that Trump can't trust anything with the taint of Obama during the transition. Also a further reason for Trump to quickly finish getting his team fully in place by totally sweeping away the Dem obstruction to his nominees.
The poster wanted to argue that Trump wasn't responsible despite having green-lighted the raid. If he is not responsible now, when is he responsible. Give a date.
In terms of "kinetic" operations, 6 months in.
Seriously, do you have any idea what these guys go through to get something like this approved? Then planned, & then provisioned?
Now, policy's a different story. But, operations...

Yeah that seems about right. Credit for all good things goes to Trump and he has at least another seven years to blame Obama for everything bad. Democrats want everything the same right? Payback and all that?
The operation was planned long in advance and was waiting for the new moon phase to strike. The weren't waiting for Trump to OK it. Wonder which Obama holdover tipped off the AQ about the timing.
Michael K, you bring back very good memories! When I was a little girl, I could occasionally wheedle a Saturday trip to the dump out of my dad. When we got to the back road he would let me steer the pickup. I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world. Mom, of course, never got to come with. That just wouldn't have been right.

Live by the whine die by the whine.
*********
Yeah, that's it.
PAST Obama slams on Bush are THE SAME as PREDICTIONS and have the same evidentiary value that Trump will do the same thing.
1. Despite the fact that apparently the mission was betrayed, as evidenced by the volume and nature of the enemy presence, they reportedly killed all opposition and took whatever there was to take. Whether they got the Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe or not does not mean the mission failed.
2. Still trying to figure out how anyone else's behavior justifies yours. As a first approximation I'm going to diagnose this as a childish evasion. I'll skip the part where you seem happy about it.
Why are you even harping about the loss of the aircraft? I really don't get it. You're trying to draw some kind of an analogy to Operation Eagle Claw? It just doesn't make any sense. It's a stupid observation. At best.
A helicopter was also lost in the raid on Osama bin Laden. Does that make it a failure? Is that the salient point about Neptune Spear that you remember? I mean, you're just flailing wildly.
3. You're not offering specifics I notice. In any case the point is trivial. If he changed water into wine you would accuse him of promoting alcoholism.
By the way, you set your sights just a little too high. Why don't you try blaming this on Mattis or Flynn? Then you can attack Trump for choosing bad people.
The answer is the same, that the operation was in the military system and inherited from the Obama people. If Hillary has been elected then whatever dirtbags she picked would have signed off on it just the same and probably have the same results, with the possible exception that Obama's people probably wouldn't have told AQAP that they were coming.
My contribution: As I sit in my office after a lovely Italian dinner with my wife (Traverso's, near the Naperville/Bolingbrook border), lit joint in hand and 18 internet tabs containing news stories waiting to be read and filed away, I am grateful for the knowledge I've gained over the years lurking and occasionally posting here. Hope everyone has a good weekend. G'night.
This federal statute, signed into law by President Bush, explicitly calls for over 700 miles of fencing to be build along the U.S.-Mexican border. Basically one-third of the border is to be walled off.
It will be interesting to see Democrats attack executive orders that go beyond the text of the federal statute. I'm not even sure Trump is going beyond the federal statute.
Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take all actions the Secretary determines necessary and appropriate to achieve and maintain operational control over the entire international land and maritime borders of the United States
I refused to take administrative law while I was in law school, because I think administrative law is unconstitutional. I'm a non-delegation guy! Only Congress can pass laws!
My take on this is that the executive branch--the enforcer-- can do whatever he deems necessary to protect the border. He could, for instance, send the army and marines and navy to enforce the border. And you can't sue and stop it.
On the other hand, any "regulations" that unelected bureaucrats try to pretend are laws that the rest of us have to obey are not, in fact, laws at all. It's not a crime to disobey an order by Homeland Security, because Homeland Security is not a law-making branch of the government.
"U.S. District Judge James Robart ruled in favor Friday of Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who sued to invalidate key provisions of Trump’s executive order."
Bob "Big Balls" Ferguson assumes personal responsibility for the Middle Eastern "refugee" who shoots up a Seattle nightclub after Trump orders a major allocation of "refugees" to Wash State. Trump keeps a campaign promise while Dems like Ferguson shoot themselves in the foot sponsoring potential terrorists.
Meanwhile, thousands of Democrat women are in the streets of D.C. protesting Trump because they say he's a pussy grabber.
The next week they are in airports and different streets protesting because Trump has ordered the delay of the immigration of thousands of Middle Eastern pussy grabbers.
Reminds me of the nitwit in grade school who walked around all day wearing a "kick me" sign somebody had stuck to his back except these women wear it in front and put it there themselves. Clever Dems.
Except for the part about arrogant judicial oligarchs letting thousands of potential terrorists immigrate, this is pretty fun.
ARM: "At what point then does Trump take full responsibility for the security of the country?"
You don't get it do you? Trump keeps his campaign promise to protect the country by issuing an order to keep the potential terrorists out. The Democrats go before their toady judges demanding, "Let 'em in. Let 'em in." Trump can't lose.
Allowing the Dems to self destruct will go a long way toward security of the nation.
ARM - My understanding is that operation was planned and approved before Trump took office. Unlike Carter, Trump (and I suspect Obama) had no involvement in planning. This one's on the shoulders of the "professionals." I believe the execution date was determined to coincide with the next new moon. So until we put inaugurations on a lunar cycle ... well. But you've got a lot invested in pinning this on Trump so have at it.
An article at Slashdot says that the "immediate and irreparable injury" cited by Judge Robart in his decision blocking Trump's visa EO is the loss of H1-B workers to Microsoft and other tech companies in Washington. https://politics.slashdot.org/story/17/02/04/0828247/microsofts-h-1b-workers-cited-in-motion-that-successfully-blocked-trumps-travel-ban The 'antifa' antifascist rioters and other protesters are being used as muscle by international corporations. Way to go, Lefties! Why not just sew a swastika on your shirt sleeve so we can all see whose side you are on?
Speaking of things where females aren't allowed, as in visits to the dump, where is a female version of The Wild Adventure in Montana? Fly fishing. Gourmet meals. Front porch view of mountains. Fine wine. Solitude.
And then there's this: The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you figure out why.
ARM has a point. I always wondered at what point Obama and Hillary were going to to take responsibility for the stupid decisions in Libya and Syria that created millions of refugees too. ARM never seemed bothered, but some event must have awoken him.
I have been on Facebook for a few years now. I reluctantly accepted a friend request from my youngest daughter, the rebel. I have shied away from accepting because I am a hard core Christian conservative and she is not. Or at least I thought so. We never discuss politics at family gatherings, so I never knew exactly where she stood.
The day after the woman's march, she questioned on FB the purpose of the protest ending with: "probably just a protest about old fashioned baby killin'". Whoa!
“This bias can no longer be chalked up as simply a function of too many lefty reporters and editors in the newsroom,” Kuntz added. “The Times has geared it survival strategy to preaching to the liberal converted. Although no one in authority at The Times says so explicitly in public, you can read between the lines of such statements as the October 2015 announcement by CEO Mark Thompson. He said that The Times plans to ‘double the number of [its] most loyal readers,’ and ‘double its digital revenue,’ by 2020, by catering to those who most reliably part with money for Times content.”
I came across this in a KC Johnson article and thought it supports your commentary on the NYT. Maybe you've seen it before but I had not. Kuntz was a long time editor who quit because their propaganda conflicted with his professionalism.
Trump apparently plans to eviscerate Dodd-Frank, as if he knows what the hell he is doing. I decided to look up Christopher Dodd on Wikipedia and I was shocked to read:
[Personal life
In 1970, Dodd married Susan Mooney; they divorced in 1982.[83][84] Afterwards, he dated at different times Bianca Jagger and Carrie Fisher, among others.[85]
Dodd was a notorious alcoholic and serial philanderer, joining fellow New England Irish Catholic Senator Edward Kennedy in well-publicized debauchery and lechery.]
Notorious alcoholic? Serial philanderer? Joining Edward Kennedy in debauchery and lechery?
I no longer trust Wikipedia because it is obviously subject to being hacked by Rethuglican liars and fascists. I can think of no other explanation to such defamatory accusations in an alleged reputable online encyclopedia.

Worst approval ratings of any newly elected president since they have been measured.
0 for 3 by my count. Try to put some effort into your trolling efforts in future.
"Well first of all Bad Lieutenant, that's Whizzer White--college football star before he went to law school."
I'm not Bad Lieutenant.
" Is there a Constitutional crisis afoot?"
In your head, Willy. In your head,
"But tonight--looking at that sunset, I've decided simply to think about happier things for a while. I'll give politics a rest for a day or two."
Me, too.
Plus, the dump has to be visited tomorrow. I told my wife, if she was good she would be invited,. Not every woman is invited to the dump.
@exiledonmainstreet, he was a very good collegiate and pro running back whose career was cut short by World War II. Any idea what he did when he got back in civilian life?
""Well first of all Bad Lieutenant, that's Whizzer White--college football star before he went to law school."
I remember Whizzer White when he played for the Bears. He may have been going to law school at the time.
Halas was good about that. He let Bill McColl play while he was in medical school.
I knew Dan Fortmann when I was in practice.
@ARM,
You want to define this as a success?

However long Obama used Bush to blame his bad decisions is how long Trump can blame Obama. I think that is about 7.5 years.
Get over it.
@ARM,

Live by the whine die by the whine.
The operation was planned long in advance and was waiting for the new moon phase to strike. The weren't waiting for Trump to OK it. Wonder which Obama holdover tipped off the AQ about the timing.
"Not every woman is invited to the dump."
Also, brings to mind The Pickup Truck Song, by Jerry Jeff Walker. https://youtu.be/RWK8GgWD4uA.
OMG - Laslo lives in Seattle? In SEATTLE? I don't believe it.

LOL, I love how the righties disavow GW Bush nowadays.

Wha...? They disagree with the ruling of a Bush appointee, THEREFORE they disavow Bush?

Yeah, that's it.
PAST Obama slams on Bush are THE SAME as PREDICTIONS and have the same evidentiary value that Trump will do the same thing.
Sure.
"At what point then does Trump take full responsibility for the security of the country?"
A brand new President can only do so much about bathroom falls and climate change.
The irony being that Trump isn't blaming Obama at all. Unlike whiny Barry in so many ways.
G'night.
In 2006 both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama voted for The Secure Fence Act of 2006.
This federal statute, signed into law by President Bush, explicitly calls for over 700 miles of fencing to be build along the U.S.-Mexican border. Basically one-third of the border is to be walled off.
Trump's executive order to wall off the entire border is based on this statute, supported by both Clinton and Obama.
Here's Jorge Ramos, who is a great journalist, in my limited opinion, for pushing Hillary on this issue.
Kind of bizarre that I found this out after the election!
It's not a crime to disobey an order by Homeland Security, because Homeland Security is not a law-making branch of the government.
hee he he Dow closed above 20k.
Idiot.
Sucker bet.
What a maroon.
trump is trying, arm, it's just that people want to stop him.
Clever Dems.
Why are lefties so afraid of investigating voter fraud? Lefties love voter audits! These guys will soon have some free time.
An article at Slashdot says that the "immediate and irreparable injury" cited by Judge Robart in his decision blocking Trump's visa EO is the loss of H1-B workers to Microsoft and other tech companies in Washington.
https://politics.slashdot.org/story/17/02/04/0828247/microsofts-h-1b-workers-cited-in-motion-that-successfully-blocked-trumps-travel-ban
The 'antifa' antifascist rioters and other protesters are being used as muscle by international corporations.
"Not every woman is invited to the dump."
Michael K, you bring back very good memories! When I was a little girl, I could occasionally wheedle a Saturday trip to the dump out of my dad.
My wife used to go to the dump with her dad, also. That's why I allow her to go this time.
Whoa!
My daughter is an ultrasound technician.
When they were courting, my wife's parents would go to the dump and shoot rats with a .22. That was in New Jersey. We still have the rifle :)
The local dump, now closed, was the hot spot during bear season,.
Michael K, you're a good man,
Humperdink, locals used to go watch the bears at the dump when I was a kid, but I was never allowed to go. My mother was the First Helicopter Parent.
Oh Trumpie, you're good. You ARE good.
