Everything is ice owing to rain into sub freezing air this morning. My antenna radials are sagging low and the tippy-top is weighted over; the SWR changed unfavorably by a pretty large amount as well. Usually it's 1-1 but the antenna tuner can't get it below 1.2-1.
I blame the conductive properties of attached ice.
Snow! I WISH it would snow. Snow would be a relief.
That means that it would warm up here in order to snow. Currently 12 degrees outside. Woke up to actual ice on the bottom of the french doors in the bedroom. Behind the insulated draperies, the airdraft door stopper dealies were frozen to the sill and a 1/4 inch of ice where they missed covering the metal sill.
This is normal. It has been colder. -15 at night is not unusual. We get used to it and is a good excuse to bake something. I think white chocolate macademia cookies today.
Yes. This is California and why we in the State of Jefferson have nothing in common with those precious snowflakes who occupy the liberal areas of the State but who dictate to us how we should live.
Yeah We have a humidity problem in the master bedroom since we installed a fabulous gas heater.(A type which is ;egal everyplace else in the US. But in California. Pffft.) It works great and we haven't died or had a CO problem according to the monitor. We are a toasty warm 65 at night. YAY!!!! Previously we used oil filled electric heater in the winter which sent our PGE meter in a spin. But...the gas heater creates a humidity problem. Oh. Well. I'd rather be warm at night and when taking a shower and deal with the occasional condensation on the windows. Next....Amazon for a dehumidifier!!!
My sidekick used her iphone to take this pic 3 nights(over Pahrump) ago while departing Vegas at dusk. A nice lenticular cloud had persisted for several hours over the area.
At noon the driveway is still infinitely icy except where it is snow covered. The air is above freezing but the ground is at 29 degrees, so melting stuff from above freezes when it hits the ground.
Sooooo....today already at 9AM we have had a couple of calls from clients who are frantic. They don't have any water and my husband will drive out and see what the problems are.
DUH! It is sub freezing and you probably didn't heat your pump house or insulate your pipes AGAIN!! You would think that people would learn that water is going to freeze below 32 degrees and especially when it is 8 degrees at night. You have to protect your pipes, your pump house, close the vents under the house.....routine maintenance. Mostly absentee owners or those who only visit occasionally from their So Cal or Bay area homes. This isn't San Francisco...pay attention!!!
Some people think that if they turn on a light in the pump house that will heat it up. Well....it MIGHT if you weren't using a CFL bulb which puts off zero heat (thanks global warming fanatics)instead of a nice warm incandescent bulb placed near the piping, duh! and not at the ceiling where heat rises and cold sinks. Geeze science is haaaard. Smarter people use a pumphouse heater....IF they remember to turn the damned thing on.

I hadn't realized it but the Russian conspiracy theory was also used to explain away Brexit. Hmmm.

Once you change the speed of light, all the measurements are wrong.
Snow. Lucky you! We have 30 F, it's raining, and 1/8 of an inch of ice is covering everything.
Snow leaves footprints.
That is why I sometimes wear shoes that are two-sizes too small.
Sure, it hurts for a bit, but the lack of an evidential match pays off in the end...

More on the way...then COLD! Heading out shortly to deal with the accumulation so far.
Apparently its a foggy morning in London and in Florida, if my television and window are both to be believed.
In Las Vegas at this hour: Dark. Continued dark with scattered light.
In Seattle. Frosty.
Shooting the last scenes of the whole cast for my no-budget movie today.

Salt arrives pic just now.
Every Ice Age starts with snow falling on top of unmelted snow. But someday they will find the melting glacier with Christmas lights underneath it.

According to the handy IR thermometer.

Oh well. Money for us to deal with your dumbness.
