"If they let me serve as myself, I will give 30-plus years."

"I will sign up for the rest of my life. I love the military. I love my peers. I love the whole structure of the military."

Said a 22-year-old Navy officer quoted in a NYT editorial titled "Let Transgender Troops Serve Openly."

The military is not a social experiment, no matter how much the left thinks it should be.

The Israelis who have a real problem with numbers tried women in combat and gave up. I doubt anyone in their right mind would think "transgender" people should be in the military.

Getting a job in the military is a right, then?

I can't serve, and I've asked. I'm too old and too riddled with chronic diseases.

It's OK to disqualify me on those bases. It's not OK to disqualify someone with what may be a mental disorder.

There's no "right" to be a soldier. It should be considered an honor.

The biggest surprise in this piece? The pushback from the NYT readers. They weren't buying it.

The overriding objective of the military, that which trumps all others, is effectiveness in fighting wars.

Well that still means they can join the USAF. It's not exactly a "Military Service".

Seriously thoughThese people have personality disorders. Ever see their rate of regret and suicide after realignment surgery? If it were publicized, there would be calls to outlaw the practice. It's self-FGM.

As for mental stability and the Ensign that wants to fly jets, I used to run what the Army calls a "Personnel Reliability Program". Everybody in the chain of command for nukes is carefully screened, tested, then monitored for medical, financial, and other issues. Any mental down-check and you are pulled off the roster. I once had to go explain to the Commanding General why he needed to take my full colonel commander out of the nuke CoC (but not the regular one), because the Colonel had been in an auto accident and been unconscious for 2 minutes. Any incident like that took you off the roster for 6 months. I can imagine the result if I told him that Ensign S wants to wear dresses and mutilate herself...

Landing Jets on carriers is a stressful task that needs total concentration and level headed presence. Guys who want their dicks cut off are not good candidates.

The NYT states that there are thousands of oppressed transgendered serving in the military. I don't believe it. In society at large it's a fairly rare condition, and I wouldn't think a military career would appeal to men who like to shave their legs........,I don't think transgendered people are in any way evil, and, like all of us, they deserve to be treated like human bengs. But they suffer from a kind of sexual dyslexia and the rest of us shouldn't be forced to read in their alphabet.......Shouldn't toleration be extended also to young men who object to living in intimate quarters with transsexuals. Their antipathy to transsexuals is as natural and authentic as the transsexuals wish to dress up like a girl.

Have served 27 years in the military.

The military has a mission and it allows a person significant freedom to accomplish that mission. I've never had such a high level of freedom in any other professional endeavor. In exchange, it also requires you to give up part of yourself and your sense of individuality. Those who don't like that exchange are free to leave at the end of their enlistment or to resign their commissions.

The priority is:
- Mission
- Men
- Self

Leaders that can't deal with that set of priorities don't belong.

The Military exists to Defend the Nation. Force Effectiveness is the top, and nearly only priority. Things that improve Force Effectiveness are Good. individual rights for Trans people does not improve Force Effectiveness, ergo, those social engineering rules are bad.

I don't know if I've told this story here before, but my husband is a military contractor and was working in Afghanastan. Every job has to have a DOD civilian counterpart. My husbands counterpart was a transgendered male to female. I don't know if he'd had all the surgeries, but he had the boobs along with a greying balding head. They stuck "her" in with the woman and scared the crap out of the females in the showers the first day he walked in. He laughed about it when he told my husband. He also talked about the beautiful woman in the showers. I guess he became a lesbian when his gender was reassigned. My husband had to take this person around to the different shops and introduce him to the soldiers. Imagine having to that in that type of environment. What an embarrassment. It seems the plan was for my husband to write him up to get him out of there which he refused to do. He wasn't going to go to court as part of a lawsuit so eventually someone else did the dirty work.

News flash, precious little snowflake: Nobody gets to serve as themselves. They break you down then build you up into the form they need to accomplish their tasks.

Well it could be worse, in the Army I could see our transperson setting back Civil-Community relations among the noble savages of Kandahar back a few hundred years in multiple scenarios.

The Irony is that our DoD SJW warriors think that all cultures and mores are equal until they rub each other the wrong way, like putting a tranny in charge of searching the local females.

Oh, how nice of him to promise to sully the navy for thirty years, as though he's giving US some kind of bargain.

If you let me poop on the quarterdeck, I promise to keep pooping on the quarterdeck for thirty years.

How generous.

Get lost, loser. We don't need the likes of you in the navy.

Tosa,

You mean like now? Considering the number of crises or "strong potential to become crises" and the potential for our military to get involved, and the size of the military after the cutbacks of the recent years, there is less margin for this type of thing than at probably any other time in our history, other than maybe during the Revolutionary War.

Get with the program, D-Sarge. Equality is Job 1. (Of absolutely everything. If you can imagine it, it deserves equal protection.) The top priority. (I would say the only priority, if it weren't for the vital importance of diversi-tay.) In any fundamental social institution, not just the military.

Kelly: He also talked about the beautiful woman in the showers. I guess he became a lesbian when his gender was reassigned.

Are any of these women-trapped-in-men's-bodies not "lesbians"?

Funny how so many of these really-feminine-on-the-inside (really!) not-a-dudes seem to have such stereotypically masculine sexual interests/behaviors.

Sebastian said...

Indeed.

The military needs to look like America.

If it looks like America is going insane over sex-related issues, the military needs join the insanity.

Real pointy spear (e.g. rough men) solders, in my combat experience, think about only one thing. Sleep, oh and being alive to wake up (having the whole unit asleep at the same time is not conducive to survival)

Not now. Only for the 10-minute period where offensive ground operations crush any organized resistance in our path. Once that is over and a Green Bean coffee hut is set up for the FOBBITS, then the REAL priorities of the military can happen.

I would suppose that a woman trapped in a man's body has a life full of drama and misunderstandings" and challenges. I would also suspect that in this drama nearly everyone on earth is a bit player as the star makes her grand entrance. Sadly, the military has other aims than to make transsexuals feel good about themselves. There are some contexts where I would be sympathetic to their challenges, but there are better places and better ways to work out their life.

In the 90s and early 00s I was in a NATO ally Army where there was no legal bar to gays serving. In the combat arms and combat support units in which I served there were no openly gay men - there were likely some closeted gay men, but the social rules were very much "don't tell on pain of getting sh*tkicked". It may have been different in admin / logistics units. The MPs, on the other hand, were almost all lesbians or bisexual women - and frankly they were among the most effective women I served with - generally much more professional and hardcore than the straight women.

I am trying to imagine a transexual serving in the field in a combat arms unit, and it just does not compute. I suppose it will be good to have some "females" who can do more than 3 proper chin-ups, and maybe one will pass Ranger School or Infantry Officers' School. Most of the females I served with couldn't even meet the physical requirements for the junior NCO leadership course, until they gutted those requirements.

Since men can now be women, can transsexual men compete in women's sports?

How far is the professor willing to take this?

Anonymous said...

Eric.

apparently in the progressive world, there is no binomial definition of gender. Rather a continuum

Thus there are no women's sports. just sports for folks who identity today as a woman...

Anglelyne, I did wonder if maybe he was trying to make my husband more comfortable by assuring him he was still interested in woman. A cold comfort to the woman he was showering with I'm sure.

If you commit a crime immediately say you are a woman. You will then go to a woman prison. Since Jenner is a woman and still has a dick, would you even need to have your penis removed to be considered a woman? Then you could bunk with women, and have sex with them in prison.
Free conjugal visits, while avoiding male prison rape.
