The Badgers Café is open...

DSC04077

... talk about basketball...

DSC04076

... or the protest panty-liners that are all over town today... or anything else you want.

Go Badgers.

And go Spartans. You know I picked Michigan State and Wisconsin for the final game. I told you that on March 17th:
So I looked at the NYT interactive tool, and I made it so Wisconsin plays Michigan State in final game. I used some sophisticated ranking tools to make that happen.
UPDATE: Victory!

Meade, you have just been insulted.

I see the reflection of our hostess in the window, and I wonder how many iPhones have been dropped while trying to capture a quick photo.

What is this insanity about?

Last week the story was that girls all over the world can't go to school because they lack feminine hygiene products. And here the scolds of Madison are just wasting them.

Big Mike said...

Looks like Duke is spoiling your bracket, Professor. Sorry.

Anonymous said...

It is just me, or are others out there wishing those scolds would accidentally install those panty liners upside down?

Francisco D said...

I have bet a woman I am dating that it will be Duke vs. Wisconsin.

Pray for me my friends. She's hot, and a Bball fan.

Patrick said...

I'm with you Francisco! Go Bucky!

Are Klump and Kastratia in town dispersing their period pieces?

My money is on UK but my heart is with Badgers.

Duke is so good!

Meade said...

And, in case anyone saw me on State street or the lake path, that panty liner someone had stuck on the handlebar stem of my B-Cycle bike wasn't mine.

It looks like the little badger is holding up the tampon.

Okay, forget MSU. It's allabout the Bafgers now, the hope of the midwest.

No joke the Spartans sort of got raped by them blue devils.

I heard that today is Kaminsky's 22nd birthday.

Let's hope the refs give him some close calls for his birthday present.

Jimmy said...

ok, I've not been around for a few weeks- the Badgers I understand. But panty liners? Glad I missed those posts then. But go Badgers.

Bafgers?

This is a red state final four and as a result i am less interested than the deep blue super bowl.

I know Wisconsin and Michigan are kinda blue but they have pube governors.

tits.

Lol what moron at TNT came up with the idea of a Team Stream?

I was wondering why TNT was never showing Bo Ryan's face.

Two things:

1) The Anchoress had a link to an NYT article that ends on an approving note about the rather ominous statement:

"Gold told me that church leaders must be made “to take homosexuality off the sin list.”"

and

2) Apparently the Hugo Awards were gamed pretty handily as part of an organized protest.

Michael said...

Nice. Well played

Great game - congrats...

The ONE in 38 and ONE.

I hope they beat Duke.

Birches said...

Excellent. I hate Kentucky and I hate Duke. Guess I know how I'll be cheering on Monday.

Big Mike said...

Congratulations to Wisconsin and its fans.

That's Badger Ball! I didn't post before because I didn't want to put the whammy ON Wisconsin.

I hope Ashley Judd is inconsolable. She wants all the Twitter abusers prosecuted.

There's one for each team. You could watch the Wildcats one or the Badgers one, or the regular broadcast.

DrSquid said...

Great game Badgers, congratulations. Now go beat Duke

Congrats Badger fans. Tonight's victory has got to make that 0-59 drubbing in the Big Ten championship smart a lot less.

Hope you win on Monday!

Birches said...

Yeah, there were some bad calls in the 6 minutes, but it seems like the last minute and a half they just let them play.

rcocean said...

Some crappy calls (missing shot clock violation?!) but Kentucky beat themselves. The last 2 minutes were full of airballs, bad passes and missed defensive plays.

Original Mike said...

Wisconsin has won every game, except the first, by 7 points.

rcocean said...

Don't know why Kentucky didn't shoot more from outside - they allowed Wisconsin to pack the paint all game.

rcocean said...

I've seen Refs be homers, this is first game where they made bad calls on both sides all through the game.

But still a great, hard fought game.

Reminds me of 74 UCLA vs. NC.

Patrick said...

38 and dONE.

Having had friends from Wisconsin, most of whom also went to Univ Wisconsin, and also some profs who got their doctorates at Univ Wisconsin, I congratulate the Badgers. Though I was born and raised far from Madison, I knew the "On Wisconsin" fight song before I entered junior high, courtesy of a record of college songs.

I will be rooting for Wisconsin in the Final.

Big Mike said...

Before anyone gets too excited, remember that the Badgers lost to Duke by 10 at home last December.

Also, the two coaches you do not want to be going against with one day or two days to prepare are Tom Izzo and Mike Krzyzewski (probably in that order). One way or another Bo Ryan was going to come up against one of those two. The Badgers will really have to earn it on Monday.

Good luck to them.

Birches said...

Some crappy calls (missing shot clock violation?!)

Yeah, that was bad too.

Original Mike said...

In the "Careful what you wish for" category, I did not want to have to play Michigan State again.

Unknown said...

Congrats Badgers from a Terrapin. I hate dynasties an records. The B1G is still shiny and new but my hate for Duke will last forever. It may take a few years to develop the same rivalries and intensities in a new conference, but kudos for now, and the Terrapins will see you next year.

Kirby Olson said...

In spite of several calls that went against the Badgers (Kaminsky should have been given the charging foul late in the fourth, and Lyle should have been called for a flagrant one, for example), I liked the poise and aplomb with which the Badgers played. I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and all their commentators picked Kentucky, but they were also all tempted to choose Wisconsin. They just didn't think it could happen. From the opening bell, however, Wisconsin was in this, and it wasn't luck - the point guards were excellent, the shooting guards were excellent, and Frank Kaminsky towered over everyone, and made it look easy. Kentucky had big guys underneath but it seemed they weren't using their brains as well as Kaminsky was using his. I hope they win Monday night!

sane_voter said...

There were alot of questionable calls, more went against Wisc than UK IMHO.

Kentucky got away with that slap in the face of the Wisc player that should have resulted in two free throws. The basket Hayes made after the shot clock expired just made up for that previous bad call.

Joe Schmoe said...

Yeah WISS_KAHN_SIN!

They don't get enough credit as a defensive team. They played some hella good defense tonight.

49 states and half of North Carolina will be pulling for the Badgers to beat the Blue Devils.

These are indeed the halcyon days of Scott Walker's Wisconsin.

Guildofcannonballs said...

All we know for sure is the Badgers earned themselves another forty minutes of ball time.

Fourty if I had druthers.

Batman AZ said...

This Spartan in AZ will be cheering for Bucky, though disappointed that Ann's all B1G final didn't play out. On Wisconsin!

Meade said...

No joke. But it's better marketing to say they canola oiled them.

CWJ said...

I woke up laughing. The two teams that the Virgina whiners said one of which should have been bumped to give Virgina a number 1 seed are in the finals.

Francisco D said...

Not to boast, but of course I am boasting. I called it! Yeah! two for two.

Go Badgers!

MadisonMan said...

Before anyone gets too excited, remember that the Badgers lost to Duke by 10 at home last December.

Dekker was hobbling in that game.

Didn't watch -- I had a very early wakeup this morning -- very glad the Badgers won. I like that 4-year students won against the NBA Training Team -- even though I think it's great that kids can leapfrog college if they don't want to go to classes. College isn't for everyone, why should it be mandatory for Basketball players?

So I haven't watched a game yet. I guess I can't watch Monday night either.

Go Badgers!

Original Mike said...

"So I haven't watched a game yet. I guess I can't watch Monday night either.'

Damn right you can't watch!

My wife considers herself a jinx and will not watch either. I record the game for her.

because, damned if the leftists will let you enjoy a quality basketball game and only think about the possibility of Wisconsin advancing to the championship game
