The reason why it works is the rubbing melts the glue holding the lid to the can. There are electric can openers operating on this system now. I bought one without realizing it, and it took me a week to figure out how to use it.
I could not do that, my right paw has serious nerve damage. Besides, cats don't have opposable thumbs.
Worse comes to worse, I'll whack the dog with the can and use his now-floppy head but still-sharp fangs like an old fashioned punch and cut can opener.

Initially there will be more cans than can openers. As the zombie population exponentially grows there will continue to be more cans than can openers. However those areas where cans and can openers live will be limited.

My cat thanks you. Now I can't use the can opener is lost excuse.
All accents are not equal....
The big guy had a good command of English, but his accent forced me to hear him twice. Once with my ears, and then re-playing it in my head.
The smaller guy was much easier to understand.
Russian cans, I think.
The big guy is funny.

Don't need a can opener, but you may need sutures if you squeeze too hard around that free-floating lid when it pops.
