"Despite the difficult conditions, the children of workers are able to keep their happiness at top level."

Half of a caption for one of the pictures in "2014 National Geographic Photo Contest, Part II."

The other half is: "Kinik, the district of Manisa in Turkey, is a well known place for dried tomatoes."

There's a lot of future pasta sauce in that picture.

I've always been amazed at the photographic talent that shows up in National Geographic.

children can be happy anywhere.

Difficult conditions are only 'relative'

It isn't hard to imagine what the subject in photo #5 is thinking - lunch! And photo 24 shows that climbing a tree to escape a lion isn't a viable strategy.

"Despite the difficult conditions, the children of workers are able to keep their happiness at top level."

Kinda sounds like a headline in a state-approved North Korea newspaper.

The Figure Caption for #6 is ridiculous.

Yes, that caption for #6 is unbelievably stupid. Banff went up in flames? Funny, but I was there last summer just as this fire was wrapping up, and it looked OK to me. The fires (there were several) were significant, but the average visitor would hardly notice them once the smoke was gone.
