It Begins with Words.

And in the Spirit of Althouse's Christmas Eve Post "The power which has always started the greatest religious and political avalanches in history rolling has from time immemorial been the magic power of the spoken word, and that alone.":

Happy Holidays, everybody!...

oh, oh, calm down. I was just kidding. It is just another day in my life, but I don't have to work and I get to goof off.

Sorry, I am in a goofy mood. I will be neighborly and wish you all conformists a very Merry Christmas!

My dentist is a republican and he wished me Merry Christmas last week on my appointment and I wished him back because I love him -- best dentist ever. I don't have a problem with that.

Growing up in India, our neighbors were converted Christians, couple of generations -- they have Indian names with Christian names. Our housekeeper whom we inherited from them when they moved was a Christian and I loved her. She called her daughter Jospeena (a corrupted version of Josephina) and sent her to school which we all encouraged and she got education and a real job and broke the cycle.

Merry Christmas, Professor, from a fellow lawyer and great admirer. Your blog is the only thing on my must-read list every day. I don't know how you do it, but please keep it up.

Merry Christmas to all. My youngest daughter drove 8 hours from Tucson and my oldest son 9 hours from San Francisco to be with the family Christmas Eve. We were all at my younger son's house for their annual party but he had to work at the fire house. Today we will assemble at various houses and one restaurant for dinner. All are healthy and happy.

My best to all.

I have research subjects for this morning. My daughter-in-law wanted to know the value of the tetra drachma I had given my middle daughter as a birthday gift this year. I bought it from a workman at Ephesus a few years ago. It is the most perfect Attic Owl I've ever seen. I had it mounted in a necklace. This morning I've been researching the subject. What would a tetra drachma buy in 500 BC ?

My son-in-law and I discussed the question of extra-terrestrial life last evening. I'm doing some research on Archea and extremophiles today. Lots to do on Christmas Day before dinner time.

Merry Christmas to Professor Althouse and everyone who reads here! The birds began feeding and chattering away fifteen minutes ago, and there's a chilly fog settling in, I think, with perhaps even a snow flake or two somewhere in the valley... but, please, no ice on the road I drive later on to get to Mass in die.

Merry Christmas to everyone from beautiful Barstow, California. No, I'm not from here but the wife is working a Christmas shift at the community hospital and I am accompanying her.

Let me add that this blog is my absolute favorite. I have to admit that I am sometimes overwhelmingly intimidated about commenting because the folks here are so brilliant. But I'll throw my two cents in if I think it will add to the discussion. I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have this blog to enlighten and entertain me.

Thank you, Quayle-ji.

We are off to Cape May. I don't know what a beach town will do in this weather. But we heathens have to amuse ourselves somehow. Cheers, all!
