Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you and Meade, Althouse.
Folks wanna talk about 'The Taste's" Nigella Lawson's drug use allegations? I thought she was great last season, and so happy she left her abusive husband. But snorting white lines? Man, that's gotta be hard for ABC's reputation.
" But snorting white lines? " Why ? What is she trying to avoid/cope with ? Eh, so her husbands an abusive shit, divorce him. Christ, she's been successful in her own right. Why jeopardize with coke. Geez, people make some horrendously stupid choices.
A close examination of the gargoyle-like figure on the left reveals it is statuary with a glass ashtray embedded within its oracular organ. Well done! Very considerate to guests who smoke tobacco!
Is that a room in the Althouse home? If so, I applaud your choice of that print. It works beautifully on that wall. Where did you find it? I would love to see it in more detail.

That is our living room. The poster came with Meade and was, I think, his most prized possession. I found the image on line here but the color and condition of that don't look as good as what we have.
Not sure where he got it. Maybe he will weigh in on the subject.
I've been reading "Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons, the Damascus Accident, and the Illusion of Safety" by Eric Schlosser.
It's beyond belief.
I'm only up to about 1957, and already there've been dozens of mishaps involving the handling of nuclear bombs, many of which could have caused detonations.
I've learned a lot. Immediately after WWII, there was movement to internationalize control of the Bomb. This was quickly supplanted by a movement to immediately crush the USSR (this is the USSR before it had the Bomb) with our arsenal. Nice thought.
Truman sent Atomic Energy Commission chief David Lilienthal to inspect our bombs at Los Alamos, for at that time they were under civilian control. Liiienthal found the place a mess (reassuring) and that perhaps one bomb might work. Ha.

I want to see more of that blue wall!
I like how all the birds nests are revealed in the winter.. I just saw two in our magnolia shrub/tree.
@ Edward: I agree. And she's a lovely lady, but apparently has had some issues.

Thank you, Althouse.
Althouse,
you're right. The link may be original (faded) but doesn't capture what makes this special to my eye. I hope Meade chimes in.
This Picture Fully Supports my Althouse Conspiracy Theory.

The Glass Doors Taunt Us: it Appears That We Can Look for More Evidence, But We cannot Truly Go Inside to SEE the Evidence.

Notice the Cool Blue to the Left of the Frame: it Only Accentuates the Illusion of Warmth and Comfort that Lies Inside. They Never Had a Chance.

Althouse still uses 3.5" "floppy" disks.
Heh, heh, heh.
Nice royal purple/blue wall.
Is this your house or an actual cafe?
(Just read your comment that it is your house after I posted.)
