Wisconsin Legislature proposes kicking Soros-funded group from on-campus office...

GOP lawmakers want to boot investigative journalism center off UW-Madison campus

The Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism would have to leave the UW-Madison campus, under a Republican motion before the Legislature's budget committee.

GOP lawmakers were set to vote early Wednesday morning on the motion, which specifically named the center established by former Wisconsin State Journal investigative reporter Andy Hall. Currently the center has a small office in Vilas Hall on the floor occupied by the UW-Madison School of Journalism.

I just saw two cardinals smooching on my deck railing.. how amazing is that. I got the photo of it and considering how fast I needed to act, it is a good picture. I also have a lot of finches, gray and red, and the yellow ones are coming out now. They raid my succulent and towards the end of the summer there is usually nothing left of the plant.

I think he would be a good president. The only thing missing is a military separation code. He never served.

Yes, because we need all the people on welfare we can get, right?

And, no, studies have shown a bigger share of the Hispanic vote would not help the Rs.

Interestingly, a bigger share of the white vote would do wonders for them. More to the point, even the WaPo says "Latinos become more conservative as they spend longer periods of time in the U.S. is significant". so, this is a generational time bomb like the Roe effect.

Two observations:

1) Good. There should be consequences for breaking laws.

2) Win over Hispanics? Shouldn't it be the other way around? If I were a Republican lawmaker, first thing I'd be asking Hispanics is, "What have you done for me lately?" If Republicans play the "Race Game," they're no better than the Democrats they criticize for same.

I must be out of date. I married a foreign bride, while in uniform, followed all the military permission rules, and she had to go throught he drill of immigration at the Embassy to come here with me.

How do these "undocumented spouses" of service members get in to the country in the first place?

Tim said...

"The left's priorities tell you all you need to know."

All feeling, no thought.

Driven by an abiding sense of alienation.

Which can only be cured by 1) being in charge; 2) remaking America something it was never intended to be, ergo, Obama.

If your spouse loved you the way the Left *loves* America, you'd divorce them post haste.

Your friends would congratulate you for coming to your senses, apologize for not warning you off the slag, and for staying away all these years because they couldn't stand to see her beat you down.

And all the Popes since St. Peter would annul that marriage, in record time.

Tim said...

How do these "undocumented spouses" of service members get in to the country in the first place?

The question that will not be answered, because it cannot be answered without a lie.

Not that lying has ever been a bar...

Mogget said...

Spouses who are illegal aliens entered the country w/o papers before the wedding, I'm thinking. That is, they came over the Southern border the usual way, perhaps as children, then married a service member or a young man who then decided to enlist. For sure, though, it would cost an officer his/her security clearance and therefore his/her career.

I think that what happened late this afternoon, when the Washington Post published a leak from a high-level NSA official which exposed the government's internet surveillance program, will come to be seen as a significant historical event.

The Guardian published the same leak a couple of hours later.

If the story is accurate, they have been spying on just about everything you do through the web - hotmail, gmail, pictures, videos, internet phone calls. The conspiracy theorists, on this issue, were right.

The Post would not have published this without informing the White House, so they've probably known for some period of time that the story was coming and may have had a hand in the timing of this and the Verizon metadata leak. It's how they've worked these things in the past.

The PRISM story is just beginning to separate out from the less important Verizon leak, but should make tomorrow an interesting news day.

The Left has apparently decided that the way to deal with the IRS scandals is to ballyhoo the harrassment of the tea party groups, which Democrats think is no big deal and in fact rather desirable and, in any case, the groups asked for it when they applied for "tax-free" status, etc, and so on, which deflects attention from the really serious stuff like hitting Republican campaign donors with fake "audits," etc., not to mention sharing their tax return information with other agencies and Democrat campaigns and support organizations.
Even the Gibson Guitar raid now seems to be connected to the honcho at Gibson being a Republican donor.

They should take a moment to reflect on the precedence the Obama adminisration is setting. They get away with this, it will be payback time in 2017 and beyond!

Likewise, I do not think the latest flap of the NSA "data-mining" operation of the phone company records necessarily is a big deal. It is only the information that shows on your phone bill every month that is being mined.
The problems can come when they go to lying to the FISA judges about why they want the warrants to go to the next step.

We saw in the Rosen case that the first two judges they went to told them to go away and don't tell anybody you saw me, but then they found the third judge who was willing to play ball.

And we still don't know if the Korean thing is really why they wanted Rosen's call records. If they lied about one thing - and that before a federal judge, i.e., perjury - why wouldn't they lie about whatever else?
