Today begins a 4 day weekend, but we are staying local since we traveled last weekend.

Planting time!

Memorial Day.

They should have kept it the 30th.

I'd forgotten all about it.

PS I assume that fetching little straw hat in the other photos is yours, Madame.

Somehow I can't see Meade wearing it.

I see what you did there. . . .

We watched Somethings Gotta Give on Netflix last night. I saw it was 10 years ago, and it was cute when I was younger, pre Heart Incident.

This time it seemed very entertaining and full of good sense to me.

I really loved Diane Keaton in it, and the wife loved Jack Nicholson.

Man, can't wait for the long weekend. I wish we could get to the point in this country where leveraging technology could be to our benefit. Working 5 day/8 hour days with 2 days off is tiresome. I'd rather do 4/10's.

Hey I have those hostas. They grow into monsters. I like the yellow ones, the ones lurking on the side there, which are not so bad..

See you at the Brat Fest. The Sentry one, not all those silly fauxfests that vegans and anti-Walkerites started.

Good honest ground-up pork bratwurst from Johnsonville. Deeeee-licious!!! And with ketchup and kraut. Nothing is finer.

Last year I worked as a griller. This year I'm a runner and a snipper.

Still bummed it's not at Hilldale, but it had plainly outgrown the space.

A lot of places do flex hours (where I last worked, they were legendary). Ask around.

The Blonde hates ours and had a bunch of them pulled so we can have her veggie garden.

The leaves kind of look like vagina lips wanting and inviting a hog to be trapped by them. Those leaves/vagina lips are tempting us to enter them.

tits and thanks.

I am heading to Madison this Saturday. My mom is having surgery on Tuesday and I am in Scony for the a full week helping her in her recovery.

Aren't I a good fag son?

Now you know why I am their fave.

My sisters who live 10 miles from my parents aren't doing shit.

Don't care much for hostas. This house we live in had them all over the yard when we first bought it almost 20 years ago. I think I've finally succeeded in killing all of them off.

I'm starting to feel a little sorry for Lois Lerner. It's like watching the Daytona 500 and a car moves wrong, then there's smoke, a little smoke, then a lot of smoke, then everyone is swerving around this little car which is tumbling end over end and is on fire and it spins and spins into wall and jams in the fence. Meanwhile everyone else dashes on toward victory. Only in the Daytona race the driver wears fireproof clothes and is held in place by straps. Lois thought SHE was fireproof and thought she was following the President and so was safe. Maybe she could do a book deal after she gets immunized and testifies and finishes prison. All the President's Women would be a good title - Benghazi,Hilary' fault; Obamacare, Katherine Sebelius; IRS, Lois Lerner, Kathryn Ruemmeler. More to come.

So why are they protecting Sarah Hill Ingram? She was the one at IRS running the tax exempt division an Lerner was her deputy. This Ingram woman is now in charge of Obamacare at IRS! WH is protecting her so Obamacare does not implode before it starts. Corruption at this level is disgusting and to think Obama was seen as being high above politics and idealistic in 2008 is a laugh then as it is now. What a fucker.

Today I set out in full sun and I could see clouds all over the place but not where I was and off in the distance one of the clouds was hanging down, as if it were painted and the painter just dragged his brush down through the cloud, and I thought, "maybe today will be the day I live my dream of being under a virga."

By definition evaporated before hitting the ground so I wouldn't get wet, but then it happened, raindrops on me and only on me, and just barely, all around everywhere else was sunny and dry except directly above me it was dark and raining but just barely on me then it stopped, and I knew that my moment had passed.

I had been rained upon under the virga and barely got wet at all.

It was a bit anticlimactic after all that. I doubt anybody saw me under there and appreciated the spectacle of my interface with nature and my longing satisfied as I imagine when I see the wonder of virgas in the distance. And a woman was there too in that moment and she acted like she didn't even care.

I seem to have a memory of what Chip describes, but I don't know if its real or I'm just imagining it.

Maybe when it happened I didn't capture the significance enough to recall it later.

I might have happened to me in the Dominican Republic when I was very young and I was en el campo.

I was thinking of Beth Dozoretz (remember under Clinton) on the Hill, as I was watching the Lois Lane of the IRS. I was thinking of Robert Torricelli.

I really miss Hill scandals. More please. Have IRS be on the front burner till Hillary gets on for 2016.

More scandals please. This is my hollywood.

Speaking of plants, Trayvon Martin was apparently growing marijuana. He also had a photograph of a weapon in his cell phone.

So you just turning into a lil hoodlum,” one friend, whose name has been withheld, texted Trayvon.

That should probably be excluded as character evidence. But if he's growing marijuana and he's checking his plants and he's spooked by somebody following him, I would think the marijuana plants are relevant and should come in. I would probably want some kind of nexus between the marijuana and the attack, though. Otherwise it just proves he's a guy who likes to smoke weed and enjoys his 2nd Amendment rights.

We were talking about race on this thread. (I don't know how to link to a certain place on the page, sorry, but the comment I'm referencing is mine at 9:17).

It's their job to be upset about race and to upset people about race. It's how they make their money.

With that in mind, this takedown of Alex Haley and Roots is particularly interesting. The article quotes liberally from Thomas Sowell and Stanley Crouch. What I love about Crouch is not his politics (he might be a liberal, I have no idea) but his passionate love for the truth.

KCFleming said...

I'm only slightly heartened by Noonan's article about the IRS. But it was in part her efforts that got Obama elected in the first place.

She might just as easily go back to the boyfriend we warned her about. In the article, she does not make a connection between the IRS and Obama, tellingly.

Jeezo pete, why else would the IRS do what they did? Boxarocks, that Noonan.

From Noonan:

In December 2010 the FBI came to ask about a person who'd attended a King Street Patriots function. In January 2011 the FBI had more questions. The same month the IRS audited her business tax returns. In May 2011 the FBI called again for a general inquiry about King Street Patriots. In June 2011 Engelbrecht's personal tax returns were audited and the FBI called again. In October 2011 a round of questions on True the Vote. In November 2011 another call from the FBI. The next month, more questions from the FBI. In February 2012 a third round of IRS questions on True the Vote. In February 2012 a first round of questions on King Street Patriots. The same month the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms did an unscheduled audit of her business. (It had a license to make firearms but didn't make them.) In July 2012 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration did an unscheduled audit. In November 2012 more IRS questions on True the Vote. In March 2013, more questions. In April 2013 a second ATF audit.

All this because she requested tax-exempt status for a local conservative group and for one that registers voters and tries to get dead people off the rolls.

The democrat party is corrupt, from the top down. When democrats gain the majority, they install voter fraud laws. When democrats are in the majority, they harass you through the IRS. The democrat party is the mob.

Noonan:

Again, if what happened at the IRS is not stopped now—if the internal corruption within it is not broken—it will never stop, and never be broken. The American people will never again be able to have the slightest confidence in the revenue-gathering arm of their government. And that, actually, would be tragic.

Would it really? Would it be so tragic if the IRS--and the government as a whole--were viewed with a tinge (or a tinge more) of mistrust?

I'm not even certain they deserve 'trust but verify'.

Still, Noonan can't be expected to jump back onto the conservative side of the fence with both feet on her first go. The drugs they put in the air over on the progressive side make your head hurt if you quite cold turkey.

Hostas are great. They grow anywhere, get huge, require very little maintenance, and are as hearty as all get-out.

What's neat is to watch how the leaves have been 'designed' to funnel water down into the core of the plant.
